During a wide-ranging conversation on this week’s Haaretz Podcast, Olmert tells host Allison Kaplan Sommer that for Ben-Gvir, Smotrich and Netanyahu, Gaza is only the beginning – they are aiming for “Armageddon, that will make it possible to expel many of the Palestinians in the West Bank.” He mentions the government minister’s backing of violent groups of settlers, who are beating Palestinians and looting their homes, and goes as far as saying, “A great majority of Palestinians killed in the West Bank [since October 7] were killed not necessarily for good reasons, and not by qualified Israeli security forces, but by volunteers – such as the hilltop youth.” Olmert, who a year and a half ago lost a defamation suit filed against him by the Netanyahu family for asserting they were mentally ill, doesn’t seem deterred from using strong language to describe the prime minister, whose behavior, he says, points to “a nervous breakdown.”

Damien Egan, new gay MP for Kingswood, Bristol – his ‘husband’ is Mr Yossi Felberbaum, former IDF soldier and a recruiter for Israeli secret service Unit 82o0 for six years. New Labour MP is married to former Israeli spy recruiter  A new UK Labour Party lawmaker is married to a former Israeli soldier who recruited from Israel’s deadly Unit 8200 spy agency. Damien Egan, candidate for the UK’s main opposition party, won a by-election in the southwestern English constituency of Kingswood on Friday. As the result was announced, he was photographed celebrating with his Israeli husband, the Google software developer Yossi Felberbaum. But the British media failed to report one crucial fact: Felberbaum is a former recruiter of officers from the deadly Israeli spy agency known as Unit 8200. The signals and cyber-warfare arm of Israel’s military intelligence, Unit 8200 plays a vital role in the targeting, murder, blackmail and mass surveillance of Palestinians.

In a Facebook posting from 2017, a group called Birthright Israel Excel wrote that Felberbaum had been in the Israeli military for six years. They explained that Felberbaum had played “an important role” acting as one of their liaisons with the Israeli military, “assisting with recruitment of 8200 unit soldiers as Israeli Peers. Bristol Labour MPs are part of Labour Friends of signals intelligence Israel, but not also a Palestinian rights group. ” Birthright Israel Excel is a 10-week Tel Aviv internship program which recruits Jewish college students from selected universities – mostly in North America and Europe – and links them up with Israeli companies, mostly in the high-tech sector. Their interns are all matched with an “Israeli Peer” to guide them through the program. Judging from their Facebook posting about Felberbaum, however, it seems that at least some of these “peers” are actually Unit 8200 spies. Unit 8200’s role has vastly expanded in the last two decades, and its infiltration of the global high tech industry has similarly grown.

Instead, he held out an olive branch to them. They repaid his magnanimity by plotting the downfall which came to a head so spectacularly this week. Phase One of the plan was to get Labour to sign up to an electorally suicidal shift on Brexit. Labour did so well in 2017 largely because it gave a clear manifesto commitment to respect the result of the 2016 referendum. But great pressure was exerted on Corbyn to agree to a change in policy and pledge Labour to support a second referendum. Years earlier, Corbyn had, quite rightly, attacked the EU for making the Irish vote again after they had rejected the Lisbon Treaty. But asking Labour Leavers to vote again on whether to leave the EU is precisely what Corbyn was doing in the 2019 general election. It’s true that others were constructing his political coffin, but it’s also true that Corbyn handed them the nails.

3,000 – 4,000 Welsh farmers protest in Cardiff Bay – speeches. Patrizia Opulenza poem about George Galloway win.  Thousands of farmers protest outside Welsh Parliament Protesters are objecting to proposals by the Welsh Government to require more land to be set aside for environmental schemes. Three thousand people descended on the Welsh Parliament in protest at a proposed overhaul of farming subsidies they say threaten their industry. Protesters, who had travelled from across the country to attend the event, cheered, waved Welsh flags and held placards in Welsh and English reading: “No Farmers, No Food”. They are objecting to proposals by the Welsh Labour Government to require more land to be set aside for environmental schemes. A series of protests have already taken place across Wales but the event in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday was the largest by far, attended by thousands of farmers. South Wales Police had previously asked those attending not to bring tractors, meaning a line of the vehicles were parked along a road leading to Cardiff Bay. The event saw speeches from farmers, Senedd politicians from the Welsh Conservatives and Plaid Cymru, as well as from former international rugby union referee Nigel Owens. He told the cheering crowds: “In 2015, I was very privileged to referee the World Cup final in Twickenham – the proudest moment of my career. “But today I’m even prouder to come and speak in front of good, decent people. An honour to be here to speak and to support you today as a fellow farmer.” Mr Owens said he had dreamed of becoming a farmer since he was eight years old, and now had a small freeholding. “I do it became I care, because I’m passionate about the industry that we are in,” Mr Owens said. “But without farmers there is no food. The protesters are objecting to the sustainable farming scheme (SFS), which is currently under consultation and would require 10% of a farmer’s land to be covered in trees in exchange for future funding. Farming leaders say the scheme could result in 5,500 job losses.

Serving US Air Force officer Aaron Bushnell dies after setting himself on fire protesting outside the Washington DC Israeli embassy against US aided genocide in Gaza. Idiotic DC cop threatens to shoot Aaron while he is on fire and orders him to lie down as he is on fire and falls shouting ‘Free Palestine’. “My name is Aaron Bushnell, I am an active-duty member of the United States Air Force, and I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all.” That’s how the 25-year-old introduced himself—and bade farewell—to the world in a livestream video of his Sunday afternoon walk to the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. Arriving outside the front gate, Bushnell set down his phone, took eight paces, turned to face the camera, doused himself in an unknown accelerant, donned his service cap, and set himself alight. He repeatedly screamed “Free Palestine” as he burned. Uniformed Secret Service officers arrived on the scene even before Bushnell was able to ignite the fire. They repeatedly ordered him to “get on the ground.” “Get on the ground, you ***ker,” a police officer can be heard saying in the video as Bushnell screams and writhes in agony. He managed one final, garbled yet unmistakable shout of “free Palestine” as his body was engulfed in flames. Nearly two-and-a-half minutes into the video, an officer in a white shirt rushes in with an extinguisher while an officer points his pistol at Bushnell’s burning body. “I don’t need guns,” implored the man in the white shirt, “I need fire extinguishers.” NPRreported Bushnell was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. He died Sunday evening. 

Caitlin Johnson’s blog – Aaron Bushnell’s Death Can’t Rightly Be Called An Act Of Suicide Caitlin Johnstone In the case of suicide as we conventionally understand it, death is the goal. It is the both the means and the end, in and of itself. Bushnell’s self-immolation was a means to a very different end: a free Palestine and the cessation of an ongoing genocide. There’s a deeply moving interview on Democracy Now with a friend of Aaron Bushnell, the US airman who fatally self-immolated outside the Israeli embassy while screaming “Free Palestine” in protest of his government’s facilitation of the genocide in Gaza. Bushnell’s friend, a conscientious objector named Levi Pierpont, met Bushnell in 2020 during basic training at an air force base in Texas. When you watch the interview you can immediately see why the two clicked; Pierpont has the same tender, gentle air to him that Bushnell displayed in his final video, very much unlike what you picture when you think of members of the world’s most murderous and destructive military. Neither of them belonged there, and they each took their exit in their own way. Toward the end of the interview, longtime Democracy Now host Amy Goodman asked Pierpont a question which drew an answer that’s worth highlighting and reflecting upon. “Would Aaron have described this as suicide?” Goodman asked Pierpont. “No, absolutely not,” Pierpont replied, adding, “He didn’t have thoughts of suicide. He had thoughts of justice. That’s what this was about. It wasn’t about his life. It was about using his life to send a message.”

Israeli newspaper Haaretz remarked that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent vows for a “total victory” in the war on Gaza appear hollower than ever. The newspaper discussed the Flour Massacre on Gaza’s al-Rashid Street on Thursday, perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces. It observed that the aftermath might influence the ongoing negotiations for an agreement, suggesting it could heighten tensions in various arenas, from Washington to Riyadh. This reinforces the notion that “Netanyahu is not accurately interpreting the situation,” as per Haaretz. While the Israeli military claimed that “the majority of the casualties and injuries occurred due to overcrowding” and “only a few injuries were a result of the soldiers’ gunfire,” Haaretz expressed doubts about the credibility of the Israeli military’s pretexts.

Classified papers (Martin is sceptical) on Russia nuclear weapons Leaked Russian military files reveal criteria for nuclear strike – FT – Max Seddon and Chris Cook in London February 28 2024 – Vladimir Putin’s forces have rehearsed using tactical nuclear weapons at an early stage of conflict with a major world power, according to leaked Russian military files that include training scenarios for an invasion by China. The classified papers, seen by the Financial Times, describe a threshold for using tactical nuclear weapons that is lower than Russia has ever publicly admitted, according to experts who reviewed and verified the documents. The cache consists of 29 secret Russian military files drawn up between 2008 and 2014, including scenarios for war-gaming and presentations for naval officers, which discuss operating principles for the use of nuclear weapons. Criteria for a potential nuclear response range from an enemy incursion on Russian territory to more specific triggers, such as the destruction of 20 per cent of Russia’s strategic ballistic missile submarines. “This is the first time that we have seen documents like this reported in the public domain,” said Alexander Gabuev, director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin. “They show that the operational threshold for using nuclear weapons is pretty low if the desired result can’t be achieved through conventional means.” Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons, which can be delivered by land or sea-launched missiles or from aircraft, are designed for limited battlefield use in Europe and Asia, as opposed to the larger “strategic” weapons intended to target the US. Modern tactical warheads can still release significantly more energy than the weapons dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima in 1945. Although the files date back 10 years and more, experts claim they remain relevant to current Russian military doctrine. The documents were shown to the FT by western sources.

Putin warns of nuclear war risk, says targets in West within reach – Russian President Vladimir Putin cautioned Western nations, stating that sending troops to engage in the war in Ukraine could lead to the risk of provoking a nuclear war. “We did not start this war in Donbas. As I have said many times, we will do everything to end it, to eradicate Nazism. To fulfill all the tasks of the special military operation. To protect the sovereignty and security of our citizens,” he stressed. Meanwhile, he emphasized that Moscow possesses the capability to target locations in the West with its weapons. The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in the most significant crisis in Moscow’s relations with the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. While Putin has previously expressed concerns about a confrontation between NATO and Russia, his nuclear warning on Thursday marked one of his most unequivocal statements on the matter. Speaking to legislators and prominent figures within the nation’s elite, Putin reiterated his assertion that the West is committed to undermining Russia. He indicated that Western leaders might not grasp the potential peril of their interference, characterizing it as meddling in what he perceives as Russia’s internal affairs. Before issuing his nuclear warning, Putin specifically mentioned a proposal put forth by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday. The idea involved European NATO members deploying ground troops to Ukraine, but this suggestion was promptly dismissed by the United States, Germany, Britain, and other nations.

UK Border Force failed to check occupants of hundreds of private jets last year – ‘High-risk’ aircraft are landing in Britain without security checks in a major new immigration scandal, the Mail can reveal today. The borders watchdog warned of ‘dangerous’ failings at a prominent London airport which potentially allowed thousands of passengers to evade passport controls. Home Office data provided to Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, David Neal, showed the UK Border Force failed to check the occupants of hundreds of private jets arriving at just one airport last year. The debacle means gangsters, illegal immigrants, trafficking victims and even extremists may have entered the UK without even rudimentary scrutiny. Mr Neal voiced concerns the problem may be duplicated at other airports which handle private and chartered aircraft. Passengers aboard such flights, known as ‘general aviation’, who are not met by Border Force, are allowed to leave the airport with no further checks. Border Force officers are supposed to check 100 per cent of general aviation flights which they have classified as ‘high-risk’. But last year, just 21 per cent were inspected by immigration officers at London City airport, Mr Neal told the Mail. It handled 1,305 general aviation flights in all last year, with 687 categorised as high-risk, he said. Only 144 of those were checked by Border Force, and 543 – about ten a week – underwent no passport inspections at all, according to figures provided to him by Border Force last month. The remainder of general aviation flights are classified as ‘low-risk’ with 30 per cent supposed to be checked, according to guidelines. But last year just 9.7 per cent of those into London City, in the east of the capital, were inspected by officers, the watchdog found during a routine inspection.

King Charles and PM Sunak’s fascist UK Cabinet smear, attack sack public servants 2:  Harry Staunton, head of Post Office, told to delay payouts to PO workers – Ex-Post Office Chair Says He Is Victim Of Government ‘Smear Campaign’ Henry Staunton, the ex-chairman of the Post Office, has said he is the victim of “a smear campaign” by business secretary Kemi Badenoch. Staunton has been engaged in bitter a war of words with Badenoch over his claim he was told by a senior civil servant to delay compensation payments to victims of the Horizon IT scandal. Badenoch, who sacked Staunton from his post, has rejected the accusation as “lies”. Staunton was made Post Office chairman in December 2022, but was sacked by Badenoch in January 2024 following the pubic outcry over the Horizon scandal. The minister has said one reason he was fired was that he failed to co-operate with an internal Post Office investigation into his behaviour. Speaking to MPs on the Commons business committee this afternoon, Staunton said he stands by his allegation, which he made in a Sunday Times interview two weeks ago. He said he “was left in no doubt” that Sarah Munby, then the top civil servant at the business department, had wanted him to slow down payments because “money is tight at the Treasury”.

These are teaching aids approved for Australian public schools. They are a scurrilous attempt to subvert the minds of the young with anti-science delusions and confusion. They create chaos in the young minds and produce mental abnormalities, thus weakening the society, priming it for takeover.

Current immunotherapies are removing the invisibility cloak that makes cancer hide within the body, but this removal is very non-specific. The use of Islamic terrorism for the political ends of Western nations is nothing new. After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1924, the British and Americans stepped in to fill the vacuum by providing their own versions of “Islamic” leaders. This started with the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was created through a grant from the British. Under British sponsorship, the Brotherhood flourished, and today represents a sizeable and powerful force in the Islamic world, but most worryingly, as the institution behind almost every act of terror in the name of Islam. More correctly, the Brotherhood has been a tool shared my numerous Western intelligence agencies, starting with the Nazis, followed by the CIA, but also the Russians, French, Germans and Israelis….

But then on Thursday morning, contractors arrived to drastically trim back the ancient hedgerow bordering the large meadow where the dormice have been found, prompting fury from environmentalists and supporters of Catherine Withers, who farms the land at Yew Tree Farm. Nasser hospital’s crisis: A life-threatening situation for doctors and patients WHO expresses concern for patients in Nasser hospital The Ministry of Health in Gaza issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that the Israeli control of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis city in the southern Gaza Strip is unbearable and constitutes a real threat to the lives of the medical staff and patients. The ministry spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qudra, stated that the medical teams are unable to provide medical care due to the lack of oxygen and necessary medical supplies. He pointed out that 45 patients have been transferred from Nasser Medical Complex to other hospitals, while the occupation continues to delay the evacuation of another 110 patients still in the hospital. The interruption of water and oxygen supply in all of Nasser’s facilities is due to the power generator being out of service, he elaborated. Al-Qudra also highlighted the accumulation of tons of medical and non-medical waste in the departments and yards of Nasser Medical Complex. He called on international institutions to exert more pressure on Israel to stop the militarization of the complex and provide medical and humanitarian needs for the patients and medical staff. He emphasized the necessity of releasing the detained medical staff and patients held by the Israeli occupation forces for the past four days without any justification….

Lubovitsch and Kolomoysky.  For the Israeli Right, the New Government Represents a Return to Its Fascist Roots With the inauguration of Israel’s new far-right government, Zionism has finally embraced the fascist ideology that inspired major sections of the movement during its formative years a century ago. Last month, Israel inaugurated what is, in effect, the first fascist government in its history. The State of Israel was the product of the Jewish nationalist movement that originated in the mass antisemitic violence of Tsarist Russia of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. Much of the world, including European Jewish communities, stood by helplessly as organized Cossack militias and other pogromists rampaged through Ukrainian Jewish shtetls raping, pillaging, and murdering tens of thousands of helpless Jews. An idealistic Hungarian journalist developed a plan to save endangered Eastern European Jewry. Theodore Herzl envisioned the Jewish homeland would become a thriving nation for these millions, who were otherwise destined for penury, privation and death. Rather than wait for the tsar and his henchmen to seal these Jews’ fate, Herzl foresaw a mass Jewish exodus from these lands of affliction to a vibrant new state awaiting them. Initially, Herzl saw this state as a haven for Eastern European Jews facing the gravest threat. But later Zionist leaders developed a far more sweeping vision of the future, in which all Jews would either choose or be forced by systemic violence to seek refuge and build a state in Palestine. Zionism, in effect, negated the entire existence of a Jewish Diaspora by claiming Jews were doomed to destruction in the face of overwhelming hatred from “gentiles.” This principle came to be known in Zionist ideology as “negation of exile.” Its corollary was a “return to history,” meaning that Zionism represented a return of the Jewish people to their rightful physical and spiritual place in the biblical land of Israel. It also signified a normalization of Jews, so that instead of being weak, hopeless, and on the margins of diasporic societies, they could be at the center and in control of their fate. That project would soon become successful — so successful that, in many ways, it would come to resemble fascism. Zionism and Socialism Almost from its inception, the Jewish national movement offered a response to the question of governing the new Jewish polity. The approach that dominated the first eight decades of the movement reflected the socialist model, which had been prevalent in post-tsarist Russia and much of Eastern Europe. The revolutionary ferment that preceded the 1917 Bolshevik revolution had a profound impact on Jews who joined the Zionist movement. They embraced socialist values and sought to incorporate them into the new Hebrew colony: namely, the overarching value of work and the worker; or, in the terminology of the day, “Hebrew labor.” Perhaps the foremost example of this was the agricultural collectivist kibbutz movement. They also called for the formation of state enterprises and nationalization of the economy, including major industries. The opposite of socialist Zionism was Revisionism. Its founder, Ze’ev Jabotinsky, advocated a form of militant Jewish nationalism. Like the socialists, Jabotinsky was a child of Eastern European Jewry. But he rejected the tenets of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Instead, he took as his model the rising populist, fascist movements in Italy and Germany. Benito Mussolini was especially to his liking: he didn’t espouse explicitly antisemitic ideas, as Adolf Hitler clearly did. Like his Italian idol, Jabotinsky projected Jewish power and a united Jewish nation intent on achieving it.

During a hearing of a corruption case today, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder requested Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the accountability court that he wanted his dental checkup done as he is 70 years old now. Khan has been facing a number of legal challenges since his ouster in April 2022 through a no-confidence motion. However, his party emerged as the largest group in the National Assembly in the February 8 polls and is in a comfortable position to form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. When the court took up the £190m settlement case today, he walked to the rostrum and asked permission for a dental check-up. To this, the judge said, he can go to the jail doctor. At the judge’s response, the PTI founder said it’s been seven months since he went for a medical check-up. The judge then directed the former premier to file a petition in this regard and the court will give an appropriate order. After this, the PTI founder filed an application in this regard. During the proceedings, the court also allowed him to meet his wife Bushra Bibi. The court then adjourned the hearing till February 27.

Farmers in India plan to resume marching to New Delhi after one dies in clash with police – Indian farmers marching on New Delhi resumed protesting against the government after violent clashes with police left one 21-year-old farmer dead following several rounds of failed talks with officials over demands for guaranteed crop prices. Some burned effigies of India’s interior minister and Modi while chanting slogans. Tens of thousands of farmers hailing mostly from the northern states of Punjab and Haryana began their “Delhi Chalo” march towards the Indian capital last week, but were stopped 125 miles from New Delhi by police firing tear gas. The protests are a continuation of similar demonstrations that happened in 2021, which saw hundreds of thousands of farmers successfully force Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to backtrack on laws meant to overhaul India’s agricultural economy, saying it would hurt their incomes. Protest leaders said they would pause their march until Feb. 29, according to the Indian Express, and police in New Delhi remain on high alert, setting up barricades of cement, barbed wire, and shipping containers on key highways to block the entry of tractors. Internet service was also restored in some areas in India on Sunday after authorities blocked connection in response to the protests.

Act specifically intended to criminalize WikiLeaks threatens whistleblowers During the 2022 House of Commons debate, knighted Conservative MP Sir Robert Buckland led the charge against WikiLeaks. Buckland, who was responsible in his former role as Secretary of State for Justice for “upholding the rule of law and protecting judicial independence,” argued that the National Security Act was a vital tool to prosecute “those such as Julian Assange who dump data in a way that has no regard for the safety of operatives and other affected people.” He later remarked, “none of us [in Parliament] wants to see Julian Assange and his type carry sway here.” The UK Supreme Court expressed a very different view when, in 2018, it held in a unanimous decision that cables published by WikiLeaks are admissible as evidence in court proceedings. Another knighted Conservative lawmaker, Sir John Hayes, dismissed suggestions the National Security Act could impact legitimate journalistic activities, arguing that it would only target “a WikiLeaks-type disclosure dressed up as being by a guardian of liberty or some such other nonsense.” Nonetheless, he conceded that while those primarily threatened by the legislation are those “working directly for a foreign power,” its targets could also include those not “ working directly for a foreign power, but…might [emphasis added] be aiding a foreign power or acting indirectly for such a foreign power.” Similarly speculative, vague language abounds throughout the Act, which criminalizes anyone who “copies,” “retains,” “discloses,” “distributes” or “provides access to” protected information, if the “foreign power condition” is satisfied. “Protected information” is defined as material which is “restricted in any way” or material which “it is reasonable to expect” would be restricted in any way. Those found guilty of sharing or publishing such information face penalties ranging from stiff fines to life imprisonment. Whether the protected information was leaked to them directly, or they simply came across it by accident, is irrelevant in the view of the British state.

Presented by Vaughan Smith Ahead of and during his trial, Julian Assange was “held under special administrative measures, which is a euphemism for torture.” According to Hrafnsson, WikiLeaks itself would also be “hampered in actually operating in the United States. Lawyers have advised WikiLeaks staff not to travel to the United States.” The reason, he explained, was the declaration by former CIA Director Mike Pompeo that WikiLeaks is considered a “non-state hostile intelligence service.” This was a “highly thought out legal definition which we now know was defined to justify the plan to kidnap or assassinate Julian Assange.” In his concluding remarks, Hrafnsson stressed the fight to bring the case to an end “immediately”, pointing to the “punishment by process” Assange was being made to endure in “an obviously deliberate attempt to wear him down” through years of legal proceedings and abuse. “The original request for an appeal went in to the courts in September 2022. The use of Islamic terrorism for the political ends of Western nations is nothing new. After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1924, the British and Americans stepped in to fill the vacuum by providing their own versions of “Islamic” leaders. This started with the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was created through a grant from the British. Under British sponsorship, the Brotherhood flourished, and today represents a sizeable and powerful force in the Islamic world, but most worryingly, as the institution behind almost every act of terror in the name of Islam. More correctly, the Brotherhood has been a tool shared my numerous Western intelligence agencies, starting with the Nazis, followed by the CIA, but also the Russians, French, Germans and Israelis….

Isaac Kneebone-Hopkins, freelance Bristol journalist, joins Tony and Martin. He has written articles for Tribune, and Bristol Cable. Recent UK by-elections. Isaac’s article is being published soon on what Bristol Council may look like after Marvin. How will Bristol’s new committee system work? They are known informally as the committee committee, with the group set up to consider how Bristol City Council will be run from May next year facing many major questions. After the next local election, the council will be run by a series of committees instead of a directly elected mayor, but it’s still far from clear exactly how this will work. Questions include what powers a council leader will have, how the public can get more involved in decision-making, spreading power out of City Hall and across Bristol, who represents the city to the government, and how quick decisions can be made in emergencies. Since the referendum in May 2022, a dozen councillors have been regularly meeting behind closed doors to thrash out these details and hear evidence from experts. On Friday, the committee committee – officially called the committee model working group – met for the first time in public. One main question facing the working group is what role and powers a future council leader will have. Regardless of the future committees, the working group agreed that the council would need a single leader to represent the city politically, be a focal point for decisions, and negotiate with the government in Westminster. But how much power should this one person have? As well as having less political power than the mayor, a future council leader would also be selected in a different way. Bristol mayor Marvin Rees and his predecessor George Ferguson were both directly elected by voters, but council leaders in most parts of the country are selected by a majority vote of councillors. This would allow councillors to boot out future leaders halfway through their term, if they were unpopular, while mayors must stay for the whole duration of their term.

Bristol Shows the Cost of Starmer’s War on Labour Members – from 2021 By Darran McLaughlin Last week, Labour lost control of Bristol council after a swing to the Green Party across the city – a sign that its leadership’s move rightwards and war on party members has real electoral costs. On the surface, the South West appeared to offer some solace for Labour among the dire local election results nationally. Marvin Rees won re-election as Mayor of Bristol and Dan Norris became the new West of England Combined Authority Mayor, a gain from the Conservatives. But dig a little deeper and the picture is a worrying one for Labour. The Party previously held 35 out of the 70 seats on Bristol city council, but after losing 13 to the Green Party over the weekend, has now lost overall control. Corbynism and the movement it brought about produced some of the Party’s best results in Bristol, but a meddling South West Labour bureaucracy and the lack of vision nationally is now pulling Labour backwards. During the Corbyn era, there was massive growth in Labour Party membership and support in Bristol. At its 2019 height, my Bristol West CLP was the largest in the country with over 4000 members. The city is also home to one of the strongest local Momentum groups and hosts the brilliant Bristol Transformed, the strongest regional example of the World Transformed festival. Our CLP sent hundreds of activists all around the South West during the 2019 election, even sending some to train members in canvassing in nearby cities and towns, and by all accounts succeeded in creating a buzzing activist culture of which any local constituency party would be proud. But the last year or so has been marked by a Labour establishment counter-revolution that has suspended activists and interfered with local Party democracy in a way that has completely demobilised our activist core. After passing a motion in support of Jeremy Corbyn in the wake of his suspension, the South West Regional Office suspended myself, the chair of Bristol West, and the chairs of Bristol North West and Bristol East.

The Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester called the reported comments a “conspiratorial narrative”, “highly offensive” and “completely fictitious”. Here is what Ali himself tweeted: Then the Daily Mail published a further story on Monday night including a recording in which someone claims that “the media, and some of the people in the media from certain Jewish quarters, were giving **** about what he said”. The Mail claims the recording is of Ali last year, talking about the suspension of Labour MP Andy McDonald for using the phrase “between the river and the sea”.

Starmer urged to suspend ALL Labour Councillors in meeting. Mike Katz, the chair of JLM, suggested that even attendance at the meeting could be enough to warrant suspension. He said: “To be in that meeting, to have heard that rhetoric, to have been a bystander … whether councillors, whether MPs, they’re there to promote community cohesion.” Genocide in Gaza. He then goes on to “shoot” an actor playing an attacker who seemed to be wearing traditional Muslim clothing. Jung said: “Let’s be very clear, he advocated shooting dead Muslims.” In another video, Navalny dressed as a dentist, appearing to compare immigrants to rotten teeth. Jung said that Navalny’s case compared unfavourably with that of Nelson Mandela, who had prisoner of conscience status removed in 1964 when he was convicted of offences related to the armed struggle against South Africa’s apartheid regime.

Work won’t begin  on Bristol’s biggest eyesore development until later this year – Developers were given permission 18 months ago but nothing has happened since Work to demolish one of Bristol’s most prominent empty eyesores – and replace it with a controversial development of offices, bars and shops – has been delayed again, and won’t now start until the middle of this year. The plan to demolish three 1960s bank buildings at the southern end of Castle Park, and replace them with three new modern office buildings, was given planning permission back in September 2022, but 18 months on nothing has happened and the developers still haven’t brought in the demolition crews. Bristol Live understands the work on the new St Mary Le Port development was set to start this month, but that has been put back to at least the summer, and could be even later this year. The plans were put forward by a company set up for the purpose, called St Mary Le Port Bristol GP, which was owned by a mixture of firms including large-scale developers Federated Hermes. After a long and controversial battle, councillors granted permission for the scheme back in December 2021 – more than two years ago now. There was a lengthy delay while that decision was challenged. Both Bristol Civic Society and the Government’s own heritage body Historic England objected to the plans, and in January 2022, the Civic Society lodged a formal application to Government minister to call in the application and order a public inquiry, because they claimed what was planned would damage the setting of the historic core of Bristol’s original city centre.

Bristol Planning Corruption 2: Government threatens Bristol council with planning takeover if it doesn’t improve The backlog of undecided planning applications is so big that the Government has now intervened The Government has written to Bristol City Council telling them that the city’s planning service is failing and if it doesn’t improve, Whitehall civil servants could take charge of deciding planning applications in Bristol instead. A senior civil servant at the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has written a letter to Bristol City Council informing council chiefs that the council is failing to properly undertake its duty as the planning authority for Bristol, and included a threat to ‘designate it’ – which means it would be put into the equivalent of ‘special measures’ and the Government could give people applying for planning permission the option to go straight to them rather than wait for City Hall to decide. Play for free.Combat Siege The lengthy backlog of planning applications being dealt with, and the time taken for the council to decide on an application, has triggered the letter from Charlotte Spencer, the director of the Leasehold, Land and Planning Systems at the DLUHC. It means now the city council has to respond to the Government and outline whether there are any errors in the statistics, or whether there are any exceptional circumstances affecting Bristol that could explain the lengthy backlog. Bristol’s Mayor Marvin Rees has blamed funding cuts from central Government for a huge backlog of planning applications that still haven’t been dealt with at City Hall, but said the planning service in the city has already begun to improve. After Bristol City Council responds, the Government department’s senior civil servants will assess whether they need to ‘designate’ Bristol City Council. A planning authority being ‘designated’ means the council has to produce an improvement action plan and work with the Government’s DLUHC ministry to improve things, but it also means people submitting planning applications in Bristol could instead submit them directly to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate, bypassing the long waiting list at City Hall.Russia gains Avdiivka in Ukraine. Oh yes, and having his wife Diana murdered  . The Freedom of Information Act came into force in 2005. It says that anyone can request information and records held by any public body. There are of course some exemptions, to protect national security and the safety of individuals. But whether it’s documents held by the prime minister’s office or records stored in your local town hall, you have a right to ask to see it. The monarchy is excluded entirely from this law. You have no right to ask the royal household for any documents or information. That’s our head of state, the most public of public authorities, totally exempt from freedom of information law. You don’t have the right to know anything about what they’re doing, or what they’re spending. Any letters, emails or documents being passed between government and other public bodies and the royals are also exempt. The patients died due to a lack of oxygen caused by an Israeli-imposed power outage that has severely restricted supplies, according to health officials. On Friday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said it was trying to gain access to the hospital, where thousands of patients, displaced people and medical staff were sheltering before being forced out at gunpoint on Thursday. “There are still critically injured and sick patients who are inside the hospital,” WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic said. “There is an urgent need to deliver fuel to ensure the continuation of the provision of life-saving services … We are trying to get access because people who are still in Nasser Medical Complex need assistance.” The Israeli military has defended the raids on what is now the largest functioning hospital in Gaza as “precise and limited”, claiming that they had detained dozens of “terrorists”, without providing any evidence.

As first reported by British broadcaster Sky News, Andrei Molodkin claims to have 16 modern and contemporary artworks collectively worth $45 million stored in a 29-ton safe alongside an “extremely corrosive” substance. The works are allegedly stored in boxes connected via a pneumatic pump to two barrels—one containing acid powder and the other an accelerator capable of causing a chemical reaction that would decimate the vault’s interior.

US Launches Airstrike in Somalia, Says Two al-Shabaab Killed – The US signed a deal on Thursday to build five new military bases for the Mogadishu-based government – Africom – US surrounding Iran. The US military announced on Wednesday that it launched an airstrike in Somalia against al-Shabaab on February 9 in support of the US-backed Mogadishu-based government. US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said the strike was launched in the vicinity of Yaq Dabel in Jubala, Somalia’s southernmost province. The attack marks the first known US airstrike in Somalia for the month of February. AFRICOM announced two airstrikes in January. The command claimed the February 9 airstrike killed two al-Shabaab fighters and that the “initial assessment” found no civilians were harmed.

But AFRICOM is notorious for undercounting civilian casualties, and US military operations in Somalia are shrouded in secrecy. AFRICOM lists as a key strategic objective the defeat of the “Al-Qaeda network.” The US Trans Sahara Counter Terrorism Partnership (TSCTP) trains and equips “partner nation forces “ to preclude terrorists from establishing sanctuaries and aims to “ultimately defeat violent extremist organizations in the region.” Apparently, after ten years of “the war on terror” an omnipotent al-Qaeda now ranges across Algeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia in Africa, across the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the UK and is such a threat within the United States itself as to require a $56 billion “Homeland Security” annual budget. The al-Qaeda threat, a hoax as likely as not, has become Washington’s best excuse for intervening in the domestic affairs of other countries and for subverting American civil liberties. Sixty-six years after the end of World War II and 20 years after the Collapse of the Soviet Union, the US still has an European Command, one of nine military commands and six regional commands. No other country feels a need for a world military presence. Why does Washington think that it is a good allocation of scarce resources to devote $1.1 trillion annually to military and security “needs”? Is this a sign of Washington’s paranoia? Is it a sign that only Washington has enemies?

Sadly, the Attorney General for England and Wales on January 4th of this year unlawfully refused our application for a second time after having withdrawn her first unlawful decision last September in response to our threat of judicial review. We now need to raise £60,000 for barrister’s fees by March 5th so that we can seek judicial review of the Attorney General’s decision in the High Court, where we are confident of prevailing. Our deadline to file for judicial review is April 3rd.

On the evening of 26 October 1988 Durrant attended a Masonic function at the Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden in his role as treasurer of the Anglo-Dutch lodge (established 1942, erased 2014 due to lack of members). He then had dinner with friends at the Sugar Loaf pub at 40 Great Queen Street (now Philomena’s Irish Bar and Kitchen) before heading home. The first puzzle is how he got to Surbiton. Did he get a train from Waterloo? It appears there were no definite witnesses to his journey apart from a possible sighting at Surbiton station. That evening his wife Margaret was visiting their son Christopher for dinner. Later that night, concerned that he had not made contact, she and Christopher decided to head back to the couple’s home at 12 Cranes Park Avenue. After entering the three-bedroom house shortly before midnight, they discovered James Durrant lying dead on the floor. He had been killed with a single blow to the front of the head with a heavy, blunt but smooth edged weapon similar to a baseball bat. He had also suffered a knife wound to the upper half of his body, according to newspaper reports. There may also have been other, undisclosed injuries. Detectives found no sign of forced entry, suggesting he was either surprised when he entered the house or was accompanied by the killer as he made his way inside. Nothing was missing from the scene other than his dark leather wallet containing cash and miscellaneous correspondence, which suggested that the motive was unlikely to be robbery. The killer had not bothered to take other cash found on the body. The porch door had been closed but left unlocked after the murder. Neither of the murder weapons had been left at the scene. At a press conference a few days later, Margaret Durrant described the killing as “very puzzling”. She was not aware of anything that might suggest he was in danger and rejected any suggesting that there was a link to his membership of the Masons. Instead she and Christopher claimed that the killer could have been a drug addict or someone in need of money who followed the victim home from the railway station.

The Story of St Mary le Port: short(ish) version by Joe Banks  – Political interference, specialists sidelined and developer power: office block scheme at the historic heart of the city reveals important insights into Bristol’s planning and development regime – Joe Banks – Two significant things are set to happen in Bristol in 2024: Mayor Marvin Rees departs City Hall in May and construction work will begin on a major new development at the historic heart of the city. If one of the enduring legacies of Rees’ time in office will be a wave of crass buildings across the city, the imminent scheme at St Mary le Port may well stand as the most totemic example. The office block development was approved by a council planning committee in December 2021, got held up by an unsuccessful appeal to the Secretary of State from the Bristol Civic Society, and finally received planning permission in September 2022. Nothing has happened on site yet but I’ve been assured by the developer’s PR consultants that work will start this year. The story of its journey through the planning system exposes many of the features of the current planning and development regime that has incited recent public anger: political interference from the Mayor’s Office, disdain for transparency and due process, the sidelining of the council’s own placemaking specialists, and the green light given to developers to create bland, poorly designed places. The remains of St Mary le Port church sit on the western edge of Castle Park, surrounded by three derelict office buildings from the 1960s and 70s. This is where the city began, by the crossing of the Avon where Bristol Bridge stands today. The area around the ancient crossroads of High Street, Wine Street, Broad Street and Corn Street was the heart of the city from its early beginnings in late Saxon times to the devastation of the Second World War. The Bristol Blitz of November 1940 saw the entire quarter of tightly-packed streets on the eastern side, then the city’s bustling shopping and entertainment district, sent up in flames. What little survived was later demolished and the area was turned into Castle Park in the late 1970s.

Evan Davis BBC interviews Laura Trott, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and it’s worrying how little she knows about government debt. Laura Trott accused of not knowing ‘basic facts of her job’ after questions over debt – A Treasury minister has been accused of not knowing “the basic facts of her job” after struggling to answer questions about the rise in national debt. Labour said it was “terrifying” that Laura Trott is in charge of the country’s finances after she was challenged for repeatedly claiming that debt is falling as a proportion of GDP. Ms Trott, the chief secretary to the Treasury, said she had “different figures” when she was presented with the latest official projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), which suggest an increase in debt over the next five years. According to the fiscal watchdog’s November outlook, debt is forecast to climb as a percentage of national income from 89% in 2023/24 to 92.8% in 2028/29. Appearing on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, Ms Trott was asked how the government can afford potential tax cuts ahead of the next election, given that one of Rishi Sunak’s five key pledges is to reduce national debt. She said: “The central pledge… is that debt needs to be falling over the five-year fiscal forecast as a percentage of GDP, which it is.” Presenter Evan Davis, a former economist, interjected, telling her the debt is set to be “higher in five years than now” and pointing to the latest projections. She maintained debt is falling as a percentage of GDP, but when challenged again, Ms Trott appeared to start saying “I’m not sure”, to which Davis replied: “This is really basic… I’m amazed that you don’t know that debt is rising.” The minister said: “I think I need to have the figures. I’ve got different figures which… I think we just need to… yeah.” She did not specify which figures she meant.

Anti-Zionist views protected after tribunal makes landmark ruling in favour of sacked professor Dr David Miller Anti-Zionism is a legally protected characteristic a tribunal has ruled after it found in favour of a sacked university professor. Professor David Miller successfully claimed discrimination based on his philosophical belief that Zionism is inherently racist, imperialist and colonial. Lawyers representing Prof Miller said the judgment established for the first time that anti-Zionist beliefs are protected in the workplace. Prof Miller was a professor of political sociology at the University of Bristol from 2018 until 2021. In 2019, he sparked anger among Jewish students after describing the “Zionist movement” as one of the “five pillars of Islamophobia.” Since being dismissed, the professor, who works for Iranian state-owned television channel Press TV, has described Israel as “the enemy of world peace”. The professor claimed that he was subject to an organised campaign by groups and individuals opposed to his anti-Zionist views. He also alleged that the university failed to support him and unfairly dismissed him. In a judgment handed down by Judge Rohan Pirani, the Bristol employment tribunal ruled that the professor’s anti-Zionist beliefs qualified as a philosophical belief and as a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. It found that he was subject to direct discrimination because of his anti-Zionist belief in relation to the university’s decision to sack him. However, it dismissed further claims of indirect and direct discrimination. Zillur Rahman, partner at law firm Rahman Lowe, who represented Prof Miller, said: “This is a landmark case and marks a pivotal moment in the history of our country for those who believe in upholding the rights of Palestinians.” Prof Miller said: “I am extremely pleased that the tribunal has concluded that I was unfairly and wrongfully dismissed by the University of Bristol. I am also very proud that we have managed to establish that anti-Zionist views qualify as a protected belief under the UK Equality Act. “This was the most important reason for taking the case and I hope it will become a touchstone precedent in all the future battles that we face with the racist and genocidal ideology of Zionism and the movement to which it is attached.” The Union of Jewish Students said it was “disappointed” by the decision which could set a “dangerous precedent.”

Farmers protests around Europe and massive meeting in Welspool tnight of Welsh farmers Farmers consider Cardiff protest over Welsh government policies Farmers who believe they have been forgotten in rural Wales could protest to politicians in Cardiff. Hundreds met at Welshpool livestock market, in Powys, to object to Welsh government policies on Thursday. Organisers said more than 1,000 people attended to discuss proposed funding changes they believe will hit agriculture hard. The Welsh government said it was committed to agriculture and that it was a challenging time for all sectors. Dairy farmer Dai Miles, from Pembrokeshire, said: “There’s quite a feeling of anger and frustration here. We’re continually having regulations. “As a livestock farmer you’re being tarnished as the worst polluter in the world. No-one seems to be listening.” Meeting chairman Wyn Evans said: “Enough is enough. People have had enough that there’s nothing happening in Cardiff Bay. “They’re not listening to rural communities, they’re not listening to farming families, they’re not listening to farming unions.” Rules aimed at cutting agricultural pollution in rivers, and concerns about TB were among issues raised. There were calls for farmers to take their message to Cardiff Bay. “There was a strong consensus to take this forward down to Cardiff,” Mr Evans said. “There’s a similar meeting in the south next week and a decision will be made when nd what to do down in Cardiff Bay.” The Welsh government said it was committed to the sector and had protected the basic payment scheme (BPS) budget at £238m for 2024, which it said was the same level as 2023. A spokesman said: “This is an extremely challenging time across all sectors, with our overall budget worth £1.3bn less in real terms than when it was in 2021. “We also continue to feel the impact of decisions taken by the UK government which mean we have lost £243m in replacement EU funding.”

Farmers bring down statue in Brussels protest as 1,000 tractors block roads Protest on day of EU summit comes as France lays out concessions to protesters – leading to union bosses to call on farmers in the country to go home Angry farmers clog roads with 1,000 tractors around EU summit in Brussels Emmanuel Macron has said that Europe’s farming sector is facing a major crisis and needs to “profoundly” change its rules after more than 1,000 tractors brought part of Brussels to a standstill, calling on EU leaders to do more to support them with rising costs and environmental rules. Farmers in several countries across Europe have been blocking roads for days as part of protests, with France particularly hard hit. Speaking after a leaders’s summit in the Belgian capital, the French president said that Europe is not “deaf” to the plight of farmers and that simplified regulations across the EU would help. The statement came after France laid out plans for some concessions to the protesters, leading to unions to call on them to go home. Earlier in the day, farmers threw eggs and stones at the European parliament, started fires near the building and toppled a statue of John Cockerill – a British-Belgian who helped Belgium’s industrial revolution – who the protesters potentially mistook for someone connected to the EU. Small groups tried to tear down the barriers erected in front of the parliament – a few streets from where the leaders’ summit was taking place – but police fired tear gas and sprayed water at the farmers with hoses to push them back. Major thoroughfares in Brussels were blocked by around 1,300 tractors, according to police. Security personnel in riot gear stood guard behind barriers where the leaders were meeting at European Council headquarters. “If you see with how many people we are here today, and if you see it’s all over Europe, so you must have hope,” said Kevin Bertens, a farmer from just outside Brussels. “You need us. Help us!” Farmers from Italy, Spain and other European countries took part in the demonstration in Brussels, as well as continuing their protests at home. In Portugal, farmers made their way to the Spanish border at the crack of dawn to block some of the roads links between the two countries. One of Belgium’s biggest supermarket chains Colruyt said on Thursday three of its distribution centres were blocked by protesting farmers, leading to disruptions in its supply chain. Centres located in Ollignies, Ghislenghien and Halle in central western Belgium, which supply Colruyt’s Belgian shops with dry food, water and drinks, and fresh and frozen products, were no longer accessible. “At the moment, stock is still available in our shops… [but] it is inevitable that products will eventually be missing from the shelves,” Colruyt said in a statement, adding that it was difficult to make definitive statements on timing as shops have different stock levels.

After survey, Barton House flat left in a terrible mess Barton House evacuation: ‘Structural issues’ were flagged to Bristol City Council in 2022 – Max Walsh – tructural issues at the Barton House tower block in Bristol were flagged to the city council in August 2022, more than a year before the building was eventually evacuated. Council staff decided the risks detailed in a report “could be mitigated”, but then in November 2023 engineers reviewed the report and sounded the alarm. More than 400 people – including around 100 children – were told to pack a bag of clothes and leave their homes in the tower block on the evening of Tuesday 14 November. Council bosses were told a fire in a single flat could lead to the building collapsing. Now it has been revealed that the government wrote a letter to councils in 2017 urging them to check their large-panel system buildings after large cracks appeared on tower blocks in London built in the same way. The council commissioned a report into Barton House and other LPS buildings. However, it didn’t receive this report until August 2022, when staff decided that the risks at Barton House could be managed. Arup, an engineering consultancy, then conducted a peer review of the survey in November 2023 and came to a very different conclusion.

More than 800 serving officials in the US and Europe have signed a statement warning that their own governments’ policies on the Israel-Gaza war could amount to “grave violations of international law”. The “transatlantic statement”, a copy of which was passed to the BBC, says their administrations risk being complicit in “one of the worst human catastrophes of this century” but that their expert advice has been sidelined. It is the latest sign of significant levels of dissent within the governments of some of Israel’s key Western allies. One signatory to the statement, a US government official with more than 25 years’ national security experience, told the BBC of the “continued dismissal” of their concerns. “The voices of those who understand the region and the dynamics were not listened to,” said the official. “What’s really different here is we’re not failing to prevent something, we’re actively complicit. That is fundamentally different from any other situation I can recall,” added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The statement is signed by civil servants from the US, the EU and 11 European countries including the UK, France and Germany.

Kirby participated in NSA’s investigation of the attack and reviewed translations of intercepted communications between pilots and their headquarters which he reports show conclusively that they knew their target was an American ship. The USS Liberty Attack On June 8, 1967 by Silurian – The cover-up was immediate and extensive – going all the way to the Johnson White House. Israel eventually paid 13 million USD in indemnities to the US Federal Government, the 174 wounded survivors of the attack, and the family members of the 34 men killed. Which means they simply returned some of America’s tax dollars. Interestingly, the rear admiral commanding the nearest US Navy carrier task force ordered American fighter planes, which were only fifteen minutes away, to fly to the defense of the Liberty; however, his order was countermanded by the commander of US Naval forces in Europe. The carrier admiral was George S. Morrison – the father of rock legend Jim Morrison. The admiral who countermanded the order was John S. McCain Jr. – the father of the 2008 Republican US Presidential candidate, John McCain III. Rear Admiral Morrison fiercely opposed the official report – which exonerated Israel of any wrongdoing; and, though he was at the time of the incident the youngest admiral in the US Navy, he never rose to higher rank.

It took a half-dozen men to wrench the .22-caliber pistol out of Sirhan’s grip.

The 33-year-old was a paranoid schizophrenic, known to mental health services since 2020. He had admitted to professionals that he was no longer taking his medication in 2021, was arrested on multiple occasions after acts of violence, and was sectioned under the Mental Health Act four times. He even visited MI5 in London to “hand himself in”. Mental health professionals had not seen Calocane since March 2022, when he was reviewed at a discharge clinic. His extensive track record raises many questions for the authorities that exist to keep us all safe. How was such a dangerous person allowed to wander the streets of Nottingham undetected? Was information about this man being shared effectively? Before Calocane was due to be sentenced on January 25 for killing three people and injuring three others, Assistant Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police Rob Griffin gave an interview where he said: “My honest assessment is no, I don’t think we could have done anything that would have made any difference and would have prevented what happened on that day.”

There were also rumours that in his youth Summers had dabbled in the occult. Curiously enough, the same rumours, albeit unfounded, persist about Bishop Manchester. If true, the only effect seems to have been to deter Montague Summers against such meddling. He may have been fascinated, even obsessed by witches, vampires and the like but the tone of Montague Summers’ writings is consistently hostile towards them. Ditto goes for Bishop Seán Manchester who is believed to have infiltrated occult groups in order to later expose their depraved goings-on. Montague Summers was a contemporary of the notorious Satanist Aleister Crowley with whom he was acquainted. Likewise, Bishop Manchester is at least two contemporary Crowley devotees of a later generation whom he met and interviewed during the 1970s and 1980s. .
