Wes Streeting mixes with tech billionaires at Bilderberg summit Britain’s health secretary, who wants to shake up the NHS, was tight lipped about his encounter with AI moguls at elite conference. UK health secretary Wes Streeting ignored questions from the media as he left the annual Bilderberg meeting at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday. Streeting, who fancies himself as a future prime minister, spent the weekend rubbing shoulders with over 120 politicians, media moguls, and corporate CEOs such as Pfizer’s Albert Bourla and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella. Tech billionaires were well represented at this year’s Bilderberg, including Palantir founders Peter Thiel and Alex Karp, whose firm’s vast data contract with the NHS is the target of campaigners. Palantir has controversially just been given the entire US population’s database to process. If knowledge is power, then that’s a lot of power. Topics on this year’s agenda of closed door talks included sessions on artificial intelligence (AI), which may well have caught Streeting’s attention. He is an enthusiastic convert to AI in the NHS, pledging to “bring our health service into the digital age” and vowing to “cut unnecessary red tape” around the implementation of new technology. The conference ended with all the delegates being ferried on a boat to a lavish banquet at a palace owned by Sweden’s fabulously wealthy Wallenberg family. Onboard the boat “Sjobris” or “Easy breeze” the champagne flowed as Streeting was seen chatting with Ryan Air’s CEO Michael O’ Leary. Photos from this cruise may not impress Streeting’s constituents of Ilford North, where last year an anti-establishment independent candidate Leanne Mohamad came within 528 votes of taking his seat. Jeremy Hunt, himself a former UK health secretary, was also onboard but preferred to hang out on the more discreet lower deck with the Bilderberg organisers and John Micklethwaite of Bloomberg. Bilderberg has remodelled itself as the golden ticket on the elite AI conference circuit offering something that no other tech summit can give: three days of locked-away access to heads of state, senior public officials and policymakers.

Despite all these public figures there on government business, no press conference was held after the talks. So I tried to grab a few words with Streeting as he waited for his Volvo to take him to the airport. I asked him if he was going to divulge who he had met with and what had been discussed, and whether he was going to declare the hospitality he had received from the Bilderberg group itself and by extension the Wallenbergs. He maintained a stony silence throughout our chat. The wall of silence met by anyone trying to cover Bilderberg is obviously concerning: the heady mixture of lobbyists, public officials, bank bosses and military leaders means that policies that affect us all are being shaped behind closed doors at a conference funded by and packed with rapacious billionaires. I reached out for comment from the UK’s department of health for a statement on Streeting’s attendance at the meeting. The response was: “The Secretary of State will be attending the meeting in Stockholm as a government representative and will engage in discussions across a range of issues.” This creates an interesting tension in the light of the rather disingenuous statement on the Bilderberg group’s website that delegates attend the talks as private individuals only. It claims: “Thanks to the private nature of the Meeting, the participants take part as individuals rather than in any official capacity, and hence are not bound by the conventions of their office or by pre-agreed positions”. Streeting is one of only a handful of Labour MPs who have been invited to Bilderberg in the last decade. Streeting’s colleague, foreign secretary David Lammy, attended Bilderberg in 2022 before entering government. Lammy later declared that his trip, costing more than £5,000, had been paid for by Newbridge Advisory, of which the sole director was former MI6 chief Sir John Sawers. Sawers, who sits on Bilderberg’s steering committee, invited the current head of MI6, Richard Moore, to this year’s summit, which also discussed geo-politics.  

When war criminal Israeli President Isaac Herzog lands in London on Thursday he is NOT to be arrested! Herzog to visit UK next week Israeli leaders have made secret trips to Britain on multiple occasions over the past year despite ongoing ICJ and ICC cases The Israeli president is set to visit London next Thursday, just days before Britain is expected to recognise Palestinian statehood at the UN general assembly later this month, according to UK media reports. Isaac Herzog is expected to meet ministers and senior political figures, the Guardian reported on Thursday, but Downing Street has not yet confirmed a meeting. The latest, unannounced, visit is likely to spark outrage among Labour backbenchers and other MPs, since the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is wanted for alleged war crimes by the International Criminal Court. Herzog has backed Israel’s military operations in Gaza. In October 2023 he claimed that all Palestinians in Gaza were “unequivocally” responsible for the 7 October Hamas attack. “It is not true this rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved,” he said in remarks that are widely accused of having been genocidal in nature. Herzog’s reported trip is one of many by senior Israeli officials to the UK over the last two years of the genocidal campaign in Gaza. On 25 November 2024, Israeli military chief Herzi Halevi flew to Britain on a secret trip and met Lord Richard Hermer, the attorney general. The Labour government gave Halevi special mission immunity for the trip. In mid-April, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar made a similarly clandestine trip to the UK and met the foreign secretary. That visit was just days after Israeli authorities detained and deported Abtisam Mohamed and Yuan Yang, two Labour MPs. The head of the Israeli air force, Major General Tomer Bar, also recently met senior British defence officials on a visit to the UK. Herzog’s expected visit comes amid frayed diplomatic relations between Britain and Israel. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy told parliament on Monday afternoon that the government intends to make good on its threat to recognise a Palestinian state later this month if Israel does not meet a series of conditions. These conditions, announced in late July, included that Israel agree to a ceasefire and commit not to annex any of the occupied West Bank.

The IT Crowd creator, who said his tweets were a “joke”, said he was stopped by five armed officers after flying into Heathrow Airport from Arizona. Sharing the news on Substack, he said the officers ‘escorted him to a private area’ and revealed he was under arrest over three of his tweets about transgender people. One of the offensive tweets read: “If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. “Make a scene, call the cops, and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.” Another tweet saw him post a photo of activists gathering for a trans rights march. He wrote with it: “A photo you can smell.” Speaking of the arrest, he added: “When they began reading me my rights, the red mist descended and I came close to becoming one of those police body-cam videos where you can’t believe the perp isn’t just doing what he’s told—and they treated me gently after that. “They even arranged for a van to meet me on the tarmac so I didn’t have to be perp-walked through the airport like a terrorist. Small mercies.” After being interviewed, a nurse was sent to check on him and discovered his blood pressure was ‘over 200 – stroke territory’. Graham continued: “The stress of being arrested for jokes was literally threatening my life! So I was escorted to A&E, where I write this now after spending about eight hours under observation.” He later returned to his Substack to share an 11-minute muffled voice recording of the arrest. In the recording, a police officer could be heard saying he was ‘inciting violence’ before reading out his tweets. When an officer told him he was under arrest, Graham could be heard yelling: “I don’t f**king believe it! I’m under arrest?” After a few seconds of muffled speaking, Graham was heard repeatedly saying: “I’m going to sue you into the ground”, before adding: “How dare you?” Someone tells him to “calm down”, telling the writer: “There’s no need for it” as Graham continues yelling. There were a couple of minutes of muffled sounds before Graham mentioned how ‘furious’ he is and talked about ‘incels’. He also said: “You don’t talk to me for standing up for women’s rights.”

1974 Goodies – the mirth inspectors. Mirth Inspectors (Covid Marshalls?) The Goodies Rule UK Christmas special 1974 – the whole country rapidly goes bonkers over bouncing, including the host of the Nationwide Crisis Edition (despite him being tied to his chair in desperation!) and after the Prime Minister yells “I give up!” and bounces off a building, the whole nation has to go to the polls. The appeal of the Goodies-led Bouncing Party has waned, as older folk support the Waltzers and a few voters even fancy the extremist strutting Max Walling and McKenzie Square Dancing parties. Eventually with Bouncing Party supporters finding it difficult to fill out the ballot papers while on the move, there is a landslide victory to the Standing Party, whose politicians look suspiciously like wooden dummies in pinstripe suits and bowler hats. The town crier soon reads out a parliamentary edict which bans all bouncing, funky chickening and enjoyment of any sort and makes it an offence for anyone to have fun anymore. The streets are policed by the dreaded Mirth Inspectors; hooded, black garbed, baton wielding thugs on horseback who clobber puppeteers, burst kids balloons and harass anyone who is having a good time in their bid to ‘Keep Britain Gloomy’. However there is an uprising in nearby Sherwood Forest and the Robin Hood-like Goodies ride about on their trandem and entertain people with various circus and magic acts, which leads to prohibition where the fun laws are tightened even further. The ‘unmentionables’ are not to be denied though and after they cause havoc with the St.Valentines Day custard pie massacre, they seek refuge in underground ‘joke-easys’ and gradually round up all of the banned entertainers (although they have the eminently good sense and taste to leave Tony Blackburn behind on the street!) Following a vote of no confidence, the government is toppled (as wooden dummies tumble over like dominoes) and the Entertainers Party is set to govern, except for one major hitch. Because they have spent so long in hiding, all of the old stars have forgotten how to do their acts and despite some expert reminders from Graeme’s brilliant mimicry, they are utterly useless. As an interim measure, a puppet government is set up (with Sooty as the new Prime Minister!), but his prefence for playing the xylophone on Nationwide rather than discussing political issues, followed by a rowdy nursery room-style scrap among the puppets in parliament forces the Goodies (who are watching a tv set imbedded in a tree in the woods) to venture to the country mansion Chequers to sort things out. After they avoid security (Punch and Judy atop a barn door), the Goodies storm the Cabinet room and Tim lectures the puppets for behaving badly, only to come under attack from all directions by enraged puppet politicians. The Goodies escape through a window and flee into the spacious gardens, but the pigs set off an alarm and giant Andy Pandy puppets soon lope after them.

Nigel Farage in Congress on free speech but he voted to ban Palestine Action and to make verbal or written support for Non Violent Direct Action a crime!. Nigel Farage urges US to oppose UK on free speech laws Nigel Farage has urged US politicians and businesses to tell the British government “you’ve simply got this wrong” on freedom of speech rules, as he compared the UK to North Korea. The Reform UK leader was in Washington DC giving evidence to a US congressional committee holding a hearing into whether European laws “threaten Americans’ right to speak freely in the US”. Citing the cases of writer Graham Linehan and a woman who was jailed over a racist tweet, Farage spoke about what he called “the really awful authoritarian situation that the UK has sunk into”. During the session he was heavily criticised by some Democratic members of Congress, including Jamie Raskin who labelled him a “Putin-loving free speech impostor”. Responding to Farage’s appearance at the committee, Labour’s Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said: “Jetting off to another country and hyping up the prospect of the UK’s trade with our closest allies being hit is about as anti-British as you can get.” Earlier in the day Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer accused Farage of having “flown to America to badmouth and talk down our country” adding: “He has gone there to lobby the Americans to impose sanctions on this country that will harm working people.” In his written recommendations to Congress,, external Farage suggested the US government should use “diplomacy and trade” to defend its position on free speech against the UK. However, speaking to members of Congress, he insisted he was not calling for sanctions but instead wanted American companies and politicians to have “honest conversations” with the UK about free speech.

Researchers in India and the US used weather data to simulate the amount of moisture in the soil during six major famines in the subcontinent between 1873 and 1943. Soil moisture deficits, brought about by poor rainfall and high temperatures, are a key indicator of drought. Five of the famines were correlated with significant soil moisture deficits. An 11% deficit measured across much of north India in 1896-97, for example, coincided with food shortages across the country that killed an estimated 5 million people. However, the 1943 famine in Bengal, which killed up to 3 million people, was different, according to the researchers. Though the eastern Indian region was affected by drought for much of the 1940s, conditions were worst in 1941, years before the most extreme stage of the famine, when newspapers began to publish images of the dying on the streets of Kolkata, then named Calcutta, against the wishes of the colonial British administration. In late 1943, thought to be the peak of the famine, rain levels were above average, said the study published in February in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. “This was a unique famine, caused by policy failure instead of any monsoon failure,” said Vimal Mishra, the lead researcher and an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. Food supplies to Bengal were reduced in the years preceding 1943 by natural disasters, outbreaks of infections in crops and the fall of Burma – now Myanmar – which was a major source of rice imports, into Japanese hands. But the Nobel prize-winning economist Amartya Sen argued in 1981 that there should still have been enough supplies to feed the region, and that the mass deaths came about as a combination of wartime inflation, speculative buying and panic hoarding, which together pushed the price of food out of the reach of poor Bengalis.

Robert Edwards – Reform’s Zia Yusuf says Jeremy Corbyn is worse than Tommy Robinson – The right-wing party’s policy chief praised far-right activist Robinson Reform UK’s head of policy, Zia Yusuf, has claimed that former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is worse than far-right anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson. Yusuf made the shocking remarks in an event with Michael Gove, former Conservative cabinet minister and editor of The Spectator magazine, at Reform’s annual conference in Birmingham. Gove asked Yusuf whether he thought Corbyn, an independent MP, or Robinson was worse.  “Jeremy Corbyn is absolutely the worst,” Yusuf responded. The nom-de-guerre of former tanning salon owner Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, Robinson has, over the past two decades, built a violent street movement focused on intimidating the British-Muslim community and stoking fears of an Islamic takeover of the UK. ‘It’s a Muslim invasion of Europe’ – Robinson said in 2016 that “I’m not far-right…I’m just opposed to Islam. I believe it’s backward and it’s fascist. “The current refugee crisis is nothing to do with refugees. It’s a Muslim invasion of Europe.” Corbyn, who led the Labour Party between 2015 and 2020, is today the key figure in the establishment of a new left-wing party that has been heavily critical of Reform. In a recent interview with Middle East Eye, he laid out principles that he said are behind the left-wing party. The first is peace: “Therefore, no bombs to Israel to drop on Gaza, for example.” The other principles “are about economic justice within our society…..

Lisbon funicular accident – it’s been privatised – privatisation accidents. Maintenance tender for Lisbon’s 140yo cable cars scrapped, over price, just days before deadly crash A maintenance tender for the 140-year-old funicular cart that crashed in Lisbon on Wednesday, killing 16 people, was cancelled earlier this week because the bids were too expensive. Authorities in the Portuguese capital are investigating what caused the Elevador da Glória — a cable car popular with tourists that dates to 1885 — to derail, hurtle down a steep hill and smash into a building around 6pm, local time (3am Thursday AEST). In addition to the fatalities, 23 people were injured in the incident. Information available online shows Carris, the publicly owned company that operates Lisbon’s funiculars, cancelled a maintenance tender for them on Monday. It said the decision had been made because “the bidders’ proposals are higher than the base price”. A large number of people, seen from behind, looking at a destroyed cable car. The company also said, “the monthly and weekly maintenance programs and daily inspections have been scrupulously complied with”. However, a Portuguese union official, Manuel Leal, told local media outlets that Carris employees had filed “successive complaints” about the need for maintenance on Lisbon’s funiculars. He said there must be an independent investigation into the “root cause” of the crash. “Especially because workers have been reporting for a long time that the maintenance of these elevators must return to the responsibility of Carris workers and not be handed over to external companies, as is the specific case of the Glória elevator,” he told the Lusa news agency. A colleague of the driver who died in Wednesday’s crash told the ABC “we need to learn” from the incident. On Thursday, Carris chief Pedro de Brito Bogas said the company was doing everything it could to assist authorities probing the crash. ‘It easily could have been me’ The Elevador da Glória carries an estimated 3 million passengers each year on a steep 275-metre journey between Restorers Square and the lively Bairro Alto district. A ride lasts about 3 minutes.

GULF WAR SYNDROME in 1989 and the early 1990s provided ample pre-warning that some vaccines can be extremely dangerous – but the cause ‘squalene’ was suppressed by government and MoD – Illegal ‘squalene’ vaccine link to Gulf war syndrome The illness known as Gulf war syndrome looks likely to have been caused by an illegal vaccine “booster” given by the Ministry of Defence to protect soldiers against biological weapons, according to the results of a new series of tests. Scientists in the United States found that symptoms of the illness were the same for service personnel who received the injections whether or not they served in the Gulf. The common factor for the 275,000 British and US veterans who are ill appears to be a substance called squalene, allegedly used in injections to add to their potency. Such an action would have been illegal. Squalene is not licensed for use on either side of the Atlantic because of potential side effects. Pam Asa and her team at the Tulane medical school in Louisiana tested more than 300 former US military personnel who were given vaccinations to go to the Gulf: 95% tested positive for squalene antibodies. In addition veterans from both sides of the Atlantic were tested, including 20 who were given preparatory injections but who did not go to the war. All 20 tested positive to squalene antibodies. The first non-deployed British sufferer to be tested, Anwen Humphreys, was also found to have antibodies. Dr Asa said in her view the fact that even non-deployed veterans were testing positive for squalene provided conclusive evidence that vaccinations were a “major cause” of the condition. It ruled out the alternative environmental theories floated as causes of Gulf war syndrome. “I believe that those people who were given vaccinations in the US and the UK were given something they should not have been, probably in the anthrax vaccine. [The results] need a thorough examination by the US and UK governments.” Squalene is classed as an ad juvant – a chemical which is added to a vaccine to make it more combative. It is a naturally occurring substance in the human body but injecting it is illegal, and past scientific research in rats and mice has found that it causes auto-immune disease. Consequently, squalene in the form of a vaccine is unlicensed for human or veterinary use. The evidence could be devastating for the Ministry of Defence which is being sued for damages by 1,900 British veterans. If they show they were injected with an illegal substance, the damages could be astronomical. The ministry has refused toreveal what was in the injections…

In the article, Mr Bridgen questions the time it took for ballot boxes to arrive at Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre, where the count took place, and for the counting to begin. He added: “If there was any skulduggery relating to the vote, it would have had to have been before the ballot boxes got to the leisure centre. “I have no idea who would have been behind it. I tell constituents who ask that I’m trying to get to the bottom of it but without a whistleblower, I’m not sure I ever will.” But North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), which organised and ran the count, told LeicestershireLive the result was “democratic, valid and legitimate”, with multiple safeguards in place. Election officials said neither Mr Bridgen or anyone else has made a formal complaint or presented any evidence. Andy Barton, the council’s strategic director of communities at NWLDC, said there was “no question” over the legitimacy of the results or the council’s actions around the election. A combination of business rate and VAT rises, food price inflation and the cost of living has created a perfect storm for the industry, with businesses forced to cut staff, close sites and reduce opening hours. The Treasury insists it is taking action to help, but restaurants and cafes around the country say it’s becoming a struggle to stay afloat.

The apex of the system was the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks, which were themselves private corporations. The growth of financial capitalism made possible a centralization of world economic control and use of this power for the direct benefit of financiers and the indirect injury of all other economic groups.” As Britain headed into war in 1914 the British banks found themselves on the brink of collapse due to their corrupt exploitation of bradbury poundthe Fractional reserve system. The threat of war caused the British public to start asking for their money back. This caused serious problems for the banks and brought them to the brink of bankruptcy. War was declared on the 28th July 1914 and the government gave the banks breathing space by offering capital control, this gave the banks the ability to refuse to pay out on withdrawals as and when they saw fit. The bank holiday, a week later, saw the government step in again by extending the Holliday by three days, and urgent negotiations began. Lloyd George, the then chancellor did all he was asked of by the banks, thus when the banks reopened customers wishing to make withdrawals were issued with newly legal tender printed notes. These notes were issued by the state and backed by nothing more than the credit of the state; these new notes were dubbed “the Bradbury pound” because they were signed by the then secretary of state John Bradbury. As soon as the banking crisis was over Lloyd George again did as he was told and stopped issuing the notes. The banks pointed out that, if the government continued to issue these interest free notes the bankers would not be able to make a healthy profit from the war. Despite Lloyd George’s capitulation precedence had been set in Britain which could be adopted today. Since the end of WWII Britain has gone from one the biggest industrial producers in the world to one in which no matter the education your choices are stacking shelves or serving others, just to earn the money you need to buy the products and eat the food you serve and make. Our infrastructure has deteriorated to the point we have a shortfall in energy supply, our water infrastructure continues to leak, our roads are physically damaging peoples cars and our railways are in such disarray that private companies find it cheaper to pay penalties and walk away forcing the government retake ownership. For instance, Richard Branson’s company FirstGroup forcing the government to take back ownership of the East Coast Mainline in 2009 because the contract was not profitable. Yet government promotion of infrastructure rebuilding projects could help us kick start our failing economy back to life and that’s where the “Bradbury Pound” comes in. National credit, when done right, is money issued by government exclusively for physical production, the money gains value on that production rather than the value of some supposed physical metal stored in a bank volt somewhere or even worse, the whim of the “Market”. If there is no production the money that is created in this way is worth no more than the paper is printed on. In this way National Credit is a promise from society to itself and the intension to carry it out. Since the money isn’t borrowed from private sources it carries no interest, for this reason what the National credit is spent on is critical.

It is, for all intents and purposes, one of the biggest power grabs in internet regulation history. The Digital Services Act grants broad powers to the European Commission to regulate content it deems “harmful” across the biggest and most used online platforms. Formally enacted in November 2022, the DSA took effect in 2024 after businesses were given a 15-month “grace” period in which to comply with the new regulations. The Digital Services Act, in short, strong-arms a variety of major online platforms (think Google, Meta, or X) to play by the rules established by the EU. The council will now be left with a hefty legal bill for a case that was started under the previous Labour Mayoral administration. The case came to a head two years ago when those running the council-owned Kuumba Centre in St Pauls effectively barricaded themselves in and refused to leave when Bristol City Council ordered them to leave and told the community it would be taking back the centre and installing a new management team. That sparked a packed public meeting in September 2023 that ended with the community backing the woman who had been running the Kuumba Centre since 2011, Sister Nwanyi Aduke, and pledging to occupy the building round the clock to stop the council physically taking control and changing the locks. The then Labour deputy mayor Asher Craig and the council said the centre needed major investment and a proper management board of trustees, and those running the centre had been doing so without permission or a lease since 2022. Rather than opening informall discussions with the board the council, in 2023, launched a legal case for trespass, eviction and posession, taking the people running the centre to the Civil Court in Bristol to formally eject them. Last year, a community campaign was renewed in St Pauls to bring people together to support the fight to keep control of the community centre, with a petition calling on the council to end the legal case and start discussions with those in charge at the centre over a way forward that didn’t involve going to court.

Abdul Malik, Bristol butchers shop businessman, Green Councillor and chairman of Bristol’s largest Mosque, sends then deletes inappropriate confrontational social media post about Kuumba – he says wants money back. After the decision, there was something of a party atmosphere outside the Civil Justice Centre in Redcliffe, with supporters starting up a sound system. Sister Nwanyi posted on social media that she and the group came into court ‘as trespassers but came out as Kuumba Centre appointed legal trustees’. The council, who had brought the lengthy legal action against the Kuumba Centre as the claimant in the case, was given no order for costs, so will have to foot its own big legal bill for the failed attempt to take the centre back. Bristol Live asked Bristol City Council about the case, and a response is awaited. Abdul gained the respect from all communities and he reinvested his time and money within the locality, working with BEST (Bristol East Side Traders) to regenerate the local area with new shop fronts and traffic calming systems, he was very active in meetings and earned more respect, he joined the local Mosques and other religious organizations and helped build bridges between different communities he also set up a Muslim Funeral Committee to help repatriate deceased Muslims to their desired countries of burial, in 2002 he won the BEST best business award and was nominated for the Inner City 100 Financial times awards. Abdul has helped set up grass root organisations and was elected the first ever Asian Councillor on Bristol City Councillor, in 2007 just 2 years after being a city Councillor his party nominated him to be Lord Mayor of Bristol, missing it by a whisker, Abdul was proud to be considered for the role.

British Home Group – rise of corporations like Black Rock owning housing as profits are so high and secure – captured market of renters – ends up with a paralysed economy. In 1918, over 75% of people rented. Housing per capita was less than half what it is now. Wages were so low, people spent most of it just to survive. 70% of income was spent on just food. But we soldieed on as a society. But history shows things only changed when we made them change. So what can we all learn from this today? And how did things then get better? Take a look at this. From 1845 to the early 2000s, house prices as a multiple income dropped dramatically, falling to just around four times income in the midentth century. And home ownership soared from just 10 to 25% of people owning a home at the turn of the century to over 70% by the early 2000s. So, what on earth changed? How did this all happen? Can we achieve this over the next 20, 30 years? Well, it wasn’t complicated. The housing stock more than doubled. We built smaller, denser homes. So, especially things like terrace houses. Average earnings nearly doubled. And average house prices actually fell over 50 years. So, more homes, cheaper homes, high wages. And for a while that completely worked. But then when everything was great, something else started to happen. The decline of ownership. Look at the trends today on this graph. Private renters are rising. Home ownership is falling. Social housing is shrinking. And it correlates directly with a drop in housing supply. The less we build, the more broken the system becomes. And here’s the critical detail. When we built at scale, the government was leading. The dark blue line in this chart shows public sector house building. The light blue shows private companies. The green housing associations. The moment government scaled back, the private sector took over, but with very different goals. Because homes built for shareholders don’t come cheap when you’ve got to build in big profits. So is it really surprising we’ve seen a commercialized financialized housing system emerge out of all of this?
