A court victory by Harry Miller of Faircop is a huge relief to those of us who ALLEGEDLY have one of these stupid NCHIs on their police record. I was told I had one by the editor of the Morning Star. After FOI and SAR requests, complaints to police chief and PCC and numerous legal letters from the FSU, A&S police STILL refuse to either release information to me, or state that they do NOT hold an NCHI against me. As the Judge said, just the existence of these things has a ” chilling effect” on public discourse, and on freedom of expression. Here is my cartoon, for which I allegedly have an NCHI. Just as with Harry Miller, this was a legitimate journalistic comment, in my role as political cartoonist for a national newspaper, on the proposed reform of the GRA2004 and the risk to women’s safe spaces.

Protestors clash outside a Drag Queen Story Hour for children in Bristol.  Antifa vs women’s rights group.  Antifa masked protestors.  Manipulation of protest movements by police and secret services.  One person arrested at Drag Queen Story Time protest – A woman arrested by police as protesters clashed outside a number of Bristol libraries, where a drag queen was reading stories to parents and children, has been released. The woman, who has not been named, was detained by police and put into the back of a police van after an allegation of common assault on a man was made during heated scenes outside a library in Bristol today. The police were in attendance at a succession of libraries across Bristol today, Thursday, July 28, to enable the Drag Queen Story Hour events to take place as part of a summer children’s reading initiative. A number of people from outside of Bristol came to protest outside each library as the storytime tour visited around three libraries across the city during the day – with another three planned tomorrow (Friday). And at each protest, they were met by counter-protesters supporting the initiative and the Drag Queen doing the storytelling inside the libraries. After heated exchanges outside Henleaze Library from around 11am saw the event cancelled, the next slot for the stortelling events was at Hillfields Library, where police again tried to separate that protesters. It was at Hillfields that one of the counter-protesters was arrested. Avon and Somerset police confirmed she was later de-arrested after giving her details to officers on the ground, and the incident she was arrested for will now be investigated. The drag queen, protesters against the drag queen, the counter-protesters supporting the drag queen and the police then all headed to Stockwood Library where there were similar scenes again.

A statement from Avon and Somerset police said they had tried to facilitate a peaceful protest and to make sure the event was allowed to take place unhindered. “Police this afternoon detained a woman outside Hillfields Library in connection with an alleged common assault on a man,” the spokesperson said. “The incident happened during a protest and counter-protest about a drag queen touring libraries in Bristol reading a children’s story. “Officers attended to facilitate peaceful protest and enable library staff and visitors, the event organisers and the wider community to go about their lawful business. “The woman was arrested on suspicion of assault after refusing to give officers her details and later de-arrested after confirming her identity to officers. The incident will be recorded and investigated,” he added. Protesters at Drag Queen Story Hour UK at Henleaze Library todaDrag Queen Story Hour UK was set to see drag queen Aida H Dee perform some of her own stories to young children and their parents at half a dozen libraries in Bristol, as part of the Story Hour’s summer tour across the country. The tour began in Reading on Monday, but protesters stormed the event – some with their own children – to protest, which meant police had to get involved and escort the drag queen, who grew up in Bristol, to her next event location while forming a human wall to protect her from assault or any protesters carrying out a ‘citizen’s arrest’. Bristol was one of the first places in the country to host Drag Queen Story Time initiatives for children – with Parson Street School in Bedminster among the first schools in the country to welcome drag queens in to read children’s books to children on World Book Day back in 2017 and 2018, despite some parents’ objections. Bristol City Council issued a statement earlier today supporting the Drag Queen Story Time events, and stating that discrimination and abuse aimed at any community would not be tolerated. Aida H Dee, founder of Drag Queen Story Hour UK, is travelling In the statement, Bristol City Council said: “Drag Queen Story Hour at Bristol Libraries offer children a rich experience in story telling in an interactive way as well as an understanding of different communities. Lessons like this are how we can create a more inclusive society, and educate children about tolerance and difference. “Unfortunately it seems some adults need these lessons too. As well as unacceptable abuse online, some people have decided to go to our library to protest against the session. “We have put security in place and requested a police presence to reduce the risk of threatening behaviour towards the artists involved, our staff, and the parents and children. We will not tolerate any discrimination or abuse aimed at any community and will not stop striving towards creating a more inclusive society, that welcomes difference,” they added. There were more heated scenes on Thursday afternoon as the protesters travelled to Stockwood for the final event. Three more events are planned for tomorrow in Filwood, Henbury and at Junction 3 in Easton. You can find a full list of national dates here.

NHS Tavistock Centre closed – gender alignment for children.  History of Tavistock Centre – WW2, eugenics and Nazis.  Richie Heron, who was a patient there, on GB News.  NHS to close Tavistock child gender identity clinic over safety fears A controversial centre which helped youngsters become transgender is being shut down by the NHS after it was deemed ‘unsafe for children’. Instead, young people who believe that they are trans will now be moved into regional centres which will take a more ‘holistic’ approach to treatment. This will include looking at other mental health or medical issues they may have. Keira Bell, who was prescribed puberty blockers at the centre when she was just 16 years old but later stopped the transition process, welcomed the decision. Now 25, she said: “I’m over the moon. It means many children will be saved from going down that path that I went down. She added: “I thought that that was the way I needed to go (transition) but really I just needed some support… mental health support and some therapy really.” She said medics at the Tavistock moved to prescribe puberty blockers for troubled youngsters far too quickly and instead should have given mental health support first. “We are talking about children here, medicalising children based on the fact that you know they feel a certain way,” she said. She added that children in that position should have been offered mental health support, rather than puberty blockers, in order to get them back to “reality”. “They are messing with children’s lives,” she added. “People at the Tavistock should be ashamed.”

UK National Security Adviser Sir Stephen Lovegrove sounded the chilling alarm amid fears China and Russia are upgrading their weapons of mass destruction.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Gathering by CND.  NATO.  Possibility of nuclear attacks. Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Gathering – Bristol – Join Bristol CND to mark the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan in 1945 which led to the death of 280,0000 people, almost all civilians. Peace groups in Bristol will be running a four-day Peace Gathering near the Peace Tree on Castle Park (half-way along the footpath/cycleway overlooking the Harbour/Finzels Reach). All welcome. The gathering starts with a die-in at 8:15am on Friday 6th– to remember the time Hiroshima was bombed. On following days the gathering will start at 10am and finish at about 6pm. In the evenings, weather permitting, there will be lantern lighting, musicians most welcome, plus a pop-up cinema showing peace and anti-war films. There will be information stalls, an open-air art gallery, plus drop-in discussion-workshops on nuclear weapons, nuclear power, militarism, arms trade, refugees, climate-change and the protest movement. There will also be opportunities for protests at military and nuclear-related sites around the Bristol area. Sunday morning will be available for religious and meditative events. Some people also choose to fast over the four days. On Monday 9th there will be a die-in at 11:02 am to remember the time Nagasaki was bombed. This will be followed by a procession to present a Mayors for Peace petition at City Hall.

Roy Pumphrey, from Stop Hinkley– everything that could go wrong for Hinkley C, has gone wrong.  Hinkley Point B Closure The End of an Error – 27th July 2022 – Hinkley Point B (HPB) may be ending electricity generation on 1st August, but the UK will be left with its legacy of nuclear waste for thousands of years. Hinkley B Nuclear Power Station will be switched off on Monday – but Hinkley C not ready yet.  Stop Hinkley press release.  Nuclear waste.  Energy efficiency.  Even after generating waste for 46 years, we are still not sure what will happen to it other than a vague promise that it will be buried underground in a Geological Disposal Facility a site for which has still not been found. After closure, EDF’s first task will be to agree the safety case with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), for fuel handling and defueling. This should take around 3 months. Then around 300 fuel channels in each of HPB’s two reactors will have to be emptied and the spent fuel transferred to the cooling pond where it will have to remain for at least 90 days. Once cooled, the spent fuel will be transferred to a transport flask and taken by lorry over 10 miles, along country roads, to the railway siding next to Bridgwater station mainline. There it will be loaded onto a train about 100 metres from Eastover Junior School. Over the next three and a half years, the frequency of these transfers could increase to 3 or 4 flasks per week. Between now and 2026 around 350 spent fuel flasks will travel by train from Bridgwater to Sellafield. Reprocessing at Sellafield has now ended, so the spent fuel will be dumped in a temporary store awaiting the time it can be placed in an underground Geological Disposal Facility (GDF). The location for this and the timescale for building it are still anybody’s guess. When defueling is complete, in 2026 if all goes according to plan, ownership of HPB will transfer to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). The NDA will take around 5 or 6 years to prepare the reactors for a period of care and maintenance. Final dismantling is not currently expected to begin until around 2070. The UK Radioactive Waste Inventory as of 1st April 2019 shows a total of 961m3 of low and intermediate level waste stored at HPB, but by around 2117 this is expected to increase to around 14,500m3 with the majority of the waste arising from decommissioning the reactors. The NDA estimates that the total amount of spent AGR fuel which will remain un-reprocessed and require ‘disposal’ will be 4,830 tonnes. We can estimate, roughly, that HPB will be responsible for around one seventh of that, or 690 tonnes. According to the NDA’s 2021 Strategy, the GDF won’t be able to start receiving spent fuel for over 50 years – by 2075. But the NDA isn’t expecting all AGR (and Sizewell B) spent fuel to be buried until 50 years later in 2125 But to get a true picture of the waste generated by HPB, we also need to consider the spent fuel which has previously been reprocessed at Sellafield. This is a process which will have produced solid Intermediate Level Waste and Highly Radioactive Liquid Waste which will have to be constantly cooled and solidified into glass blocks in a process called vitrification. Reprocessing also separates out from the spent fuel weapons-useable plutonium, for which the UK has no use and which will probably have to be processed and then placed in a GDF. According to the NDA, a total of 1,650m3 of High Level Waste will be produced from reprocessing spent fuel from Magnox reactors, like Hinkley Point A, and the AGRs like Hinkley Point B. This will be packaged and in interim storage, hopefully by 2030. The NDA currently expects to place this in a GDF by 2104. An estimated stockpile of 141 tonnes of plutonium should be packaged and in interim storage at Sellafield by 2060. The NDA says this will be re-used or placed in a GDF by 2120. Stop Hinkley Spokesperson Roy Pumfrey said: “Some of these timescales for managing the legacy of waste left over by HPB are truly staggering. EDF’s planned jamboree on Monday (1st August) at HPB conveniently ignores the nuclear waste which has been generated over the past 46 years. Under current plans it will be at least another 100 years before all this dangerous waste is under the ground.” “And the costs are staggering too. EDF’s most recent estimate for decommissioning AGRs like HPB (£23.5bn) suggests it could cost around £3 or £4bn to decommission HPB. The Taxpayer has been asked to top up the decommissioning fund by over £10bn. Past experience suggests these costs will continue rising.” “Monday should not be a day to celebrate the life of HPB. Rather, it’s a day to mourn the production of radioactive waste that is going to have to be carefully and expensively managed and monitored for many generations to come. The good news is – it will be ‘the end of an error’.”

Germany turning off lights due to power shortage – UK may have to soon  The Mail  Roy Pumphrey – EDF in to public ownership. Berlin, Germany’s capital, started turning off 1,400 spotlights highlighting 200 historic monuments and municipal buildings from Wednesday, according to the city’s Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate. “In view of the war against Ukraine and Russia’s energy policy threats, it is important that we use our energy as carefully as possible,” said Bettina Jarasch, Berlin’s senator for the environment. The city of Munich ­ famed for the Oktoberfest beer event ­ has announced it will be switching off spotlights on historic buildings and limiting heating, the DPA reported on Wednesday.

A landmark court judgment has ruled the UK government’s net-zero strategy is in breach of the law – as it doesn’t explain how targets will be met. It also finds that parliament and the public were effectively kept in the dark about a shortfall in meeting a key target to cut emissions. The High Court judgment – published amid the Met Office’s first-ever red alert for extreme heat – said the strategy, which sets out plans to decarbonise the economy, does not meet the government’s obligations under the Climate Change Act. The ruling, from Mr Justice Holgate, states Greg Hands, the minister for business, energy and industrial strategy (BEIS), who was responsible for signing off the net-zero strategy, did not have the legally-required information on how carbon budgets would be met. He nevertheless approved the strategy. The legal challenges were brought by Friends of the Earth, ClientEarth, Good Law Project and environmental campaigner Jo Wheatley, and were heard together at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Part Two – Ukraine/Covid/Climate Round-Up With End Times Prophecy Reports

The Phoniest, Most PR-Intensive War Of All Time – The president and first lady of Ukraine have posed for a romantic photoshoot with Vogue magazine, wherein President Volodymyr Zelensky waxes poetical about his love for his darling wife. Now, I know what youre thinking: how is Zelensky making time for a Vogue photoshoot amidst his busy schedule of PR appearances for other major western institutions? I mean this is after all the same Volodymyr Zelensky who has been so busy making video appearances for the Grammy Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, the World Economic Forum and probably the Bilderberg group as well, and having meetings with celebrities like Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, and Bono and the Edge from U2. Its as busy a PR tour as he could possibly have without having a discussion about the strategic importance of long-range artillery with Elmo on Sesame Street. Oh yeah, and also isnt there like a war or something happening in Ukraine? Youd think hed probably be somewhat busy with that too. Call me crazy, but Im beginning to suspect that there might be a concerted effort to manipulate the way we think about the war in Ukraine. In fact, Id even go so far as to say its the most aggressively perception-managed war weve ever experienced. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February we have not only been smashed with mass media propaganda unlike anything weve ever seen while Russian media are purged from the airwaves, were also seeing the new media element of unprecedented amounts of online censorship, algorithm-boosted propaganda, and social media trolling. So weve literally never seen this much overall effort put into manipulating the way the public thinks about a war. Which makes sense, given that its a profoundly dangerous proxy war which stands to benefit ordinary people in no way, shape or form. I mean, can you imagine if people were allowed to just think their own thoughts about their governments economic warfare against Russia which is hurting them financially and pushing millions toward starvation with the full awareness and approval of the US government? Or if Americans were allowed to wonder if the billions they are pouring into this proxy conflict could be better spent at home? Or if people started objecting to a needless conflict for geostrategic domination threatening their lives and the lives of everyone they know with the risk of nuclear annihilation? Cant have that. There is a night-and-day difference between wanting to tell people the truth about something and wanting to manipulate their perception of something. There are times when true facts can be used to influence peoples perception one way or the other, but if your agenda is to manipulate perception rather than tell the truth you will necessarily be forced to rely on lies, half-truths, distortion, and lies by omission wherever the truth doesn’t serve that agenda. If they were telling us the truth about this war, they wouldn’t be censoring Russian media. They wouldn’t be censoring online voices who disagree with the official narratives about Ukraine. They wouldn’t be continually blasting us in the face with mass media perception management, and they sure as hell wouldn’t be putting Ukraine’s celebrity-in-chief on the cover of Vogue magazine. We are being manipulated, and we are being deceived. And we are being manipulated and deceived because our perceiving clearly on our own would go against the interests of the empire. They are lying to us because the interests of the people and the interests of the empire are, as usual, squarely at odds.

Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, came from a similar career background to Zelenskyy and was a screenwriter before being thrown into public life. The President and First Lady have had to weather the storm of politics together and were provided a morale-boost during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with Zelenska posting an almost 1,000 word letter on her husband’s official website. The letter, addressed “to the global media” was published on International Women’s Day and marks a rare public announcement from the usually reserved Zelenska. The first lady had spent decades out of the spotlight before the war with Ukraine, with few public appearances in-between, The Week reports. Speaking to a local television station at the time, Zelenska said she was “‘aggressively opposed’ to the ‘project'”. She said: “This is a very difficult move, it’s not even a project, it’s another direction in life.” Despite her doubts over the move into national politics, Zelenska stood by her husband, although she didn’t learn of his presidential candidacy until it was announced on social media. In an interview with Vogue, Zelenska says she asked her husband “why didn’t you tell me?” to which the Ukrainian President responded “I forgot”.

The CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 includes $52.7 billion to subsidize the domestic production of semiconductor chips and $24 billion for tax incentives and other purposes. Biden warns he may attack Iran to scare Tehran away from nuclear weapons President Biden Warns He May Attack Iran Every threat from the United States makes Tehran more likely to build a nuclear bomb. For years U.S. presidents have threatened Iran with war, often mouthing the anodyne “all options are on the table.” Joe Biden is the latest to believe that he can scare Tehran away from developing nuclear weapons. On his recent Mideast trip, characterized by putting Saudi Arabia’s and Israel’s interests first, Biden was slightly more honest. On Israeli TV he declared that he would use force to prevent an Iranian bomb “as a last resort.” He still claimed that he wanted to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or nuclear deal, yet he has badly bungled negotiations over restoring Iranian compliance with the agreement. Indeed, the slow-motion transformation of the Biden administration’s Iran policy into that of the Trump administration highlights the manifold weaknesses of the former. One of the worst, most dramatic failures of the Trump administration was its Iran policy. With great fanfare President Donald Trump killed the JCPOA, imposed a plethora of sanctions, and made a dozen demands which amounted to Tehran’s abandonment of an independent foreign policy. Then Trump waited for the mullahs to come crawling to Washington and surrender.

Apoptosis, a genetically regulated form of cell death with distinct biochemical and morphological features, plays a relevant physiological and pathological role in the organism, being pivotal in the maintenance of tissue development and homeostasis in the adult as well as in the regulation of immune responses. Infection of SARS-CoV in Vero E6 cells induces extensive apoptosis through a caspase-3 and p3 MAPK–dependent pathway. Using an rAd-mediated expression system, we assessed the apoptotic effect of the major structural proteins of SARS-CoV, including S, S1, S2, E, M and N protein. Typical features of apoptosis such as cell rounding, shrinkage, nuclear condensation, DNA fragmentation and PE-externalisation were only observed in cells transduced with rAd carrying S and S2, but not S1, nor any other structural proteins studied. These data suggest that the over-expression of SARS-CoV S and S2 could induce apoptosis. The present findings seem to be unique within the coronavirus family. In MHV and IBV, over-expression of S protein did not induce observable apoptosis in vitro. On the other hand, the observed in-vitro apoptotic effects of the VSPs of other coronaviruses, such as the E protein of MHV and the N protein of TGEV, were not observed when we overexpressed the SARS-CoV homologues in Vero E6 cells. Interestingly, the E and N protein of SARS-CoV has been reported to induce apoptosis in Jurkat T and COS-1 cells, respectively, under serum depletion conditions.

The Forde Inquiry largely confirms the disturbing picture presented by the earlier leaked report, finding that Corbyn’s team, backed by a left-wing membership that favoured his democratic socialism, was pitted against right-wing party bureaucracy and a parliamentary party both committed to maintaining the neoliberal priorities of New Labour set by former leader Tony Blair. Party staff saw one of their main tasks as finding pretexts to expel Corbyn supporters, in what they termed “trot busting” and “trot hunting” exercises. Those same senior staff exhibited “deplorably factional and insensitive, and at times discriminatory, attitudes” towards Corbyn supporters. Since Corbyn’s departure, there has been a mass exodus of members disillusioned with the direction the party has been taking. Forde, who was commissioned by Corbyn’s successor, Keir Starmer, to investigate those turbulent years, proposes ways to heal divisions that have threatened to tear Labour apart. He criticises what he calls a “monoculture” and “groupthink” at head office that has left the party’s senior staff unrepresentative of the membership and has damaged Labour’s “overall effectiveness”. Despite its ambitions, however, the 138-page report is unlikely to ease tensions in Labour. Its resolute both-sidism spreads the blame around equally, and in the process ensures no one will be satisfied.

Debbie Hicks on a cashless society and government digital control.  Chips put in right hand – Chinese authorities switch off health passes to prevent protest A stark warning for the rest of the world as to how governments can and will use health apps to block civil liberties and human rights if authorities deem it unfavorable China provided a stark example of the extent to which governments will abuse the power that comes with COVID-19 smartphone applications, as authorities in Henan province turned the health status of citizens red in order to prevent a scheduled bank protest. Since May this year, three banks in Henan have frozen some 175 million dollars of deposits which has left people locked out of savings. A protest was planned by a number of these bank depositors in June, only to find that their health codes on their apps upon entry to the province had been turned red by authorities. This move prevented hundreds of protesters from making their voices heard against the unexplained blockage of their access to their money. “They are putting digital handcuffs on us,” a depositor from Sichuan province told Reuters. In China, since the introduction of this COVID-19 health app, anyone without a green code on their app is blocked from public transport and spaces. Those who naively believed that government-enforced health applications would only be used for the sole purpose of stopping the spread of COVID-19 have been given a stark indication as to the wider breaches of civil liberties that authorities can impose. China leads the way when it comes to digital authoritarianism, exemplified by their social credit score system which has been in effect since 2017, whereby citizens can be blocked from a variety of public services for demonstrating bad behavior online. Essentially, those who criticized the government or held views deemed undesirable by the Chinese Communist Party. Yet the digital infrastructure that has been created in the West, with COVID-19 as the pretext, means that it is only a matter of time before such drastic acts will be seen in places like Europe and the United States in order to preserve government control over citizens.

According to the Sunday Times, the suitcase containing €1 million in cash was one of three lots of cash he personally received, totaling €3 million, from former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani between 2011 and 2015. CNN has not independently verified The Sunday Times report. “Charitable donations received from Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim were passed immediately to one of the Prince’s charities who carried out the appropriate governance and have assured us that all the correct processes were followed,” Clarence House told CNN in a statement. The Sunday Times reported on one occasion, Sheikh Hamad gave Prince Charles €1 million reportedly stuffed into carrier bags from the upmarket London department store, Fortnum and Mason. On another occasion, Prince Charles accepted a duffel bag containing €1 million during a private one-on-one meeting at Clarence House in 2015, the Sunday Times reports.

Earlier this week newly leaked documents show council staff conducted surveillance last year on local parents critical about poor quality special educational needs and disability provision (SEND), sparking concerns about privacy and who else the council is monitoring. Responding to the leak, a council spokesman had claimed the surveillance was carried out following a request by the Bristol Parent Carer Forum, a local charity, which was allegedly investigating the conduct of some of its members. But now the forum has flatly denied this. A spokesman for the forum said: “We would like to clarify that the parent carer forum has not asked Bristol City Council to collect data about parents and carers of children and young people with SEND.” Now the council has stuck with its original claim, but this time providing more detail. The surveillance appears to stem from a row last autumn, where some forum members were “campaigning” online. The council claimed this conflicted with them representing the forum.

New data reveals that carbon emissions related to road traffic in Bristol fell from 556,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2019 to 443,400 in 2020. Road traffic emissions in the city declined more between 2019 and 2020 than over the entire previous decade. Emissions from carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, due to human activity, are causing the climate to heat up. This week Bristol and other parts of Britain saw record-breaking extreme temperatures, with experts predicting more regular heatwaves in future. Each summer the government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy publishes data about how much carbon dioxide is emitted from local authority areas across the country. The data shows Bristol’s progress on hitting its target of net zero emissions. The emissions data report said: “Overall UK emissions in 2020 fell by nine per cent, largely due to reductions in road traffic and business activity as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting restrictions. These statistics allow local authorities to track their greenhouse gas emissions trends over time, and measure progress against any targets they have. “At a national level, transport greenhouse gas emissions saw a decrease of 18% in 2020 compared to 2019. Every local authority in the country saw a decrease in transport emissions.” However, emissions from road traffic have likely since shot back up again, after Covid restrictions were lifted. The latest emissions data has a two-year time lag, meaning it’s still unclear how much carbon Bristol emitted last year. But the data stretches back to 2005, showing that over the past 15 years, total carbon emissions in Bristol have dropped by 50%. Elsewhere, household energy use now emits the most carbon dioxide of all sectors in Bristol, at 37% of all emissions. About three quarters of household carbon emissions come from gas, with the rest coming from electricity. Household emissions fell by less than 3% between 2019 and 2020, but have dropped by almost 40% over the past decade.

Part Two – Ukraine/Covid/Climate Round-Up With End Times Prophecy Reports

West’s Press Call Ukraine Military HQ a civilian target. Ukraine’s national police said three missiles hit an office building and damaged nearby residential buildings in Vinnytsia, which is about 167 miles southwest of the capital, Kyiv. The missile strike ignited a fire that expanded to engulf 50 cars in an adjacent parking lot. The governor of the Vinnytsia region, Serhiy Borzov, said Ukrainian air defense systems shot down another four missiles over the area. The ‘office building’ that the Ukraine’s national police claims was hit was in fact the ‘House of Officers’ owned by the Ukrainian military. There were also an unusual number of people in military clothing helping with the casualties. The Times continues to play a shell game when it claims hits ‘on civilians’ even as the targets are clearly military ones: The strike came amid other recent attacks on populated civilian areas. And in the eastern village of Chasiv Yar, in Donetsk, the State Emergency Service said the death toll from a strike on an apartment complex over the weekend had risen to 48, making it one of the deadliest attacks since the war began. More deadly attacks are happening every day at the front line where Russia artillery takes out any larger grouping of Ukraine’s military. As for the dead in Chasiv Yar here is again what the Times Carlotta Gall reported from that location: [A resident of Chasiv Yar village, Oleksandr, 31,] said that about 10 civilians, mostly women on pensions, were living in the building at the time of the strike, but that members of the military had come to lodge there two days earlier. A Russian strike hit the apartment building. Only 10 civilians were living there, but at least 48 people have died in the strike. 38 of the dead must thus have been ‘members of the military’ who were lodging there. That they did so made the apartment complex a legitimate military target. Now let’s see what the Russian military claims to have hit in Vinnytsia: On July 13, Kalibr high-precision sea-based missiles were launched at the House of Officers of the garrison in Vinnitsa. The facility hosted a conference of the Ukrainian Armed Force command with representatives of foreign armament suppliers aimed at discussing the issues on sending another batch of aircraft, destruction means, as well as on organising the reparation of Ukrainian aircraft. The attack has resulted in the elimination of the conference participants. On July 14, shortly after news of the strike in Vinnytsia had come out, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine issued a new Security Alert – Missile Threat Awareness for U.S. citizens: Avoid large gatherings and organized events as they may serve as Russian military targets anywhere in Ukraine, including its western regions. Further lies the abyss of nuclear war. There’s no need to go there.” Russian officials have ruled out using nuclear weapons in Ukraine and said they would only use such arms if there was an “existential” threat to Russia. But the massive amount of military assistance the US and its NATO allies are providing Ukraine in the war risks a direct conflict between the US and Russia, which could quickly turn nuclear. There are no signs that the war will end anytime soon as Ukraine maintains it will drive Russia out of all the territory it captured, and Moscow has said it now has expanded its war aims outside of the Donbas region. The Western support for Ukraine also shows no sign of waning as President Biden recently declared the US will support Ukraine “as long as it takes” to see Russia defeated.

‘Ithaka’ film about Julian Assange’s family fighting for him.  Ithaka: A Family’s Fight To Free Julian Assange by Craig Murray Posted on July 10, 2022 Away from the Tory Babel over who will be the top “world-leading” sociopath, I spent the last two evenings in the company of decent people. John and Gabriel Shipton, Julian’s father and brother, were in Glasgow and Edinburgh for the screening of “Ithaka”, the documentary that follows the fight by Julian Assange’s family to have him freed. I was moderating the Q & A. The odd pub may also have been visited. Ithaka is heart-rending, and it has an important message in rehumanizing Julian after over a decade of concerted (I use that word advisedly) propaganda aimed at dehumanizing him. The sheer baseness of the extraordinary lies told by the mainstream media about his personal hygiene – leaving toilets unflushed and even smearing Embassy walls with excrement – is something straight out of Goebbels’ playbook. The cold calculation behind Assange’s treatment in his last months in the Embassy, when he was denied access to wash and shave, in order to produce the apparent monster for the photos of his arrest, is a true example of evil unfolding. Two days before his expulsion I telephoned the Embassy and spoke to the First Secretary (a call I recorded). I explained that if, as we understood, Julian were no longer welcome, they only had to say so and he would leave voluntarily to the police station. Instead we had that calculated piece of theater. Presentation aside, it also enabled them to retain all of Julian’s possessions, including all his legal papers covered by client-attorney privilege relating to his defense. As we heard in the extradition hearing, all of those papers were taken to Quito and then given to the CIA. This was admitted by counsel for the US government who claimed that “Chinese walls” – a direct quote – within the US government prevented the CIA from passing any of that information to the Justice Department, who are running the case.

Rishi Sunak wants Green taxes on fuel.  China responsible for global warming via carbon emissions.  Rishi Sunak’s Push for Green Levy on Petrol Was Blocked by UK Cabinet Alex Wickham 15 July 2022— Conservative leadership contender Rishi Sunak privately lobbied to impose a green levy on petrol and diesel when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer, a plan critics said would have led to higher prices at UK pumps. In Cabinet-level discussions a year ago — before prices began an inexorable rise — Sunak proposed a Fossil Fuels Emissions Trading Scheme to put a price on pollution from road transportation, as well as shipping, building heating and diesel trains, which together make up more than 40% of UK carbon emissions. According to three people familiar with the matter, the proposal was drawn up by the Treasury and submitted for to Boris Johnson’s office. It was rejected by the prime minister after opposition from other Cabinet ministers. A spokesperson for Sunak said the proposal was part of the government’s work to make the country greener, and was ultimately not adopted. Sunak’s argument was that making fuel importers and refiners responsible for the carbon emissions produced by people using their products would raise money for the Treasury and help pay for the plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to “net zero” by 2050. That Conservative manifesto commitment was championed by Johnson at the United Nations climate talks he hosted last fall. The goal presents a challenge for the Treasury. One way to cut emissions, for example, is to promote a shift to electric cars — a move that leaves a hole in the public finances due to the loss of petrol duty.

In December 2020, Zelenko with co-authors lished an article on a retrospective case study of outpatient treatment with zinc, low-dose hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, which indicated a significant reduction in the incidence of hospitalization of COVID-19 patients that had been treated with the protocol, 2.8% treated compared with 15.4% untreated. Zelenko was also a courageous advocate and defender of fundamental principles of medicine. He persevered against unrelenting defamation of character from the media, and threats against his person. Dr. Zelenko was an observant orthodox Jew, and was married with 8 children, and has authored two books called Metamorphosis and Essence to Essence.

Turkish mobs have been accused of illegally incinerating imported rubbish in the Turkish city of Adana, where Sainsbury’s bags, Tesco products and other plastic covered goods from UK supermarkets were uncovered during a Greenpeace investigation. Waste from British grocers is also spilling into rivers, threatening local wildlife, while the singed packets of recently burned rubbish were seen at five other sites in the Mediterranean hotspot, reports the Mirror. Jacob Hayler, executive director at the Environmental Services Association, claimed that between 5 and 6 per cent of waste was inspected at Britain’s ports during the last three months of 2021. It has led to environmental action groups slamming the perceived inaction from the Government, with Greenpeace UK warning ‘the truth is we have no idea what really happens to it [exported plastic] because no one bothers to check’. Chris Thorne, a campaigner with Greenpeace UK, added: ‘When we export our plastic, it might be out of sight and out of mind for us, but it’s harming people and nature in other countries.

‘The Government must ban plastic waste exports as a matter of urgency to stop this environmental colonialism.’ Experts have claimed nearly one million tons of plastic are being ‘openly dumped’ in Turkey each year. A significant portion of this is being burnt as Turkey struggles to manage both foreign exports and its own plastic waste, prompting serious health concerns as hazardous chemicals are continually being found. Professor Iseult Lynch, Environmental Nanoscience chair at the University of Birmingham, told MailOnline: ‘It is definitely an ongoing major issue – our individual efforts to recycle plastic are not being translated into actual recycling as the plastic shipped to Turkey and elsewhere, supposedly for recycling, is often not being recycled. ‘However, we cannot simply blame those other countries – the UK should not be shipping our waste elsewhere for disposal and (mis)management – as a country that aims to be a leader in the circular economy, we should be leading by example and ensuing that our plastic is properly managed and where it is at end of life managing that via waste to energy plants, such as is the case in Sweden, where Incineration with energy recovery is the most common form of treatment for plastic waste, with 1.1 million tonnes treated in this way in 2020.’ A Greenpeace investigation from 2021 revealed waste from our major supermarkets, including Tesco, Aldi and M&S, was found strewn across sites in southern Turkey. The group found used fizzy drink cans, crisp packets and sweet wrappers among items being shredded and burnt rather than recycled.

Others have been left with more questions around the rules of these new restrictions – including why some car park entrances have been included in the zone and what it means for residents who already live in the area. Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees made the announcement on Wednesday (July 6) that the city’s Clean Air Zone, which will charge drivers with certain vehicles a minimum of £9 for driving in or near the city centre, will begin on November 28 this year.

He also said that three quarters of vehicles driven around the city centre will not be affected, with only one in three drivers expected to have to pay due to the criteria of vehicles excluded from the zone. In an article by Bristol Live this week, we reported that signs and cameras were already being put up around the city on the edge of the Clean Air Zone (CAZ) as a major public awareness campaign started, with billboard posters up to warn people they could be charged. The article has received almost 80 comments from readers, sharing their concerns, questions and confusion over the new rule changes. Some were desperate for an explanation over the boundary limits of the zone – and why certain car park entrances had been included. One commenter wrote: “No one has yet explained why the zone starts on the Portway before Cumberland basin and why the entrance to Trenchard Street carpark is in the zone. “As far as I can see the only reason is to generate money. Driving from the Portway to the A370 goes nowhere near the city center. How is climate linked to extreme weather? 2003 – The highest temperature ever recorded in Britain was set during the sizzling summer of 2003, when the 100-Fahrenheit mark was broken for the first and only time. The mercury soared to 38.5C (101.3F) at Brogdale, near Faversham, Kent, on August 10, smashing the previous 1990 record of 37.1C (98.8F). Across Europe, around 70,000 people are believed to have died during the worst heatwave on the continent for almost 500 years. Britain luckily escaped the worst following a cool and wet two-week period at the end of July and beginning of August. It led to the worst drought for 27 years and wilting crops led to a 12% shortfall in wheat, causing the price of bread to soar. But most Britons were simply content to enjoy what was the first sustained heatwave in almost a decade with, notably, a mud-free Glastonbury festival for once. 1976 – The hottest British summer on record was 1976, when for 25 straight days the temperature hit at least 26.7C (80F). For 15 days during the spell, between June 22 and July 16, the mercury soared beyond 32.2C (90F) somewhere in England. The temperature exceeded 35C (95F) for five blistering days of the heatwave, peaking at 35.9C (96.6F) on July 3 in Cheltenham. It was perfect weather for women to wear the some of the decade’s notoriously skimpy outfits, although not so great for men with long hair and flairs. But there were major downsides as Britain suffered its worst drought in history, with water being rationed in some places by standpipes in the streets. A BBC Panorama programme claims one SAS unit was responsible for up to 54 deaths in secret operations that took place during a six-month tour of duty in Helmand in 2010 and 2011. The documentary led to recriminations even before it was broadcast on Tuesday night. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) accused the programme makers of making claims that are “irresponsible, incorrect and puts our brave Armed Forces personnel at risk both in the field and reputationally”. However, General Sir David Richards, the former chief of the defence staff (CDS) during the period of the alleged killings told the BBC: “In my experience, worrying events of the type captured by Panorama are very rare in the British armed forces. “That said, given the compelling nature of the programme, if I was still the chief of the defence staff I would order a thorough investigation of the events portrayed. I have no doubt that Admiral (Sir Tony) Radakin, the current chief of the defence staff, will do this.” The Independent understands Gen Richards was unaware of the allegations at the time. Senior officers say measures were then in place to ensure any reports of such serious issues would go up the chain of command and “find it difficult to believe” that such systematic killings would have taken place without them knowing about it. Gen Richards, now Baron Richards of Herstmonceux, has extensive experience of the Afghan mission. He was the head of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) when the conflict erupted five years after the fall of the Taliban. The MoD began an investigation into alleged offences by British forces in Afghanistan – including claims of fatal shootings by the SAS codenamed Operation Northmoor – in 2014 which ended four years later with the government announcing that there was no evidence of criminality. Panorama claimed an earlier inquiry by the Royal Military Police (RMP) in 2013 into deaths in the hands of the Special Forces was hampered by the investigators not being given access to information held by UK Special Forces Headquarters. Material containing concerns about actions of some soldiers was put into a restricted-access classified file under “anecdotal information about extrajudicial killings” accessible only to a handful of senior officers. Examining official documents, the BBC held there were “strikingly similar reports” compiled after deaths during operations in the hours of darkness in SAS “kill/capture” missions. The “night raids” were eventually suspended at the request of the Afghan government. Some suspects were lethally targeted on flawed intelligence. There were also claims that the SAS troops planted weapons, mainly AK-47 rifles, to justify killings on grounds of self-defence…..

In recent weeks, more and more signals have come through unofficial channels about the sale of Ukrainian weapons. At this time, the US cannot send mobile teams to check availability, but DSCA is willing to open an office in the territory of Ukraine. DSCA says that the information they have about how the donated US weapons are used is based solely on assurances from Kyiv.

Maxwell herself spoke in court on Tuesday­her first public remarks since her July 2020 arrest­dressed in prison scrubs and with her ankles shackled. She acknowledged “the pain and anguish” of the victimized women who had addressed the court before her, but stopped short of apologizing or accepting responsibility for her crimes, claiming that “it is the greatest regret of my life that I ever met Jeffrey Epstein.” While Maxwell’s attempt to blame Epstein for her crimes was obviously self-serving, what she could not say was that she was the one to take the fall for a sexual blackmail operation sponsored by Western intelligence agencies.

From chip implants to facial recognition software on your mobile, this new technology is aiming to consign cash and bank cards to the history books. But is the rapidly growing sector dangerously out of its depth? Certainly Walletmor appears to be. Today Money Mail can reveal the firm ­ which has featured on both the BBC and Forbes ­ has been plunged into controversy after it emerged it had misled customers. Mr Paprota had been repurposing chips from a third-party supplier, MuchBetter, which is associated with Mastercard. Once they were alerted to Walletmor’s actions, both companies pulled the plug ­ citing ‘health and safety’ concerns. Overnight customers in the UK had their accounts shut down. The result? Some have been left with totally redundant chips under their skin. Their only option at present is to have them removed ­ though Walletmor insists it is looking at ways to reprogram already-implanted chips for future use. A microchip was first inserted into a human in 1998. Professor Kevin Warwick ­ who is known as Captain Cyborg ­ had the procedure done to link his nervous system to a computer as part of an experiment. But otherwise there was little appetite for commercially available chips ­ until Walletmor stepped in and began selling them as an alternative to bank cards. The device is around the size of a grain of rice and costs €200 (£169). Walletmor could not conduct implantations, instead referring customers to piercing specialists. The chip was linked to a smartphone app run by MuchBetter, where customers could deposit funds. In April, Walletmor bragged on social media that it had been featured in more than 450 articles worldwide. ‘The implant can be used to pay for a drink on the beach in Rio, a coffee in New York, a haircut in Paris ­ or at your local grocery store,’ Mr Paprota told the BBC earlier this year. If it could also be loaded with identification documents, that would be a different story. But that would also open up a bigger debate around privacy.’ Interest in ‘biometric’ payment solutions ­ which use physical characteristics to identify a customer and authorise a transaction ­ has been growing steadily. Well-known examples include fingerprint and facial-recognition technology, which is used among banks, tech giants and even at airports to authenticate passports.

Boris resigns as PM.  PMQs Kier Starmer and Boris Johnson – Boris’s resignation.  Auditors point out systematic rule-breaking about Bristol Council finances and practice Bristol City Council broke rules awarding 203 contracts worth £69m last year – External auditors are calling for “urgent action” By Adam Postans, Local democracy reporter  4 JUL 2022 Bristol City Council officers broke the rules on awarding contracts for goods and services more than 200 times to the value of £69million last year, a report reveals. That is more than double the previous 12 months and has prompted external auditors to tell the authority to address the issue “as a matter of urgency” because it could be a sign of “irregularities” and an increased risk of fraud. There were 203 occasions in 2021/22 where re-tendering procedures were not followed correctly, officially called procurement breaches, which equates to 14 per cent of all contracts awarded by the authority – almost one in seven. That compares with 94 breaches to the value of £14million the year before, about 11 per cent of total contracts. The council says an effective and transparent breaches process is in place to detect when regulations are not followed and that more training and a procurement policy, which the organisation does not currently have, will be introduced. Auditor Grant Thornton’s interim value-for-money 2020/21 report, presented to audit committee members, said: “The overall level of breaches in both years is higher than we would expect and the increase and final value in 2021/22 is of some note. “In our experience, high levels of breaches have been associated elsewhere with governance and procurement irregularities and, as such, the issue should be addressed as a matter of urgency.” In a separate report to the committee, the huge rise was highlighted as a “significant governance issue” for the authority. The annual governance statement, a legally-required document alongside its financial statements that explains how the council ensures it is run effectively and makes appropriate decisions in the right way, said: “The number of breaches of the council’s procurement rules during 2021/22 significantly increased from 2020/21. The 2020/21 value-for-money report by the council’s external auditors has recommended urgent action be taken to address the high level of breaches. “When the procurement rules are breached, there is an increased risk that the council enters into a contract which is not best value and/or is not the best way of achieving organisational objectives. Breaches also reduce transparency and fairness of decision making, which can increase the risk of fraud, conflicts of interest and reputational damage.” Finance director Denise Murray told the meeting the high number of instances was “a bit of a surprise to us”. She said: “Procurement breaches come in a number of forms. “You will have breaches in the regulations, which is the legislative framework, and you will have breaches in relation to our procurement rules which cover a range of things. They deal with direct awards, retrospective extensions to orders, so some of this captures forward planning or the need for contracts to be extended in a timely manner in line with the contract.” Grant Thornton recommended that the council should “continue to scrutinise and act to reduce contract breaches” by introducing procurement compliance training and having the figures monitored by audit committee or cabinet, which was not unusual in other authorities but did not happen at the city council. A response in the report by the authority’s management said: “Whilst full compliance can never be guaranteed and ‘under-reporting’ of breaches, in particular, is an inherent possibility, an effective and transparent breaches governance process is in place to detect instances of non-compliance. “Procurement compliance training will be more widely rolled out and actual compliance activity reported quarterly to audit committee via internal audit.” It also accepted a recommendation to introduce a procurement strategy. Bristol City Council was asked to comment further and said its response was in the report. Grant Thornton’s report said: “In order to remain compliant with procurement legislation the council should follow its procurement rules and re-tender in line with current legislation. “If these procedures and legislation are not followed then this is classed as a procurement breach and the council’s procedures require breaches to be formally acknowledged and recorded. An internal audit report on procurement compliance (August 2021) gave an opinion of ‘reasonable’ assurance but recommended further ways to strengthen governance arrangements and reduce breach numbers.”

Clean Air Zone critics in Bristol vow to boycott city centre and go elsewhere Some Bristolians are vowing to boycott the city centre following the announcement of an official start date for the city’s Clean Air Zone. Others have been left with more questions around the rules of these new restrictions – including why some car park entrances have been included in the zone and what it means for residents who already live in the area. Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees made the announcement on Wednesday (July 6) that the city’s Clean Air Zone, which will charge drivers with certain vehicles a minimum of £9 for driving in or near the city centre, will begin on November 28 this year. He also said that three quarters of vehicles driven around the city centre will not be affected, with only one in three drivers expected to have to pay due to the criteria of vehicles excluded from the zone. In an article by Bristol Live this week, we reported that signs and cameras were already being put up around the city on the edge of the Clean Air Zone (CAZ) as a major public awareness campaign started, with billboard posters up to warn people they could be charged. The article has received almost 80 comments from readers, sharing their concerns, questions and confusion over the new rule changes. Some were desperate for an explanation over the boundary limits of the zone – and why certain car park entrances had been included. One commenter wrote: “No one has yet explained why the zone starts on the Portway before Cumberland basin and why the entrance to Trenchard Street carpark is in the zone. “As far as I can see the only reason is to generate money. Driving from the Portway to the A370 goes nowhere near the city center. The zone is deliberately extended by a few yards to cover the carpark entrance.” While another asked: “Is it true that it also covers the entrance to Cabot Circus car park?” View are map below to see the boundary. Another argument readers made surrounded the topic of what residents who already live in the CAZ would benefit from – one reader said they ‘couldn’t help’ already living in the area and dubbed the idea ‘unfair’. Saetana commented: “People cannot help the fact that they live within the zone – it did not exist when they moved there. “I can see a case for new residents having to pay once the zone starts as they will be aware when they move that they will be living in a CAZ. I do not however believe that existing residents of the CAZ area should have to pay – its just not fair.” A second said: “I live literally on the last street of the zone – my street is the border beyond which the zone ends. So I won’t get any of the health benefits, just the hassle.”

So it was no surprise when his newly recruited Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi followed in his footsteps, blatantly lying to all and sundry, when he advised the public that the introduction of vaccine passports or immunity certificates would not be imposed upon the British public. He categorically stated, at the beginning of the year, that these were not on the agenda and that; ‘no one has been given or will be required to have a vaccine passport.’ He even referred to the use of such passports as ‘discriminatory’ and said it was ‘not how we do things in the UK.’ Fast forward a mere four or five months later, and the ‘discriminatory’ passports are perfectly acceptable and exactly ‘how we do things in the UK’, it would seem. Appearing on BBC Breakfast, Zahawi declared that COVID-19 passports would be issued for those who wanted to travel overseas and that they would be ‘operationally possible’ by May 17. So now that it is clear, if we needed any assurances, that the UK Vaccine Minister, Nadhim Zahawi is a liar, what else do we know about him? You would expect, wouldn’t you, a man who is in charge of an operation to inject every man, woman and child in the country with a vaccine to be an upstanding, honourable, ethical individual who places the safety and health of the public before any other interest? You would expect Boris to appoint a person who conducts his affairs with good intentions – the wellness of society being at the forefront of his mind. Only someone with a background of decorum, responsibility and integrity would be fit for this role, right?

In an article published Thursday, economist Jeffrey Sachs called for an independent investigation of information held by U.S.-based institutions that could shed light on the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic. Writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Sachs and his co-author, Neil Harrison, a Columbia University professor of molecular pharmacology and therapeutics, said that federal agencies and universities possess evidence that has not been adequately reviewed, including virus databases, biological samples, viral sequences, email communications, and laboratory notebooks. Sachs and Harrison also highlighted a tantalizing scientific detail that may be an indication that SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, originated in a laboratory: a sequence of eight amino acids on a critical part of the virus’s spike protein that is identical to an amino acid sequence found in cells that line human airways. Sachs and Harrison are hardly the first to suggest that SARS-CoV-2 might have been created in a lab. Since its genetic sequence was first published in February 2020, scientists have puzzled over the furin cleavage site, an area on the virus’s spike that allows it to be cleaved by a protein on the membrane of human cells and makes the coronavirus particularly dangerous to people. Once split, the virus releases its genetic material into the cell and reproduces. While attaching to cells and spike cleavage is part of how all coronaviruses work, SARS-CoV-2 is the only one of its class, sarbecoviruses, that can use furin for the cleavage. As with past discussion of a possible lab origin of SARS-CoV-2, this latest theory has already been met with considerable pushback. Even some scientists who are open to the idea that a lab accident could have sparked the pandemic remain unconvinced by the particular trail of evidence laid out by Sachs and Harrison.

THE GREAT DECOUPLING WITH RUSSIA – COMPARABLE WITH THE 1956 SUEZ CRISIS AND THE GEOPOLITICAL CENTRE MOVING FROM LONDON TO WASHINGTON, NOW TO BEIJING AND MOSCOW – The company BlackRock, Inc manages $10 trillion dollars in assets, and as such investors tend to place close attention to the views and opinions of chairman and CEO Larry Fink. Here is what he said in his recent letter to shareholders: “the Russian invasion of Ukraine has put an end to the globalization we have experienced over the last three decades… Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and its subsequent decoupling from the global economy is going to prompt companies and governments worldwide to re-evaluate their dependencies and re-analyze their manufacturing and assembly footprints – something that Covid had already spurred many to start doing.”[1] In other words, the spectacle of the last few weeks, and the response by NATO has had far-reaching ramifications beyond the aggression mustered by the United States as they invaded or devastated one country after another for years and years. Globalization is dead! A massive decoupling is taking place! Indeed, the sanctions put in place to hurt Russia are hitting Americans, Canadians and the European communities too as we pull up to the gas station or watch our food prices start to escalate. [2][3] Meanwhile, on Friday, President Biden, flanked by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced an agreement to lower the European Union’s dependence on Vladimir Putin’s oil and gas supplies. According to Biden: “We’re going to have to make sure the families in Europe can get through this winter and the next while we’re building the infrastructure for a diversified, resilient and clean energy future.”[4] So the stakes for the Ukraine literally go far beyond the bullets, bombs and bravery of troops in the Eastern European country. While NATO still won’t engage them on the battlefield (let us hope) the many other financial measures levelled against Russia that are having consequences potentially as devastating as an actual war. With Saudi Arabia now pursuing talks allowing some of it’s oil to be priced in the Chinese currency the Yuan, the dominance of the American dollar as part of the standard for maintaining its power is in jeopardy. As well, 5 nations including Russia itself rejected the United Nations General Assembly vote to immediately end Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine. The 35 nations that abstained did so, in many cases as suspecting that the West incited the conditions that led to the conflict. So Russia is not exactly “isolated.” [5] Is a new divided world part of the New World Order that has been unraveled in front of us? Establishment narrative managers, for their part, have been floating the possibility that the White Helmets founder was murdered by the Russian government. The Washington Examiner has published an article titled Did Russia kill White Helmets founder James Le Mesurier?, calling to mind Betteridges law of headlines, which states that Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no. The BBCs Mark Urban tweeted out and then deleted a thread (screenshots here) in which he cites an anonymous source who claims to have known Le Mesuriers flat well enough to be sure that its not possible to fall from his balcony, then meaningfully pointing to a black propaganda campaign by Russia and Assad media against Le Mesurier. Zionist attacks on academics – Steven Salaita was offered a tenured post at the University of Illinois in late 2013 and was scheduled to take it up in August 2014. However, in July 2014, Salaita posted many tweets critical of the Zionist killing spree in Gaza in which over 2,000 people died. A cherry-picked selection of these were brought to the attention of the University by the press and Zionist groups. The first attacks came from William Jacobson a law professor at Cornell University who works closely with Zionist groups such as the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA). Within days the Zionist Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation, which states that among its purposes is supporting the development of the Israeli regime, had joined the attack. Rapidly the university became the focus of a mass Zionist campaign and it received hundreds of letters from university alumni, students, parents of students, and members of Champaign-Urbana’s pro-Israel community as well as pressure from several large and small donors threatening to remove funding in the future. Emails that Illinois Chancellor Phyllis Wise exchanged on the case, which were later published, though heavily redacted, reportedly show that she was more concerned about a donor who is on the board of the Jewish Federation and Hillel, two Zionist organizations than she was about the views of academic officials who report to her.’ Hillel is the campus organization claiming to represent Jewish students, but which is in fact formally Zionist. Of course, accusations of anti-Semitism were bandied about by the Zionists. But Salaita is not in the least bit racist against Jews. In the end, because of this, they had to find something else to sack him for. Salaita explained: If there’s no serious moral or political argument in response to criticism of Israel, then condemn the speaker for various failures of tone and appropriateness. A word becomes more relevant than an array of war crimes. Salaita later won a court case against the university, which also found that Chancellor Phyllis Wise was involved in tampering with evidence in the case by trying to conceal email messages and she immediately resigned. A settlement was reached in November 2015 which awarded Salaita $600,000 and an additional $275,000 to cover his legal expenses. He did not, however, get his job back. What does the case tell us about the wider climate? First, as Salaita himself unflinchingly put it: Zionist smear campaigns aim to make you destitute. Despite subsequent job offers also withdrawn he was unable to secure another job at a university and he now drives a school bus in Washington DC. He remains, however, an active critic of Zionism. Salaita has published a guide on how to handle a Zionist defamation campaign. His Twitter followers have gone from about 2,000 before his sacking to 10,000 in late 2014, rocketing up to more than 55,000 today. He has published several books since the incident in Illinois, and his spirit remains strong.
