First hour News Review With former communities minister and LibDem MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams: Steven’s experience as Communities Minister; Grenfell Tower Inquiry;

Bristol MP Stephen Williams was warned over tower block fire safety four years before Grenfell Tower tragedy – but said changes were not ‘urgent’ – Mr Williams told those warning him not to “wait for another tragedy” before reviewing regulations that he hadn’t seen or heard anything to suggest that changing them was “urgent”… In March 2014, the parliamentary group wrote: “Surely… when you already have credible evidence to justify updating… the guidance… which will lead to saving of lives, you don’t need to wait another three years in addition to the two already spent since the research findings were updated, in order to take action? “As there are estimated to be another 4,000 older tower blocks in the UK, without automatic sprinkler protection, can we really afford to wait for another tragedy to occur before we amend this weakness?” The correspondence continued between the group and ministers before Mr Williams wrote back: “I have neither seen nor heard anything that would suggest that consideration of these specific potential changes is urgent and I am not willing to disrupt the work of this department by asking that these matters are brought forward.” The group of MPs then fired back to Mr Williams, saying they were “at a loss to understand how you had concluded that credible and independent evidence, which had life safety implications, was NOT considered to be urgent”. They even warned him they would go public with the Government’s inaction if there was another “major fire tragedy,” saying: “As a consequence the group wishes to point out to you that should a major fire tragedy, with loss of life, occur between now and 2017 in, for example, a residential care facility or a purpose-built block of flats, where the matters which had been raised here were found to be contributory to the outcome, then the group would be bound to bring this to others’ attention.”… 

Labour Mayor Marvin Rees was hoping the disastrous Bristol Energy report would come out after the May 2020 election that never happened, so now he has to ‘keep a lid on it’. £35m upwards of public money wasted on Bristol Energy; Call for independent inquiry into Bristol Energy voted down – Opposition groups united to support the motion, but were “bitterly disappointed” when it was voted down by Labour members -‘A bombshell about to explode in this city’s finances’ – Conservative group leader Mark Weston described the company as “haemorrhaging money” as he brought his motion to the extraordinary full council meeting. Cllr Weston said it was time for the administration to accept Bristol Energy was a “dead weight” on council finances that should be “released”. “What we want is an inquiry,” he said. “Let us investigate exactly what happened, when it happened, the funding that goes with it, because I fear we have a bombshell about to explode in this city’s finances that is going to cost us millions.” Seconding the motion, Lib Dem group leader Gary Hopkins said it was obvious more than two years ago that Bristol Energy was in trouble and accused the mayor of a “cover up” once he realised the company was beyond rescue. Speaking on behalf of the Green group in support of the motion, councillor Jerome Thomas said the council had acted with “inappropriate secrecy” in relation to Bristol Energy and the public knew more about the finances of British Gas and Scottish Power than they did about the energy company their council tax had paid for. “Greater openness would have meant that problems with Bristol Energy would have been identified and communicated earlier and suitable corrective action could have been taken,” he said. Labour member Estella Tinknell called for the opposition councillors to withdraw their “completely counterproductive” motion and instead work together to ensure Bristol Energy has a “positive and constructive future”…

Lakota nightclub proprietor Marti Burgess agrees to become the first black Merchant Venturer, a notorious former slave trading group. Does she stand any chance of opening its accounts to public scrutiny? Marti Burgess appointed first black member of Bristol’s Society of Merchant Venturers. The secretive society known locally as ‘The Bristol Mafia’ was founded in 1552.  The Merchant Venturers have been the dominant force in Bristol civic life since at least the 16th century. The organisation effectively ran the city for hundreds of years, its members set up the Bristol part of the transatlantic slave trade and the forced transportation of hundreds of thousands of the poor from Britain, while it represented the interests of businessmen and the rich merchants. Now, the organisation runs many of the city’s state-funded primary and secondary schools, as well as fee-paying schools, and also has many of the city’s nursing homes as part of the St Monica Trust charity and the Cote Charity, as well as having a role in things like the Downs Committee. Its members include multi-millionaires and business leaders from across the city and wider region, and is largely now a charitable organisation with a behind-the-scenes role in funding numerous major third sector organisations in Bristol. Marti Burgess’ appointment is the first of 2020, and is the first time the organisation has ever included a black person in its ranks…

Covid 19 – Boris explaining up to six people can now meet outside; Boris Johnson announces new lockdown rules allowing six people to gather from Monday. FAMILIES and friends will be allowed to reunite following months apart after Boris Johnson eased lockdown rules. The Prime Minister announced that outdoor gatherings of up to six people will be permitted from Monday as long as social distancing rules are still observed. Barbecues and garden parties got the green light, as well as get-togethers in parks, beaches and other outdoor venues. And grandparents will finally be able to see their grandchildren again, although shielding advice for the most vulnerable to coronavirus remains in force. The PM said: “I know that for many this will be a long-awaited and joyful moment.” Mr Johnson also confirmed that primary schools and nurseries will start some classes for the children of non-key workers from Monday. Secondaries will follow a fortnight later. NHS dentists will be encouraged to reopen from June 8. Outdoor markets and car showrooms have been permitted to start trading on Monday with other non-essential shops reopening from the middle of the month…

Now it may be entirely a coincidence that the place to which he chose to drive for his eyesight test happened to be the site of the major factory of GlaxoSmithKline. It may be an entire coincidence that two days later, on the very day Cummings actually started work back in Downing Street he has stated was “to get vaccine deals through”, GlaxoSmithKline announced an agreement to develop the vaccine. It is however plainly not crazy to ask the question…

The final Thursday ‘clapping for the NHS’ <<BUT>> 13,000 unexplained deaths due to lack of NHS treatment; Almost 13,000 unexplained deaths in England and Wales since coronavirus crisis began, figures show – Fears grow that thousands died of non-virus causes at home or in care homes because they could not access medical treatment – Nearly 13,000 more people than expected have died in England and Wales since mid-March from causes other than coronavirus amid fears that a lack of medical care is responsible. Data compiled by The Telegraph shows that there have been more than 23,000 excess deaths in care homes or at home, not linked to Covid-19, since March 13. During that time, hospital deaths fell by more than 10,000 as many dying patients were sent back into the community to free up beds ahead of the pandemic building to a peak. But even after allowing for the numbers who would ordinarily have died in hospital, some 12,818 deaths are left unaccounted for…

He praised the joint operation between federal agents and local police in western Arizona that led to their rescue and credited “investigative techniques” with helping to crack a “transnational criminal organization.” What Weigand didn’t say at that September 2018 press conference – although HSI documents show some supervisors knew – was that federal undercover agents repeatedly paid for and engaged in sex acts with suspected victims…

Covid 19 – is it biological warfare?

If Given OK, US Could Conduct a Nuclear Test in a Matter of Months, Pentagon Official Says – This comes as senior national security officials are reportedly discussing whether to conduct a test. The United States could conduct an underground nuclear weapons test within months of being given an order to do so, a senior Pentagon official said Tuesday. But there has been no change in the U.S. policy to not test nuclear weapons, said Drew Walter, who is performing the duties of deputy assistant defense secretary for nuclear matters. He spoke four days after the Washington Post reported that “senior officials representing the top national security agencies” discussed conducting a nuclear test during a May 15 meeting.  “[I]f the president directed, because of a technical issue or a geopolitical issue, the system to go test, I think it would happen relatively rapidly,” Walter said Tuesday at a Mitchell Institute event.  Walter said the Energy Department’s National Nuclear Security Administration, which oversees the maintenance of U.S. nuclear weapons, “has a requirement to retain the ability to resume testing on particular timelines. Reviewing those timelines for the readiness posture regularly is always prudent.”  NNSA officials “maintain the capability to do all of that underground work,” Walter said, meaning they have a location suitable for an underground nuclear test.  A nuclear test could be conducted “with limited diagnostics…within months, probably not years,” he said. But he added that the time to prepare for “a fully diagnostic” test that generates “lots of data, all the bells and whistles, so to speak, might be measured in years.”…

Senior administration officials came up with the idea of carrying out the first US nuclear test explosion since 1992, and this conversation is still ongoing.  Carrying out nuclear tests is a hugely provocative move on the global scale, and yet the Trump Administration thought it could “prove useful” in trying to get Russia and China into trilateral nuclear talks.  This probably was also informing the administration in accusing, without evidence, both Russia and China of conducting nuclear tests in secret. Global monitoring makes secret tests all but impossible, but alleging such tests would be cover for the US to do it too…

Covid preps military for war ….  US Military Using New Data Collection System Designed For War in Pandemic Response – Pentagon sees new JADC2 system as vital for beating China, Russia in military confrontations – US Northern Command is using a new data collection system to track the spread of Covid-19. The Joint-All Domain Command & Control, or JADC2, is a project in its infancy designed to collect information on all aspects of military operations using artificial intelligence, data to be shared between all branches. The idea is to connect every piece of military hardware to the network.  Another aim of JADC2 is to give commanders the ability to swap out weapons in the middle of a war. Meaning, commanders will be able to simultaneously control every tool on the battlefield, making it harder for enemies to prioritize defense. For example, if a target sets up a defense for an incoming fleet of bombers, the Pentagon could see that and quickly change the plan of attack. According to Defense One, Northcom received a briefing on April 14th that said Stamford, Connecticut was about to become a Covid-19 hotspot. The briefing used data and predictions collected by a sub-system of the JADC2, which Northcom developed with Apple, Google, Palantir, and the intelligence company ESIR. The system uses AI to make predictions based on analyzed data…

You can do that to anyone you can destroy anyone like that. The mainstream media reported on Julian Assange’s new family in their typical prurient fashion, fascinated by the sexual details, while ignoring the fears that Assange’s life was put at risk in an over-crowded prison in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic…

India and China put more troops into border regions – ‘All-out combat’ feared as India, China engage in border standoff – Indian media says thousands of Chinese troops are believed to be inside the Indian territory along the de facto border.  On May 5, a scuffle broke out between Indian and Chinese troops at the Pangong Tso lake, located 14,000 feet (4,270 metres) above the sea level in the Himalayan region of Ladakh. A video shot by an Indian soldier and shared on social media showed soldiers from both nations engaged in fistfights and stone-pelting at the de facto border, known as Line of Actual Control (LAC). The incident, which continued until the next day, resulted in 11 soldiers being injured on both sides…

ID2020 and partners launch program to provide digital ID with vaccines – The ID2020 Alliance has launched a new digital identity program at its annual summit in New York, in collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh, vaccine alliance Gavi, and new partners in government, academia, and humanitarian relief. The program to leverage immunization as an opportunity to establish digital identity was unveiled by ID2020 in partnership with the Bangladesh Government’s Access to Information (a2i) Program, the Directorate General of Health Services, and Gavi, according to the announcement.  Digital identity is a computerized record of who a person is, stored in a registry. It is used, in this case, to keep track of who has received vaccination.  “We are implementing a forward-looking approach to digital identity that gives individuals control over their own personal information, while still building off existing systems and programs,” says Anir Chowdhury, policy advisor at a2i. “The Government of Bangladesh recognizes that the design of digital identity systems carries far-reaching implications for individuals’ access to services and livelihoods, and we are eager to pioneer this approach.”  Gavi CEO Seth Berkley says that 89 percent of children and adolescents who do not have identification live in countries where the organization is active. “We are enthusiastic about the potential impact of this program not just in Bangladesh, but as something we can replicate across Gavi-eligible countries, providing a viable route to closing the identity gap,” he says.  A partnership was also formed earlier this year between Gavi, NEC, and Simprints to use biometrics to improve vaccine coverage in developing nations.  “Digital ID is being defined and implemented today, and we recognize the importance of swift action to close the identity gap,” comments ID2020 Executive Director Dakota Gruener. “Now is the time for bold commitments to ensure that we respond both quickly and responsibly. We and our ID2020 Alliance partners, both present and future, are committed to rising to this challenge.”  ID2020 also announced new partnerships and provided progress reports on initiatives launched last year. Since last year’s summit, the ID2020 Alliance has been joined by the City of Austin, UC Berkeley’s CITRIS Policy Lab and Care USA.  The City of Austin, ID2020, and several other partners are working together with homeless people and the service providers who engage with them to develop a blockchain-enabled digital identity platform called MyPass to empower homeless people with their own identity data…

Labour Purges Bristol University’s ‘Spinwatch’ editor, Prof. David Miller and other Israel lobby critics – The UK Labour Party has launched a new purge of the left and the Palestine solidarity movement still remaining in its ranks. A noted academic expert on the Israel lobby and two leading members of a Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) branch were among those whose party membership was suspended on Monday. Professor David Miller of Bristol University, as well as Becky Massey and Pam Page of Brighton PSC all received letters from the party within hours of each other, they told The Electronic Intifada. Along with the summary expulsion of another local member in October, the suspensions seem to add up to an attack on Brighton PSC – one of the UK’s most active branches of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. The new purge commenced only hours after Labour’s new right-wing leader Keir Starmer held a virtual meeting with the leadership of the Jewish Labour Movement, a pro-Israel lobby within the party. A sociologist, Miller is an expert on the propaganda operations of state and corporate lobbies. He has documented the methods and history of the pro-Israel lobby for years. “This latest round of suspensions continues the targeted harassment of socialist members,” Miller told The Electronic Intifada. A book Miller co-wrote about Labourwas censored during the party’s conference last year, after Israel lobby pressure. Under the guise of Labour’s “anti-Semitism crisis,” the party bureaucracy has accelerated this trend in recent months under the new right-wing leadership. How US empire undermines criminal justice in ‘puppet regimes’: phone calls between Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and Ukraine’s Poroshenko leaked; Details $1 Billion “quid pro quo” to fire Burisma prosecutor –  Leaked phone calls between Joe Biden and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko explicitly detail the quid-pro-quo arrangement to fire former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin – who Poroshenko admits did nothing wrong – in exchange for $1 billion in US loan guarantees (which Biden openly bragged about in January, 2018). The calls were leaked by Ukrainian MP Andrii Derkach, who says the recordings of “voices similar to Poroshenko and Biden” were given to him by investigative journalists who claim Poroshenko made them. Shokin was notably investigating Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company that hired Biden’s son, Hunter, to sit on its board. Shokin had opened a case against Burisma’s founder, Mykola Zlochevsky, who granted Burisma permits to drill for oil and gas in Ukraine while he was Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources. In January, 2019, Shokin stated in a deposition that there were five criminal cases against Zlochevesky, including money laundering, corruption, illegal funds transfers, and profiteering through shell corporations while he was a sitting minister. The leaked calls begin on December 3, 2015, when former Secretary of State John Kerry starts laying out the case to fire Shokin – who he says “blocked the cleanup of the Prosecutor Generals’ Office,” and sated that Biden “is very concerned about it,” to which Poroshenko replies that the newly reorganized prosecutor general’s office (NABU) won’t be able to pursue corruption charges, and that it may be difficult to fire Shokin without cause. Later in the leaked audio on February 18, 2016 – less than three months after the Kerry conversation – Poroshenko delivers some “positive news.” “Yesterday I met with General Prosecutor Shokin,” says Poroshenko. And despite of the fact that we didn’t have any corruption charges, we don’t have any information about him doing something wrong, I specially asked him – no, it was day before yesterday – I specially asked him to resign. The current one, “Grace” under Jesus Christ, is merely the sixth of the seven dispensations. • The Christian Church is doomed to inevitable failure, which will bring the Dispensation of Grace to a close. • The end of this dispensational age will be marked by the Tribulation—worldwide persecution under the Antichrist for a period of seven years; however, Christians need not concern themselves with this, since Jesus will “Rapture” believers off the Earth and they won’t be around to experience it. • Earth will then experience a Jewish era; Jewish ritualistic animal sacrifices will be reinstituted; Jesus will reign for a thousand years from Solomon’s rebuilt temple in Jerusalem…

Lowering human fertility, while weakening the immune system to increase mortality. – Psychosocial: weakening the family, forcing women to work, high divorce rates, youth unemployment, countercultures, drug, tobacco and alcohol abuse, incarceration, accelerated urbanization. Successful in Europe where population has started to shrink. Political drawbacks: a secret state conducting genocide against its own people; sham democracy; a culture of deception. Endangering the gene pool and the ecosystem. Even so, it is more humane than the alternative of another world war to reduce numbers. Social costs: economic decline, collapse of social safety nets. Labour’s proposals a ‘debt bomb’ for Bristol renters – Labour’s proposed policy of deferring rent payments has been criticised for unfairly punishing renters and creating new debt.  Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire today announced her first policy as Shadow Housing Secretary to lobby the government to implement a system whereby tenants who fall into rent arrears during the COVID-19 crisis will have to pay back the debt in full on top of their monthly rent payments.  Ms Debbonaire’s comments that the arrears will be “small” has attracted much criticism from renters as “out of touch” with the economic situation currently being faced by renters. The plan has been widely criticised on social media including by Labour members and housing rights group ACORN Bristol.  Bristol has one of the UK’s largest rental markets with 58,000 households (29%) in private rented accommodation and 36,000 households (18%) in social rented housing. It is vital that rather than pushing renters into further arrears that we encourage the government to offer more comprehensive support to those privately renting, including expanding housing benefit or implementing a rent holiday for the duration of this crisis.”

Nightingale hospitals largely empty as NHS weathers the storm – Facilities were launched with a fanfare but medics complain they lack equipment for complex Covid-19 cases – Temporary hospitals set up around the UK to handle the surge in coronavirus cases are almost empty, with at least one of the hastily constructed facilities expecting never to open its doors as the NHS weathers the crisis better than many had feared. Seven Nightingale hospitals — named after the pioneering Victorian nurse — have been erected at unprecedented speed across England in recent weeks, with logistical support from members of Britain’s military. Similar facilities have also recently opened in Scotland and Wales. But the majority have only taken a handful of patients. NHS leaders reject any suggestion that they have become “white elephants”, casting the dearth of coronavirus sufferers at the Nightingales as a mark of how well the health service prepared for the biggest public health emergency in a century. The UK has avoided the wrenching scenes in Italy where dying patients were treated in corridors after some hospitals ran out of beds….

A bigger issue than Professor Ferguson’s private life is the accuracy of his model. When applied to the Swedish policy it forecast 40,000 deaths by now, over 15 times the reality.

Neil Ferguson: Coronavirus response adviser’s previous epidemic mistakes revealed PROFESSOR Neil Ferguson, the Government’s senior coronavirus science adviser, yesterday resigned after flouting his own advised lockdown rules – but it is not the first time the epidemiologist has made a serious blunder as adviser, with several other epidemics having been blown out of proportion through his work. Yesterday evening Professor Neil Ferguson, one of the Government’s most senior coronavirus science advisers and member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) resigned. It came after the Daily Telegraph revealed how the epidemiologist had broken his own lockdown rules by meeting with his married lover at his London flat. Prof Ferguson’s prediction models prompted Prime Minister Boris Johnson to enforce the current lockdown towards the end of March. His modelling of the virus’ transmission suggested 250,000 people could die without drastic action. As it stands, nearly 30,000 people have died from coronavirus, with a further 200,000 confirmed cases. Many credit Prof Ferguson’s initial 250,000 deaths figure and subsequent lockdown as having prevented further catastrophe. However, attention has been drawn to his previously botched predictions concerning epidemics and virus outbreaks of the past. For example, in 2001, he and his team at Imperial College produced prediction modelling on the UK’s foot and mouth outbreak. Their work suggested animals in neighbouring farms should be culled, even if there was no evidence of infection. Government policy soon took on board the modelling, leading to the subsequent culling of more than six million cattle, sheep, and pigs – a cost to the UK economy that totalled some £10billion. Michael Thrusfield, professor of veterinary epidemiology at Edinburgh University, later claimed the model was “severely flawed” and the event a “serious error”. Fast forward to 2002, Prof Ferguson predicted between 50 and 50,000 people would likely die as a result of exposure to mad cow disease (BSE) in beef. He said the number could rise to 150,000 should there be an outbreak among sheep – there have since only been 177 deaths from BSE.

‘Life-saving’ ventilators are destroying coronavirus patients’ lungs, doctor says [video]. Dr Cameron Kyle-Sidell, who was treating critically ill coronavirus patients at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, says “Covid-19 is not a pneumonia and should not be treated as one”. An American doctor says ventilators are doing more harm than good and damaging the lungs of coronavirus patients based on how they’re currently being used. Medics in the UK and around the world have been using the breathing machines, which pump the lungs to send oxygen into the bodies, as a vital tool to keep critically ill patients alive. But Dr Cameron Kyle-Sidell, who was treating Covid-19 patients in New York, said high pressure is inadvertently causing harm and his beliefs have led him to step down from his position in an intensive care unit. In a YouTube video, he says: “I fear this misguided treatment will lead to a tremendous amount of harm in a very short time. Covid-19 is not a pneumonia and should not be treated as one.” He has said that Covid-19 lung disease “is not a pneumonia” but appears to be “some kind of viral-induced disease most resembling high altitude sickness”. He added: “It is as if tens of thousands of my fellow New Yorkers are on a plane at 30,000 feet and the cabin pressure is slowly being let out. “These patients are slowly being starved of oxygen… and while they look like patients absolutely on the brink of death, they do not look like patients dying of pneumonia.” The danger, he said, lies in the amount of pressure used to open the lungs, and he believes ventilators should be programmed “differently” for patients with coronavirus…

Trade Deal Must Be Delayed! Brexit trade negotiations leave Germany furious as Merkel ally lashes out at UK tactics. ONE of Angela Merkel’s closest allies has launched a scathing attack on the UK over its refusal to extend the Brexit transition period, with Germany warning Britain it can not continue to move away from key points in the agreed political declaration. Britain and the European Union began post-Brexit talks on a free trade agreement in March after the country’s departure from the bloc was finally made official on January 31. But negotiations have already got off to a turbulent start, with significant distance separating the two sides on several key areas. The UK has until June 30 to request an extension from the EU for thew transition period beyond December 31. But despite the coronavirus pandemic sweeping throughout Europe, Boris Johnson still wants a full free trade agreement struck before that deadline. He has even threatened to walk away from the negotiating table if sufficient progress has not been made over the coming weeks. This stance has left the EU furious, with senior figureheads, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, openly critical of the UK negotiation strategy. Germany is becoming increasingly fearful of a disastrous hard Brexit, and Foreign Minister Heiko Mass said without an agreement on the future relationship between the UK and EU, it would be a “journey into the unknown”…

Trump says uninterested in talking to Xi, could sever China ties. US President Donald Trump says he is not interested in talking with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in what seems to be a further degeneration of Washington-Beijing ties amid the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking in an interview with Fox Business Network broadcast on Thursday, Trump said that he might even decide to sever relations between the two countries. Trump, who has repeatedly accused China of failing to contain the highly contagious disease, said Beijing’s failure had cast a pall over his January trade deal with the world’s second largest economy. “They should have never let this happen,” Trump said. “So I make a great trade deal and now I say this doesn’t feel the same to me. The ink was barely dry and the plague came over. And it doesn’t feel the same to me.” “I just – right now I don’t want to speak to him,” Trump said in the interview taped on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Li Yong, deputy chairman of the Expert Committee of the China Association of International Trade, said that “(China) still hopes that economic and trade issues will not be politicized because that is not good for either side.” “The hope is that both sides will resolve the challenges through communication rather than finger pointing,” Yong said. When Trump was asked about a Republican senator’s suggestion that US visas be denied to Chinese students seeking to study in fields related to national security, he said, “There are many things we could do. We could do things. We could cut off the whole relationship.”

World Spent $73 Billion on Nuclear Weapons in 2019; US Spent Half of That. Pandemic may force a rethink of priorities for costly arms. A new ICAN report shows that in 2019, the world spent about $73 billion on nuclear weapons. The US spent roughly half of that by themselves, at over $35 billion. This is an increase of over $7 billion from 2018. With focus shifting to the coronavirus pandemic, spending billions of dollars on nuclear weapons likely is going to make less and less sense going forward, with nations all having budget consequences from the pandemic. The expectation, with the US and Russia not likely to extend New START, was that there would be increased spending going forward. Budget deficits are likely to force a rethink, on the futility of buying expensive nuclear arms. No nuclear weapons use in generations means this money is going into a black hole, and US talk of making low-yield nukes with more utility seem unrealistic. This means billions that could be better spent on almost anything, and in the Covid-19 era, no shortage of things to spend it on…

Bill Gates offered Nigerian House of Reps $10m bribe for speedy passage of compulsory vaccine bill – before any vaccine is invented CUPP alleges. The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), on Monday, alleged that it has intercepted a human intelligence report that the Nigeria House of Representatives leadership was poised to forcefully pass the compulsory vaccine bill without subjecting it to the traditions of legislative proceedings. In a statement issued and signed by the spokesperson of the opposition political parties, Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and sent to DAILY POST in Abuja on Monday, the body urged lawmakers in the lower chamber to rise against impunity. The body in the statement alleged that a sum of $10 million was offered by the American Computer Czar, Bill Gates to influence the speedy passage of the bill without recourse to legislative public hearing, a development they averted as anachronistic, adding that the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila should be impeached if he forces the bill on members.  The statement read:  “Opposition Coalition (CUPP) has intercepted very credible intelligence and hereby alerts Nigerians of plans by the leadership of the House of Representatives led by Femi Gbajabiamila to forcefully and without adherence to the rules of lawmaking to pass the Control of Infectious Diseases Bill 2020 otherwise known as the Compulsory Vaccination Bill which is proposing a compulsory vaccination of all Nigerians even when the vaccines have not been discovered. “This intelligence is coupled with the information of the alleged receipt, from sources outside the country but very interested in the Bill, of the sum of $10 million by the sponsors and promoters of the Bill to distribute among lawmakers to ensure a smooth passage of the Bill. “This will manifest in a wishy-washy public hearing which the promoters still insist on cancelling under the pretext of containment of the spread of the coronavirus. Potential DNA Damage from CRISPR “Seriously Underestimated,” Study Finds – A flurry of recent findings highlight a contentious question about so-called ‘gene editing’ therapies – By Sharon Begley, STAT on July 16, 2018 – From the earliest days of the CRISPR-Cas9 era, scientists have known that the first step in how it edits genomes—snipping DNA—creates an unholy mess: Cellular repairmen frantically try to fix the cuts by throwing random chunks of DNA into the breach and deleting other random bits. Research published on Monday suggests that’s only the tip of a Titanic-sized iceberg: CRISPR-Cas9 can cause significantly greater genetic havoc than experts thought, the study concludes, perhaps enough to threaten the health of patients who would one day receive CRISPR-based therapy. The results come hard on the heels of two studies that identified a related issue: Some CRISPR’d cells might be missing a key anti-cancer mechanism and therefore be able to initiate tumors. The DNA damage found in the new study included deletions of thousands of DNA bases, including at spots far from the edit. Some of the deletions can silence genes that should be active and activate genes that should be silent, including cancer-causing genes. Leading CRISPR companies scrambled to play down the latest threat to what they hope will be a multibillion-dollar business—and to their stock prices, but investors reacted with alarm. Within the first 20 minutes of when the study was released, the three publicly traded CRISPR companies lost more than $300 million in value.  The companies questioned whether the CRISPR-caused DNA damage reported in the new study applied to the kind of cells they’re planning to CRISPR. They emphasized that if genomic scrambling is at all common then it should also be seen in earlier forms of genome-editing such as zinc fingers and TALENs (but apparently isn’t). And they insisted they’re on the case…

The nuclear spy who leaked the bomb plans to the Soviets, Klaus Fuchs, studied physics and mathematics at the University of Leipzig and in 1931 he joined the German Communist Party (KPD). He fled the country when Adolf Hitler took power in 1933. He taught in Paris before moving to England. He settled in Bristol and studied under Nevill Francis Mott, the Melville Wills Professor in Theoretical Physics at the University of Bristol. Soon after he arrived in the city he was the subject of a police enquiry. “The German Counsul in Bristol named him as an extremist left-wing agitator. Not a great deal of credence was given to the allegation because such denunciations were fairly frequent and anyway the young physicist was just one of thousands of Germans who fled their homeland for ideological reasons…  In 1946 Klaus Fuchs returned to England, where he was appointed by John Cockcroft as head of the theoretical physics division at the newly created British Nuclear Research Centre at Harwell. Fuchs approached members of the Communist Party of Great Britain in order to get back in contact with the NKVD. On 19th July, 1947, Fuchs met Hanna Klopshtock in Richmond Park. Klopshtock arranged for Fuchs to meet Alexander Feklissov, London’s deputy station chief for scientific and technical intelligence. Not many members of the supposed world government planned that Britain would vote to leave the European Union and that Donald Trump would become president of the United States. Donald Trump is definitely not somebody who gets invited to those meetings. So then — or for example, take the financial crisis, the events of 2008, ’09. Nobody said there are the Bilderberg meeting in 2008 saying, I think what we really need for the world government is a massive financial crisis. No, what’s striking when you spend time in these rarified circles is the lack of power. Influence, yes. These people, the people who are involved with the Schwarzman College are very influential people. But I think that power tends to be exaggerated. And if there is a world government being put together, it’s not doing – it’s not doing very well. It’s not going very well…

Tory councillor John Goulandris: ‘Bristol Is Not, And Never Should Be, A One-Party Dictatorship’ – Changes to Bristol City Council’s constitution have been branded a “shameless power grab” that will “effectively neuter local democracy”. The Labour administration insists that the move will make the democratic process fairer and more transparent, as it effectively gives elected councillors from the ruling party more opportunity to make their voices heard on behalf of their constituents. Under the changes, Labour will increase the number of its backbench councillors taking chair roles in committees and decrease opportunities for opposition parties to put forward ‘golden’ motions for debate – which will reflect the proportionality of the chamber instead of working on rotation.

Labour’s Bristol Mayor Candidate Marvin Rees In 2016: ‘I Want To Share My Power As Mayor’ – Marvin Rees has vowed to welcome politicians of all parties into his cabinet if elected mayor of Bristol, in a significant move away from his unsuccessful last campaign. Following his selection by the Labour Party to run against George Ferguson for a second time, he said he is now open to a “rainbow cabinet” – considered a major sticking point at the last election – and wants to give more power to his cabinet members. In his first extensive interview following his selection in September, Rees also said he wanted to give councillors the job of reviewing residents’ parking zones which he said were “too expensive to scrap”. He also pledged his support to newly elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, “a good man” who Rees said he would work with to bring greater powers to Bristol to build houses and improve the city’s transport. Speaking to Bristol24/7 following his selection in a tight contest with councillor Mark Bradshaw, Rees said his campaign was in the “early stages”, but some changes had already been made to his approach at the last election in 2012. Most notably, the former BBC Radio Bristol journalist said he had changed his position on who would be part of his cabinet. “We would have people from other parties in our cabinet. The key is to work with the city to set out a Bristol agenda.” He added that he wants to give his cabinet “real political power” instead of treating them “essentially as an advisory room”. “My approach to cabinet is to genuinely share power with them so that you don’t end up retaining all the executive power and it all being about the self,” he said, asking: “Do we share power or do we hold power with a sole individual?” He said he wanted to extend his approach to decentralising the power of the mayor by also giving councillors more of a stake in the democratic process….

Bristol Mayor George Ferguson Denies ‘Dictatorial’ Slur – Mr Ferguson, an architect, was elected as an independent in 2012 – Bristol’s mayor George Ferguson says he will be “more consensual” should he win a second term in May’s election and has denied being “dictatorial”. He told the BBC he had “taken flak” for his residents’ parking zones (RPZ) but successful cities had to be prepared to make “brave decisions”. RPZ opponents drove a tank through Clifton while his city-wide 20mph limit roll-out has also been criticised…. “I’m not that dictatorial person that people try to paint me as,” he said. “Occasionally I may have lost my rag with people….it may have been once a year….but it gets repeated and repeated and that becomes my image….

Ex-Mayor George Ferguson: ‘The Mayor’s Office’s Decision-Making Process Seems To Have Broken All Seven Principles Of Public Life’ I do not doubt mayor Marvin Rees’ honesty, or question his personal integrity. I am absolutely sure he believes he is doing the right thing for Bristol. However, I do strongly question the motives of some of those who advise and influence him. In particular, his political head of office who seems to have been driving council policy; and YTL, the Malaysian company that seeks to relieve Bristol of our hard-won £53m grant towards the arena project. I have been listening to statements from the mayor’s office with increasing concern over the last couple of weeks, compounding a confused decision-making process that seems to have broken all seven principles of public life: 1. Selflessness: It is evident that the decision making has been driven, at least in part, by personal resentment rather than by what is best for the people of Bristol who have been clear as to their preference. 2. Integrity: Accepting thousands of pounds worth of hospitality from a company seeking advantage from a mayoral decision is not “normal”, as claimed. 3. Objectivity: Freedom of Information requests have revealed clear bias in consultancy appointments and decision-making ever since Marvin’s first trip to Malaysia to meet with YTL in December 2017. 4. Accountability: The mayor, presumably advised by his head of office, has refused to submit himself to the council’s scrutiny process. 5. Openness: The mayor’s office has grossly underplayed the significance of thousands of pounds of expenses paid by YTL, listing them inconspicuously with minor gifts or meals, without declaring even an estimated cost. 6. Honesty: Misleading figures have been quoted regarding project costs to make false comparisons, and the people of Bristol have been misled that the mayor was yet to make up his mind. 7. Leadership: Marvin has allowed his office and other interested parties to drive what has been a fiasco of a decision making process and to lose their moral compass….

Mayor Marvin Rees blasted for ‘truly shocking’ attack on democracy by claiming opponents play ‘ping-pong’ with issues. He said ‘one of the death-knells of getting things done in Bristol is to begin to get people on these benches to play ping-pong with it’. Marvin Rees has been criticised for launching a “truly shocking” attack on democracy in Bristol. The city’s mayor blamed inaction over major decisions on “political shenanigans” in the council chamber and accused councillors of playing “ping-pong” with issues. His comments, during a debate at full council on the proposed multi-million pound revamp of Cumberland Basin, have alarmed opposition leaders. Explaining the creation of two unelected advisory groups which will progress the plans for the area rebranded as Western Harbour, Mr Rees slammed members’ right to debate controversial topics on behalf of the residents they represent as counter-productive. The leaders of the three city council opposition parties have blasted the Labour mayor’s statements, accusing him of “attacking democracy”, “losing contact with reality” and being unable to take criticism. Rounding off the Western Harbour debate at the full council meeting on November 12, Mr Rees said: “Historically this organisation has failed to meet the challenges of the city because of political shenanigans. “They have not made decisions, they haven’t delivered homes or transport solutions and we are dealing with the legacy of that today.” He said he was taking the Western Harbour advisory groups “out of politics”. One of the working groups will include local people, residents’ groups and businesses, set up to “influence early plans” for the area. Alongside that will be a “reference group” comprising “individuals and organisations that enables local groups and the community to be engaged and informed about what is happening and how to participate with the proposed scheme development”.“I’m not on it. No cabinet member is on it. After the meeting, Lib Dem group leader Gary Hopkins said: “It is a symptom of the mayoral system that the further they get up and up the ivory tower, they lose contact with reality and see anyone who doesn’t agree with them 100 per cent as an enemy. “He actually uses the public disquiet with politicians, which undoubtedly has grown over the past two or three years because of what’s been going on in Parliament, to prevent scrutiny, and sees people asking relevant questions as acting irresponsibly. “It is an attack on the democratic process. “The majority of Bristol’s public are well-informed and do not like what they’re hearing and seeing. “The mayor trying to pull the wool over their eyes on everything is not a good way to proceed. “Clearly the mayoral system has got to go. “In the meantime we will be trying every means possible to uphold the democractic process and raise issues so the public can actually see what is going on and get involved. “But the mayor has bent the constitution, he’s got all the power on his side and it’s quite difficult to do that now.”…

And they all smile. “All very nice,” adds Mr Rees, as he turns on his microphone. But all isn’t very nice. Because the mayor is ridiculing another human being. In fact, some of those in front of Mr Rees are sneaking a look at the target of this so-called humour. He is sat on his own on the other side of the council chamber, trying to do his job while being publicly humiliated by Bristol’s political elite. That person is Adam Postans. He is a journalist. And, today, Bristol Live is standing up for Adam. The meeting began with what the mayor, still laughing at his own humour, called “a jovial start” – made, coincidentally, with the recording microphones switched off. Seeing Adam, Mr Rees had joked: “Be great to have a journalist here”. And how they laughed. This from a mayor who, in the same meeting, bemoaned the “downward spiral of the quality of our civic discourse”. Civic discourse? In another context, Mr Rees’ attempt to publicly tarnish Adam’s reputation could be seen as slander. It was certainly a breach of the council members’ code of conduct which, under a section entitled “Respecting others”, advises members that they should “Always treat people with respect, including the organisations and public you engage with.”…

Venezuela says eight killed in foiled ‘invasion by sea’ Interior Minister Nestor Reverol says ‘mercenary terrorists’ launched attack from Colombia. 3 May 2020   Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said the group landed early on the coast of La Guaira, about 32km from the capital Caracas [Reuters] Venezuela’s government has said it foiled a marine incursion by “terrorist mercenaries” who attempted to enter the country on speedboats from neighbouring Colombia, adding security forces killed eight of the fighters. The group landed early on Sunday on a beach in the port city of La Guaira, about 20 miles (32km) from the capital Caracas, Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said in a televised address.

US Pulling Patriot Missiles, Warplanes Out of Saudi Arabia Amid Dispute. US wants Saudi oil production cut to ensure stable prices – The Trump Administration has been annoyed at Saudi Arabia’s inability to stabilize oil prices at a level high enough to ensure US producers a profit, and in a move that appears to be retaliation based on those tensions, the US is starting to pull military assets out of Saudi Arabia. Officials announced on Thursday that the US will be withdrawing two Patriot missile batteries, along with a number of warplanes from the Saudi desert, along with other air defenses. The assets were placed in the area in recent months to “counter Iran.” The US buildup in Saudi Arabia began after a Yemeni missile hit oil-producing regions. Saudis blamed Iran, and the US sent forces there to “deter” them. US-Iran tensions over Iraq ultimately led to more deployments into the area. Putting troops there appears to have given the US the leverage to pull troops out of there, and with Saudi efforts to try to get oil prices back up largely unsuccessful, the US appears to have decided that this will coax them into action…

Senate fails to override Trump’s veto of Iran war resolution that would have curbed his ability to launch a strike. – WASHINGTON – The Senate on Thursday failed to override President Donald Trump’s veto of an Iran war powers resolution that would have curbed his ability to launch a military strike against that country. In a 49-to-44 vote, supporters fell short of the two-thirds supermajority needed to overturn Trump’s veto, which came Wednesday evening. The resolution would have barred Trump from using military force against Iran without explicit congressional authorization. In his veto statement, Trump called the resolution “very insulting” and leveled unexpectedly harsh criticism at Republicans who supported it. He argued that Democrats were using the issue to divide the GOP in an election year. “The few Republicans who voted for it played right into their hands,” Trump said. Sen. Tim Kaine, the chief author of the resolution, blasted Trump for bringing electoral politics into a debate about war.”It was not introduced to divide the Republican Party. It was not introduced to affect the election. It was introduced to stop a rush to an unnecessary war,” Kaine told reporters in a conference call before Thursday’s vote. “But the president can’t see that because all he can see is himself and the prospects for his own election.”

Discovery of radioactive metal points to ‘success’ of Nazi atomic bomb programme. Oranienburg was reportedly the location of Adolf Hitler’s secret uranium enrichment facility – An amateur treasure hunter in Germany has stumbled upon what could be radioactive material from a secret research facility dating back to World War II. 64-year-old Bernd Thälmann was exploring the ground in Oranienburg, north-east Germany, with his metal detector when it gave an unusual ‘bleep’. After bringing the mysterious object home, the pensioner alerted the authorities about his discovery of a shiny lump of metal. Police discovered the find was radioactive, leading to the evacuation of 15 residents from several houses by emergency services. Specialists in hazmat suits searched Mr Thälmann’s home and removed the suspicious object in a lead-lined container which was then placed inside a protective suitcase. Mr Thälmann is now being investigated for being in possession of “unauthorised radioactive substances”, according to the Berlin Courier. German authorities have revealed that the area of Oranienburg was the location of Adolf Hitler’s secret uranium enrichment facility. The research centre was tasked with enriching uranium oxide imported from South America, to make weapons-grade plutonium. The ultimate aim was to create a Nazi atomic bomb.

The Establishment and press responded with derisive sneers and fabricated evidence that a skull had been DNA tested (quite how was not clear) and proven to be Bormann’s despite having red clay on it from Ita, Paraguay where Bormann is thought now to have lived out his days to a ripe old age as a Fourth Reich Mafia Kingpin.
