As the movement grew, ideas of repatriation tended to give way to either black militancy or mysticism. The Rastafarian life usually includes vegetarianism, the wearing of dreadlocks, and the smoking of marijuana.

It would be very easy in the modern day, with so many members of the younger generation being brought into political conversations, to think that the Neturei Karta have their views founded firmly in politics, but in reality their views are rooted in their religious beliefs and their conviction that there shouldn’t be a Jewish homeland before the coming of the Messiah, which they conceive to be a pinnacle part of the teachings of their religion and hence, it sits at the core of their views.

According to legend, as a young man Menelik visited his father in Jerusalem, where Solomon is said to have crowned him Ethiopia’s first emperor. Haile Selassie was considered a representative of the Solomonic dynasty and the 225th successor to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Like all emperors of Ethiopia, he called himself the ‘Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah’. The lion, with crown and sceptre, was also depicted on the Ethiopian flag. Meanwhile, in Jamaica In Jamaica, an island nation in the Caribbean about 12,000 kilometres from Ethiopia, Haile Selassie was simultaneously endowed with a second ‘career’: that of Messiah and God. This happened without any active participation by the ruler. Many sources cite a prophecy made in the 1920s by political activist Marcus Garvey (1887-1940) as the origin of Haile Selassie’s divine worship: ‘Look to Africa, when a black king shall be crowned, for the day of deliverance is at hand’. The father of the ‘Back-to-Africa’ movement and of Ethiopianism in Jamaica foretold the coronation of a powerful black king who would bring about the long-awaited return to Africa and the liberation of the black peoples from colonial oppression.

I’m…. What a stupid question to ask me!” Moran interrupted and said: “Excuse me! How dare you!” “Of course I’m not OK with it, the killing is horrific,” Neil continued. Moran said: “Well then what are you offering?” “I’m trying to point to the realpolitik of the situation,” Neil said heatedly. As a member of the audience started to speak, Question Time host Fiona Bruce cut in and said they were out of time, adding: “I know you want to say more Layla, forgive me.”

Terrified onlookers dived for cover as brothers Murad and Ebrahim Nemer, aged 38 and 30, leapt out of a car at a bus stop in East Jerusalem just after the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was extended for another day. Superintendent Doron Turgeman, commander of the Jerusalem police district where the shooting took place said: ‘This incident involved two terrorists who shot civilians after arriving in a vehicle. ‘One had an M16 machine gun and the other a pistol, they were both residents of East Jerusalem.

He took a call from Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat at the scene. “Mr. Chairman, I don’t know what to say,” Abington told Arafat. “But you’d better prepare yourself for the worst. I don’t know what will happen.” According to an advisor, Arafat reacted angrily to the attack, calling it a disaster. “When I woke up Arafat and told him about the bombing, he was silent for a few seconds and then said angrily: ‘This is a disaster, a disaster,’ ” Ahmed Tibi said.

The mass slaughter of media workers is a horror within a horror. Where is the outcry from the global journalistic community? Israel’s onslaught against Gaza is a Russian doll of horror, with many atrocities tucked within. Described by the United Nations as a “graveyard for thousands of children”, where more than half of northern Gaza’s buildings are destroyed or damaged and 70% of a traumatised population have lost access to clean water, Gaza is not wanting for horror – but is desperately lacking the essentials of life. The mass slaughter of journalists is one of those horrors. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), this is the deadliest conflict for media workers they have ever recorded. A total of at least 57 – comprising 50 Palestinian and seven foreign journalists – have suffered violent deaths; another 100 have been injured, all in just seven weeks. To put those numbers in perspective, according to the International Federation of Journalists, a total of 68 media workers were killed on a global scale in the whole of 2022. Where, it must be asked, is the journalistic solidarity? When Israel banned foreign reporters from entering Gaza, it was left to Palestinian journalists to risk their lives to bear witness to the world. Without them, no media organisation would have the material to accurately report this catastrophe. As Reporters Without Borders put it, Israel is “close to imposing an all-out media blackout in Gaza”. Palestinian truth-tellers are all that stood in the way, and one by one, their voices have been snuffed out. Where are the fiery letters condemning this unprecedented massacre within a massacre?

Izumi Nakamitsu, Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, reported that on 25 March, Moscow announced its agreement with Minsk to station its non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus. “I wish to be clear at the outset — all States must avoid taking any actions that could lead to escalation, mistake or miscalculation,” she stressed, adding that all States parties must strictly adhere to their obligations under the landmark Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which is also known as the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

I have been asked about my ideas relating to the neutron bomb story. What I think is this: Most of the clues are already there. But I think Emilio Dell Guidice (dead now) was about right when he visited me in Paddington. It is a version of cold fusion discovered by Fleischmann. I knew Fleischmann. If you heat Uranium metal to 300 degrees it reacts with hydrogen to give Uranium hydride UH3. Presumably then also Deuterium and Tritium. These are molecular species, not as Dell Guidice told me, a solution or an intersticial affair. When the system gets above about 700 degrees the hydrides decompose back to Uranium and hydrogen. This is the basis for a nuclear power system which cannot melt down as the neutron moderator, hydrogen, reversibly leaves the Uranium and stops the reactor. Neutrons are stopped by low atomic number elements, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron ,Hydrogen. They pass through high atomic number elements (e.g. concrete). They are stopped ballistically not ionically as they carry no charge. Their relative biological effectiveness (ionisation) results from the kinetic energy they impart to hydrogen in water. It is about 100 (alpha is 20). OK. They make a mix of Depleted Uranium with varying quantities of UT3 and UD3. When these are heated up, by explosive or just by impact they do fusion, producing a massive neutron release of 14MeV and to a lesser extent 3.5MeV plus an alpha particle. There is no tamper, as with thermonuclear, so the neutrons are not reflected back into the bomb but are allowed to escape. The device is very small and low yield. They had neutron land mines and shells. The key is a very low yield explosion (tons of TNT). Back to DeIl Guidice if this is the case, the U-239, then that decays to Plutonium-239. Pu239 was measured in DU residues, also U236, but it was explained away as due to contamination in the source material when we were told on the DUOB . So there is minimal damage to property with this weapon, and it is PERFECT for Fallujah and Gaza and anywhere where the enemy is sheltered behind concrete walls. Yeltsin called it the capitalist bomb. T2 + D2 ===>n0 + He4.

The neutrons naturally kick U234 up to U235. Dell Guidice said the they kick U238 up to U239 which is metastable and decays to U235 plus an alpha. Thats where he thought the U235 came from. Myself I think from U234 (of which there is a fair amount in DU as I know from my Hiroshima black rain research findings, the Rocky Flats table. Of course also there will be activation products in local materials, soil concrete etc. Ca-45 is one. I obtained some concrete from the Baghdad airport after the US blew up the Republican Guard who were defending it. There was a big flash and they were all found dead in their bunkers the next day. The US would not let IAEA in to measure anything for 6 months and carted the debris into the desert. Note that Co-60 is a activation product which wpould have been in the steel. Metal guns, metal shelding, reinforcing rods etc.  Prof Ali Khobeisi (also dead) measured residual gamma in the Khiam Lebanon crater in 2006, radiation which disappeared over 6 weeks. About 10 times background. That is a acceptable decay for the neutron activation fallout in soil. I am sure I am right.It is a very big story, but I will be written off as a nutter as usual.What we need is some samples and gamma measurements taken with a Geiger immediately after the explosion and for a few days to check the half life of the residual gamma.

Radiological hazard assessments of radionuclides in building materials, soils and sands from the Gaza Strip and the north of Sinai Peninsula Mona M. Abd Elkader, Taeko Shinonaga & Mohamed M. Sherif Scientific Reports volume 11, Article number: 23251 (2021) Radiological hazards to the residents of the Gaza Strip, Palestine and the north of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, were determined using the naturally occurring radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in 69 samples of building materials (demolition debris, plasters, concretes, from recycling plants and raw cements from suppliers), soils and sands collected in the field. The radiological hazard indices and dose rates calculated with the activity concentrations of radionuclides in those materials determined by gamma-ray spectrometry indicate that the values are all within the global limits recommended by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation 2000 and European Commission 1999. The results of Spearman’s correlation and hierarchical cluster analysis for 210Pb in the building materials, soils and sands suggest that the samples include 210Pb from the atmospheric fallout. The medium correlation between 232Th and 40K in demolition debris implies that their activity concentrations are characteristic of the building materials and constituents of the demolition debris. Non-natural ratio of 238U/235U was found in the soil and sand samples collected in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, 137Cs and 241Am were detected in some soil, sand and demolition debris samples analyzed in this study. The origins of those anthropogenic radionuclides were considered.

Israeli forces shot dead five Palestinians in the city of Jenin late on Saturday and early Sunday, and killed three others elsewhere in the West Bank, the ministry said on Sunday. Six other Palestinians were injured in the Israeli raid in Jenin. Palestinian news agency Wafa said Israeli forces stormed Jenin “from several directions, firing bullets and surrounding government hospitals and the headquarters of the Red Crescent Society”. The raids come despite an ongoing four-day truce between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas in the war-torn Gaza Strip, where nearly 15,000 Palestinians, including more than 6,000 children, have been killed in Israeli strikes. Israeli officials said 1,200 people were killed in the surprise Hamas attack on October 7, when the Palestinian group took about 240 people captive. On Saturday, Hamas released 13 Israeli and four Thai captives, while Israel released a first batch of 39 Palestinian prisoners in exchange. More Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners are expected to be freed on Sunday. Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan More Than a Year Ago A blueprint reviewed by The Times laid out the attack in detail. Israeli officials dismissed it as aspirational and ignored specific warnings. Several men holding rifles sit and ride in an olive green military vehicle driving down a dusty road. Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out. The approximately 40-page document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people. The translated document, which was reviewed by The New York Times, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters. Hamas followed the blueprint with shocking precision. The document called for a barrage of rockets at the outset of the attack, drones to knock out the security cameras and automated machine guns along the border, and gunmen to pour into Israel en masse in paragliders, on motorcycles and on foot — all of which happened on Oct. 7. The plan also included details about the location and size of Israeli military forces, communication hubs and other sensitive information, raising questions about how Hamas gathered its intelligence and whether there were leaks inside the Israeli security establishment. The document circulated widely among Israeli military and intelligence leaders, but experts determined that an attack of that scale and ambition was beyond Hamas’s capabilities, according to documents and officials. Denis Healey, 53, managed to guide the Dignity to a Lebanese port after the collision, which left it badly damaged. Two Israeli gunboats had shadowed the 20-metre yacht in the early hours before one of them rammed it without warning. He spoke of ‘panic stations’ on the Gibraltar-flagged Dignity after the pre-dawn collision in international waters. Two Israeli gunboats had been shadowing the 20-meter motor yacht for half-an-hour, ‘shining powerful search-lights at us, blinding us,’ Healey said. ‘Then, without provocation or any warning we were rammed. It was a blow to the front port side. It wiped out the wheel house and took away some of the upper deck.’ Healey, a Cyprus-based marine engineer from Portsmouth, said the Israeli Navy had made no radio contact before the collision nor fired any warning shots. ‘They told us to turn back to Cyprus. When Mr Mabhouh arrived back at the hotel at 8.24pm, dressed in a checked shirt, jacket and jeans and carrying a white plastic bag, he had just minutes to live. After he went back to his room, the female member of the hit team emerged from her room, grinning broadly, as the four burly members of the alleged assassination team went to work. Footage of what happened next has not been released by police, but at some point during the 22 minutes which followed, Mr Mabhouh probably opened his door to his killers, who pinned him down and suffocated him. They somehow managed to lock the door from the inside and put the latch and chain in place before they left. Tellingly, when the four alleged assassins caught a lift back down to the lobby, one of them was wearing a bandage on his arm. By 10.30pm the woman and “Daveron” were at Dubai airport to catch a flight to Paris, followed over the next 12 hours by the rest of the team, who flew to such scattered destinations as Frankfurt, Hong Kong and South Africa. By the time Mr Mabhouh’s body was found at 1.30pm on Jan 20, when he failed to check out of his room, his killers were thousands of miles away.

Bristol Beacon revamp costs spiral again by £25m to £132m Bristol City Council cabinet set to approve loan that will cost authority £2.3m in repayment annually for 50 years – The cost of the Bristol Beacon revamp has spiralled yet again by another £25million and now stands at an eye-watering £132million – almost three times the original amount. City council taxpayers will have to sink even more cash into the money-pit refurbishment of the Victorian concert hall at a time when the authority has announced widespread cuts to services including social care, libraries, parks and the council tax reduction scheme for the poorest families. Mayor Marvin Rees’s cabinet is set to approve the increased bill that will come from additional borrowing to be paid back at £2.3million annually over the next 50 years, which means the local authority will have that much less every single year for the next half century. Members are also expected to cut all funding to Bristol Music Trust (BMT) which runs the city centre venue on behalf of the council.

Is the evacuation a ruse? Do the council plan to sell Barton House to a private developer? 400 Barton House residents had to leave block of flats, due to safety concerns. Marvin on Points West on the evacuation. The Bristol Carnival. The Harbour Festival. Barton House evacuation: Was the chaos and confusion completely unnecessary? With a lack of clear information from the council, rumours and speculation ruled as residents decanted from their homes were left in the dark about what was going on. Danielle Gregory was a resident of a high rise on the Ledbury estate, in south-east London, which was evacuated in 2017 after safety checks following the Grenfell Tower fire found that the building had been at risk of collapse for decades. Southwark Council, which owned the blocks, sent letters to residents of the 242 flats saying they would need to decant the blocks temporarily for emergency works. It immediately ordered the gas supplies to be cut off, leaving residents without cooking facilities or heating. Like Barton House, which was completed in the late 1950s, the Ledbury blocks were constructed using a method called large panel system (LPS), where huge concrete sections of the building were bolted together on site. The same technique was used at Ronan Point, a tower in east London which partially collapsed in 1968 due to a gas explosion. The construction method was blamed for the incident, in which four people died. A notable difference between how the Ledbury and Barton House evacuations were handled, Danielle says, is that in the former, the council’s crisis planning management appears to have been thought through properly. “Immediately [Southwark Council] put up a satellite office that was open 24/7 so people had someone to speak to, face to face,” she says. “They published a daily newsletter, employed extra staff, every block had a named person residents could call, and the Red Cross was involved.” “Southwark did put a lot in place, and it seems like Bristol really haven’t organised themselves,” says Danielle, a social justice advocate who founded the Ledbury Action Group. “It’s really unbelievable, I don’t think I’ve seen a worse case of decanting an LPS block. “I don’t know where [Bristol] was getting their advice from. Where was their crisis response? She says there may well be a reason that the block needed to be evacuated in this way, but that the council had failed to give a good reason why. “As far as I’m aware, Bristol is the first local authority to undertake an immediate full evacuation of an LPS block following discovery that it doesn’t meet safety standards… we need to know why that is.” She says it’s clear the poor communication and organisation is continuing, referring to the reports that residents have been moved to hotels infested with bed bugs and chicken pox outbreaks, while the council continues to charge them rent. “The way these people are being dealt with is really quite disturbing,” Danielle adds. “And that they still have to pay rent, that’s absolutely ridiculous. There should be a rent freeze straight away. In fact, I believe they should be entitled to some rent they have paid back.” 

Sister Nwanyi, from the board of the Kuumba Centre, explains how the present leadership is being evicted through the courts by Bristol Council with no proper explanation. Community standoff with council over eviction threat of beloved Kuumba Centre in St Pauls The space next to Stokes Croft has served the local community for decades but activists are now fighting to secure its long-term future. “When I moved to Bristol to be with my family, this was the first place I went to,” recalls Jenny*, a member of the St Paul’s community in her early 20’s. “I was welcomed by people of my age, my parents’ age, and my grandparents’ age – it’s like I could meet anyone here.” She is chatting to the Cable at the locked Kuumba Centre on Hepburn Road, next to Stokes Croft, where a multi-ethnic group of people is occupying the well-known space 24 hours a day. It has served the local community for decades, but is now under the threat of eviction by Bristol City Council. Our visit takes place on Thursday 28 September – the date by which the council had ordered Kuumba’s management board to vacate the building. At a crowded meeting the night before, supporters voted to keep the current board – who have been in charge for 12 years – and agreed that, if necessary, individuals would occupy the building and physically block the bailiffs. During the meeting, plans were made over bowls of ital soup to sleep in the space and maintain occupation to prevent eviction. As yet, no bailiffs had arrived, and the group – some of whom request anonymity and to be called ‘Friends of Kuumba’ – remain cautious but hopeful.

Since then, an uneasy silence has fallen. ‘We want to collaborate’ “There’s a reason so many different shades of people come [here], under a sense of common unity to be in the space, to utilise the space, and to activate in this space,” says another local activist. “There are very few places like that, especially with a board as unique as it is.” Issues at Kuumba arose after a council health and safety inspection in early 2022. Despite minor aesthetic defects, the space was deemed structurally sound. In October 2022 though, the board received the first of three letters from the council, citing a lease breach. Despite addressing concerns, a letter in November deemed the Kuumba Project – which has been in charge since the charity previously managing the premises collapsed in 2010 – squatters and trespassers. The centre’s premises licence was revoked, impacting income from late-night events, a major source of funds – and the Kuumba Project was initially asked to hand back the building by 23 May 2023.

Mixed race Bristol mayor Marvin Rees and slavery legacy of Bristol – Colston Statue.  Colston statue to go on permanent display in new racial justice exhibition 80 per cent of Bristol residents who responded to a survey thought this was the best place for it The toppled statue of Bristol slave trader Edward Colston is to be put back on display – permanently – in the M-Shed museum, and council chiefs have to apply for planning permission to do it. The statue, which was pulled down and pushed into the Floating Harbour back in June 2020, is a listed monument, so formal planning consent is required to ‘regularise’ the fact that it’s no longer on its plinth and won’t be returned there. The plan is for the statue to form one of the exhibits in a new M Shed exhibition, which will open in March 2024 and ‘refresh’ the theme of ‘Protest’ in the People gallery. The current exhibition outlines the history of protest and rebellion in Bristol, and that current exhibition is set to be refreshed, expanded to include a section on the fight for racial justice, and updated to include the Colston statue and tell the story of what happened on that Sunday in June 2020. Around a year after the statue was toppled, it was put on display in a temporary exhibition at the M Shed which told the story of Colston and the recent toppling. That exhibition was criticised for not including any mention of the Society of Merchant Venturers – either their involvement in the slave trade, in developing the so-called ‘cult of Colston’ in late Victorian times, or in defending his legacy in the 21st century. A survey around that exhibition found that, of nearly 14,000 people who took part, 80 per cent of Bristol residents said the best place for the statue in the future would be in one of the museums. Since then, the Colston statue has been kept in storage at the M Shed and is only available to be viewed as part of the museum’s ‘behind the scenes’ tours. Now, it will be put back on display in a wider exhibition about racial justice in Bristol.

Gaza four day ceasefire and release of hostages and prisoners.  Fact-Checking21st Century Censorship: Dr Judith Brown  –  Dr Judith Brown’s experiences in Lebanon showed her that the mainstream media news cannot be trusted. It portrays to the public the narrative desired by those in power. It does not speak truth to power.   Having become aware of the limitations of media honesty, and possessing substantial medical knowledge as a nurse, Brown identified the anti-factual propaganda surrounding the Covid19 crisis. She waited for the medical profession to speak out against the alarmist narrative, and waited … and waited. As those few brave, well-qualified critical voices were then silenced, censored and excluded, she was intrigued, and started to investigate the mechanisms of information control: the fact-checkers.  She found a vast, secretive and extremely well-funded network that is controlling the narrative on social media and mainstream media alike. The fact-checkers are the censorship mechanism, the means of silencing debate and pathologising intellectual inquiry.   Amongst the most egregious examples of the falsity of the fact-checkers has been the response to those people injured (or bereaved) due to the Covid19 vaccine side effects. While there is not the slightest doubt that the harm is real, the fact-checkersand the social media networks who direct their activitiesclosed these people down. Their testimony, although truthful, was not acceptable. All this was done under the lying banners of fact-checking (Gleichschaltung) and protection of the public (fr Ihre Sicherheit). When challenged on their errors and bias, the fact-checkers, like the ratings agencies in the aftermath of the sub-prime lending crisis, retreat to the position that their pronouncements are simply an opinion and thus protected in law. It is, of course, touted as an opinion only once clearly proved wrong. It is at that point that fact-checking is clad anew as the defence of democratic values and Western civilisation against the pernicious effects of misinformationfor just as long as that pompous position can be maintained. The funding of this network, and the inevitable truism that he who pays the piper calls the tune, means that truth is not on the agenda. It is the official narrative that is defended, however transparently false it be. The result is control of the entire public discourse, in both the political sphere and in the public square. Arrogance abounds as the ignorant, the compromised and the complicit define a new truth. No longer does factual it mean in accordance with reality; instead, it means in accordance with the official canon.

The inquest highlighted the risks faced by journalists at the coalface. “No story is worth dying for,” says the National Union of Journalists’ broadcasting organiser Paul McLaughlin. It was a sentiment which ITN’s veteran reporter Terry Lloyd would have shared. The 50-year-old correspondent was married, with two children, and his friend and colleague Sir Trevor McDonald described him as a “journalist’s journalist” but “not a risk taker”. His death did not come about through negligence or foolhardiness, the Oxfordshire Assistant Deputy Coroner Andrew Walker made clear. Mr McLaughlin agreed: “ITN did everything they possibly could have done. He was one of their most experienced reporters and this was not a case of a cavalier lack of preparation.” Mr Lloyd and his Lebanese interpreter Hussein Osman were killed on 22 March 2003 just south of Basra in southern Iraq. French cameraman Fred Nerac is missing presumed dead. A fourth man in the crew, Belgian Daniel Demoustier, survived the incident but told the inquest: “I was absolutely sure I was going to die. I was 100% sure.”

Finkelstein moves from an interrogation of the place the Holocaust has come to occupy in American culture to a disturbing examination of recent Holocaust compensation agreements. It was not until the Arab-Israeli War of 1967, when Israel’s evident strength brought it into line with US foreign policy, that memory of the Holocaust began to acquire the exceptional prominence it enjoys today. Leaders of America’s Jewish community were delighted that Israel was now deemed a major strategic asset and, Finkelstein contends, exploited the Holocaust to enhance this newfound status. Their subsequent interpretations of the tragedy are often at variance with actual historical events and are employed to deflect any criticism of Israel and its supporters. Recalling Holocaust fraudsters such as Jerzy Kosinski and Binjamin Wilkomirski, as well as the demagogic constructions of writers like Daniel Goldhagen, Finkelstein contends that the main danger posed to the memory of Nazism’s victims comes not from the distortions of Holocaust deniers but from prominent, self-proclaimed guardians of Holocaust memory. The controversial deal for the “federated data platform” to join up medical information across the health service is expected to be announced shortly, after a series of delays. Palantir, the tech giant founded by Peter Thiel, a US Republican party donor, has long been the frontrunner for the contract. The company, best known for its work with intelligence and military agencies in the US, put in a joint bid with professional services company Accenture for the platform, in the biggest IT contract in NHS history. In the UK, Palantir built the Covid dashboard, which saw data on vaccines, Covid deaths and hospitalisations tracked daily during the pandemic, and helped coordinate the vaccine rollout. The planned software platform would join up existing NHS data in a bid to speed up diagnosis and reduce waiting times and hospital stays. Dogged by controversy Sir Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer for England, is a keen advocate of the platform, saying that the ability to bring a wealth of data now held in separate systems will improve patient safety and secure medical advances. The plans have been dogged by controversy, with scepticism about the NHS’s record on major projects and data handling and concern about the involvement of the US company. Earlier this year, Mr Thiel – a supporter of Donald Trump – told the Oxford Union that Britain’s affection for the NHS is akin to “Stockholm syndrome”, saying the NHS “makes people sick”. A spokesman for the company later said he was speaking as a private individual, in comments that do not in any way reflect the views of Palantir. Mr Thiel last month spoke at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, with a lecture entitled The Diversity Myth. The British Medical Association has argued against awarding the contract to Palantir, saying on Monday that “without proper oversight and protections, patient data could be at significant risk”. Ministers keen to avoid past errors Health officials say the software will allow analysts to spot patterns in illness and use resources better, while ministers have said it will not be able to see individuals’ data. Ministers are also keen to avoid errors made in the past, with a previous attempt at record sharing abandoned in 2016 following a backlash about the way the scheme had been handled. Palantir had been seen by rivals as holding advantages over other bidders, having been awarded a £25 million interim contract to “transition” data to the new system this summer. The company has said it is “not in the business of collecting, mining or selling data”, saying it provides customers with tools to organise and understand their own organisations.

President-elect’s idea is a gamble that is likely to crash an economy paying the price for mistakes of his predecessor Javier Milei’s bigger-than-expected victory in the Argentinan presidential election suggests voters in South America’s second biggest country have willingly opted for shock treatment to sort out the country’s deep economic malaise. It is perhaps not hard to see why 56% of the electorate backed the rightwing libertarian: Argentina may have the world’s best football team but its economy has performed disastrously in recent years. Inflation is running at 140% and a three-year drought has led to a sharp fall in agricultural production. Two out of five people live in poverty and the currency has lost 90% of its value in four years. Milei’s big idea involves abolishing the peso and for Argentina to use the US dollar instead. A milder form of this policy was tried in the early 1990s, when – after a previous episode of recession and hyperinflation – the government in Buenos Aires fixed the exchange rate at one peso to the dollar. This strategy, known as convertibility, was abandoned in 2002 after a deep recession and violent street protests against restrictions on bank withdrawals made it untenable. Argentina’s president-elect says he wants to go further. Under his proposal, the country’s central bank would in effect be abolished and the economy fully “dollarised”. This would mean monetary policy for Argentina being set in Washington rather than Buenos Aires. Other countries – Panama and Ecuador – have gone down this route but never one as big as Argentina, which is a member of the G20 group of leading developed and developing nations. There are some obvious problems with Milei’s economic experiment. The first is that Argentina and the US are very different economies, and so what might be the right monetary policy for the latter may be the wrong one for the former. Countries have to be careful about giving up the freedom to set their own interest rates and devalue their currencies.

The Economist – what will 3rd World War mean for investors? – Global conflicts have a habit of sneaking up on money-managers – Europe had been moving towards the slaughterhouse for years, and by 1914 a conflict was all but inevitable—that, at least, is the argument often made in hindsight. Yet at the time, as Niall Ferguson, a historian, noted in a paper published in 2008, it did not feel that way to investors. For them, the first world war came as a shock. Until the week before it erupted, prices in the bond, currency and money markets barely budged. Then all hell broke loose. “The City has seen in a flash the meaning of war,” wrote this newspaper on August 1st 1914. Could financial markets once again be underpricing the risk of a global conflict? In the nightmare scenario, the descent into a third world war began two years ago, as Russian troops massed on the Ukrainian border. Today Israel’s battle against Hamas has the frightening potential to spill across its borders. American military support is crucial to both Ukraine and Israel, and in Iraq and Syria the superpower’s bases have come under fire, probably from proxies of Iran. Should China decide it is time to take advantage of a distracted superpower and invade Taiwan, America could all too easily end up being drawn into three wars at once. The rest of the world risks those wars interlocking and turning into something even more devastating. This scenario would of course place financial damage a long way down the list of horrors. Even so, it is part of an investor’s job to consider exactly what it would mean for their portfolio. So far the possibility of a world war has barely caused a tremor in the markets. True, they have for some time now been more seized by fear than greed. Bond prices have been turbulent, even for supposedly risk-free American Treasuries, and yields have been climbing for most of this year. Stock indices in America, China and Europe have fallen for three consecutive months. Yet this choppiness can all be plausibly explained by peacetime factors, including outsized government borrowing, interest-rate expectations and shareholders whose previous optimism had got the better of them. In short, it does not look anything like the panic you might expect if the odds of the world entering into war were edging higher. The brightest conclusion is that such odds really are close to zero. A darker one is that, like the investors of 1914, today’s may soon be blindsided. History points to a third possibility: that even if investors expect a major war, there is little they can do to reliably profit from it. The easiest way to understand this is to imagine yourself in 1914, knowing that the first world war was about to arrive. You would need to place your bets quickly—within weeks, the main exchanges in London, New York and continental Europe would be closed. They would stay that way for months. Would you be able to guess how many, and which way the war might have turned by then? If you wisely judged American stocks to be a good bet, would you have managed to trade with a broker who avoided bankruptcy amid a liquidity crisis? You might have decided, again wisely, to trim positions in soon-to-be war-strained government debt. Would you have guessed that Russian bonds, which would experience a communist revolution and Bolshevik-driven default, were the ones to dump completely? War, in other words, involves a level of radical uncertainty far beyond the calculable risks to which most investors have become accustomed. This means that even previous world wars have limited lessons for later ones, since no two are alike. Mr Ferguson’s paper shows that the optimal playbook for 1914 (buy commodities and American stocks; sell European bonds, stocks and currencies) was of little use in the late 1930s. Investors in that decade did try to learn from history. Anticipating another world war, they sold continental European stocks and currencies. But this different war had different winning investments. British stocks beat American ones, and so did British government bonds. Today there is a greater and more terrible source of uncertainty, since many of the potential belligerent powers wield nuclear weapons. Yet in a sense, this has little financial relevance. After all, in a nuclear conflagration your portfolio would be unlikely to rank highly among your priorities. The upshot of it all? That the fog of war is even thicker for investors than it is for military generals, who at least have sight of the action. If the worst happens, future historians might wonder about the seeming insouciance of today’s investors. They will only be able to do so because, for them, the fog will have cleared…..

Germany banning Palestinian protests – German Reischburger movement arrests  – Germany gears up crackdown on far-right Reichsburger movement – Police officers in Germany searched the homes of about 20 people Thursday in connection with investigations into the far-right Reichsburger, or the Reich Citizens movement. Reichsburger adherents reject the legitimacy of Germany’s postwar constitution and have similarities to followers of the QAnon movement in the United States. The suspects, aged between 25 and 74, are accused of forming a criminal organization, officials said. They “insulted and in some cases massively threatened state institutions across Germany on a large scale, mainly via social media,” Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said, according to German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa). About 280 officers raided the suspects’ properties in eight German states: Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Hamburg and Lower Saxony. Authorities seized a blank-firing weapon, irritant devices and smartphones. Prosecutors in Munich, who were in charge of the raids, said the suspects’ aim was to destabilize Germany and its institutions. Last month, police also searched homes of other Reichsbuerger members who were allegedly connected to United Patriots, which Germany considers to be a terrorist group. Five suspects were arrested at the time. In December, more than two dozen people were arrested in connection with plans to topple the government. Among the accused plotters was a member of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AFD) party. Germany’s domestic intelligence estimates that around 23,000 people across Germany belong to the Reichsburger scene.

Hundreds take to Bristol’s streets to call for ceasefire in Gaza – Marchers called for a ceasefire and an end to arming Israel’s offensive – Campaigners calling for a ceasefire in the war in Gaza gathered in their hundreds in Bristol city centre, Saturday (November 18). Following weeks of similar protests, the march once again demanded an end to the military campaign that is estimated to have killed more than 12,000 people since the October 7 attack on Israel that saw more than 1,200 people killed by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The march was organised by Bristol’s Palestine Solidarity Campaign and started just after midday, leaving Castle Park and passing through Broadmead before ending their protest on College Green. Alongside calls for a ceasefire in the conflict, many marchers demanded an end to the arming of Israel in their offensive. Bristol’s Palestine Solidarity Campaign said after the march: “Britain’s political class overwhelmingly supports Israel’s war on Gaza, even though the British public backs the call for a cease-fire. One of the biggest protest movements in living memory is defying threats of state repression to challenge this complicity.”

David Cameron’s Secret Nuclear Weapons Deal Raised £17.8m for Conservative Party Funds – Sets Pretext for War Sometimes you come across a story that seems so unbelievable that you simply can’t absorb and process the information properly. It doesn’t compute or make much sense – until an investigation produces evidence. The allegation is this. David Cameron sold three nuclear weapons of a foreign state, put them in unsafe hands and the Conservative party banks nearly £19 million which then sets the pretext for a conflict that kills a million people. Conspiracy theory? Fake news? Read on. South Africa – A nuclear state armed by Israel Although UN Security Council Resolution 418 of 4 November 1977 introduced a mandatory arms embargo against South Africa, requiring all states to refrain from “any co-operation with South Africa in the manufacture and development of nuclear weapons”, it was with the help of the Israelis that the apartheid regime designed and built a total of 10 fully operational nuclear weapons.[1] One device was successfully tested in 1979, which left 9 nuclear weapons in South Africa’s stockpile.[2][3] In August 1988, foreign minister Pik Botha announced that South Africa had “the capability to make one [a nuclear weapon]” should it want to do so. A month later, in September 1988, South Africa sent a letter to IAEA Director-General Hans Blix expressing willingness to accede to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if certain conditions were met, primarily that South Africa be allowed to market its uranium subject to IAEA safeguards. In summary, South Africa operated a covert nuclear ballistic missile program. The United Nations introduced a mandatory arms embargo against South Africa in the development and manufacture of such weapons. Israel assisted anyway. The result was that nine nuclear weapons were left after testing. The purpose was to prove to international markets it had that capability and was willing to sell that capability to willing buyers. He wrote a series on the subject of the UK’s involvement in the selling of South Africa’s nuclear weapons. Eyre writes that David Cameron visited South Africa in 1989 accompanied by Conservative MP, Sir Kenneth Warren, and nuclear weapons inspector, Dr David Kelly. Kelly had made a number of earlier visits having been given access to the covert nuclear weapons research facility at Pelindaba, near Pretoria. An excerpt from part two of his documentation [4]: “I find it amazing that David Cameron and others traveled to South Africa during the embargo period and not only violated international law but also violated international law in dealing with nuclear weapons that were not known to the UN. Just like Klaus Schwab (funny, that!), Blair chooses the word “agile” to describe this new kind of governance. He wants to see “far deeper state investment in technological and AI-era infrastructure, utilising cloud and modern software”. And “a new treatment of data as a competitive asset, which can, for example, stimulate innovation in health”. That’s about impact investment, by the way. He also, somewhat predictably, calls for “a greater alignment between the government and private sector to mobilise effectively behind clear purposes, such as around climate”. Blair sees the need for “a greater appetite for risk and innovation, with greater expertise from the outside informing direction”. Maybe Rothschild & Co have some suggestions regarding the possible source of such “expertise”? Blair goes on: “The United Kingdom has been at the forefront of many of these breakthroughs and was home to one of humanity’s great leaps: the Industrial Revolution. “Another revolution is now taking place with developments in AI, a technology with a level of impact akin to the internal combustion engine, electricity and the internet, so incrementalism will not be enough”. This would facilitate the impact agenda by imposing digital health accounts, with data held centrally in a “new NHS cloud infrastructure” and “used as a collective national asset to help our life-science sector to be world-leading”. For “life-science sector” read the highly profitable Biotech and Big Pharma empires with which the Rothschilds have long been closely linked, as I have previously set out. Just to make sure we get the point, Blair’s report envisages “turning the Genomic Medicine Service into a fully fledged part of the health system, providing whole-genome sequencing to all patients”. Privatisation is very much on the Blair agenda. He want to give his proposed Integrated Care Systems “multi-year budgets so they can redeploy efficiency savings, use private providers freely and allow patient choice across GP practices and hospitals in their region”. Schoolkids are on the Blair radar as well. His proposals for “reforming” education include: “1. Establishing a digital learner ID that would contain all educational information, enabling a personalised education for every child. “2. Increasing parent choice and access to quality education by giving schools the freedom to provide hybrid lessons and parents the right to request online classes delivered by other schools, incentivising schools to improve performance. “3. Overhauling Ofsted so that accountability is based on real-time insights and geared towards continuous improvement of standards”. Real-time insights means permanent digital surveillance so that educational “outcomes” can be assessed and traded by the financial parasites of the impact industry. Meanwhile, his solution to the need for “safer communities” is “an expansion of facial recognition technology” and his idea of caring for the environment is to call for “A Decade of Electrification”! Although Blair has publicly accepted the Brexit decision, he would like to see “a better relationship with the EU”, which would involve “deepening the existing security partnership” and establishing a new “strategic pillar” on foreign policy, defence and security within the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement Finally, I have described elsewhere how the Swiss-based Edmond de Rothschild entity, in setting out its support for the whole totalitarian Great Reset agenda, used the slogan: “We are bold builders of the future”. Zurich Financial Services, the Swiss-based business that employed Blair in 2008, declares its desire to “create a brighter future together”. Erdogan also hit out at the United Nations Security Council, which “failed” at protecting the lives of Gazan civilians, “even their own employees.” He said “a few countries” trampled on the will of the 121 countries who voted for the implementation of a cease-fire at the United Nations General Assembly. “Israeli ministers say they have nuclear bombs, but IAEA does not take action. Those tolerating the burning of the Quran on the grounds that it is freedom of expression detain people with conscience who protest the massacre in Gaza,” he said, referring to the detention of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Western countries. The president reiterated his call for world leaders to do something. “They marched in Paris after 23 people were killed in France (after the Charlie Hebdo attack in 2015). Now thousands of people were killed, but we don’t see heads of state. This means (this conflict) is about conflict between The Cross and The Crescent,” Erdogan said.

HRW says the next part of the infrastructure to fail will be the communication network. “The Israeli government’s decision to bar delivery of fuel to Gaza will trigger a complete communications blackout imminently if not urgently addressed, further endangering the lives of Gaza’s population, Human Rights Watch said today,” reads the report published on Wednesday. “Israel should allow desperately needed fuel into Gaza and refrain from deliberately shutting down or destroying telecommunications systems that cause disproportionate harm to civilians.” The organization’s senior technology researcher, Deborah Brown, said the blackout could be exploited to commit undocumented war crimes. “Intentional, blanket shutdowns or restrictions on access to the internet violate multiple rights and can be deadly during crises,” she explained. “Prolonged and complete communications blackouts, like those experienced in Gaza, can provide cover for atrocities and breed impunity while further undermining humanitarian efforts and putting lives at risk.”

Back then, Taupo, located at the centre of New Zealand’s north island, exploded in what was known as the Oruanui eruption. It covered the island in as much as seven inches of ash, with material thought to have been deposited a staggering 620 miles away. What makes supervolcanoes different is their magnitude the Volcano Explosivity Index (VEI) which comes in at an eight, meaning at one point in time they erupted more than 1,000 cubic kilometres (240 cubic miles) of material.

The US’s Yellowstone caldera is one such supervolcano and has for decades seriously concerned volcanologists who fear that humans won’t be able to do anything to prevent the fallout from a future eruption. Located in Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park is as beautiful as they come, but beneath its surface hides the huge caldera home to a supervolcano. It has remained dormant for more than 600,000 years, but some scientists fear that the sleeping giant might one day wake. Pressure beneath the park’s surface has mounted for thousands of years and is occasionally released by the various geysers which have popped up from the ground. In the event of an eruption, heat rising deep beneath the volcano would make its way upwards and melt the molten rock just below the ground surface, creating a mixture of magma, rock, vapour, carbon dioxide and other gases. A dome will eventually build and cause the ground to rise, and eventually blow its lid, covering neighbouring states Montana and Idaho in volcanic magma and ash. According to HowStuffWorks, the initial blast would “immediately” kill an astonishing 90,000 people — and that’s only the start. The blast would send three metres of magma across 1,000 miles of land, preventing rescue teams from reaching certain areas and the blast site itself which would lead to loss of life. Ash sent spiralling into the atmosphere would stop all travel within a few hundred miles radius, similar to what happened when Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010. This ash would travel around the world and lead to something known as a ‘nuclear winter’, with ash and debris blocking out sunlight and forcing temperatures to drop. The climate would shift with massive amounts of sulphur dioxide being sent into the atmosphere which may form a sulphur aerosol that reflects and absorbs sunlight. With a temperature drop of up to 10C, crops would fail to grow which would lead to famine in large parts of the world. While the aftereffects of a Yellowstone eruption would undoubtedly change the way the world works, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates there is around a 0.00014 percent chance each year that the potentially catastrophic volcano could blow.

Based on still images from the video, Sutton said he figures Poseidon could be about 2 meters (6.5 feet) wide and 20 meters (66 feet) long, with room for a nuclear reactor in the center and a large thermonuclear warhead toward the front. “It is really fantastic,” Putin said of the device in March, adding, “there is simply nothing in the world capable of withstanding them.” The Russian government reportedly leaked a diagram of a Poseidon-like weapon in 2015 that suggested it would carry a 50-megaton nuclear bomb about as powerful as Tsar Bomba, the largest nuclear device ever detonated. In a 2015 article in Foreign Policy, Jeffrey Lewis, an expert on nuclear policy at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, dubbed the hypothetical weapon “Putin’s doomsday machine.” Nuclear physicists say such a weapon detonated below the ocean’s surface could trigger a local tsunami, causing great devastation. US nuclear tests of the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s, including the underwater operations Crossroads Baker and Hardtack I Wahoo, demonstrated why.
