‘Surviving Oct 7: We Will Dance Again’ documentary on BBC. Jonathan Cook article on the horror of the pro-genocide bias of this film. title Israelis will dance again, vows BBC film. Will Gaza’s children ever get to dance? Gaza’s children have no voice. Their tears evaporate in the summer heat, and merge with the winter rain. No one comes to make a documentary about them. No one comes at all Jonathan Cook It says much about the institutional racism of the BBC that it thinks Surviving October 7: We Will Dance Again is a suitable title for its documentary marking the first anniversary of the massacre of Israelis at the Nova rave. Presumably the programme-makers believed it suggested healing and empowerment for those who survived October 7, rather than, as it does, continuing indifference to the horrifying plight of the people of Gaza who live – or, in so many cases, have died – just a stone’s throw from where the Nova festival was held. At the time of the rave, Palestinians were trapped in the concentration camp of Gaza, under a medieval-style siege by land, sea and air that Israel had imposed on them for 17 years. Until, that is, Hamas broke out for one day, on October 7, briefly spreading carnage in its wake. Like most other Israelis, the partygoers at Nova either did not know or did not care that so much suffering was happening just out of view in Gaza. They know now. As do the programme-makers. Tens of thousands of Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been slaughtered by Israel’s bombs over the past year. The rest are being starved to death by an intensified Israeli siege. The International Court of Justice has ruled that a “plausible” case has been made that Israel is committing a genocide. Though no western politicians or media ever mention it, Israel is, in fact, on trial at this very moment at the world’s highest court, charged with the ultimate crime against humanity. So what is the title “We will dance again” meant to convey? That Israelis can get back to partying because the deaths and suffering they experienced at Hamas’ hands lasted only a day?

Project For The New American Century plans.  Unknown traders appear to have anticipated October 7 Hamas attack, research finds — Bets against the value of Israeli companies spiked in the days before the October 7th Hamas attacks, suggesting some traders may have had advance knowledge of the looming terror attack and profited off it, according to new research released Monday. The preliminary research, which hasn’t been peer reviewed, is from law professors at Columbia University and New York University and details a “significant” and “unusual” spike five days before the attacks in short selling in the most popular fund linked to Israeli companies. Short selling is a way to bet against the value of a security. Those bets against the value of the MSCI Israel Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) in the days before the October 7 attack “far exceeded” the short selling activity that took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2014 Israel-Gaza war and the 2008 global financial crisis, the paper finds. “Our findings suggest that traders informed about the coming attacks profited from these tragic events,” the authors wrote.

Until 1997 A.B. “Buzzy” Krongard had been Chairman of the investment bank A.B. Brown. A.B. Brown was acquired by Banker’s Trust in 1997. Krongard then became, as part of the merger, Vice Chairman of Banker’s Trust-AB Brown, one of 20 major U.S. banks named by Senator Carl Levin this year as being connected to money laundering. Krongard’s last position at Banker’s Trust (BT) was to oversee “private client relations.” In this capacity he had direct hands-on relations with some of the wealthiest people in the world in a kind of specialized banking operation that has been identified by the U.S. Senate and other investigators as being closely connected to the laundering of drug money. He was promoted to CIA Executive Director by President Bush in March of this year. BT was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1999. The combined firm is the single largest bank in Europe. And, as we shall see, Deutsche Bank played several key roles in events connected to the September 11 attacks.

Netanyahu’s words on 9/11 – ‘It’s very good’ article “It’s very good”: Recalling Benjamin Netanyahu’s words on the day of the 9/11 attacks -. Today, the eleventh anniversary of the 11 September 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, I was struck by the news in Haaretz: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday launched an unprecedented verbal attack on the US government over its stance on the Iranian nuclear program. “The world tells Israel ‘wait, there’s still time’. And I say, ‘Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” Netanyahu told reporters on Tuesday. Eleven years ago on this day, as the world looked on in stunned horror as the towers came down in New York, the same Netanyahu was already thinking strategically. Here’s how The New York Times reported it: Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, “It’s very good.” Then he edited himself: “Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.” He predicted that the attack would “strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we’ve experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.”

“9-11/Israel did it” – Evidence for the proposition that the Israeli deep state was involved in the 9-11 event. This article presents evidence that the Israeli deep state was a prime mover in the events of 9-11. Note that it does not imply that other groups (i.e. the US deep state and maybe others like the Saudi Arabian deep state) were not involved in both the commission and cover up of the September 11 attacks. In 2018, after Emeritus Professor Kees van der Pijl tweeted support for this page, the University of Sussex, where he headed the Department of International Relations for 12 years, announced that it would investigate him. This was picked up by the UK Independent and the Daily Mail, although discussion centred on whether or not he should be subject to disciplinary action rather whether or not his allegations were correct.[5][6][7] Control of World Trade Center Complex One of the first operational steps in preparation for the 9/11 attacks would have been to secure control of the World Trade Centre Complex itself. This is crucial because without complete control, the setting of explosives to bring down the towers would be next to impossible without serious risk of discovery. Silverstein obtained a 99 year lease on the entire world trade center complex on 24 July, 2001. The towers were in fact close to worthless, being filled with asbestos,[8] yet Silverstein “felt a compelling urge to own them” and took out specific insurance against acts of “terrorism”. Silverstein had breakfast in “Windows on the World” restaurant (located in North Tower 107th Floor) every morning. [9] but broke this routine on the morning of 11 September 2001. Silverstein’s two children, who also worked in the WTC, were also absent from work that day. Larry Silverstein was paid $4.55 billion in insurance money as a result of the destruction of the WTC complex[10]. He also sued the airlines and airport security, seeking $12.3 billion in damages, though his ultimate payout after a 13 years legal struggle was just $95.2 million.[11] Silverstein was a personal friend of media-magnate Rupert Murdoch and former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon. Haaretz reported that he was such good friends with Benjamin Netanyahu that he spoke with him on the phone every Sunday.[12] Larry Silverstein hid his role in 9/11? Frank Lowy, a Czechoslovakia born Jew, was the owner of Westfield America, one of the biggest shopping mall conglomerates in the world. Lowy leased the shopping concourse area called the Mall at the World Trade Center, made up of approximately 427,000 square feet of retail floor space. Frank Lowy was a member of the Golani Brigade, and fought in the Israeli war of independence.[clarification needed] Before this he was a member of Hagganah. He spends three months of the year at his home in Israel and has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as “a self-made man with a strong interest in the Holocaust and Israeli politics.” He funded and launched the Israeli Institute for National Strategy and Policy, which will “operate within the framework of Tel Aviv University” in Israel. He is also close friends with many top Israeli officials such as Ehud Olmert, Ariel Sharon, Bibi Netanyahu, and Ehud Barak. He was implicated in an Israeli Bank Scandal with Olmert.[13] Frank Lowy was not at the WTC on 9/11. Lewis Eisenberg – Eisenberg was the head of the Port Authority of New York and authorized the lease transfer to Silverstein and Lowy. [14] Eisenberg was a large contributor to the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign, as well as a partner in Goldman Sachs. Eisenberg has been both a member of the Planning Board of the United Jewish Appeal/United Jewish Federation pro-Israeli government pressure group in the U.S. [15] Ronald Lauder – Billionaire Estée Lauder Cosmetics magnate. He was the chairman of NY Governor George Pataki’s commission on privatization. He is the key individual who lobbied for the privatization of the WTC[16] — but he was also instrumental in the successful privatisation of the former Stewart Air Force Base. Oddly, the flight paths of flight 175 and flight 11 converged directly over this airport. Map Lauder was active[When?] in the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations , Jewish National Fund, World Jewish Congress, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Anti-Defamation League and Jewish Theological Seminary. He was elected president of the World Jewish Congress on 10 June, 2007. He founded a school for the Mossad in Herzliya, Israel called the Lauder School of Government Diplomacy and Strategy. He is arguably the key Sayan in the preparation of 9/11.

Roger Cook – The Cook Report – smuggling bombs on to planes – The Cook Report – Terror in the Skies/Bombs on Planes S14E01 (1996) – Roger Cook Reports – The Cook Report was prompted to make the programme by Dr Jim Swire, whose 23-year-old daughter Flora was amongst 270 victims when a terrorist bomb brought down Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie in December 1988. Dr Swire subsequently became a spokesman for all the bereaved British relatives. He had run a small-scale test, successfully smuggling a dummy replica of the Lockerbie bomb through the airport security systems in London and New York – and suggested that the Cook Report could do it on a much larger scale with a correspondingly larger public impact. The programme’s first test involved sending a suitcase containing a mock Semtex bomb from Ancona in Italy, via Rome, to Gatwick. The suitcase was checked in at Ancona without any problems and then its ‘owner ‘got off the plane in Rome, leaving a theoretically lethal package to continue undetected and unaccompanied on its way to Gatwick. It was ludicrously easy, and the same dummy bomb got through X-ray and security procedures at no fewer than nine different airports on both sides of the Atlantic. Worst was Logan in Boston, which Mohamed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 terrorists, later chose as his departure point prior to hijacking the aircraft that demolished the Twin Towers. Research for the programme also took it to Manila, where the police had discovered details of an extraordinary plot to blow up the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. The evidence was discovered on a laptop computer left behind by a terrorist fleeing an unintended explosion in a bomb factory in a local apartment block. The programme was later able to reveal previously unknown links that led all the way from that bomb maker to Osama bin Laden. Manila’s Police Chief, Hermogenes J. Ebdane Junior – a retired general and future national security adviser – gave the Cook Report exclusive access to the computer’s files because he said the US Authorities, including the FBI and the CIA, simply weren’t interested. That was five years before 9/11 and had that evidence been followed up, then the lives of 2,973 people might not have been lost.

9/11 Made For Television:  Tania Head claimed for years to be in twin towers on 9/11 – she turned out to be a fake and vanished. Pearl Harbour LIHOP. How she build confidence and trust, made a huge contribution to the 911 Survival Memorium. Then only to be revealed as a liar, who was nowhere near the WTC on 11th September. Tania Head had one of the most tragic and inspiring stories to come out of the Sept. 11 attacks. She was in the south tower, on the same floor that the second plane hit. She saw horrific carnage and was handed a wedding ring by a dying man who requested that she give it to his wife. Then she was led to safety by Welles Crowther, the famous “man in the red bandanna,” who lost his own life rescuing others. And finally, she woke up in a hospital burn unit six days later, only to find out that her husband had been killed in the north tower. Head became the face of the Sept. 11 survivors movement, telling her story to the media and to tour groups at ground zero. There was just one problem: Not a word of it was true. “Her real name wasn’t Tania Head at all,” author and documentary filmmaker Angelo Guglielmo tells weekends on All Things Considered host Guy Raz. “She was actually not even in the United States on Sept. 11.”

Coups in Latin America common. “Make the Economy Scream”: Secret Documents Show Nixon, Kissinger Role Backing 1973 Chile Coup Peter Kornbluh author of The Pinochet File: A Declassified Dossier on Atrocity and Accountability, just updated in a newly released edition for the 40th anniversary of the Chilean Coup. He is also director of the Chile Documentation Project at the National Security Archive. He just returned from Chile, and his latest article for The Nation magazine is “Chileans Confront Their Own 9/11.” We continue our coverage of the 40th anniversary of the overthrow of Chilean President Salvador Allende with a look at the critical U.S. role under President Richard Nixon and his national security adviser, Henry Kissinger. Peter Kornbluh, who spearheaded the effort to declassify more than 20,000 secret documents that revealed the role of the CIA and the White House in the Chilean coup, discusses how Nixon and Kissinger backed the Chilean military’s ouster of Allende and then offered critical support as it committed atrocities to cement its newfound rule. Kornbluh is author of the newly updated book, “The Pinochet File: A Declassified Dossier on Atrocity and Accountability,” and director of the Chile Documentation Project at the National Security Archive. In 1970, the CIA’s deputy director of plans wrote in a secret memo: “It is firm and continuing policy that Allende be overthrown by a coup. … It is imperative that these actions be implemented clandestinely and securely so that the USG [the U.S. government] and American hand be well hidden.” That same year President Nixon ordered the CIA to “make the economy scream” in Chile to “prevent Allende from coming to power or to unseat him.” We’re also joined by Juan Garcés, a former personal adviser to Allende who later led the successful legal effort to arrest and prosecute coup leader

The Colony: Chile’s dark past uncovered – How did a secret German sect in Chile become a haven for Nazi fugitives and a torture centre for the Pinochet regime? Forty years after the US-backed military coup that brought General Augusto Pinochet to power in Chile, the truth about the sordid abuses and crimes that took place during his dictatorship are still emerging. The mountains of Patagonia in southern Chile witnessed a particularly bizarre chapter of the Pinochet era; one that is still claiming victims today. In 1961, a former Nazi corporal called Paul Schaefer fled Germany, along with hundreds of others, to found a sect in southern Chile. In an idyllic rural enclave framed by the Andes Mountains he created a virtual state within a state – one where horrifying events unfolded. Initially with the ignorance of the government, and then with the complicity of the Pinochet regime, children were separated from their parents at birth and raised in a Kinder House. Men and women were kept apart and often drugged, while Schaefer systematically sexually abused boys and, occasionally, girls. It also served as a haven for Nazi fugitives – such as Walter Rauff, the inventor of the portable gas chamber, and Joseph Mengele, the so-called ‘Angel of Death’ – who were permitted to hide out there in exchange for overseeing sophisticated forms of torture. All of this took place with the full knowledge of the Pinochet regime, whose notorious intelligence chief, General Manuel Contreras, would often visit the site.

Britain paying highest electricity prices in the world Cost of power for industrial businesses now four times more expensive than in US British companies are paying the highest electricity prices of anywhere in the developed world, official data has shown. The cost of power for industrial businesses has jumped 124pc in just five years, according to the Government’s figures, catapulting the UK to the top of international league tables. It is now about 50pc more expensive than in Germany and France, and four times as expensive as in the US. The figures will fuel concerns about the future of UK industry amid warnings that high energy prices are crippling domestic manufacturers. They underline the challenge facing Ed Miliband, the Energy Secretary, who wants industrial businesses to switch away from gas to electricity-powered processes. Frank Aaskov, the director of energy at lobby group UK Steel, said: “High industrial electricity prices have for too long damaged the competitiveness of UK steelmaking, and many in the wider manufacturing sector will be feeling the same pressure our steel companies do. “The Government should tackle steep electricity costs and make the UK a fruitful place to invest, while enabling growth and improving competitiveness.” The electricity price paid by UK industrial users per kilowatt hour rose to 25.85p in 2023, the data show. That compares to 10.43p as recently as five years earlier and 8.89p a decade ago. It also far outstripped European rivals and allies such as the US and Canada. The equivalent price was 17.84p in France, 17.71p in Germany and 6.48p in the US. Across all the 31 member countries of the International Energy Agency, which collates the data, the median price was 17.70p per kilowatt hour, with Britain’s price higher than any other country. It comes after paper and packaging giant DS Smith told The Telegraph that high power prices risked becoming a barrier to investment, while steel producers – including Tata, the owner of Port Talbot – have warned ministers they “must deliver” more competitive prices. Yet many manufacturers are being encouraged to ditch industrial processes that use fossil fuels such as natural gas and switch over to electricity, as part of efforts to reach net zero carbon emissions. For example, Tata is in the process of closing its last blast furnace and transitioning to an electric arc furnace. Meanwhile, heavily polluting businesses must pay for any carbon emissions that exceed a legally allowed threshold. Despite this, a report by UK Steel this month described the electricity price as “a barrier to growth, competitiveness and profitability”. Successive governments have attempted to bring down Britain’s power costs, with the Conservatives most recently introducing the “supercharger” discount for energy-intensive businesses such as steel producers and glass makers. The supercharger strips out the majority of network costs and green levies. However, even after this huge discount UK Steel said power remained roughly twice as expensive as in Germany. It blamed the disparity on the UK’s electricity generation mix being “more dependent on gas”, with high natural gas prices pushing up UK power prices. The UK generated 33.7pc of its power using gas in 2023, compared to 17.1pc in Germany and just 5.9pc in nuclear-dominated France. In the UK, wind was in second, generating 28.7pc. But the wholesale price of electricity is set by the most expensive method needed to meet demand. Because renewables such as wind and solar currently do not meet this demand on their own, it almost always tracks the price of gas. For example, on late Thursday afternoon, gas was still being burned to generate 20pc of Britain’s power, while 35.6pc and 10.7pc were generated by wind and solar respectively. Against this backdrop, the Government has previously considered trying to decouple gas from the electricity price so that companies could instead pay a lower rate linked to renewables. But in a consultation published in March on reforms to the electricity market, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero said it had dropped the proposal. It said this was “on the basis that they would not deliver benefits for consumers and fail in our assessment against our criteria of deliverability and investor confidence”. A Government spokesman said: “We are already bringing energy costs for UK industries closer in line with other major economies through the British Industry Supercharger. “This fully exempts eligible firms from certain costs linked to renewable energy policies, particularly those exposed to the high cost of electricity. “Our mission is for clean power by 2030 because clean, homegrown energy is the best way to protect billpayers and boost Britain’s energy independence, with improving infrastructure at the heart of this mission.”

His book, The 4th Bomb, which he discusses in this programme carries a very different version of events to the official version; a very worryingly different version indeed. Many see this so called ‘coincidence’ as the strongest evidence yet of state involvement. Peter Power Terror Drill Inquest – Nov 4th With Daniel Obachike – Bus Survivor & Eye Witness Many who’ve heard of or read my story ask me to explain more about the Peter Power Terror Drills I witnessed that day, as I only gave it a breif mention in The 4th Bomb. Many see this so called ‘coincidence’ as the strongest evidence yet of state involvement. I came to this book from the perspective of someone who already knew about the large number of inconsistencies surrounding the 9/11 attacks in America. I was curious about the London attacks and amazed to learn that both these attacks had something in common: terror drills of the exact same scenarios were being conducted when those events went live. Can it really be just a coincidence? Luckily we have a survivor’s account to tell us what the media would not about the events of 7/7. Luckily we have a man who had the wherewithal to take notes and ask questions, and to keep tabs on how the media reported the story and how their story kept changing. Yes, the book could have been proofread better, and at first one does question the need for frequent passages about flirting with women in the tube etc. But I think they just go to show Daniel Obachike’s attention to detail and honesty about his mindset. The way the book is written shows Obachike is just an ordinary man who was caught up in extraordinary events. Traumatic as those events were, he did not just try to sweep them under the rug and forget. No, he did the brave thing by sharing his story with the world, and it is a story worth reading.

Israel raids Al Jazeera offices in West Bank – – Israel accused the Qatar-owned network of “incitement to and support of terrorism.” Israeli troops raided Al Jazeera’s offices in the West Bank early on Sunday and ordered the station to shut down for 45 days. Al Jazeera reported that “heavily armed and masked Israeli soldiers forcefully entered” the network’s offices in Ramallah and handed the West Bank bureau chief, Walid al-Omari, the closure order, which accused the station of “incitement to and support of terrorism.” “Targeting journalists this way always aims to erase the truth and prevent people from hearing the truth,” al-Omari said, Al Jazeera reported. Israel’s Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi posted about the raid on social media, calling Al Jazeera “the mouthpiece of Hamas and Hezbollah.” “We will continue to fight enemy channels and ensure the safety of our heroic fighters,” Karhi said. This isn’t the first time Israel has cracked down on Al Jazeera, one of the only media outlets broadcasting from the Gaza Strip. In May, Israel raided and closed the network’s East Jerusalem office, banning the company’s websites and broadcasts in the country. The initial closure order was also for 45 days, but it was renewed, Al Jazeera said….

The great Murdoch succession battle Last year, Rupert petitioned to amend the 1999 irrevocable trust agreement to give Lachlan control of his empire. The request is being challenged in a Nevada court by James, Elisabeth, and Prudence. The hearings for the case started on 16 September. If Rupert can persuade the court he’s acting in good faith and in the best interests of his heirs, then the irrevocable trust agreement can be changed. He’s expected to argue that giving Lachlan control will actually benefit his siblings, since it will maintain his companies’ conservative stance and ensure their profitability. Rupert’s concern is that the liberal trio may outvote Lachlan and take the firms in a more liberal direction, damaging them commercially. The outcome of the case could dramatically alter the trajectory of Fox News and the empire’s other key assets, potentially leading to a more moderate direction if James, Elisabeth, and Prudence prevail. Putin changes nuclear doctrine this week – his speech on first strike against NATO/Ukraine. Putin issues nuclear warning to the West over strikes on Russia from Ukraine MOSCOW, Sept 25 (Reuters) – President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday that Russia could use nuclear weapons if it was struck with conventional missiles, and that Moscow would consider any assault on it supported by a nuclear power to be a joint attack. The decision to change Russia’s official nuclear doctrine is the Kremlin’s answer to deliberations in the United States and Britain about whether or not to give Ukraine permission to fire conventional Western missiles into Russia. Russia reserved the right to also use nuclear weapons if it or ally Belarus were the subject of aggression, including by conventional weapons, Putin said. Putin said the clarifications were carefully calibrated and commensurate with the modern military threats facing Russia – confirmation that the nuclear doctrine was changing. Russia’s current published nuclear doctrine, set out in a 2020 decree by Putin, says Russia may use nuclear weapons in case of a nuclear attack by an enemy or a conventional attack that threatens the existence of the state. The innovations outlined by Putin include a widening of the threats under which Russia would consider a nuclear strike, the inclusion of ally Belarus under the nuclear umbrella and the idea that a rival nuclear power supporting a conventional strike on Russia would also be considered to be attacking it. The United States in 2022 was so concerned about the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia that it warned Putin over the consequences of using such weapons, according to Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns.

Telegram will now hand over IP addresses, phone numbers of suspects to cops – Maybe a spell in a French cell changed Durov’s mind In a volte-face, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced that the made-in-Russia messaging platform will become a lot less cozy for criminals. “We have updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, ensuring they are consistent across the world,” Durov said. “We’ve made it clear that the IP addresses and phone numbers of those who violate our rules can be disclosed to relevant authorities in response to valid legal requests.” A glance at current and past terms and conditions for the service, which offers private and public instant messaging, finds that the original fine print reads, “If Telegram receives a court order that confirms you’re a terror suspect, we may disclose your IP address and phone number to the relevant authorities. So far, this has never happened.” This has now changed to: “If Telegram receives a valid order from the relevant judicial authorities that confirms you’re a suspect in a case involving criminal activities that violate the Telegram Terms of Service, we will perform a legal analysis of the request and may disclose your IP address and phone number to the relevant authorities.” As you can see, a shift from cooperating with terror investigations to criminal probes in general. This is fairly significant as Telegram pretty much billed itself as a haven for those avoiding government surveillance and investigations. It offer a degree of end-to-end encryption for its users – more on that below – and organized its IT infrastructure around the world to effectively resist handing over information about its users to the authorities, which made it a destination for all kinds of netizens, good and bad.

Biomass magazine – Drax pay 25 million Euros to OfGem to not investigate – Power station operator, Drax, has agreed to pay £25 million after an energy watchdog found it submitted inaccurate data. Ofgem found it failed to report data adequately after an investigation into the company’s profiling data, which is characterising where the biomass comes from. A former coal-fired power station, Drax is now the UK’s largest biomass generator. Biomass involves burning wood or plants to create heat, transport fuel or electricity, and Biomass generators have become a key part of the government’s drive to meet climate targets. The power plant in, Selby, North Yorkshire receives hefty Government subsidies from burning biomass wood chips. Ofgem said it lacked the necessary data governance and controls in place, meaning it did not give the regulator accurate and robust data on the type of wood it uses.

Google (NSA front) won legal bid to not pay 1.5bn Euro fine to EU – Google wins legal bid to overturn 1.5 billion euro antitrust fine in EU digital ad case LONDON (AP) — Google (GOOG) won a court challenge on Wednesday against a 1.49 billion euro ($1.66 billion) European Union antitrust fine imposed five years ago that targeted its online advertising business. The EU’s General Court said it was throwing out the 2019 penalty imposed by the European Commission, which is the 27-nation bloc’s top antitrust enforcer. “The General Court annuls the Commission’s decision in its entirety,” the court said in a press release. The commission’s ruling applied to a narrow portion of Google’s ad business: ads that the Alphabet-owned US tech giant sold next to Google search results on third-party websites. Regulators had accused Google of inserting exclusivity clauses in its contracts that barred these websites from running similarly placed ads sold by Google’s rivals. The commission said when it issued the penalty that Google’s behavior resulted in advertisers and website owners having less choice and likely facing higher prices that would be passed on to consumers. But the General Court said the commission “committed errors” when it assessed those clauses. The commission failed to demonstrate that Google’s contracts deterred innovation, harmed consumers or helped the company hold on to and strengthen its dominant position in national online search advertising markets, it said.

In the early hours of that morning – three months into Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza – Middleborough had been arrested in Liverpool on suspicion of conspiracy to cause criminal damage as part of direct action group Palestine Action. While they were waiting for a police interview, Middleborough’s solicitor went online to discover that the arrest had already hit the news. Middleborough had been exposed by Max Parry, a Daily Express reporter who’d gone undercover within Palestine Action, disclosing plans for an action the next day. Not only that, but it had been the Express that had passed evidence to the police, prompting the arrest of Middleborough and five others. Ahead of the planned action, Middleborough hadn’t had any idea that Parry was a reporter. “They were a very enthusiastic individual,” Middleborough told Novara Media. “When I found out, I was like, ‘what?!’” Parry’s article alleged that Palestine Action was planning “a week of chaos on the streets of Britain” starting with “a plot to ‘shut down’ the London Stock Exchange”, which raises billions in the sale of bonds for the state of Israel. The piece also included a photo of Middleborough, and stated he was “the ringleader”. While Middleborough does not deny that he planned to take direct action, the charge against him came to nothing: in March, the case against him was “discontinued”. But by this point, he’d already been arrested, remanded in prison, paid a £5,000 bail fee and faced restrictive bail conditions. He’d also had his photo plastered all over the press, and had people online claim he was a “terrorist” who should be “imprisoned for life”. “It was a modern-day equivalent of a public flogging,” he said.

We’re about gathering intelligence, not smearing individuals. “That’s a Security Service job. Let them do that. We’re bothered about gathering intelligence. That’s what we were doing.” Morris then said: “Sorry I shouldn’t say that. Let’s scrap that last bit. I’m not saying that.” The interrogating lawyer asked: “Are you or are you not in a position to say whether or not the Security Service was seeking to smear …” At this point the live feed of the Undercover Policing Inquiry was suspended. Commenting, The National columnist Pat Kane wrote on social media: “Oops. British deep state showing a bit of leg. So many government officials like Manfra have said the same thing over the last few years that it is commonly accepted as gospel by most Americans. Behind it is the notion that if voting systems are not online, hackers will have a harder time compromising them. But that is an overstatement, according to a team of 10 independent cybersecurity experts who specialize in voting systems and elections. While the voting machines themselves are not designed to be online, the larger voting systems in many states end up there, putting the voting process at risk. That team of election security experts say that last summer, they discovered some systems are, in fact, online. “We found over 35 [voting systems] had been left online and we’re still continuing to find more,” Kevin Skoglund, a senior technical advisor at the election security advocacy group National Election Defense Coalition, told NBC News. “We kept hearing from election officials that voting machines were never on the internet,” he said. “And we knew that wasn’t true. And so we set out to try and find the voting machines to see if we could find them on the internet, and especially the back-end systems that voting machines in the precinct were connecting to to report their results.” Skoglund and his team developed a tool that scoured the internet to see if the central computers that program voting machines and run the entire election process at the precinct level were online. Once they had identified such systems, they contacted the relevant election officials and also provided the information to reporter Kim Zetter, who published the findings in Vice’s Motherboard in August.

Yanis Varoufakis – EU is irrelevant now – ‘Techno Feudalism: What Killed Capitalism?’ book. So, what is my hypothesis? It is that capitalism is now dead, in the sense that its dynamics no longer govern our economies. In that role it has been replaced by something fundamentally different, which I call ‘technofeudalism’. At the heart of my thesis is an irony that may sound confusing at first but which I hope to show makes perfect sense: the thing that has killed capitalism is . . . capital itself. Not capital as we have known it since the dawn of the industrial era, but a new form of capital, a mutation of it that has arisen in the last two decades, so much more powerful than its predecessor that like a stupid, overzealous virus it has killed off its host. What caused this to happen? Two main developments: the privatisation of the internet by America’s and China’s Big Tech. And the manner in which Western governments and central banks responded to the 2008 great financial crisis. Before saying a little more on this, I must emphasise that this is not a book about what technology will do to us. It is not about AI-chatbots that will take over our jobs, autonomous robots that will threaten our lives, or Mark Zuckerberg’s ill-conceived metaverse. No, this book is about what has already been done to capitalism, and therefore to us, by the screen-based, cloud-linked devices we all use, our boring laptop and our smartphone, in conjunction with the way central banks and governments have been acting since 2008. The historic mutation of capital that I am highlighting has already happened but, caught up in our pressing dramas, from debt worries and a pandemic to wars and the climate emergency, we have barely noticed. It is high time we paid attention! If we do pay attention, it is not hard to see that capital’s mutation into what I call cloud capital has demolished capitalism’s two pillars: markets and profits. Of course, markets and profits remain ubiquitous – indeed, markets and profits were ubiquitous under feudalism too – they just aren’t running the show any more. What has happened over the last two decades is that profit and markets have been evicted from the epicentre of our economic and social system, pushed out to its margins, and replaced. With what? Markets, the medium of capitalism, have been replaced by digital trading platforms which look like, but are not, markets, and are better understood as fiefdoms. And profit, the engine of capitalism, has been replaced with its feudal predecessor: rent. Specifically, it is a form of rent that must be paid for access to those platforms and to the cloud more broadly. I call it cloud rent. As a result, real power today resides not with the owners of traditional capital, such as machinery, buildings, railway and phone networks, industrial robots. They continue to extract profits from workers, from waged labour, but they are not in charge as they once were. As we shall see, they have become vassals in relation to a new class of feudal overlord, the owners of cloud capital. As for the rest of us, we have returned to our former status as serfs, contributing to the wealth and power of the new ruling class with our unpaid labour – in addition to the waged labour we perform, when we get the chance.

Rather than viewing most mental distress as an understandable reaction to wider societal problems, we have embraced a medical model which situates the problem solely within the sufferer and their brain. Urgent and persuasive, Sedated systematically examines why this individualistic view of mental illness has been promoted by successive governments and big business – and why it is so misplaced and dangerous.

The burning of churches in France. Why France is losing one religious building every two weeks One religious building is disappearing in France every two weeks. That is the conclusion of Edouard de Lamaze, president of the Observatoire du patrimoine religieux (Observatory of Religious Heritage) in Paris. He is raising the alarm in the French media about the gradual disappearance of religious edifices in a country known as the “eldest daughter of the Church” because the Frankish King Clovis I embraced Catholicism in 496. Lamaze’s appeal for increased awareness came after a fire destroyed the 16th-century Church of Saint-Pierre in Romilly-la-Puthenaye, Normandy, northern France. The fire, deemed accidental, took place on April 15, exactly two years after the blaze that devastated Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The unforgettable image of the burning cathedral, which circled the planet in 2019, pointed to a deeper issue within French society: serious shortcomings in the preservation system of religious monuments, coupled with increasing hostility toward religion. Lamaze told CNA in an interview that in addition to one religious building disappearing every two weeks — by demolition, transformation, destruction by fire, or collapse — two-thirds of fires in religious buildings are due to arson. While these statistics include buildings belonging to all religious groups, most of them concern Catholic monuments, which still represent a large majority in France, where there are roughly 45,000 Catholic places of worship. “Although Catholic monuments are still ahead, one mosque is erected every 15 days in France, while one Christian building is destroyed at the same pace,” Lamaze said. “It creates a tipping point on the territory that should be taken into account.” Lamaze believes that on average more than two Christian monuments are targeted every day. Two-thirds of these incidents concern theft, while the remaining third involve desecration. According to the most recent figures from France’s central criminal intelligence unit, 877 attacks on Catholic places of worship were recorded across the country in 2018 alone. “These figures have increased fivefold in only 10 years,” Lamaze said, noting that 129 churches were vandalized in 2008.

Jacob’s new name is reiterated by God in Gen 35:10 when he tells Jacob, “no longer shall you be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.” Both names are used interchangeably from this point in the text. Following the death of Jacob, the name Israel passes on to his descendants who form the twelve tribes of Israel. At that point, we find the designations “Israelite,” “sons of Israel” (bene yisra’el), and “house of Israel” (beit yisra’el) used to describe God’s chosen people. The name Israelis apt not only for describing the wrestling match between God and Jacob, but also the unique relationship the Israelites have with their God. The Israelites actively engage in dialogue and confrontation with God throughout the Hebrew Bible, and many of the biblical stories are born out of their struggle with God.

In televised comments addressed to Russian government ministers, Mr Putin said such restrictions could also be introduced for other commodities, and noted that Russia was a major producer of natural gas, diamonds and gold. “Please take a look at some of the types of goods that we supply to the world market … Maybe we should think about certain restrictions – uranium, titanium, nickel,” he urged Russian prime minister Mikhail Mishustin. Uranium, a naturally occuring metallic element, is extracted from ore and used to power nuclear reactors. Mr Putin’s remarks drove shares in uranium mining firms upwards on the expectation of higher prices for the commodity. In 2023 the US and China topped the list of Russian uranium importers, followed by South Korea, France, Kazakhstan and Germany. Russia is the world’s largest exporter of nuclear fuel and technology. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Western governments have been attempting to limit their reliance on Russian exports.

Constitutional Crisis – Allotments story ‘Constitutional crisis’ caused by row over raising rents for allotments in Bristol A “constitutional crisis” has been caused by a row over raising rents for allotments in Bristol just four months into the new committee system. Since May, Bristol City Council has been run by eight committees instead of a mayor, but there is still confusion about how decisions are made. Labour had tried to amend the plans to double the rents, during a meeting of the public health committee on Friday, August 23, but were told this wasn’t possible. This led to wider questions about how effective and democratic the new committee model of governance is. Labour Councillor Emily Clarke, vice-chair of the committee, said: “What I’m hearing is that we can’t meaningfully amend a proposal in a meeting at all, and that’s really concerning. If we can’t do that in a meeting, I just don’t understand the point of everyone spending all that time. “The point of committee decision-making was meant to be about collaboration, things being transparent, and actually empowering councillors to make decisions. More generally, for the entire committee system, if members of the public come to suggest we amend it, what’s the point in them even doing that, if we can’t do that? “It feels to me like a bit of a constitutional crisis to be honest. I don’t really know what the point is of us all sitting here discussing things, if we can’t change things.” The amendment would have staggered the increases over two years and created discounts for people who struggled to pay — both of which were suggested by the former Labour cabinet earlier this year. But this was blocked by Tim O’Gara, the director of legal services. He said: “The recommendations before you this morning have had the benefit of financial, legal and equality impact assessments, professional advice that’s integral to sound decision-making. If we make unsound decisions then we’re potentially running the risk of judicial review.” For several years allotments have cost the council more money to operate than the total income made from rents, and the rest of the money comes from the general budget for the parks department. This means all council tax payers in Bristol are subsidising just 4,200 tenants.

Mr Williams has insisted he did not ignore the coroner’s recommendations and says he started a review which should have been finished six months ago. But pressure is growing on Mr Williams and other ministers involved in the review following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in West London, where it is feared as many as 100 people may have died last week. Mr Williams had been urged to act on a series of recommendations made in 2013, following a fatal fire at a tower block called Lakanal House in south London in 2009, which killed six people. The former Liberal Democrat MP, who represented Bristol West for ten years from 2005 to 2015, became a junior minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government in 2013. Within weeks, he received calls from the All-Party Parliamentary Fire Safety and Rescue Group calling on him to act on the Lakanal House fire, in which six people were killed in South London in 2009. An inquest into the tragedy in 2013 heard that the fire had quickly burned through exterior cladding panels and that fire-stopping material had been removed. Afterwards a coroner made a series of recommendations to improve the fire safety of tower blocks, and the Fire Safety Group demanded action.

An email from July 2014 from the Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation read: “We need good costs for Cllr Feilding-Mellen and the planner tomorrow at 8.45am!” The email, referencing Rock Feilding-Mellen, deputy leader of the council and its housing committee chair, set out three options including using aluminium panels rather than zinc, the paper reported. Zinc panels would have been non-combustible but the tower’s aluminium cladding had a flammable polythene core. However, the council told the Standard that the budget for the project had been £6.9million but Cllr Feilding-Mellen had actually wanted it to be increased to £10.3million. A spokesman said: “Cllr Feilding-Mellen and the cabinet were willing to approve significant and repeated increases in the overall budget based on the advice received from KCTMO, which was responsible not only for specifying and delivering the project but also for ensuring the building met the necessary and current building regulations.

GRENFELL ACTION GROUP CONDEMN KCTMO, PREDICTED ‘SERIOUS FIRE’ AND ‘SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE’ THE YEAR BEFORE THE FIRE WHICH KILLED 72 RESIDENTS – KCTMO: Playing with fire! [now, apparently removed] NOVEMBER 20, 2016 It is a truly terrifying thought but the Grenfell Action Group firmly believe that only a catastrophic event will expose the ineptitude and incompetence of our landlord, the KCTMO, and bring an end to the dangerous living conditions and neglect of health and safety legislation that they inflict upon their tenants and leaseholders. We believe that the KCTMO are an evil, unprincipled, mini-mafia who have no business to be charged with the responsibility of looking after the every day management of large scale social housing estates and that their sordid collusion with the RBKC Council is a recipe for a future major disaster. Unfortunately, the Grenfell Action Group have reached the conclusion that only an incident that results in serious loss of life of KCTMO residents will allow the external scrutiny to occur that will shine a light on the practices that characterise the malign governance of this non-functioning organisation. We believe that the KCTMO have ensured their ongoing survival by the use of proxy votes at their Annual General Meeting that see them returned with a mandate of 98% in favour of the continuation of their inept and highly dangerous management of our homes. It is no coincidence that the 98% is the same figure that is returned by the infamous Kim Jong-un of North Korea who claims mass popularity while reputedly enslaving the general population and starving the majority of his people to death. It is our conviction that a serious fire in a tower block or similar high density residential property is the most likely reason that those who wield power at the KCTMO will be found out and brought to justice! The Grenfell Action Group believe that the KCTMO narrowly averted a major fire disaster at Grenfell Tower in 2013 when residents experienced a period of terrifying power surges that were subsequently found to have been caused by faulty wiring. We believe that our attempts to highlight the seriousness of this event were covered up by the KCTMO with the help of the RBKC Scrutiny Committee who refused to investigate the legitimate concerns of tenants and leaseholders. We have blogged many times on the subject of fire safety at Grenfell Tower and we believe that these investigations will become part of damning evidence of the poor safety record of the KCTMO should a fire affect any other of their properties and cause the loss of life that we are predicting:

Finally, in 2022 Bristol council announced it would transfer ownership to Friends of Jubilee Pool, a charity set up by a group of locals who had raised money via community fundraising events and grants. With the help and advice of other community-run pools across England, the group took over in 2022. The celebratory mood was short lived, however, as the energy and cost of living crises bit hard and people had to rally around again to manage spiralling bills. “When people are faced with the threat of loss of something very important to them and the community, they do step up,” said Chloe Day, volunteer grant fundraiser at the pool. Local history The 22-metre pool is one of only two of 14 that were built in the 1930s as part of a drive by the local authority to provide all Bristolians with public baths within a mile’s walk of home. Over 80 years later and there is a much gloomier outlook, with the BBC reporting the closure of 60 public pools across the UK between 1999 and 2022. Today Jubilee is Bristol’s only community-run pool, and depends entirely on the dedication of its 50 volunteers, most of whom live locally.

The Growing BRICS Bloc Should Be a Wake-up Call for the U.S. | Opinion This month’s high-level global summit underscores the deepening geopolitical divides that increasingly define world politics and threaten U.S. interests. Media and observers paid close attention to the G7 and Ukraine peace summits. But in the same week, a pivotal, under-the-radar meeting took place in western Russia, as BRICS foreign ministers gathered with their counterparts from nearly two dozen Global South countries. Like the G7 and Ukraine summits, the BRICS meeting didn’t result in revelatory policy initiatives. However, it showed that more and more nations are aggrieved by U.S. policy, looking for alternatives to Washington’s leadership and want to be part of the de-dollarization trend. Brazil, Russia, India, and China began the BRICS project in 2006, seeking to reform international finance institutions like the IMF and World Bank. South Africa later joined in 2010. The group formed the New Development Bank in 2014 but never gathered momentum or coherence until recently. Early this year, important regional powers Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially joined the group. Before the June meeting, Moscow’s ambassador to China said that “the number of states interested in BRICS is much bigger than this entity can absorb now,” with nearly 30 countries hoping to receive an invitation. Countries like Turkey, a NATO member that has long sought admission to the European Union, and Thailand, which has historically been content to sit on the geopolitical sidelines, now want to join BRICS. One doesn’t need a crystal ball to divine their motivations. The top diplomats from BRICS and the Global South spoke of the need to build new security, governance, and finance architectures to supplant the current U.S.-led systems that they believe only serve Western interests. BRICS features Global South countries’ concerns and grievances front and center­this rarely happens in Western-led international fora. In fact, anti-Western grievances are the political valence that brings together BRICS members and Global South countries.

US Wants To Deploy Nuclear-Capable Missile System to Japan – The US recently sent the Typhon missile system for drills in the Philippines, a move China viewed as a major provocation The US wants to deploy a previously banned missile system to Japan for military drills, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday. The Typhon missile launcher is a ground-based system that can fire nuclear-capable Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of more than 1,000 miles. Ground-based missiles with a range between 310 and 3,400 miles were banned by the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which the US withdrew from in 2019. The Typhon also fires SM-6 missiles, which can hit targets up to 290 miles away. The US deployed a Typhon system to the Philippines for military drills, a move that China viewed as a major provocation. The missile system was sent to the Philippines for several months. It was first deployed for the drills that started in April, and Manila said it would be pulled out in September, meaning it could still be there. The Philippines said China expressed “very dramatic” alarm over the deployment of the Typhon system. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said the deployment “put the entire region under the fire of the United States (and) brought huge risks of war into the region.” US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said on Wednesday that she told Japanese officials the US wanted to deploy the Typhon to Japan next. “We’ve made our interest in this clear with the Japanese Self-Defense Forces,” she said at a Defense News conference in Virginia…. Wormuth said last year that the US was preparing to fight and win a war with China. “I personally am not of the view that an amphibious invasion of Taiwan is imminent,” she said. “But we obviously have to prepare, to be prepared to fight and win that war.”

The punchline to this article is that Cohen is also now chief of staff at Rio Tinto! Since January 2023 she has been working directly under its global CEO Jakob Stausholm, whose previous employers include another big Rothschildian industrial entity, Royal Dutch Shell. Aware that her transfer from 10 Downing Street to Rio Tinto might raise an eyebrow or two, UK civil servants produced a letter of advice on whether or not it was acceptable. Referring to Rio Tinto’s ongoing investigation by the Serious Fraud Office, they said there were “risks” involved in a former senior official at No.10 working for the company. But they basically concluded that as long as Cohen did not personally lobby the UK government for Rio Tinto, or disclose any state secrets, everything would be fine. And they cited the Cabinet Office as pointing out that “the company is well placed to support the government to secure the minerals required for net zero; and that Rio Tinto increasingly operates in the net zero industry – a strategic priority of the government”. So they’re all chums, really, working for the same public-private agenda. Looking back at Samantha Cohen’s early career, when she was advising the Australian government on “indigenous Affairs and Mining and Resources”, what sort of “advice” was she giving? Could there possibly have been any connection to the desire of a certain British-Australian industrial giant to destroy a 46,000-year-old Aboriginal site in Australia in order to expand an iron ore mine? And how could someone who was a trustee for an NGO supposedly defending endangered forests and protecting ecosystems possibly find themselves working as chief of staff for one of the most notorious destroyers of nature the world has ever seen? One could be forgiven for wondering whether Cohen’s career has been a purely individual affair or whether she has, all along, been working on behalf of a certain entity with the muscle to place her in such key and varied posts. What sort of world would that mean we are living in?

A senior Labour MP has been caught admitting his party’s policy of decarbonising the economy will cost “hundreds of billions” of pounds – significantly more than the party has earmarked for the policy publicly. Darren Jones, the party’s Chief Secretary to the Treasury, said in a leaked recording that Labour’s infamous £28 billion pledge to achieve its climate goals was a “tiny” amount compared to what is truly needed. In a further humiliating admission, Mr Jones said while Labour had publicly downgraded its policy of investing £28 billion in the environment, the move had “made it sound as if we basically junked the whole thing but we definitely haven’t”. The leaked recording is a humiliating blow to Sir Keir Starmer just hours before the final crunch head-to-head debate between him and Rishi Sunak on the BBC this evening. The recording, published by The Telegraph, sees Mr Jones tell an anonymous individual: “So we’re still absolutely committed to [the environment], it’s still one of the top five priorities.” “And it’s going to be a huge amount of effort to get there because we’ll have to move quite quickly. “But a lot of the coverage and the news was about that specific 28 [billion pounds], which because journalists saw conflict made it sound as if we had basically junked the whole thing, but we definitely haven’t.” The individual replied that some people say £28 billion isn’t enough, with Mr Jones agreeing: “No it’s tiny… hundreds of billions of pounds we need”. Mr Jones was speaking at a meeting in March – the month after Keir Starmer dropped his £28 billion-a-year pledge. Responding to the story, Laura Trott – Mr Jones’ Tory opposite in the Treasury – said: “This is very serious. “Rather than costing £5 billion a year, the man Keir Starmer would put in charge of the country’s money is saying Labour’s flagship policy would mean spending ‘hundreds of billions of pounds’ more than Labour are telling people in public. “This is about trust – tonight Keir Starmer must be straight with people and urgently explain what taxes will Labour put up to pay for it.” Around £500 billion will be needed to achieve net zero by 2050. Some £200 billion of this is investment in the electricity grid; £115 billion on offshore wind; £70 billion in nuclear energy; and £150 billion in carbon capture and storage. A Labour spokesman said: “Labour’s mission is to achieve clean energy by 2030 and our plan is fully funded and fully costed.

Labour’s ‘bonkers’ Net Zero plans to cost taxpayers nearly £800bn, warns tax expert EXCLUSIVE: Bob Lyddon believes Labour will saddle the nation with huge debts for decades if Sir Keir Starmer gets the keys to Number 10 on July 4. Labour’s “bonkers” Net Zero transition will saddle British taxpayers with an eye-watering bill of almost £800 billion, a UK-based tax consultant has claimed. Bob Lyddon was speaking after shadow minister Darren Jones admitted the green plans would cost “hundreds of billions” in an audio clip leaked yesterday. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak challenged Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer on the issue during last night’s BBC debate. The founder of Lyddon Consulting Services has pored over Labour’s commitment to “make Britain a clean energy superpower” by achieving the Net Zero target by 2030. He told Express.co.uk: “We already know that Labour’s originally expressed intention of spending £28bn per annum over 5 years on Net Zero and doing that by outright borrowing. That would have been a spend of £140bn over the life of the Parliament. “Now it becomes clear that Labour have not dropped that intention, but will tap ‘private finance’, meaning a re-run of PFI, where most of the money is borrowed and there is hardly any equity, like InvestEU.” n accordance with Labour’s Fiscal Plan, the equity would be injected into the economy via the two new quangos Labour is planning to create – Great British Energy (£1.7bn) and the National Wealth Fund (£1.5bn). Of this £3.2bn, £2.4bn will be borrowed, Mr Lyddon pointed out, with just £0.8bn – 0.6 percent of the whole – being money “the UK really has”. Local Palestinian residents and journalists say that this current assault is the most intense and violent in years, with at least 19 Palestinians killed in Jenin, including minors.
