Wesley Bear, Acorn, joins Tony and Martin. He explains how Acorn helps with your housing difficulties, and his own story of his housing. ACORN Bristol is in Bristol. The Truth About Bailiffs: Day 1 Our campaign to end the use of bailiffs for council tax debt recovery is based on evidence. This month, we’ll be sharing the truth about bailiffs – facts and stats that demonstrate why bailiff use must end. Today’s fact: When bailiffs visit they don’t only expect people to pay everything upfront, they also throw in hundreds of pounds in fees for their own profit. This pushes people who are already struggling with debt further into financial hardship, making it harder for them to get back on track with bills. Who stands to benefit from this? Bailiff companies who know this will ensure they keep getting business! We’re still waiting for decisive action from Bristol City Council. You can write to your local councillor here… ACORN is a community union, bringing people together to build power, fight and win the changes our people and our communities need and deserve. We know that the economic and political set up in this country isn’t working for us, so we set up ACORN to win the power and representation we are entitled to. Formed in Bristol in 2014, ACORN started organising in an area plagued by rogue landlords, homes in awful conditions and runaway rents. We brought neighbours together to link arms and resist evictions, marched on dodgy landlords and lettings agents to get repairs done and stolen deposits returned, and put pressure on the council to get tough on the rogue landlords in the city. Since then, we have grown to nearly 30 branches right across England and Wales, fighting and winning on many of the big issues affecting our communities: the cost of living crisis, public transport that doesn’t work for us, cuts to community services, councils sending bully bailiffs to our doors and much more. From stopping people from getting evicted, to major policy changes that improve people’s lives at local, regional and national levels, we use direct action and our strength in numbers to take back power from those who benefit at our expense, to change our country for good. Here’s just a snapshot of our achievements so far: Renter’s Rights Social Housing Eviction Resistance Bailiffs ACORN vs the Banks Cost of living crisis Benefits Public Transport Public Services COVID-19: Community Support & Eviction Ban

Victor Rothschild and William Waldegrave were behind The Council Tax and Poll Tax: [full pdf of Panorama journalist Michael Crick’s paper is available] Mrs Thatcher’s Greatest Blunder? by MICHAEL CRICK (1991) On the evening of Tuesday 12 March 1986 a small party was held at a house in Kensington. Those present included some of the cleverest brains in the country: Victor Rothschild, the scientist and banker who had once directed the Think Tank; Oliver Letwin, a member of Mrs Thatcher’s policy unit; Sir Leonard Hoffmann, a high court judge; Christopher Foster, a former LSE economics professor who ran Coopers and Lybrand’s public policy unit; and Kenneth Baker, the Secretary of State for the Environment. The evening’s host was probably as bright as any of his guests: a fellow of All Souls who since his teens had been tipped as a future Prime Minister, the then Minister of State for the Environment, William Waldegrave. For 18 months the assembled company – politicians, civil servants, academics and outside advisers – had been grappling with one of the most difficult problems in British politics. Now, as they enjoyed food prepared by Caroline Waldegrave, managing director of the Prue Leith cookery school, it was time to celebrate. Between them these men and women had apparently succeeded where numerous previous enquiries had failed. They had devised a new scheme to finance local government spending, and to replace the long-despised domestic rating system. It was designed to make local authorities more accountable to their voters, and more responsible in their taxing and spending. Although fewof those present considered themselves Thatcherites ideologically, most of them admired the Prime Minister and were pleased to have found a solution she wholeheartedly approved of. When Mrs Thatcher spoke of a radical manifesto for the next election, Kenneth Baker told the gathering, their work was what she was talking about. Privately, however, some of WilIiam Waldegrave’s guests could not believe that the Conservatives would ever carry out the scheme they had dreamed up. The poll tax would soon be described by Mrs Thatcher as the ‘flagship’ of her third term, but in retrospect it will probably go down as the iceberg that sank her – her greatest blunder. Although disagreements over Europe were the immediate cause of her downfall in the autumn of 1990, it was theunpopularity of the poll tax or community charge which caused somany Tory MPs to doubt whether Margaret Thatcher could pull off a fourthelection victory. Indeed, in thechronicles of disastrous mistakes made by British governments, the poll tax is one of the worst. What is so remarkable is that so far only Mrs Thatcher herself seems to have been blamed. The poll tax cost the Treasury billions in subsidies; it has caused chaos in local government; it greatly damaged the Tories’ election prospects. The main proponents of the poll tax, who invented it well before Mrs Thatcher gave her stamp of approval, managed to escape unscathed. Indeed what is so remarkable is how easily several of them have progressed to higher jobs in government. For a complete account of how Mrs Thatcher and her party came to adopt the poll tax we will have to wait until the public records become available around 2015. Even then we may not get the full history. In December 1990 BBC ‘Panorama’ began piecing together an interim version of the story, attempting to trace the true origins of the poll tax, and to ascertain exactly who deserves responsibility or blame. Eventually our research was overtaken by the Gulf War, and it will never be used for a ‘Panorama’ programme. But it isstill worth placing some of our work on record. Today many are understandably reluctant to talk about their role in the affair. On the other hand, a few unrepentant souls are happy even to exaggerate their contribution. Quite how the poll tax came to be adopted between 1984 and 1986 is a fascinating tale, rich in irony and amusing twists. Several intriguing questions have yet to be answered. The story goes back to 1974 when Edward Heath appointed Margaret Thatcher as Shadow Environment Secretary following the Conservatives’ February election defeat…..

UK house prices going down. Financial crash. UK house prices fall for first time this year amid rising mortgage rates Nationwide finds typical price was £278,024 in May, as Savills says Iran war has ‘fundamentally changed’ outlook House prices fell in the UK for the first time this year in May, as rising interest rates triggered by the war in Iran hurt homebuyer demand. The price of the average UK home dropped 0.6% in May compared with the month before, according to the lender Nationwide. The typical house price was 1.7% higher than the same point last year, at £278,024. However, that marked a slowdown from an annual growth rate of 3% in April. Robert Gardner, the chief economist at Nationwide, said a “loss of momentum was to be expected” given uncertainty caused by conflict in the Middle East and the subsequent rise in energy prices and market interest rates. Mortgage rates have broadly risen across the market in recent months. The average two-year fixed rate was 5.68% at the end of May, while the average five-year fix was 5.63%, according to the financial data provider Moneyfacts. Tom Bill, a researcher at the estate agent Knight Frank, said Nationwide’s figures showed the housing market was slowing down “at precisely the time of year when you would expect momentum to be building”. “There won’t be a cliff-edge moment, but the impact of higher borrowing costs will erode spending power and squeeze house prices this year as mortgage rates agreed before the Middle East conflict gradually disappear,” he said. The estate agent Savills has forecast that house prices will fall this year owing to rising mortgage rates. It said the impact of war in the Middle East had “fundamentally changed” its outlook for the UK property market, predicting that average house prices will fall 2% this year, compared with its previous expectation of a 2% rise…

Melissa explains how the Bristol Green’s liveable neighbourhood scheme has made their neighbourhood unliveable. Upcoming public meeting and protests. Protests over EBLN bus gate installation divides opinion Bristol Live readers are divided over protests blocking the installation of a new bus gate on Avonvale Road in Barton Hill, as part of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood scheme Bristol Live readers have been weighing in on reports that protesters have been blocking part of an east Bristol bus route, with some engaging in heated debates over whether the scheme should be scrapped or modified. Many residents argue the council is failing to listen to local concerns, while others contend that amendments are already under way and should be informed by data rather than street demonstrations. Contractors have made limited headway installing a new bus gate as part of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood scheme, only to be halted by protesters. ETM, working on behalf of Bristol City Council, has encountered significant resistance in its efforts to install the bus gate on Avonvale Road in Barton Hill. The team arrived in the early hours of Thursday last week (May 21), successfully painting a section of the road red before demonstrators intervened and brought the work to a standstill. By late morning, contractors and a small number of local residents were left watching the freshly laid paint dry. The council is working to move the bus gate from its current location west of the junction with Marsh Lane to a fresh position east of the junction, directly outside Hamblins fish and chip shop. The relocation aims to enhance access for local residents undertaking necessary car journeys, including trips to the Wellspring Centre. However, a group of resolute protesters have consistently prevented this move. Muttsnuts feels: “The Council ain’t listening, so they still not getting it. No one wants this.” Altreality says: “Good! Next get rid of the Cumberland Road bus gate.” Pointer2null asks: “Why doesn’t BCC hold a binding referendum of all the residents within the boundary of the scheme and abide by the result?” MorningStsr writes: “Finally! A good protest!! Keep up the good work people.” HanhamHeights disagrees: “You can’t claim the council isn’t listening while physically blocking the bit where they’re changing the scheme in response to feedback. That’s not democracy, it’s a tiny minority throwing a tantrum because they didn’t get their way. While over on our Facebook page, Ben J comments: “Instead of Council/ETM doing something the locals don’t want, they could be repairing dozens of damaged footpaths and potholes.”

Susan Adlington, from Bristol Blue Glass, on why the business had to close, and how the government could help small to medium businesses. ‘Floods of tears’ on glassware shop’s final day Bristol Blue Glass Company’s final day was on 31 May The manager of a well-known glassware company said all of its staff were in “floods of tears” as it finally closed after nearly four decades in business. Bristol Blue Glass Factory announced back in April that increasing rental costs and fuel prices had created an “overwhelming” financial strain, forcing the company to close. David Barry, the factory’s hot floor manager who has worked for Bristol Blue Glass for 17 years, said: “I am very anxious for the future, the day the furnaces went off, that was the day it really died.” Bristol Blue Glass was set up 38 years ago to re-establish a glass-making tradition which had been lost to the city for more than half a century. The city was popularly known for bottle-making in the 18th and 19th Century. The last factories closed in 1920 and it was not until Bristol Blue Glass opened in 1988 that the skill was revived. Its managing director, Suzanne Adlington, said rises in National Insurance and fuel prices had made it harder for energy-intensive firms to operate. Staff are working in Bristol Blue Glass factory’s workshop. The factory is surrounded by boxes and planks of wood. Everyone is wearing black and grey outfits. Three people in the middle of the picture are standing together and one man in the distance is scratching his head. The walls of workshop have 11 blue glass vases painted on it. Image source, Bristol Blue Glass “There was so much to sort,” he said. “It was so stressful. Breaking down the furnaces is not an easy feat.” He added turning off the furnaces had been like switching off the company’s life support. Barry is hopeful that he can continue to use his skills in some capacity, but is doubtful he will ever have another full-time job making glass.

Why is fuel in UK the highest price in developing world?  Why are fuel prices so high in the UK? Exploring Fuel Duty, VAT, and wholesale costs Ever wondered why filling up your tank costs so much more in the UK compared to other countries? We break down exactly where your money goes at the pump. It’s a common frustration: you see news reports of crude oil prices dropping globally, yet the price at your local petrol station barely budges. Understanding why UK fuel prices are so persistently high requires looking beyond the barrel and into the heavy taxation structure. The Tax Burden: Duty and VAT The single biggest factor driving up UK pump prices is tax. Unlike many other nations, the UK taxes fuel twice: Fuel Duty is a fixed tax levied per litre of fuel. Despite recent freezes or temporary cuts by the Chancellor, fuel duty remains one of the highest in Europe. VAT (Value Added Tax) is a 20% tax applied to the total price of the fuel, meaning you are paying tax on the fuel duty itself. When you combine Fuel Duty and VAT, well over 50% of the price you pay for every litre of petrol or diesel goes straight to the Treasury. Wholesale Costs and Global Oil While taxes form the baseline, the wholesale cost of refined fuel is the primary driver of price fluctuations. This cost is dictated by the global price of Brent crude oil, traded in US dollars. Because oil is priced in dollars, the strength of the British Pound against the US Dollar plays a massive role. If the Pound weakens, oil becomes more expensive to import, pushing up prices at the pump even if the global oil price remains stable. Retailer Margins Finally, there’s the retailer margin, the profit taken by the supermarket or independent forecourt operator. Recent investigations by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) found that supermarket margins had increased significantly over the past few years, costing drivers millions. Using comparison tools like DailyPetrol is the most direct way to fight back. By choosing the cheapest local option, you force retailers to stay competitive with their margins.

Jeremy Corbyn, in his own words, on how he was targeted when he was leader of the opposition. The persecution of Jeremy Corbyn The campaign to oust Jeremy Corbyn from the UK Labour Party was accompanied by a purge of his supporters—what does this say about the capacity to change the system from within? Yes, that’s right, there were changes to the Labour Party’s rules in 2015. The Labour Party was previously quite undemocratic, but the rule changes made it more democratic. It made it easier for anyone really to vote in parties internal elections. Wasn’t quite as open as the Democratic and Republican primaries in the US where anyone can essentially register to vote as a Democrat or a Republican and then vote in the primaries. But it made it easier. It meant that not only were there Labour Party members could vote in the elections, but also anyone who was, you just had to pay three pounds basically to become a registered supporter of the Labour Party. It just made it a lot easier and it gave the members a lot more say. The percentage of the electoral college as it were within the Labour Party that went towards members and supporters as opposed to the MPs who would choose the leader, was increased. It meant that the left wing candidate won, which had never happened before. We should be clear that the Labour Party under Tony Blair transformed itself into a neoliberal version. Much like Clinton did to the Democratic Party. Labour, which traditionally had been a political bulwark for the working class, no longer was. It was a very different party from what it was at its inception. Asa Winstanley: Yeah, it was ostensibly still a socialist party on paper. But in reality it was the party of Tony Blair, which meant it was the party of privatization. It was the party of war. I first got my political education during the early ’90s after the 911 attacks and the invasion of Afghanistan being involved in the anti-war movement. To me at that time and to so many other people, the Labour Party was the war party. It was the party that was helping George W. Bush to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. Jeremy Corbyn becoming the leader of the Labour Party, was the last possible thing you could imagine. Because he was in the Labour Party, he was a Labour MP at that time. But he was on the back benches. He was basically rebelling against his party leader. He was voting against the Iraq war. He was voting against privatization. He was voting against dismantling of the welfare state and things like that. He would be on our demonstrations, he’d be leading our demonstrations. He’d be doing the speeches against the Iraq war and crucially, he was part of the Palestine solidarity movement as well.

Claire Perry on how the Net Zero 2050 target was wrong, and how we need to adapt now to changing circumstances. Is Ed Miliband’s push towards net zero heading for trouble? As the government confirms an intermediate target of an 87% cut in greenhouse gases by 2040, doubts about the plan are growing Ed Miliband has signed up to a legal target to cut UK climate-changing emissions by 87 per cent by 2040, prompting the usual slew of stories about heat pumps, electric cars and eating less meat and dairy produce. The energy secretary is promoting the dry announcement of an intermediate target on the way to net zero by the middle of the century by emphasising “energy security, jobs and investment” rather than the aim of minimising climate change. “Families and businesses will continue to reap the benefits of the clean energy transition in the coming decades,” he said, “as Britain steps up action to get off the fossil fuel rollercoaster.” Claire Coutinho, the shadow energy secretary, said that the new emissions target “will make us weaker, poorer and send everyone’s energy bills even higher”. Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform and its energy spokesperson, accused Miliband in the Commons of “inadvertently misleading” parliament about the benefits of the government’s energy policy. What is the government proposing? The government is required by law – the Climate Change Act 2008, introduced by Miliband in the last Labour government and strengthened by the Conservatives under Theresa May – to set out five-year “carbon budgets” to show how the country will reach the target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Miliband has accepted the seventh carbon budget, going up to 2038-42, as proposed by the independent Climate Change Committee. The committee’s reports consistently suggest its targets will require banning gas boilers, banning petrol and diesel cars and dramatic changes in diet – but ministers run a mile from such unpopular ideas and pretend that the targets can be achieved by other, unspecified changes. What happened to the net zero consensus? The casual way parliament legislated for net zero in the dying weeks of Theresa May’s premiership seven years ago ought to be an embarrassment to our democracy. Kemi Badenoch, then a Conservative backbencher, said: “Many of my constituents, especially schoolchildren, will be delighted by this announcement, but others are rightly sceptical about the costs. What steps will the minister take to ensure that the plan will be achievable and affordable?” She didn’t get much of an answer, and the order was passed unopposed, increasing the target set by the Climate Change Act 2008 of cutting greenhouse gas emissions from 80 per cent to 100 per cent – that is, to “net zero” – by 2050. Since then, the doubts have grown. Many of them have been stoked by Nigel Farage’s Reform party and by right-wing Conservatives, which has tended to force Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green supporters of net zero to double down. But Tony Blair broke the conspiracy of silence on the left in April last year, when his institute issued a report warning that “phasing out” fossil fuels in the short term or limiting consumption is a strategy doomed to fail. Monday’s release of documents related to Peter Mandelson revealed that Blair had supporters at the heart of government. Pat McFadden, who was then minister for the Cabinet Office, messaged Lord Mandelson to say “TB content bang on”. How has Ed Miliband fought back? The energy secretary cites studies from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, supported by analysis from the CBI Economics, which reports that the “net zero economy” supports over 1 million jobs in the UK, adding £105bn in gross value added to the UK economy in 2025, “as it continues to thrive as one of the UK’s fastest-growing economic sectors”.

Plenty of oil and gas in North Sea. Can we bring energy prices down now in UK, or is the Iran war, and AI going to collapse the whole system? AI using loads of energy.  North Sea recoverable oil and gas resources rise 31% after last licensing round, new report shows The UK’s remaining proven and probable oil and gas reserves were estimated at 2.9 billion barrels of oil equivalent (Bboe) at the end of 2024, according to the latest Reserves and Resources Report published by the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA). While total reserves declined slightly year-on-year, the report highlights a significant 31% increase in prospective resources, now estimated at 4.6 Bboe, largely due to new opportunities identified under the 33rd Offshore Licensing Round. The UK also holds an estimated 6.2 Bboe in contingent resources, representing discovered but undeveloped petroleum that could be matured through new investment and field development activity. To date, a total of 47.7 Bboe has been produced from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS). In 2024, production totaled 401 MMboe, with two new field development plans adding less than 50 MMboe to reserves. The NSTA noted that limited exploration drilling last year—only four wells, with less than 100 MMboe discovered—underscores the need for continued investment to progress drill-ready prospects and sustain the UK’s offshore production base. The report also reaffirms that the UK’s petroleum mix remains roughly 70% oil and 30% gas. The NSTA said managing remaining reserves efficiently will be critical to maintaining energy security and ensuring value recovery from the mature North Sea basin as the country transitions toward net zero.

Henry Nowak – took picture of Sikh. Sikh history. Guilds had knives. Henry Nowak murder: What we know about how the events unfolded Henry Nowak repeatedly told officers he had been stabbed, but he was handcuffed by police after his killer Vickrum Digwa falsely claimed he had been racially abused. The 18-year-old was just a few months into his first year at university when he was killed on his way home to his accommodation in Southampton on 3 December. Digwa has been jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years for the murder. This is what we know of how the night unfolded, including what we learned from CCTV and bodycam footage, a transcript of the 999 call and the judge’s sentencing remarks. At 20:30 GMT on the night of the murder, Nowak was seen on CCTV entering a lift at his university’s halls of residence wearing a white shirt, tie and quarter-zip fleece while holding a bottle. Footage from inside the pub shows Nowak going down the stairs and passing a group of people in the beer garden. He then made his way back upstairs to head out onto the street. At 23:07, Nowak can be seen making his way back towards his university accommodation. Nowak is then captured on CCTV walking past a group of people on a road lit up by streetlamps. At the end of the footage, he can be seen picking up his pace and jogging down the road. Henry Nowak stands in front of two 18th birthday balloons. He is smiling. Image source, PA During Digwa’s sentencing on Monday, Judge William Mousley KC described, external how Nowak’s journey home took him north along Belmont Road to the junction with St Denys Road – where his killer lived. Judge Mousley said Digwa, 23, was walking south along Belmont Road at the same time, in what “was to be a chance meeting”. Nowak was alone and unarmed, the judge said. He added that the 18-year-old was not drunk, and his blood alcohol level was found to be below the drink-drive limit. Digwa, who is Sikh, was carrying a knife in a sheath on his belt which Nowak then began filming on his phone, the judge said. Judge Mousley commented that it is a strict requirement of the Sikh faith to carry a knife, called a kirpan, at all times. The judge also said Digwa was carrying a second, larger dagger in a sheath – which is also a part of his tradition as a member of the Nihang order of Sikhs. Wearing the second knife is not a strict requirement, he added. Mousley KC said that Nowak asked Digwa if he was a “bad man”, likely to have been prompted by him noticing the dagger. The judge said Digwa told Nowak he was “a bad man” and took the student’s phone. The “exact events which immediately followed” were only witnessed by the two men, the judge noted. But in his sentencing remarks, he explained: “it would not be unreasonable to conclude that Henry would have wanted his phone back, believing it had been stolen from him or that he had been robbed.” The judge said that in the ensuing altercation Digwa drew the dagger from its sheath and deliberately stabbed the defenceless student in the chest. He added that Digwa stabbed Nowak four times including twice in the upper leg and that “one or more of the stab wounds must have had an immediate effect as Henry was never able to put up his hands to defend himself from further serious injury”. The judge explained that footage filmed by Digwa showed Nowak “desperately trying to get away” by scaling a fence and getting onto a communal bin before landing on a car in front of the next-door property. Digwa “continued to make films of Henry suffering, ignoring much of his desperation at having been stabbed”, the judge added.

Jacob Rees Mogg, who supports Israel who Peter Mandelson is still working for,  on the new Mandelson releases, and WhatsApp messages being deleted. Government by WhatsApp Jacob Rees-Mogg The recent release of more files relating to Peter Mandelson’s appointment as the UK’s ambassador to the US tell us two things. They tell us about Mandelson himself, but not much that we did not already know. But more importantly, they reveal how government decisions are being made, and this should concern us all.

Jones added: “I also like MoD but think that’s unlikely.”… Darren Jones – his WhatsApp messages weren’t deleted. Jones praised Mandelson for ‘great job’ after sacking, and looked to him for promotion in the cabinet. Senior minister Darren Jones told Peter Mandelson he had done a “great job” after the peer was fired as the UK’s ambassador to the US, it has emerged. The previously unpublished messages between the pair show Jones told the Labour grandee he was “so sorry” on the day he was sacked. The exchanges, published by the Spectator, external, were not among dozens of pages of WhatsApps published by the government earlier in the week in the latest batch of papers about the appointment. Jones had denied sending the peer a “warm message” on the day he was sacked, in an interview with the BBC a few weeks ago. Lord Mandelson was appointed to the Washington role in late 2024 but sacked the following autumn, after further details of his previous friendship with late paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light. On the day Sir Keir Starmer dismissed Lord Mandelson, Jones wrote: “You’ve been doing such a great job, and you worked wonders with Trump. I’m so sorry about today.” In a BBC interview in April, Jones had denied reports he had sent a “warm message” to the peer after his departure. Speaking to Laura Kuenssberg, he said the peer had got in touch with him on the day of his sacking to ask “what was going on in Downing Street”. “I replied along the lines of, I don’t know what’s happening, I’m not in the room, I’m sorry it all seems so difficult,” he said. “I wouldn’t say it was warm and I didn’t know what was taking place. I just felt that it was difficult at the time for everybody involved.” A source close to the minister said he did not have access to the messages at the time of the interview, and had been recalling a wider exchange on the day, rather than a single message. ‘I like MoD’ The newly-unearthed message also show Lord Mandelson criticised the government’s plans for growth, telling Jones the plans were in the hands of Chancellor Rachel Reeves, then-deputy prime minister Angela Rayner, and then-business secretary Jonathan Reynolds. Jones, who is now chief secretary to the prime minister but at that point was Reeves’ deputy at the Treasury, replied: “It doesn’t fill you with confidence.” In another exchange about Reynolds’ special advisers and industrial policy advisers, Jones said: “I lost faith in his spads when, on a call about Port Talbot, they repeatedly took a different position to us in HMT [the Treasury] ‘because that’s what the unions want’.” Jones also sought Lord Mandelson’s advice on promotion during last year’s Cabinet reshuffle, sparked by Rayner’s resignation as deputy prime minister and housing secretary over a tax row about unpaid stamp duty. Talking about his ambitions, Jones said his first preference was a role in the Department for Business and Trade, then headed by Reynolds but now led by Peter Kyle. That was followed by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, then led by Kyle and now by Liz Kendall, or the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, led by Ed Miliband both before and after the reshuffle. Jones added: “I also like MoD but think that’s unlikely.”…

Piers Morgan – does Kemi Badenoch support Israel? Are you comfortable fully aligning yourself to an Israeli government that has people like Ben Gavir and Smodriidge who to put it bluntly I view as psychopaths? Chapter 31: Piers asks Kemi Badenoch about aligning herself with the Israeli government So I am aligning myself with Jewish people in our country. I don’t align with a particular Yeah. Well well yes but where did you Well if you were prime minister of this country you would have to make public statements about the Israeli government given the way that certain members of that government behave now and what we see with our own eyes. uh would you be comfortable fully supporting that government? So let’s remember uh Israel is an ally of the UK there will be all sorts of people who will be in any foreign government uh is Israel or elsewhere that I might not be comfortable with might dislike their views but when I was trade secretary I saw how Israeli intelligence helped protect British citizens and this country. uh they are fighting a lot of battles which are really fights for western values and I think that when you look at what happened on October 7th the massacre that happened really horrific stuff which I even find uncomfortable thinking about knowing what I’ve read about what I saw that I understand why they are in a fight for for their survival uh if there are specific do you feel comfortable about the scale of the response in say Gaza and now in Lebanon are you are you comfortable about that so I know that mistakes have been made, but I can also see that Israel takes uh actually quite a lot of care people. Um it’s so I disagree when people call it a genocide. It’s a war. Uh all death, you know, is something which I think should be avoided. I think Israel actually takes care to try and target the specific people. Uh but they’re killing a lot of civilians in the process because Hamas uses the civilians as human. Is that a good enough excuse eventually if it looks like eventually we hear from Bengavir and Smodrich what they really want to do is kick all the Palestinians out of Gaza? I don’t I don’t know him and I don’t know what he said. So I can’t comment on that. I do think it is wrong the Hamas uses innocent civilians uh as human shields. That is what has caused a lot of the uh the scale of the violence. You look at what they did with Hezbollah and the pages. You look at uh the very precise targeting in Iran. I believe uh the Israeli government when they say they do everything they can to minimize human life. Hamas does not do that and even Palestinians will say that Hamas is the biggest oppressor of Palestinian people. Uh getting rid of Hamas I think is important. It is a terrorist group. Uh that’s the issue I think with um the the guest on your show. Um I’m sorry I’ve forgotten his name. He has said that prefers Yeah. He has said that he prefers Hamas to Israel. Hamas is a terrorist group. He’s No, he’s always condemned Hamas to me. But um um I was told that he had said that and I just don’t want people who support terrorist groups coming to our country. Yeah, he’s not a Hamas supporter. That’s that would be a mischaracterization.

Trump argument with Netanyahu. Trump wants Netanyahu to stop attacking Lebanon. Trump may run for President of Israel. Trump cursed at Netanyahu in call over Lebanon escalation, sources say Trump accused Netanyahu of being ungrateful, sources said. President Donald Trump cursed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a roughly 15-minute phone call on Monday, multiple sources familiar with the call told ABC News, with the president angered by Israel’s escalation in Lebanon and its potential to imperil the administration’s ongoing negotiations with Iran. Trump accused Netanyahu of being ungrateful and called him “crazy,” sources familiar with the call said. At one point during the tense call, Trump asked Netanyahu, “What the f— are you doing?” Axios first reported on the expletive-filled call. News emerged on Monday that Iran was threatening to call off talks over Israeli conduct in Lebanon — where the Israel Defense Forces are engaged with the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.

Genocide. 2000 potential war criminal IDF Soldiers are in the UK, calls for them to be tracked by UK Intelligence services. Polanski and Corbyn join calls for Britons who served in Israeli army to be tracked Around 2,000 British-Israeli dual nationals have served in the Israeli military during its genocide in Gaza Green Party leader Zack Polanski and Your Party leader Jeremy Corbyn have joined calls for the British government to investigate British citizens who have served in the Israeli military. Polanski signed an open letter organised by Declassified UK and the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper urging them to “track the movements of Brits who have served in the IDF” and “subject them to secondary screening where necessary at ports of entry”. The letter called for “robust war crimes investigations in line with domestic and international law”. Around 2,000 British-Israeli dual nationals have served in the Israeli military during Israel’s war on Gaza, which a UN commission of inquiry found was a genocide last year. Israeli forces have killed nearly 73,000 Palestinians since the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023 which killed 1,200 people, with a further 170,000 wounded. Thousands more in Gaza remain missing and are presumed dead beneath the rubble. The letter says: “We, the undersigned, are politicians, lawyers, campaigners, human rights defenders, journalists, and other professionals who believe the public interest is best served by monitoring the entry of British-Israeli dual national citizens into the UK and investigating potential links to war crimes, in cases where they have served in the IDF.” Israel seeks to recruit ultranationalists for police unit at Al-Aqsa Mosque It adds: “Individuals who have returned from fighting in Gaza may now be living alongside us and working in public institutions such as hospitals, the police, and schools. Nobody wants to live next to a potential war criminal – not least members of the Palestinian community in the UK who have family or friends who have been subjected to war crimes.” In April London’s Metropolitan Police announced it would not investigate 10 British nationals accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity while fighting with the Israeli military in Gaza. This came after the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) and the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC) filed a 240-page dossier to the Met’s War Crimes Team in April last year…

Russia. Jeffries Sachs letter. Jeffrey Sachs: Germany Is Leading Europe Toward World War III Glenn Diesen Prof. Jeffrey Sachs discusses his open letter to Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Recorded On May 31, 2026.

Chancellor Merz, more than any other European leader, the question of whether Europe descends into general war, or returns to negotiation, and to economic sanity, rests with you. The hour is very late. Yesterday’s formal message from Moscow to Washington says so explicitly. Please open a dialogue with President Putin. Please send your foreign minister to Moscow or invite Russia’s Foreign Minister to Berlin. Please reopen the OSCE channels that Germany has allowed to atrophy. Please tell Kyiv to cease its strikes on civilian targets. Most importantly, please tell the German public the truth: that a negotiated peace based on Ukrainian neutrality is the realistic path out of catastrophe, and that restoring a normal economic relationship with Russia is the realistic path out of Germany’s industrial decline. The terms of an acceptable agreement that Germany could propose are clear. The fighting would stop on an armistice line. All sides would renounce any future resort to violence on the question of borders. Ukraine would restore its neutrality, and NATO would permanently renounce further eastward enlargement. Europe and Russia would restore economic relations and would stop the warmongering. The OSCE would once again become the central forum for European security, with the fundamental precept that European security is indivisible, not based on military blocs dividing Europe. Alongside this peace, Germany would redirect its national resources toward the digital, AI, semiconductor, and energy investments that Germany’s economic future demands. History will record what you do in the weeks ahead, and what you fail to do. So will the German public. So will the peoples of Russia, Ukraine, and Europe generally. It’s time for diplomacy, Mr. Chancellor. The choice is yours to make.

Oliver Tickell on human ecology, UK responsibility for Ukraine war UK state being captured by US and Israel – 1000 drones, 11 killed. If Putin is trying to inflict mass murder on Ukrainian civilians he’s making a remarkably bad job of it. Ukraine could teach him some lessons in mass murder – one drone twenty + schoolchildren killed in one strike on Lugansk ! And Israel !! The truth is that Russia is trying very hard to avoid civilian deaths, striking military / military infrastructure targets. Increasingly these are located in cities. For example drone guidance farms, military command posts and intelligence offices in apartment buildings, arms factories on industrial estates and shopping centres.   UK pressaganda telling the precise reverse of the truth as usual.

Al Aqsa Mosque – Peter Oborne. Jordan faces an existential choice over the defence of Al-Aqsa | Peter Oborne | MEE Middle East Eye – Peter Oborne, associate editor of Middle East Eye, argues that if Abdullah II goes to war to protect the holy site, Jordan may find it has more allies than US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expect. Middle East Eye reported last week that the US and Israel are conspiring to strip the Jordanian royal family of its historic custodianship of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The plan, reportedly being pushed by Jared Kushner and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, would also give Israel a role in approving the content of Friday sermons. By law, the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque is King Abdullah II of Jordan. Oborne concludes: “As Israel and the US ponder an illegal smash-and-grab raid on the third holiest site in Islam, Abdullah thus faces an existential choice: give in to Trump and Netanyahu, or fight back and risk his life and his throne.”  Jordan cannot be stripped of Al-Aqsa custodianship  – Tampering with the Hashemite status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites would put the region and the world on a collision course

NOT The BCfm Politics Show CANCELLED and attempts to intimidate us

July 2024 – Tony, Dave and Martin’s NOT The BCfm Politics show was CANCELLED/EVICTED in a no fault, no notice, no appeal, eviction by The People’s Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) arts centre – An email from Chloe Slater and Keith Cowling explained that: ‘Transphobic’ leaflets had been left in the building by a recent guest (who denied it) making Transsexual users of the building feel ‘offended’ and ‘unsafe’. To quote: ‘Please let us know when you or Dave would like to come and retrieve your equipment and drop off your keys. Kind regards’ PRSC Directors (Keith Cowling, chair) PRSC / Stokes Croft China 17-35 Jamaica St Bristol BS2 8JP. Chloe Slater (formerly Jez and self-defined as ‘she’) also made it difficult for us to retrieve the last of our equipment by inferring we couldn’t be trusted, we were made to wait outside their building for over 30 minutes to return their mixing desk in December 2024.

March 2020 – BCfm’s weekly Politics Show presented by Tony Gosling with Irish Republican Labour activist Martin Summers was forced off FM, now online only by station manager Pat Hart. He decided the show should be ‘rested, due to the pandemic’ on 24 March 2020 and then refused to communicate at all when we requested to do the show remotely. Bristol Community FM (BCfm) charity ‘CEO’ Patrick Hart is a longtime personal friend of Bristol’s all-powerful right-wing ‘Labour’ mayor Marvin Rees. Now on Internet only NOT The BCfm Politics Show is available 17:00-c. 21:00 live on Fridays. Pat Hart replaced us with an inane student show repeating MSM stories called The Bristol Agenda. February 2019 – Ofcom complaint result: UKLFI exposed as creation of Israeli foreign ministryBristol Post article: BCfm cleared after being reported to Ofcom for anti-semitic conspiracy theories – It could have resulted in BCfm radio station being shut down if the complaint was upheld Tony Gosling reported to Ofcom by UK Lawyers for Israel after being accused of anti-semitism A Bristol radio station, which had one of its programmes reported for anti-semitism and racism has been cleared by Ofcom. The radio regulatory body received a complaint from “UK Lawyers for Israel’ over a show on BCfm radio, hosted by investigative journalist Tony Gosling. The weekly politics show, on the popular community radio station based in Easton, was reported for several allegations on a show which aired on November 23. Tony Gosling, who was a former BBC journalist between 1989 and 1993, has been producing and presenting ‘The Tony Gosling Politics’ show every week on BCFM radio for 11 years. They have released a statement which reads: “Whilst we are supportive of all our volunteer presenters, The Tony Gosling Politics Show only represents approximately ten percent of our political output content wise, and less than two per cent of our entire weekly output.” Mr Gosling’s programme looks at local politics and he interviews a range of councillors and MPs in the city. The show is also perhaps more well known for its alternative look at international politics, and he has a cult following online from across the world. Mr Gosling has made regular appearances on national media including the politics show with Andrew Neil on BBC One, and international channels such as Russia Today, Channel1 Russia, NTV, and recently for both Turkish and Lebanon TV.

November 2012 – Tony gets death threats on the phone from the Jewish Defence League – ‘you’re a dead man walking’ – a man calls him and Tony records the call. Audio of UK Jewish Defence League (JDL) death threat against British journalist Tony Gosling (2012) – Avon and Somerset police Special Branch investigate, trace the caller, and after six months report to Tony that the individual has been served a caution that they will proceed with a prosecution for harassment under the 1861 offences against the person act. Seems pretty clear this death threat was issued alongside the lies, copied below, which were published on their blog by London based UK JDL in November 2012.  Firstly Tony Gosling is not a ‘homophobe’. That accusation was first made in an article published by the ‘Harry’s Place’ blog, penned by Zionist David Toube and propelled by him anonymously into Private Eye in 2008. It refers to Gosling’s criticism of senior teachers at Bannerman Road Primary school in Bristol who used homosexual early learning picture books against the express wishes of the parent governors. His criticism was about the deception by teaching staff not because of the homosexual content of the books. Secondly, if you follow the JDL link you’ll find what Tony Gosling actually says about the ‘Protocols Of The Learned Elders Of Zion’ says “…I don’t think there is much doubt that the Protocols are fake…” Thirdly he is not a member of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and has never been to any of their meetings.

Autumn 2014 – Tony’s documentary production and distribution business shut down by its bank. Our thriving Co-op business bank account ordered closed for undisclosed reasons. Tony Gosling and Ben Edwards founded i-Contact Video Network to distribute documentaries on VHS video and DVD and to make their own documentaries as well as attend news events and sell video footage to TV news channels. Amongst the films we distributed were Operation Solstice, Coconut Revolution, Mark Purdey and Organophosphates, McLibel, 9/11 In Plane Site, Ludicrous Diversion and The Battle of Trafalgar. These, plus books, and even a board game about drug dealing ‘Dollars and Dibble’, were all available via mail order and we supplied libraries around the world too. The bank had clearly been ordered to investigate us for money laundering, although they never admitted it. All the questions they asked Ben and I were about proving our identity through passports etc.. When we did, yet more letters kept arriving demanding more proofs, birth certificates etc. and eventually when one of us missed supplying the required information, within a week or so of being asked, the account was summarily closed and we got a cheque made out to one of us with the few hundred pounds that was in the business bank account. Since neither of us could get a business bank account up and running for at least a few months and the bank account meant nobody could any longer use the website, we made the reluctant decision to shut it down. Thus was a thriving business killed off by the Co_operative bank. Having said that, co-op were not quite the worst. We did apply to open an account at Bristol’s ‘ethical’ Triodos bank, who proceeded to string us along for several months and then said our business was too risky for them to provide an account!

Part One – Local and National News Review

Phil Pope, ex member of Your Party, joins Tony and Martin. Your Party isn’t going that well, with arguments between Jeremy Corbyn and Zara Sultana. How systems are changed. Workers Party problems. How does democracy work? Piers Corbyn was blocked from standing for the CEC – and everything started to fall apart – Now all eyes turned towards the Conference at the end of November. Conference delegates were selected by sortition. In essence this meant delegates were randomly selected and accountable to no-one. They had no branches to report back to, because ‘the centre’ were refusing to pass out membership data or to set up formal branches. Sortition had a veneer of participatory democracy about it, but in reality it was miles away from the democratic, delegate-based traditions of the working-class movement. And ironically, despite its claims, it left control firmly in the hands of an unelected, unaccountable ‘Officers’ group’. On the eve of conference Corbyn’s team expelled members of the SWP and barred two Counterfire members from conference, the Counterfire members (Michael Lavalette and John Rees) being initially barred for daring to suggest the internal factionalisation needed to stop and that a collective leadership, focused on unity should be established. Despite these shenanigans the conference voted to set up branches, for collective leadership, (probably because members were fed up of the leadership clashes) and for greater democracy within YP. The conference offered a point in which both sides could have pulled together. Instead both dug in for the CEC elections that would take place in January and February. Two factions became formalised over late December and early January: the Grassroots Left (or the Zarah faction) and The Many (or the Jeremy faction). The election campaign was tortuous. Mudslinging was common. Factionalism and in-fighting became normalised. National hustings were held after the election started. Email lists were used by both factions – something not available to ‘non slaters’. It wasn’t until 10 days into the election that candidates were informed of the election system being used (and it was the most conservative version of the STV that was decided upon, one that would clearly favour The Many). Counterfire’s position in the elections was that effectively we were in the last chance saloon! Our vision was for a united, radical, insurgent party of the whole left and a party that was rooted in our social movements, our communities and our trade unions. In the CEC ‘public office holders’ section our candidate (Michael Lavalette) got 10 % of the vote indicating that there was an appetite for unity and a different approach. But in a faction fight there is always a distinct possibility that those not on the factions get marginalised! In the CEC elections around 25,000 people voted, less than half the claimed membership. The outcome of the CEC elections saw The Many win the most seats. But Grassroots Left got a significant minority. Would they try to work together to heal the divisions, or would the dominant faction steamroller over the defeated faction? In the first few meetings of the CEC the notes released by delegates suggest the CEC has little space for debate and that voting, so far, is on strict factional lines. The establishment of an officers’ group (all of whom are from The Many faction) and the appointment of (unnamed) national paid officers, suggests that decision making will be tightly controlled and centralised. The conference decisions on ‘collective leadership’, setting up branches, and dual membership have effectively been honoured in the breach.

Clive Lewis, Labour Party, on problems with privatised water. SE Water in Kent – water cut off during heat wave. How privatised systems and conglomerates work. Clive Lewis MP Selling off reservoirs, failing to invest, polluting our water – these aren’t just acts of negligence. They undermine our national water security. In an existential crisis we might call that what it is: sabotage. In a time of national peril, sabotage has another name: treason.

Frank Wright @FrankWrighter, a campaigner for new right wing Restore Party, on how he wants things to change. The World Crisis: An Explanation What is happening, why, and what it means for the future Frank Wright “If you can keep it” | FRANK’S 12 MINUTE ANALYSIS | FRANK’S SUBSTACK | FRANK’S TWITTER | The world crisis sparked by Israel’s war on Iran has begun to hit home. The collision of reality with the narratives supplied by the Trump administration is reshaping global power. The pause in the war has revealed that the shock to the global system may be permanent. Should the war continue, as it most likely will, the crisis will get worse. This report is intended to explain some of the causes and effects of the war. Part One explains how the 20th century has ended and why. It is a 5 minute read. Part Two explains the crisis and what it means for the future. 10 mins+ to read. Part one (Essay): Losing an Argument with Reality Part two: The Why, What, Who, How and What Next of the Crisis Why is this happening? What is happening? Who is in charge? What will happen next? How could things get worse? How could things get better? What will happen if the war resumes? Conclusion: Forever War has ended our Forever Way of Life Part One: Losing an Argument with Reality The State poisoned us with medicine as it does with “news” “The truth does not matter anymore”. Power is always part performance. Military power is threat plus capability. Political power is the power of belief in the promises you make. The US has issued many threats but is incapable of carrying any out apart from the most significant one: the total destruction of Iranian civilisation. Mr Trump has this power but he does not have any other it seems. This is dangerous, as this is precisely the power the Israelis seek to use. Trump’s political (domestic) and military (foreign) decisions are effectively taken from the Israeli playbook, and the culture of the US from the top down has changed accordingly. The promises of security and prosperity, to make America Great Again, cannot be carried out now. Neither can the promised “regime change” in Iran, nor even a military victory in the region. The US has lost its diplomatic and military position in the Middle East, can no longer guarantee the passage of seaborne world trade, and has broken its long standing “alliance” (which was dominance) with Europe and the Anglosphere. To the literally minded Mr Trump has gone bonkers. He has been consumed by sin in fact, which is destructive to a man in every state in life. He has been impelled into the creation of mass destruction by pride, vanity, vainglory, greed and dreams of adulation, and tempted into this by appeals to his appetite for all the above. The war is evil, it is doing evil to the world, and Mr Trump and his America are rightfully despised for what they have said and done to us all. The US has lost the war and cannot admit it as this would be devastating to Americans generally and Trump in particular. This will inevitably be obvious anyway in a matter of time. So far, a performance in the media has contained this impression, which is simply “flooding the zone with shit”, as advised by Steve Bannon a decade ago, and as adopted openly by Netanyahu’s media chief last week….

Frank is a former British Army officer and Catholic contributor to Life Site News. Eli Hazan, the latest director of Netanyahu’s media ‘poison machine’ says: “The truth does not matter any more. The facts do not matter anymore”. | FRANK’S 12 MINUTE ANALYSIS | FRANK’S SUBSTACK | FRANK’S TWITTER | Political power in the US and Israel is following this formula. Its power is in contest with the truth, with the facts, with reality itself. This is vital to understanding the state the world is in, and how we get out of it. Hazan continues: “I fabricate fake news as a response to them” He explained “I wasn’t like this. Only the truth guided me.” So what changed him? “I came to the conclusion that we need to be Trump”. Hazan’s statement is significant beyond Israel, whose stated policy is to “police the planet” through its “eighth front” of war: via media control, censuring critics as antisemitic, and corrupting the picture of reality received by the global public. Israel’s “war on reality” is a global war. Click the image to watch a brief video explaining what this means for you. This shows the true unifying principle of power between the putatively Christian United States and the secular, now religious anti-Christian Zionism which rules Israeli and now American political, military and media culture. It will say anything it must to get what it wants. It is an argument with reality, just as liberal utopianism is an argument with reality. It replaces facts with falsehoods, stultifying the population into compliance with evil. This works until it doesn’t, which is when it can’t anymore, and that is now. First Pope of the Dark Ages after the Fall of Rome, St. Felix III The facts do in fact matter and cannot be contained by lies. This happens when the conditions produced by your actions exceed your power to persuade people they do not inhabit them, when in fact they do so. This is the same crisis faced by the nightmare of the competing faction of Western power, namely “liberal globalism”, and it is why they are both doomed regardless of the outcome of this war. There is a difference between having character and being one. Mr Trump refuses to suffer the truth about himself, his motives, his actions and their effect on the world. This means he will not learn and therefore cannot improve. This is the way all foolish men refuse wisdom. It is likely this crisis finishes him actually as well as figuratively, as he is the hunter become the quarry like Actaeon, who was slain by his own hounds. Silenced by a power he cannot command, to speak the truth is also fatal. There is no way out of the woods for Mr Trump and no escape for the hungry pack which dogs him. This is the meaning of the Furies, unleashed by the inescapable actions of men limited by what and who they are. What made Trump is what unmakes him, his belief in himself and his power to transmit it. This is all he has left, and soon no one will believe in him at all. Not even Mr Trump. Nothing is as it is stated now, from Christianity to the causes and conditions of this terminal crisis. The sacred is profaned, life vulgarised in the defence of a now universal evil with lies. What we are sold is not what we are told, and no one is buying it anymore. The poverty of our mass culture is not only in meaning and in spirit – it is about to get real in the way most men comprehend. It will destroy the right to buy, which is the fundamental right of the political economy which ruled us into this mess. You can summarise Trump as the closing-down salesman of the 20th century. I hate to say I told you so, but here we are. If you would like to know more about how we got here, I wrote a series predicting the predictable disaster of the war. Here is one part…

Huge amounts of energy to run data centres story. London’s 271 data centres are guzzling 69 per cent more power than the capital’s 3.49m homes combined. Britain’s data centres are eating the grid – and we underestimated the damage Data centres are consuming six per cent of all UK electricity UK data centre emissions forecasts have been revised upward 100-fold. London’s server farms already consume more power than all its households combined. So why did it take this long to do the maths? Data centres are consuming six per cent of all UK electricity, while government emissions forecasts have been revised upward by a factor of one hundred. London’s 271 data centres are guzzling 69 per cent more power than the capital’s 3.49m homes combined. Welcome to the week the bill finally arrived. The International Data Center Authority confirmed this week that electricity consumed by data centres has risen 15 per cent worldwide in just two years, as annual global investment in the sector approaches $1 trillion. In the UK and US, consumption has now hit six per cent of national electricity – well above the global average of two per cent, and most crucially, well above the threshold the IDCA identifies as the point at which “significant community and political pushback starts to occur.” We are, in other words, there. The UK’s rewritten emissions forecast Three weeks ago, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) revised its forecast for greenhouse gas emissions from AI data centres. Not by 10 per cent, not by double, but by approximately 100 times. News Updates Stay ahead with our three daily briefings delivering all the key market moves, top business and political stories, and incisive analysis straight to your inbox. Last year, annual emissions were projected at 0.025m tonnes of CO2, and the new figure now sits at least 34m tonnes over the decade to 2035. DSIT attributed the change to “routine review”, but one is tempted to suggest that discovering a 100-fold error in your own projections is rather less routine than the phrase implies. Carbon Brief had been warning for a month that the original figures were fanciful, with its analysis recently exposing that even if gas-fired electricity accounted for just five per cent of data centre supply, emissions would still be more than ten times higher than the government’s top estimate. If expansion reaches the full 20GW of projects that energy regulator Ofgem says have achieved financial commitment, the figure could hit 70 million tonnes, which is roughly Sweden’s entire annual emissions, and nearly 500 times the government’s upper-end projection. Tim Squirrell, head of strategy at Foxglove called the original estimates “nonsense magic beans thinking that you can have massive data centre growth without a corresponding increase in new polluting carbon emissions”. Old technology in charge of running AI Patrick Smith, field chief tech officer at Everpure, pointed out that around 80 per cent of all data is stored on hard disk drives on technology that is roughly 70 years old and emphatically not designed for modern AI workloads. Transitioning UK data centres to flash storage could save an estimated four to five terawatt hours annually and £14–17m per year in energy costs. Karim Abou Zahab at HPE added that AI accounted for just 15 per cent of data centre energy use in 2024. The other 85 per cent came from general compute and legacy systems, including what the IDCA delicately calls “zombie services”, like running apps nobody uses that were simply never switched off. Meanwhile, research published this week by Tokamak Energy found that replacing copper infrastructure with high-temperature superconductors could cut data centre power losses by up to 90 per cent, and reduce copper use by 98 per cent. What comes next? An unchecked AI boom means higher energy bills, more stress on water supplies and a new lifeline for fossil fuels. Global Action Plan found that 84 per cent of proposed UK data centres sit in areas the Environment Agency classifies as water stressed. OpenAI, for its part, put its Stargate UK data centre project on hold this year, citing high energy costs and regulatory uncertainty. Smith argues the solution starts with proper standards, suggesting “terabytes per watt” efficiency metrics as a regulatory requirement, forcing operators to modernise rather than simply expand. “Digital expansion should not be at the expense of homes, hospitals or schools,” he added. “Future growth must be matched with equally ambitious efficiency measures.” That seems a reasonable ask. What is less reasonable is a planning regime that apparently required years of campaigning, a Carbon Brief investigation, and a 100-fold correction to a government document before the question was taken seriously.

BBC QT – Darren Jones MP, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, not Chief Secretary to the Treasury as Tony wrongly described him – what is governments plan for AI? Crisis of capitalism – stock market collapse – war.  Positive and negatives of right wing and shared grievances with left wing. Power of conglomerates. BBC QT – Darren Jones – if AI takes loads of jobs, who’s going to pay taxes? Question Time assembles panel of AI industry stooges for tonight’s special episode 28 May 2026 BBC’s Question Time is at it again — this time, the show has put together a homogeneously pro-AI panel for tonight’s special on the environmentally ruinous technology. Green leader Zack Polanski went so far as to speculate that the entire episode was bought and paid for by the AI lobby. Likewise, journalist Caroline Cadwalladr characterised the show as laundering AI’s image in a similar manner to its performance with Nigel Farage. So, who exactly has Question Time dragged up to face a light grilling from Fiona Bruce at 9pm tonight? The show posted: Joining Fiona on the panel are Darren Jones, Julia Lopez, Mo Gawdat, Laura Gilbert, and Victor Riparbelli Let’s break that down, shall we? Darren Jones is the Labour MP for Bristol North West. Whilst he’s been critical of companies like Royal Mail using AI to monitor employees, he’s also been a champion of the technology, particularly in the form of ChatGPT-style large-language models. Oh, and he dismissed worries about job losses, which we’re already seeing. Julia Lopez is the Tory shadow technology secretary. She’s previously criticised the government for its apparent alignment with an EU act which attempts to regulate AI. Likewise, she’s also criticised Ed Miliband’s environmental protection policies for stifling the growth of AI companies. Noticing a pattern here? Mo Gawdat was once the chief business officer for Google X, the company’s pie-in-the-sky research division. On multiple occasions, he’s called for humanity to hand over control of society to AI, claiming “it may actually become our salvation.” This is a technology currently known for being unable to count fingers, by the way. Laura Gilbert is the senior director for AI and innovation at the Tony Blair Institute. That’s the same Tony Blair Institute, which took over £250m from Trump-buddy Larry Elison, owner of software company Oracle. Last but not least, Victor Riparbelli is co-founder and CEO of SynesthesiaIO. Synesthesia bills itself as “the world’s #1 AI video creation platform”. Question Time — ‘Not one critical voice’ Fab, so our balance here ranges between ‘enthusiastic support, with caveats’ to ‘we should crown AI as king of the world’. Oh, and half of them stand to make a bunch of money from widespread AI adoption, too. Fantastic, no notes – the BBC has outdone itself here. In reaction to the flagrant bias on display, Green leader Zack Polanski called out the Tony Blair Institute’s ties to the AI business: Oracle’s £250m gift to the Tony Blair Institute appears to buy you an entire Question Time episode. Likewise, journalist Caroline Cadwalladr pointed out the similarity to Question Time’s past indiscretions: So you know what @bbcquestiontime did with Farage? They’re now doing it with AI. This ‘expert’ panel on AI is a disgrace: not one critical voice.

Alan Milburn report on UK youth unemployment – the answer is more jobs – but AI is taking them – ignore that Milburn! BBC – graduate young man can’t get a job. China – planned economy works. Milburn on health problems and a life on benefits. Alan Milburn fails to break out of the assumption that work is the answer – in a world when AI is eliminating white collar jobs. Of course, in a country where really lazy, workshy politicians inevitably point the finger at young people, they’re distracting the attention of taxpayers from the real sources of corrupt theft of tax money, like HS2. In a country where politicians genuinely cared for the people (as opposed to being the professional thieves that they currently are) they would be implementing a universal basic income, particularly as corrupt use of AI steals away the current jobs –  But then, who would they blame for the disasters they cause, as their slippery fingers steal into the taxpayer wallet to fund their ‘expenses’? More systems planning needed by government. Universal Basic Income. Small businesses failing. Wealth tax. Hey Milburn : Universal Basic Income. Tax the rich, build social housing, invest in doctors and nursing (we really need nurses) get rid of the stupid university loans that are predatory

Russia labels Ukraine school attack in occupied Luhansk ‘monstrous crime’ Kyiv denies Moscow’s accusation that it hit a student dormitory, killing six people. Putin instructs army to ‘prepare suggestions’ for retaliation. Russia has expressed outrage as it reported that a Ukrainian drone attack killed at least six people in the occupied Luhansk region. The Moscow-installed regional governor, Leonid Pasechnik, reported on Friday that a student dormitory in Starobilsk was hit. The Kremlin, which has killed thousands in Ukraine since launching its full-scale invasion over four years ago, described it as a “monstrous crime”. Russian President Vladimir Putin called it a “terrorist strike”, stressing that the attack was deliberate, and that Ukrainian forces launched “three waves” of strikes at the same location. “At the moment, it is known that six people were killed, 39 were wounded and 15 people are unaccounted for, as the search through the rubble is still ongoing,” Putin said in televised comments, ordering Russia’s army to “prepare suggestions” for a retaliation against Ukraine. Pasechnik earlier said Ukrainian drones hit the five-storey dormitory belonging to Luhansk Pedagogical University during the overnight attack. The building then collapsed to its second-floor. About 86 children and teachers were inside when the drone struck, Russian authorities said. Some people were trapped under the rubble. The victims were aged between 14 and 18. “Rescuers continue to pull out the injured children and bodies of the dead, despite a repeated threat of more UAV attacks,” said Yulia Shapovalova, Al Jazeera’s Moscow correspondent. Luhansk, over which Russia claimed full control in April, is one of four Ukrainian regions occupied or partly occupied by Russian forces.

RAF jet carrying defence secretary has signal jammed near Russian border Defence Secretary John Healey visited Estonia earlier this week An RAF jet with the UK defence secretary on board had its signal jammed as it flew near the Russian border earlier this week. John Healey was travelling back to the UK on Thursday after visiting British soldiers in Estonia when the incident happened, the Times first reported, external. Russia is believed to be behind the attack, which meant pilots had to use a different navigation system as the plane’s GPS was disabled during the three-hour flight. The incident took place a day after it emerged that two Russian warplanes had “repeatedly and dangerously” intercepted an RAF spy plane over the Black Sea last month. It is not known if Healey was purposely targeted, but the newspaper reported that the flight’s path was visible on aircraft tracking websites. The Ministry of Defence has been contacted for comment. During his visit to Estonia, Healey spoke to UK service members taking part in a Nato military exercise near the Russian border. In the separate incident last month, a Russian Su-35 fighter approached a Rivet Joint surveillance aircraft, getting close enough to trigger its emergency systems, disabling its autopilot. And a Su-27 jet also carried out six passes in front of the RAF plane, getting as close as six metres (19ft) from its nose.

Exterminating History: Israeli airstrikes devastate Lebanon’s 3,500 year old City of Tyre –  Peace talks between US and Iran – and bombing started again amidst ceasefire. Israel bombing Lebanon. BBC – Lebanon Minister – why isn’t Hezbollah being disarmed? Video from southern Lebanon shows widespread destruction after Israel repeatedly bombed the city of Tyre. Multiple strikes, including one that hit a residential building with several missiles, targeted densely populated neighbourhoods that had largely been emptied after Israel issued forced displacement orders. Israeli strikes follow displacement order for Lebanese city of Tyre Israeli forces intensify attacks, issue forced displacement orders for more towns and villages, a day after killing dozens. Israel has announced that it has started bombing in areas around Tyre after ordering the forced displacement of one of Lebanon’s largest cities and nearby villages. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Israeli army said it was attacking a Hezbollah headquarters in the Tyre region, without specifying the location. The announcement came about two hours after Israel issued a warning to residents of Tyre and surrounding areas of impending military activity. A map attached to the announcement showed areas residents must leave, including most of the city of Tyre, which sits on the Mediterranean coast close to the border with Israel. The Israeli military said on Wednesday that all areas south of Lebanon’s Zahrani River, which runs roughly 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the Israel-Lebanon border, were considered “combat zones” and urged residents to head north. “In light of the repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by the terrorist organisation Hezbollah, the IDF will act against it with great force,” the military’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on social media. “We advise the residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate to the north of the Zahrani River, as all areas south of the river are considered combat zones.” The warning and subsequent bombing came after the Lebanese army said that one of its soldiers was killed near his post in Bekaa in eastern Lebanon and it ‘had retrieved his body’. Two more people were killed in the town of Deir Amas in the Tyre district, Lebanese media reported. Israeli air strikes also targeted the town of Braiqaa in the south, destroying two homes, the National News Agency reported, and the town of Deir Qanoun en-Nahr, Srifa and Toura as millions of people observed the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. Meanwhile, in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, just beyond the “Yellow Line”, which stretches roughly 10km (6 miles) north of the Lebanon-Israel border, Hezbollah said its fighters “clashed with the enemy forces at point-blank range”. The violence comes a day after Israeli attacks intensified across southern and eastern Lebanon, killing at least 31 people and injuring 40, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said. “Massive Israeli strikes pounded eastern Lebanon, hitting Machgharah in the western Bekaa, and another strike farther north targeting the strategic Qaraoun Dam,” Al Jazeera’s Obaida Hitto reported from Tyre, elaborating on Tuesday’s attacks in eastern Lebanon. “More deadly strikes followed an evacuation order covering Nabatieh city.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late on Tuesday that a large Israeli ground force was pushing deep into southern Lebanon to seize areas and to “fortify” what he described as a “security zone” in the neighbouring country. Over a period of about 10 hours on Tuesday, the Israeli military also issued forced displacement orders for dozens of Lebanese towns and villages in the south and east as well as the entire city of Nabatieh. The orders to flee in advance of Israeli attacks also warned residents of the targeted areas to “move north of the Zahrani River”, which is located about 40km (25 miles) from Lebanon’s border with Israel.

Putin says Ukraine war nearly over and complains about media coverage. Journalism as mass deception. Reporting on Russia unfair – Russian school kids attacked so Russia large attack on Kiev. Russia Has Means to Destroy Anyone Targeting Its Air Defense Bases – Putin Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia has all the means to destroy anyone who attempts to destroy its air defense bases. “Russia has all the means to flatten anyone who tries to do this,” Putin told journalists during a press briefing following his visit to Kazakhstan, commenting on the Lithuanian statement. Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said that the NATO Baltic states have the capability, if necessary, to level Russian air defense bases in the Kaliningrad region. Ukraine Conflict Nearing Its End, Media Must Face the Truth Putin said that the Ukraine conflict is nearing its end based on battlefield realities. He sharply criticized European media for failing to report the Starobelsk incident in LPR, calling it “not journalism, but mass deception.” Putin: Ukraine conflict nearing its end, media must face the truth President Putin said his comment about the conflict nearing its end is based on battlefield realities. Putin called the coverage of the Ukrainian airstrike on Starobelsk in European media disgraceful and a nightmare, adding that journalists should be ashamed of themselves for silencing the attack on the Lugansk People’s Republic. Putin called western media “means of mass deception.” Russian troops are advancing in all directions in the special military operation zone, Putin said. “Our troops are advancing in all directions, well, you see it. Every single day,” Putin told reporters. Russia needs to strengthen its air defense system, and this is being done, the president added. “The situation on the battlefield is developing in such a way that it gives us the right to say that the situation is nearing its conclusion,” Putin said, adding that he is saying this based on the analysis of the situation on the battlefield. Europe Has Lost by Rejecting Russian Energy Vladimir Putin said that Europe, including Germany, has suffered from its decision to reject Russian energy supplies. “We built and began constructing the Nord Stream pipelines. And was that bad for the German state, for the German economy? Now that they have refused our energy, has it gotten any better? They try to get oil from Kazakhstan, but the transit still goes through us,” Putin told journalists….

Society of Editors – local press has no access to political leaders. Local government at behest of Central government for money. Society issues warning over access to local councils The Society of Editors has warned that some local journalists are struggling to get access to elected councillors raising concerns over accountability. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Media Show on Wednesday 27 May, Dawn Alford, Chief Executive of the Society said that while some councils continue to maintain a good relationship with local journalists, some local reporters are facing barriers to access in both small and extreme ways. She said: “We are being told that councillors are being told not to talk to journalists or they are being pushed through the press office and, in some circumstances, those replies are being delayed or completely ignored. “What that means, generally, is that scrutiny is not happening. Scrutiny is part of democracy and that is not existing in certain areas.” A large part of the problem appeared to be “message control”, Alford said, with local councils increasingly wanting to control the narrative centrally at the expense of a relationship between local councillors, local reporters and their local community. She added: “Councillors should absolutely expect that part of their job is to talk to the media but the problem appears to be about message control. Message control is coming more centrally and this is across all parties. That ignores individuals who have been voted for by a very small community who expect answers and expect scrutiny. Those voters look to their local press for trusted news and that is still a strong point. “When you stand for an election you are asking the voters to trust you and you are due to be scrutinised across the entire tenure of sitting on the council. It is a privilege and people trust you and have voted for you so you absolutely should expect to be asked questions.” The discussion on BBC Radio 4’s Media Show can be listened to here.

Origin of the newspaper or broadcast ‘Editor’: In Roman times, at the games, an editor was an overseer or “referee” of the gladiator fights. Their job included giving talks at the opening and closing of the games, announcing who was fighting and to choose if a defeated gladiator was to live or die. Usually the role was held by a magistrate, one of the government officers of the Roman Republic. At times lanistas, such as Lentulus Batiatus would play the role, though usually due to the lack of a magistrate being present. Editors also existed for smaller fights, although the term editor would be used very lightly. Usually the role was held by a magistrate, one of the government officers of the Roman republic. At times lanistas, such as Batiatus or Vettius would play the role, though usually due to the lack of a magistrate being present. Editors also existed for smaller fights, although the term editor would be used very lightly. Numerius, for his 15th birthday, has Spartacus and Varro demonstrate a fight in Batiatus’ villa. Although originally intended to be an exhibition match, when asked to pass judgement on the fallen warrior, he extends his arm and shows his thumb down, meaning that Varro was to die. Notable Editors Titus Calavius Sextus Batiatus Gladiator Fighting Styles Samnite The Samnite was an early class of gladiator, quite popular during the period of the Roman Republic. Eventually, other Gladiator types joined the roster, such as the Gaul-inspired Murmillo and the Thracian-inspired Thraex. Around this time of Emperor Augustus, the Samnite Gladiator fell out of favour, probably because insulting the Samnites was no longer seen as acceptable behaviour, and the Samnite was thus replaced by similarly armed Gladiators, including the Hoplomachus and the Secutor. Cestus The cestus was a fist-fighter or boxer gladiator who wore the cestus, a brutal forerunner of the boxing glove. Rudiarius The Rudiarius was a gladiator who had earned his freedom received a wooden sword (a rudis) or perhaps a wooden rod (a rudem, which was used as a practice staff/sword). If he chose to remain a gladiator, he was called a rudiarius. These were very popular with the public as they were experienced. Not all rudiarii continued to fight; there was a hierarchy of rudiarii that included trainers, helpers, referees, and fighters. Scissor The scissor (plural scissores) used a special short sword with two blades that looked like a pair of open scissors without a hinge. It is speculated that they attempted to trap their opponents’ weapons between the twin blades in order to disarm them. others have speculated that this type of gladiator fought using a weapon consisting of a hardened steel tube that encased the gladiator’s entire forearm, with the hand end capped off and a semicircular blade attached to it. Laquearius Laquearius is a gladiator style whose primary tactic was to “lasso” their opponent, and then close in for the kill. It is possible that they were meant to mirror the Sagartians. The Laquearius appears late in Roman gladiator history, and it is not entirely clear if they were a fully-fledged fighting class of gladiator such as the Retiarius or Hoplomachus, or a paeginaerius style, non-lethal “clown act” between matches. Essedarius An Essedarius was a type of gladiator in Ancient Rome who fought from a chariot. There may have been just one man in the chariot, or two, a driver and a fighter. Bestiarius Bestiarii (singular bestiarius) were those who went into combat with beasts, or were exposed to them. It is conventional to distinguish two categories of bestiarii: the first were those condemned to death via the beasts (damnatio ad bestias) and the second were those who faced them voluntarily, for pay or glory (venatio). The latter were gladiators; to their contemporaries, however, the term gladiator referred specifically to one who fought other men. The contemporary term for those who made a career out of participating in arena “hunts” was venatores. Paegniarius The paegniarius was a gladiator who did not engage in serious combat with lethal weapons, but was rather an entertainer who performed “burlesque duels” during breaks. He had neither a helmet nor a shield, but wore protective wrappings on his lower legs and head. Provocator Provocatores have been shown wearing a loincloth, a belt, a long greave on the left leg, a manica on the lower right arm, and a visored helmet without brim or crest, but with a feather on each side. They were the only gladiators protected by a breastplate (cardiophylax) which is usually rectangular, later often crescent-shaped. They fought with a tall, rectangular shield and the gladius. They were paired only against other provocatores.

GCHQ puts AI in charge of stopping cyber attacks Technology is advancing so fast machines are better placed to respond to hacking threats than humans, says spy chief GCHQ will employ AI to help stop cyber attacks, the head of the intelligence agency has revealed… Anne Keast-Butler revealed on Wednesday that experts had created a “blueprint” for a new digital shield for the country that would “hardwire cutting-edge agentic AI into machine-speed cyber defence”. It is understood the initiative would put AI in charge of stopping cyber attacks, automating defences used by government, critical national infrastructure and major businesses. The technology is advancing so quickly that AI is better placed to respond to hacking threats than humans. Businesses would have to opt in to the service, which could be offered to airlines, telecoms companies, or other economically significant organisations. The National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ, said earlier this year that it was responding to four “nationally significant” cyber incidents each week, taking a major toll on the British economy. A cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover is believed to have been the most economically damaging in British history, with an estimated cost of £1.9bn. Reducing risk of attack A shift to a model where AI forms the first line of a so-called “cyber shield”, with AI “agents” from government communicating directly with AI “agents” in the private sector, would hopefully reduce the risk of a significant attack. While the UK is the first to adopt this approach, it is hoped there could be uptake from other members of the Five Eyes alliance – Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia. Ms Keast-Butler warned that hostile states were already unleashing technological developments to further their own ends.

Martyn Tucker, aka Doctor Love, joins Tony. Green issues, Green Party. Modern Paganism and Druidry can be deeply intertwined with environmentalism and the Green party, viewing the Earth as sacred rather than just a resource. This spiritual connection often translates into ecological stewardship. Groups range from those doing localized sustainable advocacy to “Eco-Pagans” who participate in radical, direct-action protests to protect nature.Modern Paganism & DruidryModern Pagans and Druids practice earth-based spiritualities that honour the interconnectedness of all life. Unlike traditional monotheistic faiths that often separate humanity from the wilderness, Pagans and Druids consider the natural world—forests, rivers, and wildlife—to be imbued with divine spirit. For many, defending the environment isn’t just political; it is “sacred activism” and a core spiritual duty. Organizations like the Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids and the Pagan Earth Alliance encourage practitioners to engage in conservation efforts, green living, and sustainable practices. The Dongas Tribe & 1990s Eco-Protests: The most famous intersection of Paganism and radical environmentalism in the UK occurred during the 1990s road protest movement. The “Tribe”: The Dongas were a nomadic collective of eco-warriors, New Age travelers, Pagans, and Druids who famously occupied sacred and ancient woodlands (such as Oxleas Wood) to block the construction of the M3 and other major highways in the UK. They lived in “benders” (traditional dome-like shelters built from bent saplings and tarpaulins) and practiced low-impact, communal living.Eco-Magical Action: The Dongas combined physical protest with earth-based magic. They performed rituals—sometimes referred to as “raising the dragon”—to protect threatened landscapes, linking folklore to direct political action.Legacy: The Dongas were instrumental in shifting the UK’s environmental movement, proving that radical, direct action could halt damaging infrastructure and draw national attention to habitat destruction.

Jude English, former Green Councillor, joins Tony and Martin. She was chucked out of Green Party for wanting women only spaces, and then reinstated, after legal issues arose. Who are Greens in Exile? Greens in Exile are a group of long-serving and loyal Green Party of England and Wales members who have been forced out of the party through suspension, expulsion or resignation for supporting: Good governance is what all public institutions aim for in terms of how they conduct their affairs and look after their members. For a political party like the Green Party, the aim is to have a democratic process for making decisions, free of abuse and corruption, and in line with social conventions and the rule of law. The Party’s constitution is over 40-years old and was agreed when the Party had fewer than 10,000 members [and before the internet revolutionised how we communicate]. Conference was a meeting of members, many of whom knew each other in what was a relatively small social group. Current governance model Governance in the Green Party is modelled on consensus decision-making and on the separation of powers. Its outdated processes are being abused by an ideologically-driven minority, but this is how it works according to the constitution: The Green Party Regional Council (GPRC) is responsible for the health and wellbeing of the party, for the development of the political strategy and final approval of the manifesto, and for discipline in extremis only (supposedly). Green Party Executive (GPEX) is the administrative body responsible for the financial health of the party and delivery of the strategy. Disciplinary Committee (DC) is responsible for dealing with complaints which have not been successfully dealt with at regional or local party level. Standing Orders Committee (SOC), has the power to set the conference agenda and has increasingly been called upon to make rulings throughout the year that interpret the party’s constitution. Democratic deficit According to the constitution, conference is the supreme forum of the party where all principal policies are agreed, yet fewer than 2% of members attend conference. It is therefore easy for conference apparatus to be co-opted by the ideologically-driven blocs who are motivated to attend. The democratic deficit is particularly acute in the case of internal elections for key national committees. Some of the internal roles are elected only at conference during a 24-hour period when even less of the fewer than 2% participate. Over the last four years’ elections held at conference for Standing Orders Committee, fewer than half of those entitled to vote actually voted, so SOC was elected by an average of 300 of the party’s 50,000 members. GPRC representatives are elected by their regions; in most regions few members register or understand the need for candidates, few stand for the roles, and few members participate in the regional elections. It is rare for regional representatives on the Regional Council to be held to account. The way forward Local parties are the beating heart of the party. By their efforts, elections are won or lost. When councillors are elected (and indeed MPs), the ‘Green in the room’ effect takes hold and councils and national policies and practices can be transformed. Yet, there is little connection between local parties and central governance. As well as dealing with the basic abuses of power that has led to Greens in Exiles needing to form, ideas for new delegate conferences might be the link that could return the party to the majority of its members.  Freedom of speech The Green Party’s approach to ethical conduct is supposed to be guided by its philosophical basis and core values, which include a commitment to freedom of self-expression. Open debate No progress in a political party, or wider society, will happen without open debate. Any Green Party policies should be able to be discussed in the light of changing scientific evidence or a change in public opinion. Good governance The Green Party should have a democratic process for making decisions, free of abuse and corruption and in line with social conventions and the rule of law. But does it? Science-based policy The Green Party is supposed to prioritise a scientific approach to gathering information and building knowledge to enable the development of policies through scientifically informed debate. Women’s sex-based rights Sex is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act (EqA) 2010 but not in today’s Green Party where advocating for “sex-based rights” can be seen as transphobic. Safeguarding The Green Party like any other organisation has a duty to safeguard and protect members against issues such as abuse and bullying, as well as ensuring that any children, or at risk adults, are sufficiently protected. Help the party refocus The Green Party has shifted away from being the party of ecology, but the climate and nature emergency has not gone away and we must come back to our core purpose. Explore the Greens in Exile to learn more. “Like all creatures, humankind depends upon a healthy natural environment for its survival. Yet it is human activity, more than anything else, which is threatening the environment and, ultimately, threatening the future of life on Earth as we currently know it.” (PB102)…

Chris Kennedy, Green candidate for Makerfield by election, pulls out after being called ‘anti Semitic’. Former Green Party by-election candidate apologises for sharing ‘false flag’ post Chris Kennedy has pulled out of the Makerfield by-election just hours after he was announced as the Green Party’s candidate The Green Party said its former Makerfield by-election candidate has apologised for sharing social media posts which described an attack on ambulances run by a Jewish charity as a “false flag”. Chris Kennedy was announced as the party’s candidate on Thursday but withdrew hours later, with the Greens citing “personal and family reasons”. The Times newspaper later reported, external it had approached Kennedy about social media posts he shared that were linked to the arson attack on four ambulances operated by the charity Hatzola in Golders Green, north London. The BBC understands the posts were a factor in Kennedy’s withdrawal. A Green Party spokesperson said: “We have spoken to Chris about these posts, and he has now deleted them. He apologises for the offence caused.” They also said the posts “don’t reflect the views of The Green Party”. According to The Times, one of the posts shared by Kennedy was an Instagram video which described the arrests of two men over the Golders Green incident as trying to “keep the false flag flying”. A false flag is a political or military action carried out with the intention of blaming an opponent for it, a tactic Israel is known to use. After the Green’s announced his withdrawal on Thursday, it was reported that Kennedy, a registered nurse and children’s safeguarding specialist, wanted to focus on the caring responsibilities of his family. The by-election in the Greater Manchester constituency on 18 June was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Josh Simons. Simons said he was stepping down to allow Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham the opportunity to contest the seat and, if successful, make a return to Westminster as an MP. Green Party leader Zack Polanski previously described Kennedy as a “fantastic candidate” and said the by-election is about “who is making the case for lower bills, warmer and more affordable homes, and a greener and fairer economy”. The Greens intend to make a decision about a replacement candidate on Monday.

Green party leader Zack Polanski, on BBC Radio Hull, about hypno therapy enlarging ladies breasts.  Polanski stood by breast enlargement hypnosis claim Zack Polanski was elected leader of the Green Party of England and Wales last year Zack Polanski’s claim to have immediately apologised for saying that hypnosis could increase a woman’s breast size has been thrown into doubt by a newly unearthed interview. Before entering politics the Green Party leader worked as a hypnotherapist and offered a session in 2013 to enlarge a newspaper reporter’s bust. Polanski has since said he was misrepresented and never believed it was possible, claiming he spoke to the BBC the day after the article to apologise. BBC News cannot find evidence of such an interview, but six days later he spoke to Radio Humberside to stand by the theory saying “the evidence is growing”. A Green Party source said: “Zack has repeatedly apologised for an interview he did with the Sun more than a decade ago. “Now, Zack is focussed on the issues that really matter to people: bringing down bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services.” A 2013 article in the Sun featured Polanski offering a reporter hypnosis to increase her cup size. The reporter claims the session, at Polanski’s Harley Street consulting room, had the desired effect, to her surprise. Since entering politics and becoming leader of the Green Party of England and Wales in September 2025, he has distanced himself from the claim. He has repeatedly said he was misrepresented and claimed that he appeared on the BBC to apologise the day after the Sun article was published, on 12 June 2013. The BBC asked the Green Party to point us to the BBC interview in question and also searched programme running orders but could find no record of it. However, six days later on 18 June, Polanski did speak to BBC Radio Humberside. In that interview he did not apologise but defended the claims. “Actually increasingly more and more as I work with people, there’s starting to become anecdotal evidence, at least, of a growth in breast size,” he told presenter Peter Levy. Polanski said it was an “experiment” and needed further research.

Zack Polanski falsely claimed to be British Red Cross spokesperson, charity says Green party leader for England and Wales also accused of incorrectly stating he was a full member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy Zack Polanski falsely claimed to be a spokesperson for the British Red Cross while campaigning for the Green party leadership, the charity has said. The claim was also mentioned on his personal website in 2020, where he said he was “really proud of the work we do”. The British Red Cross told the Times that Polanski “has not been a spokesperson” for the charity, and said it had raised the issue with the Greens. Polanski posted several examples on X of him hosting fundraisers for the organisation. “I’ve always admired the work of the British Red Cross. From their work to support refugees to their work supporting people in Gaza and conflict zones around the world,” he wrote. A Green party spokesperson did not address the claims directly, but said the Times should apologise for what they described as an antisemitic cartoon of Polanski in the newspaper over the weekend, with an exaggerated large nose. “Instead of apologising, the same paper that published an incredibly offensive antisemitic cartoon of Zack Polanski is devoting column inches to bottom of the barrel stories,” they added. The Times story also alleged Polanski was not a full member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy, despite claiming to be one. Polanski’s time as a hypnotherapist has been under the spotlight after he was featured in a 2013 Sun article, before he entered politics, offering hypnosis intended to increase a woman’s breast size. He has repeatedly apologised for the episode, but said it was not a service he routinely offered, and he had only agreed to what the Sun journalist had asked for. The BBC later uncovered an interview that Polanski did six days after the Sun piece, where he talks about “a successful project” with the journalist in changing the size of her breasts, indicating that he had tried the technique with other people. The Green party is hoping to make significant gains on Thursday, especially in London with disillusioned Labour voters who have been drawn to Polanski’s leadership of the party in England and Wales.

Planning, housing, Merchant Venturers, student housing. Greens naive to sharks. Van dweller, gypsy situation in Bristol. Travellers in Bristol ‘scattered’ throughout city after key site closure amid claims they are being stripped of their culture ‘They’re taking our beliefs, they’re taking our culture away from us’. A member of the Traveller community says the closure of a site in Avonmouth has left her and many others ‘scattered’ throughout Bristol. Sarah* was living in St Anthony’s Park, a council-run site, before Bristol City Council shut it down and evicted people living there in the June 2025. Since then, the community, which consisted of at least 13 families, has been spread in disparate locations across Bristol. Sarah said they had been paying the council to live on the site without any issues, before they were evicted due to a large fly tip that had accumulated from people from outside the site dumping rubbish there. “We’re all scattered around the place with young children, all while the site is still down there, and they’ve now taken the rubbish out of the site,” she said. “We got told to move out of the site for three months and the site would be cleaned up. And that’s not the case, because the site has been cleaned up and they won’t open it, and the caretaker told us that anybody that got eviction orders from the site is not welcome back into the site.” Man attacked with knife in Hartcliffe after car windows smashed Shock as second headteacher leaves Bristol’s biggest school in a year Sarah’s father, who suffers from a number of health problems and was recently hospitalised due to a heart attack, has been left to live in a vehicle in an alley by an industrial estate, with no access to facilities or electricity. The ongoing closure of the site has had two effects: -the pre-existing community made to disperse around Bristol, and any new or returning groups of Travellers are unable to set up on the site, which is on the outer fringes of Bristol. St Anthony’s Park is meant as a ‘transit site’, meaning people should only live there for up to thirteen weeks. Some, like Sarah, had been there over a year. However, that was not the reason the council gave for evicting them, and the site remains closed due to unspecified health and safety issues. Bristol City Council refused to comment on when the site would be open, or the provide more details concerning its ongoing closure. There is only one other council-approved Traveller site in Bristol, in Ashton Vale, which has no vacancies. With Ashton Vale full and St Anthony’s Park closed, there is an increased chance groups of Travellers will base themselves in more prominent, unauthorised locations…

Because he is afraid to do interviews with local journalists who might ask awkward questions Heather Mack, Green Deputy Leader of Bristol City Council interviews Tony Dyer, Green council Leader. ‘Big’ Bristol Questions 2026 – full interview Bristol City Council Instead of speaking to Journalists Councillor Tony Dyer, Leader of the Council, and Councillor Heather Mack, Deputy Leader, talk about our goals for the next 12 months in this informal interview. The conversation looks at the big choices we face, how (not whether) we use money wisely and the outcomes people will (perhaps) see across the city.

Heiko Khoo on Palantir and their role in surveillance of UK Police. Open source software. Interview with Louis Moseley, Chief Exec of Palantir UK. Heiko on pros and cons of AI and Palantir drones in wars. Zack Polanski on Palantir. PALANTIR, AI WARFARE, AND THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY Palantir’s name comes from the all-seeing stone in The Lord of the Rings — which allows universal surveillance and corrupts its users. Founded by Peter Thiel and Alex Karp, and backed by CIA-linked investment funds, its development was shaped by ties to Western intelligence agencies and Mossad following 9/11. This was the dawn of the so-called War on Terror, in the name of which the people of Afghanistan and Iraq were bombed into the Stone Age, generating millions of casualties and refugees. Palantir’s AI transforms massive data into weapons of surveillance, repression, destruction and death. Palantir regards its tools as equal or superior to nuclear weapons, technology that is reshaping the balance of forces on Earth. These weapons are not controlled by governments or constrained by international treaties; they are developed and owned by a private corporation. No wonder that in recent interviews CEO Alex Karp appears to be suffering from a deranged megalomania. Palantir’s intervention in Ukraine helped to replicate all the horrors of the trench warfare of World War One. Palantir proudly supports Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Its AI-assisted targeting generated massive numbers of strike targets for the IDF’s automated machinery of destruction and slaughter. In the last two months Palantir assisted the US military in targeting Iranian infrastructure and was almost certainly responsible for the killing of more than 150 schoolgirls in Minab in Northern Iran. Palantir technologies dissolve the distinction between civilian, economic, intelligence and military warfare. Palantir is a machine designed to control and destroy humanity. This sinister company has its fingers in every pie: it secured Covid contracts without competitive tender, it was paid to jab 44 million people in the UK at warp speed with experimental “vaccines”, and it has taken control over NHS data platforms. Palantir also provides the infrastructure for ICE — and its barbaric immigration policing and enforcement campaign in the United States under Trump. Palantir provides the tools for mass surveillance and population tracking for governments to use against us. Palantir embeds itself in health systems to prepare the future terrain of biological, pharmacological, neural and genetic forms of surveillance. At a time when trust in government and state agencies is at an all-time low, Palantir provides these same entities with massively enhanced decision-making and predictive analytics, all the better to manipulate and control people. However, the company’s libertarian CEO dreams of the eventual dissolution of the nation-state, and they provide the ecosystem for a future in which we may be ruled directly by corporations by means of universal surveillance, monitoring and control of workers and consumers. Palantir must be stopped. All government contracts with the company must be rescinded. Its role in war crimes in Gaza, Iran and elsewhere must be investigated. Its threat to humanity must be exposed. Bristol Green MP Carla Denyer has taken time off as burnt out. Carla on the future of the Green Party. MP to take leave of absence due to ‘burnout’ Carla Denyer made history in 2024 after being elected as Bristol’s first Green MP An MP has announced that she will be taking “several weeks” off from work to recover from mental and physical health symptoms relating to burnout. Carla Denyer, who represents Bristol Central, said she made the “difficult” decision to take time off after advice from her doctor. Denyer said she had been struggling with persistent health issues, which she attempted to manage alongside the long hours and significant responsibility her work entails. “Burnout is a condition that does not tend to get better on its own. If left unmanaged, it can worsen and increase your risk of long-term health problems,” she added. “It is an honour to represent the people of Bristol Central and I know that by stepping back for a little while now, I will ultimately be able to return as a better champion for the community that means so much to me,” she continued. Occupational burnout, external is a health condition that stems from persistent and prolonged periods of stress that can have significant knock-on health effects. “[Burnout] is something that I know will be familiar to many people in all walks of life, especially those working in high-stress environments and in people-facing professions such as nurses, teachers and social workers,” she added. “I hope that by sharing my own struggles, I can help in some small way to combat the stigma around it and contribute to a more open conversation.” Denyer was elected to Bristol Central in the 2024 general election but has worked in politics in various roles for more than 10 years, including as co-leader of the Green Party from 2021 to 2025. Denyer said that her constituency office will continue to function as usual during her time off.

Wendy Stevenson, free speech case against Bristol City Council. Two women take Bristol City Council to High Court over City Hall ban The women’s challenges on gender and trans rights prompted a councillor walk out last year that made national headlines Two women are taking Bristol City Council to a judicial review because they have been barred from attending full council meetings for six months, after heated scenes at City Hall last year. The two are members of a group called ‘Women of Wessex’ – a gender critical group – who sparked controversy and national attention when they went to Bristol City Council meetings last autumn and asked the council about its policy on transgender people. Their questions and statements prompted some councillors to walk out of one meeting and, at a second meeting, councillors held up placards while the women were again asking questions from the public gallery. But it was an incident that happened within City Hall but outside the council chamber that led to two women being barred from attending full council meetings for six months – a ban they are now challenging in the courts. The two women are Dr Phoebe Beedell and Wendy Stephenson. Dr Beedell is a retired academic at Bristol University and UWE. Wendy Stephenson was, at the time, the chair of the city council’s independent panel that deals with how much councillors are paid. The council said the two women confronted two councillors outside the meeting and “were intimidating”. Ms Stephenson was stripped of that post and her position on the panel after the incident, and the pair were told they were barred from attending full council meetings for six months. The two women have since hired leading London law firm Conrathe Gardner to instigate judicial review proceedings against the city council in the High Court. Conrathe Gardner has taken on several high profile legal challenges around the issue of transgender politics, including a discrimination claim against the Girl Guides which prompted last month’s announcement that the organisation would no longer accept trans girls or women as members. The Women of Wessex group began challenging Bristol City Council’s leaders and councillors at full council meetings in the second half of 2025 after April’s Supreme Court ruling on biological sex and gender, which they said now conflicts with the city council’s policies on transgender rights. The group made statements and asked questions of the council, prompting a number of Green Party councillors to walk out in protest at a meeting in September, before another bust-up in November when some Green Party councillors held up placards as the women spoke from the public gallery. A spokesperson for the legal team taking on the case at Conrathe Gardner said they would challenge the council’s version of events. They said only Dr Beedell was involved in that conversation outside the chamber, ‘and her behaviour was in no sense intimidatory’. They claimed the only reason for the ban was to prevent the women from continuing to make representations at full council meetings. “This is an important case in the balancing of trans rights and gender critical views and has implications for the way in which councils treat democratic debate with members of the public, and the need for councils to bring their policies into line with the Equality Act and the For Women Scotland decision,” he added. The women will tell a High Court judge that the ban violates their human rights because it ‘interferes with their ability to express their views directly to democratically elected members on a matter of significant public interest’. They also claim the ban and ending Ms Stephenson’s position on the remuneration panel were legally unjust, because the women weren’t given the opportunity to make representations before the decision was made. “To be banned from City Hall with no warning and no chance to defend myself is even more of a shock than the childish and undemocratic behaviour of the councillors in the meetings,” said Dr Beedell. James Gardner, a partner at Conrathe Gardner LLP, is acting for the claimants. “Our clients have views, which, although lawful and in line with most of the British public, appear to differ from those held by the majority of Green Party councillors. “Do these elected men and women have no ability to listen calmly to opinions they disagree with or engage in thoughtful debate? The council’s conduct breaches its own Code of Conduct and its own constitution: it’s not only shocking but also clearly unlawful,” he added.

Carla Denyer on migration. Migration has gone down in UK. Green Party unrealistic ideas – need more systems management. UK migration drops to 171,000 – almost half 2024’s figure Migration added 171,000 people to the UK’s population last year, almost half the number seen in 2024, according to new data. The figure is at its lowest level since 2012, excluding the Covid pandemic – but Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said there was still “more to do”. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) data also reveals that 93,525 people claimed asylum in the UK in the year to March 2026 – down 12% on the year prior, but still more than double that seen just before the pandemic. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the statistics showed the government was “restoring order and control to our borders”, while her counterpart Chris Philp argued that Labour needed to “go further”. The ONS said net migration continued to fall to levels last seen in early 2021 – when a new immigration system was introduced and Covid travel restrictions were in place. Sarah Crofts, the body’s deputy director, said: “The recent decrease is driven by fewer people arriving from outside the EU, particularly for work.” Following the release, the Home Office wrote on X: “We are ending Britain’s reliance on overseas labour, ensuring migrants contribute more than they take and are increasing the removal of illegal migrants and foreign criminals.” Sir Keir said the data showed that his government was “delivering”, adding: “I know there’s more to do, we’re introducing a skills-based migration system that rewards contribution and ends our reliance on cheap overseas workers.” Policy changes from early 2024 under the former Conservative government are likely to have made an impact on the net migration figures. The Labour government has retained the measures and in some cases expanded on them. They include most overseas students being restricted from bringing family members to the UK and care workers being restricted from bringing dependents with them. Ministers also increased the general salary threshold for those arriving on skilled visas from £26,200 to £38,700, and increased the minimum income requirement to sponsor someone for a family visa by more than £10,000. After Brexit, the German small organised crime boats started, there was a large increase in immigration. Conservative ministers relaxed salary thresholds and some other routes for health and social care workers to plug shortages in the workforce. Critics of the previous government dubbed it the “Boriswave”, with some insiders telling the BBC that the 2024 measures helped bring down those numbers. The current government has recently announced further plans to reduce net migration even further, including migrants being required to speak English to A-level standard….

Adil Raja, Soldier Speaks, on release of Imran Khan Arrest Cypher Pakistan Army Chief’s ‘Postman’ Visit to Tehran, Trump and the war in Iran. Drop Site News is publishing below the full transcript of Cable I-0678 — the classified Pakistani diplomatic cypher dated March 7, 2022, at the center of Imran Khan’s claim that the United States orchestrated his removal from power. The document was previously described by The Intercept, which first reported on its contents in August 2023. The Intercept’s source, who had access to the document as a member of the military, spoke of growing disillusionment with Pakistan’s military leadership and the impact on military morale following its involvement in the political fight against Khan. The source said they hoped the document “would finally confirm what ordinary people, as well as the rank and file of the armed forces, had long suspected about the Pakistani military, and force a reckoning within the institution.” They warned the military was pushing Pakistan toward a crisis similar to the one in 1971 that led to the secession of Bangladesh. Drop Site is now publishing the document in full so that it may be part of the historical record | From Mutual Suspicion to Political Embrace: How the U.S. Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Pakistan. I had a luncheon meeting today with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Donald Lu. He was accompanied by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Les Viguerie. DCM, DA and Counsellor Qasim joined me. At the outset, Don referred to Pakistan’s position on the Ukraine crisis and said that “people here and in Europe are quite concerned about why Pakistan is taking such an aggressively neutral position (on Ukraine), if such a position is even possible. It does not seem such a neutral stand to us.” He shared that in his discussions with the NSC, “it seems quite clear that this is the Prime Minister’s policy.” He continued that he was of the view that this was “tied to the current political dramas in Islamabad that he (Prime Minister) needs and is trying to show a public face.” I replied that this was not a correct reading of the situation as Pakistan’s position on Ukraine was a result of intense interagency consultations. Pakistan had never resorted to conducting diplomacy in public sphere. The Prime Minister’s remarks during a political rally were in reaction to the public letter by European Ambassadors in Islamabad which was against diplomatic etiquette and protocol. Any political leader, whether in Pakistan or the U.S., would be constrained to give a public reply in such a situation. I asked Don if the reason for a strong U.S. reaction was Pakistan’s abstention in the voting in the UNGA. He categorically replied in the negative and said that it was due to the Prime Minister’s visit to Moscow. He said that “I think if the no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington because the Russia visit is being looked at as a decision by the Prime Minister. Otherwise, I think it will be tough going ahead.” He paused and then said “I cannot tell how this will be seen by Europe but I suspect their reaction will be similar.” He then said that “honestly I think isolation of the Prime Minister will become very strong from Europe and the United States.” Don further commented that it seemed that the Prime Minister’s visit to Moscow was planned during the Beijing Olympics and there was an attempt by the Prime Minister to meet Putin which was not successful and then this idea was hatched that he would go to Moscow. I told Don that this was a completely misinformed and wrong perception. The visit to Moscow had been in the works for at least few years and was the result of a deliberative institutional process. I stressed that when the Prime Minister was flying to Moscow, Russian invasion of Ukraine had not started and there was still hope for a peaceful resolution. I also pointed out that leaders of European countries were also traveling to Moscow around the same time. Don interjected that “those visits were specifically for seeking resolution of the Ukraine standoff while the Prime Minister’s visit was for bilateral economic reasons.” I drew his attention to the fact that the Prime Minister clearly regretted the situation while being in Moscow and had hoped for diplomacy to work. The Prime Minister’s visit, I stressed, was purely in the bilateral context and should not be seen either as a condonation or endorsement of Russia’s action against Ukraine. I said that our position is dictated by our desire to keep the channels of communication with all sides open. Our subsequent statements at the UN and by our Spokesperson spelled that out clearly, while reaffirming our commitment to the principle of UN Charter, non-use or threat of use of force, sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, and pacific settlement of disputes.

Adil on China and how it spreads it’s power and influence through trade and infrastructure works – just like the British Empire did. From Shanghai clique to Xi Circle – Rise & Fall of Chinese Political elites In politics a leader’s political security is guaranteed by trusted comrades around him. This was true to the Romans, true to the soviets & true to any modern political leadership. In a multiparty democratic system these loyal, powerful supporters have a shorter life span compared to that of the autocratic or single party systems. In non democratic – single party systems the loyal circles will last as long as the leader survives. The relationship between the leader and his loyal elites work in a reflective manner. When the leader shines so does his entourage. When any one among the loyalists circle gets tainted, it reflects upon the leader’s legacy. That is why whenever a leader falls the loyalist ends up getting flushed out & even prosecuted. Looking at the notorious Satlin’s secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria this could very well be understood. Communist China has not been any different from the rest of the world in this political elite circles. From the gang of four that rose to the helm of Chinese politics during the cultural revolution to the Shanghai clique , these intraparty elite fractions have dominated the one party communist China. Mao himself acknowledged this reality “No party outside the party reflects an imperial ideology; no faction within the party is an incredibly bizarre notion,” said Mao. Let’s take a look at the Shanghai clique to quench the thirst of knowledge. As an entree , we need to get ourselves familiar with the Chinese political mechanism. China’s political power is concentrated within the Chinese communist party. It is the members of the party congress that would decide the 370 strong central committee , the central committee would select the 25 member politburo. The Politburo would select the Politburo Standing Committee which would comprise 5 to 9 members. The head of that grouping is the party’s general secretary. That is the central nervous system of the Chinese political system. Simply speaking, a CPU inside a computer. It is natural for a leader to have a firm grip top down on the entire hierarchy. It would be the interest of any leader to promote their loyalists to this network. Unless sacked on criminal charges or face a natural death the only other way for any of these members to lose power is by reaching 68 years which is the retirement age of a member. Jiang Zemin ruled communist China as its president from 1993 to 2003. During his tenure he made sure that he would have enough power to steer his policies and thus worked to promote his loyalists to the top positions. These powerful individuals who were the gatekeepers to power were known as the Shanghai gang. They hailed from Shanghai & were associates of the President. To understand their importance in politics n general & to Jiang’s power , the below listing of the alleged Shanghai clique members & the posts they held would be suffice Wu Bangguo – Chairman and Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Speaker of the People’s Republic of China Huang Ju – Member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Zeng Qinghong – Member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Jia Qinglin – Member of the CCP’s Politburo Standing Committee, head of China’s consultative legislative body Chen Liangyu – Member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party Shanghai & its mayor Chen Zhili – State Councilor and Minister of Education, and a Vice Chairperson of the National People’s Congress. Jia Ting’ – General in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Served as the deputy director of the Political Work Department…

Sir Frank Whittle’s invention of the jet engine makes him the most influential Briton of the 20th century after Churchill. Not only did his vision change the face of the Earth, it enabled us all to see what it actually looks like. In Whittle – The Jet Pioneer Sir Frank tells his amazing yet poignant story in his own words. The film also includes contributions from his son Ian Whittle, test pilot Captain Eric Brown RN and Hans von Ohain – and is richly illustrated with rare wartime colour archive of Britain’s first jet planes. This film is a feature-length version of the documentary originally made by Quanta for The History Channel.

Walter Wink on how angels or demons can be in charge of groups or corporations. ‘The Corporation’ documentary – money flowing from individuals to corporations. The System Belongs to God. DVD 1. Walter Wink, James Forbes, Jane Wolf. From “The System Belongs to God” DVDs.  The Powers That Be: Theology for a New Millennium Walter Wink In our fast-paced secular world, God and theology are second-class citizens. Money, politics, sports, and science seem better suited to the hard realities of our world. As the church steeple has been eclipsed by the skyscraper as the centerpiece of the urban landscape, so has the divine realm been set aside in favor of more immediate human experience. One sad consequence of this shift is the loss of spiritual and theological bearings, most clearly evident in our inability to understand or speak about such things. If the old way of viewing the universe no longer works, something else has to replace it. The Powers That Be reclaims the divine realm as central to human existence by offering new ways of understanding our world in theological terms. Walter Wink reformulates ancient concepts, such as God and the devil, heaven and hell, angels and demons, principalities and powers, in light of our modern experience. He helps us see heaven and hell, sin and salvation, and the powers that shape our lives as tangible parts of our day-to-day experience, rather than as mysterious phantoms. Based on his reading of the Bible and analysis of the world around him, Wink creates a whole new language for talking about and to God. Equipped with this fresh world view, we can embark on a new relationship with God and our world into the next millennium.

[UPDATE channel restored by YT in July 2025] October 2022 – Tony’s Public Enquiry Channel opened in March 2008, with 13 million views, over 1,600 videos and 26,000 subscribers is removed under false pretences by YouTube – A video Tony recorded in New Zealand ‘Bill Gates, ID2020 & Revelation: Quaker Tony Gosling on Covid 19 & the Bible’ and uploaded on 8th April 2020 got a ‘third strike’ but YouTube’s ‘medical misinformation’ regime was introduced in September 2021 so should not have included as ‘strikes’ videos uploaded before that date.  Documentary makers are just about the only public interest investigators left in the NATO zone. If you’d like to share your views on his deliberate dumbing-down and pro-Covid jab mismanagement you can contact UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom or BCfm board chair and the ‘Don’ himself, here.
