On many things Martin Summers was correct on this show. For one a nationally funded election gives equality to candidates’ campaign funds and equal time on the media . And your conservative guest was trivial with her retort in so many words saying that is a waste of tax payers money. A nationally funded election is very cheap compared to other public programs. And when she says we must remain competitive regarding starbucks and other international chains not paying their taxes and what not, you have many more alternatives(local and national competition) that satisfy heterogenous demand. And this neoliberal winner takes all and kills off all other local and national businesses is despicable. This is what has happened in the US. I go back aways. When our center cities were a combination of light industry, grocery stores, retail stores, a center city park, there was much more going on for people, and more alternatives lets say for example in clothing. today with the downtown(high street) dead like most of american cities, the big box stores and the international small brand stores 10 miles out of center city, THEY ARE ALL SELLING THE SAME CLOTHES, COMPUTERS, YOU NAME IT BECAUSE OF INTERNATIONAL WINNER TAKES ALL
