Join us-at 8am for the ‘die-in’ at 8.15am, marking the moment when the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated over Hiroshima, Japan. On Saturday 9th August, there will be a similar event on College Green, Central Bristol, BS1 5UY to remember the moment that the second atomic bomb was exploded above the city of Nagasaki. Join us at 10.45 on, for the silent vigil and ‘die-in’ at 11.02 Estimates of the numbers of civilians, soldiers, prisoners of war and slave labourers killed and injured by these two weapons have varied over the years, depending on the sources quoted, but it is generally agreed that over 200,000 were killed or fatally wounded and at least as many injured by the blasts and the subsequent radioactive ‘fall out’. “Hibakusha” This literally translates to “bomb-affected people”, the hundreds of thousands of survivors who suffered severe injuries, radiation sickness, and long-term health problems. The Hibakusha have played a crucial role in raising awareness about the devastating effects of nuclear weapons and advocating for their abolition. They share their experiences and stories to educate others and promote peace. Their firsthand accounts offer a powerful and unique perspective on the human cost of nuclear war, emphasising the lasting impact of these events on individuals and society.

Sue Luger discusses her installation art about Gaza. Starmer come clean! The British public deserve the truth over deployment of US nuclear weapons. The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament calls on the British government to make a formal statement on the return of US nuclear weapons to Britain and allow for a transparent debate and vote in Parliament on any such a deployment. It follows reports in the media that high priority US transport aircraft designated for nuclear cargo, was detected landing at RAF Lakenheath last week. This appears to have been a “one-way drop-off” of B61-12 nuclear bombs. This means US nuclear weapons are on British soil for the first time since 2008. Despite the government’s secrecy, evidence has gradually emerged that the base has been primed for a new US nuclear weapons mission. This includes the doubling of nuclear-capable F-35A squadrons to RAF Lakenheath, upgrades to the base’s special weapons storage bunkers to hold the B61-12, and the building of a ‘Surety dormitory’ – accommodation for the additional personnel needed for such a nuclear weapons mission. Earlier this year, CND uncovered declassified Ministry of Defence documents which give US Visiting Forces across Britain an exemption from British nuclear safety regulations. This exemption means that local councils will never be told about the presence of nuclear weapons at these bases – and are therefore not obliged to produce their own emergency plans for a radiological accident. Successive British governments have tried to obstruct debate on this deployment, hiding behind so-called ‘national security’. However, these bombs won’t keep us safe. Instead, they increase the risk of nuclear war. This is because the B61-12 have been designed by the US specifically for use on the battlefield alongside conventional weapons. It puts British people on the nuclear frontline of Donald Trump’s global wars – without any protection. Polling from May 2025 found that 61% of people in Britain don’t want US nuclear weapons in Britain. This is just another shameful example of the government ramming through its agenda without any consultation with the public they are supposed to represent the wishes of. Those opposed to this dangerous development are invited to join the monthly vigil at the main gate of RAF Lakenheath, scheduled for this Saturday, from 12 noon to 2pm. More details here. CND Chair Tom Unterrainer said: “CND has been calling on the government to come clean about the return of US nuclear weapons to Britain since 2022 – with more evidence proving that RAF Lakenheath is being primed for such a mission gradually uncovered ever since. It is completely inappropriate for the public to be finding out about such a major escalation in nuclear dangers via reports in British newspapers and the assessments of security experts. Starmer must make a public statement about this major change in Britain’s security arrangements and allow for a transparent and democratic debate on this to be held in Parliament. Enough of the gaslighting and hiding behind national security – the public deserve the truth!”

Royal Air Force chief avoids Gaza questions as Israeli counterpart visits UK Sir Rich Knighton refused to talk to Declassified about his support for Israel’s air force as their commander landed in England. Britain’s top air force officer has angrily avoided questions about Gaza, while his colleague pushed a journalist out of the way. Air chief marshal Sir Rich Knighton hurried to a taxi outside Savoy Place in central London on Thursday, while being grilled by Declassified about his aerial surveillance of the conflict. Knighton had just finished hosting a global gathering of air force commanders – sponsored by arms firms with ‘gold’ tickets costing £995 – where he spoke about the lessons of a Tom Clancy novel. As chief of the air staff, Knighton has direct access to prime minister Keir Starmer and is in charge of Royal Air Force (RAF) spy planes over Gaza. There have been more than 500 surveillance flights since their launch in December 2023, with Knighton visiting Israel to meet his counterpart Tomer Bar the following month, by which point 70% of Gaza’s infrastructure had already been destroyed. We grilled Starmer’s air force chief over his support for Israel Knighton only spoke to say the conference had been “great, thank you” before falling silent as Declassified asked: “Why are you still sharing intelligence with the Israeli military?” His colleague, squadron leader Ryan Kerr, repeatedly tried to stop the interview by shoving our reporter. As Knighton neared his car, we asked again: “Why are you still sharing intelligence with Benjamin Netanyahu while he’s wanted by the international criminal court for war crimes in Gaza?” His private secretary, Andie Schaer, blocked one of our cameras before declining to comment on behalf of her boss. Alanah Donnell, the RAF’s director of communications, said “there’s no interviews here today”. ‘Star of the show’ As Knighton’s car sped away, news broke that his Israeli opposite number, Major General Bar, had touched down at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire to attend a nearby airshow the next day. Israeli public broadcaster Kan said Bar was visiting England for “meetings with air force commanders…on the edge of the [Royal International] Air Tattoo event” at Fairford, where many delegates at the London conference seemed to be headed. Although the Tattoo’s website claimed Israel’s military was not participating, and its press office declined to comment, Kan said Bar was “the ‘star’ of the event” due to his recent experience of bombing Iran. Bar is also responsible for Israel’s aerial bombardment of Gaza which has devastated the coastal strip and left tens of thousands of Palestinians dead. He ordered pilots returning from air strikes on Iran to drop any spare bombs on Gaza before landing. When asked if Bar was attending the airshow, Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) told Declassified: “Israel remains a key partner”. The spokesperson added: “The Royal International Air Tattoo is a world-leading airshow and we routinely host a large number of dignitaries from across the globe”. Declassified pressed the MoD and Foreign Office on whether Bar was granted “special mission” immunity for his visit, which would shield him from arrest for war crimes under universal jurisdiction legislation. Both departments refused to respond to Declassified’s questions, though it seems unlikely that Bar would have agreed to visit without diplomatic protection from prosecution.
Bristol Palestine Action protest last Saturday – Police arrested several people, but refused to arrest elderly couple. 17 people arrested at Palestine Action protest in Bristol ‘I support non-violent direct action by Palestine Action’ said a printed sign around the neck of 84-year-old Gwynn from Easton. She and other protesters on College Green were surrounded by police officers but while 17 were arrested and taken away in police vans, Gwynn was not arrested but her signs were confiscated. Palestine Action is now a proscribed terrorist organisation and despite the protesters sitting down peacefully between City Hall and the cathedral gatehouse, police still arrested them as it is a criminal offence to support the group. Ahead of what seemed to be her imminent arrest, Gwynn told Bristol24/7 that she was “apprehensive as anybody would be”. She added: “But if I were in Gaza, I wouldn’t be preparing for arrest; I could be shot, executed on the spot simply for being suspicious.” 84-year-old Gwynn from Easton was not arrested but will have to report to a police station at a later date – photo: Martin Booth “I wish I had your courage, madam, I wish I had your bravery” one supporter told Gwynn while she was sitting in her wheelchair surrounded by police. Police officers carried some of those they had arrested by their arms and legs towards waiting vans parked outside Central Library. As one man was arrested and led away amid chants of “leave him alone”, he shouted: “Have I terrorised anyone today? I just need to find one witness who I have terrorised today.” An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: “A total of 17 people were arrested during a protest in Bristol this afternoon (19 July). “Officers engaged with protesters on College Green, explaining that the recent proscription of the Palestine Action group by the government made it a criminal offence to express support for it under the Terrorism Act 2000. “Seventeen people were arrested under Section 13 of the act and several placards were seized. “A further three people will be invited to attend a voluntary interview at a future date.

Then there’s heavy water And of course everybody always hears about the Norwegian heavy water plant uh at Vemork, and how it was very heroically destroyed by Kirk Douglas and Richard Harris But it’s odd that you never really hear about the other 26 or so German heavy water sites that were scattered all over Axis territory Uh there were at least two others in Norway There was one in nominally neutral Sweden shipping heavy water to Germany Uh there were these all over Europe here were heavy water plants all the way down to southern Italy But oddly you never hear about these Uh but here is the uh documentation that these existed Uh so why was Germany producing heavy water at at least 27 plants uh despite their urgent wartime needs to be producing other things uh suggest that the heavy water was very important and very urgently needed uh for breeder reactors or electronuclear breeders or as fusion fuel or for other purposes And if you go looking for more details in archives you find yes we have lots of reports on these heavy water plants and no you cannot see them Withdrawal notice access restricted withdrawal notice access restricted withdrawal notice access restricted 80 years later you still cannot read the official reports on these wartime German heavy water plants Then there were a number of other nuclear related materials that were also produced in Germany And for a nuclear program as you know you need other things like lithium brillium boron graphite florine for the uranium hexafflloride aluminum calcium to help in purifying the uranium nickel zirconium cadmium as neutron absorber And we know that during the war Germany produced all these materials in quantities of thousands of tons And we know this by post-war Allied reports where Allied investigators went into these factories after the war and you know said tell us you know how how much of the stuff you produced It was thousands of tons We even know that there were some sites uh such as IG Farbin’s Bitterfeld facility that were producing several of these nuclear related materials all at the same site That seems quite suspicious Uh and we know that uh since Germany was collaborating with Japan on a nuclear program uh that we have uh shipments uh recorded where Germany was shipping by submarine to Japan uh at least 560 kg of uranium which may have been enriched uh but several of these materials along with it They also shipping you know lithium and stuff along with it uh and we know that after the war these very same German plants continue to produce these very same material in order to supply the post-war US nuclear weapons program and the post-war Soviet nuclear weapons program So why were these plants producing these materials during the war who was their customer
Trident Replacement will cost £200bn. £205 billion: the cost of Trident replacement – CND has calculated that replacing Trident, Britain’s nuclear weapons system, will end up costing at least £205 billion, and that’s before taking into account that Ministry of Defence projects typically go well over budget. The costs of replacing Trident Manufacturing four successor submarines – £31 billion Contingency fund – £10 billion Missile extension programme – £350 million Replacement warheads – £4 billion Infrastructure capital costs – £4 billion In service costs – £142 billion Conventional forces directly assigned to support Trident – £1 billion Decommissioning – £13 billion TOTAL – £205 billion Parliament voted in July 2016 to go ahead with building new submarines, the delivery vehicles for the nuclear missiles. In its National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and Security Review, published in November 2015, the government announced a huge increase in the estimated cost of these submarines to £31 billion. Additionally, a contingency fund of £10 billion was allocated to the project. The UK leases the missiles for the nuclear weapons system from the United States and will participate in that country’s missile life extension programme so that they can be used until the early 2040s. As set out in the government’s 2006 White Paper on ‘The Future of the United Kingdom’s Nuclear Deterrent’, this will cost £250 million, or £350 million in today’s prices. The 2006 White Paper also stated that the current warhead will last into the 2020s and provided for up to £3 billion for the possible future refurbishment or replacement of the warhead. This is £4 billion in today’s prices. Another £3 billion (or £4 billion in today’s prices) is allocated for infrastructure at Faslane and Coulport bases over the lives of the submarines. The biggest expense however is the day to day running costs, which the government confirms is around 6% of the total defence budget. Conservative MP and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Crispin Blunt worked with Reuters to estimate that over the lifetime of the system, this would add up to £142 billion.

British authors Lee Child and Howard Jacobson as well as famous faces Ozzy Osbourne and Debra Messing are among those calling for the end of boycotts against Israeli authors, festivals and literary institutions. More than 1,000 people from the literary and entertainment industry have signed an open letter from the group Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) in “support of freedom of expression and against discriminatory boycotts”. Jacobson said: “Art is the antithesis to a political party. It is a meeting place, not an echo chamber. Art explores, discovers, differs, questions and surprises. Precisely where a door should be forever open, the boycotters slam it closed.” He won the 2010 Booker Prize for The Finkler Question, which deals with what it means to be Jewish, as well as friendship. The letter says, amid the war in the Middle East, that signatories are “shocked and disappointed to see members of the literary community harass and ostracise their colleagues”. UK’s David Lammy warned he could ‘end up in The Hague’ over Gaza ‘cowardice’ Conservative MP Kit Malthouse tells Labour MPs to pressure their party’s leadership and ‘insist on change’ UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has been warned he could “end up in The Hague” due to his “inaction” and “cowardice” over Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. Conservative MP Kit Malthouse addressed Lammy in the House of Commons on Monday after the foreign secretary announced that the UK and 24 other countries were once again urging Israel to commit to a ceasefire. Lammy said that the UK was setting aside £60m ($84m) in humanitarian assistance to Gaza. But the Labour MP for Tottenham stopped short of suggesting his government would be recognising a Palestinian state – which he is under pressure from MPs to do so ahead of a UN conference at the end of this month. Instead he reiterated that the UK was committed to a two-state solution, before he called Israel’s aid system in Gaza, which has caused nearly 1,000 Palestinians to be killed, “a grotesque spectacle”. The United Nations has repeatedly called the controversial Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid model “inherently unsafe” and in breach of impartial humanitarian principles. The foundation, which began operations in late May following an 11-week Israeli blockade, uses private US mercenaries for delivery. It bypasses the UN-led aid system, which Israel claims has been infiltrated by Hamas – an accusation that is not supported by independently verified evidence. Malthouse, a vocal critic of Israel’s war on Gaza, lashed out at Lammy’s remarks, saying he was “frankly astonished at the statement of the foreign secretary”. “At a time when we’ve got daily lynchings and expulsions on the West Bank, dozens being murdered as they beg for aid,” he said. “I’m just beyond words really at his inaction and frankly complicity by inaction at what is going on. He himself said there’s a massive prison camp being constructed in the south of Gaza. “He knows that leading genocide scholars from across the world now are ringing the alarm bells, and yet he has the temerity to show up to this House and wave his chequebook as if it’s going to solve his conscience. “Can he not see that his inaction – and frankly, cowardice – is making this country irrelevant? Can he also not see the personal risk to him, given our international obligations, that he may end up at The Hague because of his inaction? “And finally, really, frankly, an appeal to the Labour backbenches: We can’t get your leadership to change their minds, only you can – if you organise and insist on change,” he added.
Palestine Action documentary, ‘To Kill a War Machine’, explains enormous damage they have done to Israeli arms industry in Britain. “People had been sent down before, but it became multiple forms of harassment. We’d do a local stall about animal rights and local cops would show up trying to shut us down. They’d stand in front of the stall, intimidating people away. They’d follow activists around, stalk them at demos, anything to isolate us. At government level they changed laws to facilitate crackdowns. Harassment legislation was extended to companies after we challenged the idea in court. In SOCA (section 146-7) they specifically included anti-animal rights rules by banning home demos. That was specifically to stop us from getting shareholders’ addresses and targeting the communities where they lived, which was extremely effective. All the cops who used these laws have moved on now, so they’ve fallen out of use, but these laws are still on the books.” It might seem odd that Starmer, who would be well acquainted with such strategies from his time as a pro-bono movement lawyer in the 2000s, doesn’t simply re-employ them before leaping to terror legislation. Until, of course, you remember that his priority is not to stop a movement, but to outflank his political critics while shoring up his international position. The disastrous effects of proscription on free speech and individual liberty are simple collateral damage in the cause of silencing far-right “two-tier” accusations and brown-nosing the US. The documentary highlights this procession around 3/4 of the way in, noting the path from an early 2022 meeting between Priti Patel and Elbit (shading into a dodgy inclusion of a rep from the supposedly independent Crown Prosecution Service), through to Labour’s use of arrests for non-violent action under terror legislation and a ghosting of activists within the prison system so thorough that even their lawyers couldn’t reach them. A clear path of private complaint, Establishment mobilisation, and politically-charged escalation towards the moment of outright repression we find ourselves in.

Wizard Bisan report – Palestinians believe Israelis are lacing GHF Aid supplies with drug Oxicodone. Oxycodone laced flour is not ‘humanitarian aid’ it is bioterrorism Flooding Gaza with Oxycodone hidden in flour packages and distributed under a false pretence of ‘humanitarian’ intervention feels just about right in terms of the levels of depravity we have come to expect from the ‘most moral army’ in the world. At a base level, the controversy surrounding the establishment of U.S.-Israeli Aid Centres to distribute aid continues to grow. To date, approximately 549 Palestinian civilians are known to have been killed at these distribution sites when waiting for aid, a number that grows by the hour. Over 4000 have been injured since they became operational in May 2025. Alongside the mass extermination of those waiting in line for the most meagre of handouts, some 39 Palestinians have been disappeared from the centres, an issue that appears to have gone unnoticed globally. Testimonies from the Israeli Occupation Forces themselves have revealed that military personnel have received orders to deliberately fire on Palestinians waiting in line, whilst Médecins Sans Frontières have described the food distribution scheme ‘as slaughter masquerading as humanitarian aid’. As reported in the Middle East Eye, the recent revelation that the U.S.-Israeli backed ‘aid’ distribution centres are inserting narcotics into humanitarian flour packages, whilst deeply alarming, will come as little surprise to many. If killing a starved population as they attempt to receive food is the mindset of those responsible for its distribution, the inclusion of Oxycodone within the aid provided is entirely logical. The seeding of opiates in Gaza by the Israeli occupation is not a new allegation. The Israeli government has been accused several times over the last 2 decades of ‘flooding’ Gaza with drugs, specifically Tramadol in an attempt to both pacify the population and harbour addiction in the region. The issue was brought into sharp focus in a 2010 documentary that highlighted Tramadol use in Gaza in the aftermath of the Israeli ‘Operation Cast Lead’. Then head of the Anti-Drug Task Force, Jamil Al Dahshan noted that the drugs were mostly supplied by Israel, and brought into Gaza indirectly via Egypt.

This film investigates the intricate web of this opposition and identifies a number of interlocking interests at play. The Luton based Exodus Collective came into existence in 1992 as part of the growing DIY culture which arose in response to unemployment, poverty and frustration amongst young people. They organised free ‘rave’ parties, renovated derelict homes, set up a community farm and now plan to open a community centre.Some of their activities border on illegality but they are entirely peaceful Exodus has a huge following amongst local people. Their philosophy has a strong spiritual strand, appealing to notions of community and natural justice in its struggle for survival and renewal. However, their utopian project presents a challenge to the status quo and has met with powerful opposition. Exodus from Babylon investigates the intricate web of this opposition, from aggressive policing to local government obstruction. It reveals the shift in policing from reactive peace keeping to proactive intervention, involving a series of special operations by Bedfordshire Police. The programme looks in detail at a number of police actions against Exodus, including the prosecution and acquittal of collective member, Paul Taylor, for possession of Ecstasy and for murder. It asks why the strategy of getting tough with Exodus emerged and identifies a number of interlocking interests at play. Peter Thiel discusses his obsession with the Antichrist and Armageddon. Trillionaire Bilderberg 4th Reicher Peter Thiel is an Accelerationist who is funding technology to replace human decision making and bring the West into line with dictatorial anarcho-capitalist China – yet he warns us about the Antichrist he and Netanyahu are enabling – In his interview with “Uncommon Knowledge” last October, Thiel suggested the United States itself could, depending on its political trajectory, be an “obvious candidate” for what he sees as the Antichrist system. Pointing to the Cold War era, Thiel said the U.S. has embodied characteristics of both good and evil. “I think anti-Communism was the supranational ideology that stood against the one world state of Communism. “And so, the U.S. is ground zero of globalization and it’s ground zero of the resistance to bad globalization, we’re both,” he said. “That’s why it matters so much, the President of the United States maybe is the catacomb, maybe it’s a type of anti-Christ, but presidential elections matter.” Despite his ominous predictions, Thiel suggested Americans are more focused on Armageddon-like risks like nuclear war or AI mismanagement than the risk of a totalitarian one-world government, which, according to Thiel, poses a greater threat due to its lack of scrutiny. “That tells me that we should worry about both, but if you had to prioritize them, you should be way more worried about the Antichrist because no one’s worried about it,” he said. Ultimately, Thiel, despite signaling an uncertainty about any literal interpretation of the Scriptures, warned that most Americans — and even most Christians — fear the end of the world more than the Antichrist. “I don’t know how literally one should take these biblical accounts, but in the biblical accounts, the Antichrist comes first because people are more scared of Armageddon than the Antichrist, perhaps.” Thiel’s Palantir, which last month landed a $480 million contract with the U.S. Army for its AI-driven Maven Smart System, helped develop a new system for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in 2020 to track the production, administration and distribution of COVID-19 injections. The Tiberius system, a data collection and analysis platform from Palantir, was used by HHS to track hospital data related to COVID-19 patients. As part of the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed, Tiberius was later used to manage the purchase of COVID-19 serum and to track whether certain populations were taking the injection.
