Western establishments’ fear of the phrase “Globalise the intifada” has little to do with any danger supposedly posed to Jewish populations from its use. The threat is posed by the slogan’s central idea, not by some specific target. “Globalise the intifada!” is the modern equivalent of “Power to the people!” – a slogan long used by anti-colonial movements, by revolutionary socialist parties, by the ANC in its fight against South African apartheid, and by the Black Panthers in their struggle against white supremacy in the US. The emblematic anti-colonial struggle of our times is in Palestine. It is hardly surprising that any emerging, popular mass movement against oppressive, unaccountable, increasingly anti-democratic western elites should look to the language of that struggle. “Intifada” refers to “uprising”, “shaking off” a system of oppression. We can all see where Israel’s ethnic supremacist agenda has led for the Palestinians: to military occupation, apartheid and genocide. Many of us sense too that this is where our own societies are heading. The ultimate destination of the technological developments – from smart phones to social media – that have atomised and pacified us over the past two decades is absolute control over our lives through surveillance, facial recognition and more militarised and robotic policing, and our ever-greater redundancy and powerlessness in the face of artificial intelligence and greater mechanisation. These technologies have been tested and refined for at least a quarter of a century in the Palestinian territories illegally occupied and ruled by Israel. Why is Israel viewed as so essential to western elites that they are willing to be seen openly backing its genocide in Gaza? Because Israel is creating a vision of the near-future, it is developing the template for how they deal with surplus sections of western populations in a world of diminishing resources and an ever-more hostile climate. And all the better for our rulers, any resistance on our part to the Palestinians’ enslavement and slow extermination – and to our own growing servitude and abuse – can be characterised as antisemitism. In outsourcing this project to Israel, western establishments have devised the ultimate cover story. Every time some deluded group or individual falls for this ploy and blames Jews collectively for what Israel and its patrons are really responsible for, the noose tightens a little more round the neck of those trying to liberate our minds before the confinement of our bodies becomes permanent. While we are being demonised as racists, the technology and strategies used today against Palestinians will become the walls of tomorrow’s prisons for us. “Globalise the intifada” isn’t a call for harming Jews, though western establishments would love you to think it is. It’s a call for showing solidarity with Palestinians before it is too late for them, and for us. It is about throwing sand in the cogs of a machinery of oppression before it grows too powerful to be confronted…

According to a review of the memoir printed on Saturday in the Spectator magazine, Shlaim unveils in his book “undeniable proof of Zionist involvement in the terrorist attacks” which prompted a mass exodus of Jews from Iraq between 1950 and 1951. The historian concluded, after extensive personal research, that while a grenade assault on the Masuda Shemtov synagogue in Baghdad – which killed four Jews in January 1951 – was carried out by an Arab, other bombings were allegedly the work of Mossad, Israel’s spy agency. These were carried out to quicken the transfer of 110,000 Jews in Iraq to the then-newly created state of Israel, he said. Middle East Eye has reached out to Shlaim for comment. Over 800,000 Jews either left or were expelled from countries in the Middle East and North Africa between 1948 and the early 1980s. The majority of them settled in Israel. As of 2005, 61 percent of Israeli Jews were of full or partial Mizrahi ancestry – the sociological term coined to refer to Jews from the region following the creation of Israel. Family fled Iraq In his book, Shlaim describes how he was one of those who fled violence in the region. Born in 1945 in Baghdad, his parents were well-connected and well-to-do members of Iraq’s millennia-old Jewish minority. But at the age of five, Shlaim was forced to flee with his family following the bombings targeting Jews in the Iraqi capital. The attacks came less than two years after the ethnic cleansing that took place in what Palestinians call the Nakba (catastrophe), which led to the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. Zionist forces killed 13,000 Palestinians, destroyed and depopulated around 530 villages and towns, committed at least 30 massacres, and expelled 750,000 people during the Nakba. More than 6,000 Israeli Jews, including 4,000 soldiers and 2,000 civilians, were killed, as well as around 2,000 troops from Arab countries.

The CST, which monitors antisemitic hate crimes and works with the government and police, has previously claimed that pro-Palestine marches in London were “disrupting the peace and the basic rights of Jews” and called for them to end. The BBC training also incorporates the controversial International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, which the British government has adopted but which legal experts have warned could lead to a “curtailment of debate”. The definition says that claiming that the existence of the state of Israel is a “racist endeavour” is an illustration of potential antisemitism. Its critics say it conflates antisemitism with anti-Zionism, or with criticism of policies that led to the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 and the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes in modern-day Israel. ‘Against any form of discrimination’ Asked for comment, the BBC directed MEE to comments previously made by outgoing director general Tim Davie. In an email to BBC staff on 4 December, Davie said that the “BBC is for everyone, and we are clear that everyone working here should feel they belong. As an organisation we stand united against any form of discrimination, prejudice, or intolerance”. “In response to this, the BBC Academy has spent the last few months developing new anti-discrimination training. We’re starting with e-learning modules on antisemitism and Islamophobia, which we expect staff across the BBC to complete,” he added. Davie said that the “module on antisemitism is available from today, while the Islamophobia module is just being finalised, to launch in February”. Davie resigned last month amid a row over the broadcaster’s editing of a speech by US President Donald Trump on 6 January 2021 for the BBC’s Panorama show. The public broadcaster has also been embroiled in several scandals over its coverage of Israel and Gaza. But the British government and the bulk of the British media appears entirely indifferent to their fate . In fact, recently when David Lammy was confronted by family members of hunger strikers, he actually claimed that he didn’t even know what they were talking about. He seemed to be entirely unaware of the case. My my brother is on day 25MPs even laughed when the plight of the hunger strikers was brought up in parliament to help the situation. Would the minister be able to meet their legal representatives and families if necessary in order to discuss this situation and try and move forward to help the safety of these particular prisoners? Minister, no. Luckily, the hunger strikes began at the beginning of November and a number of the hunger strikers are now in a dangerous condition. and a number of them have been taken to hospital. It’s important to note that none of these people have been convicted of any crime. They are also not accused of any crimes of violence against people. They were arrested before Palestine Action was prescribed as a terrorist organization. Nevertheless, they appear to be being treated as terrorists. They were arrested by counterterror police, some of them at gunpoint. their communications with the outside world have been restricted and they say that prison guards frequently abuse them and refer to them as terrorists. Now let’s get clear what these people are actually in prison accused of. Half of them are accused of taking part in the operation at the Elbbit Systems Research and Development Center at Elbbit in Bristol. Elbot is Israel’s largest arms manufacturer. Elbbit makes the weapons that kill Palestinian children. It also makes enormous profits marketing its weapon systems around the world as being battle tested. That is as having been used against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank. It makes millions and millions of pounds from this selling among others to the British government. The other half of the hunger strikers were involved in the operation where they sprayed paint on RAF planes at RAF Brize Norton. Brize Norton is the base in Britain which supplies RAF Acriteri in Cyprus. RAF Acriteri is the hub for Western complicity in the genocide in Gaza. Huge quantities of American munitions have flowed through RAF Accretier on their way to Israel for use against the population of Gaza. And the British have been running daily surveillance flights out of RAF Ackroteri over Gaza. They have accumulated thousands of hours of footage which they admit is passed over to the Israelis, but they claim it’s used only for hostage rescue, which is an explanation which is frankly an insult to the intelligence of the British people.

Israel is in denial for many years because they deny also the occupation. For them, the occupation is a normal phenomena. Since the fall of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s government, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has consolidated control over Syria’s military, security, educational, and economic sectors. A formal civilian facade – councils, committees, and ministries – masks a much narrower circle directing the levers of governance. Nowhere is this gap between appearance and reality more visible than in the economic sphere. Self-appointed Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa (formerly known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani when he was an Al-Qaeda chief) has issued decrees establishing a new lattice of economic bodies under his direct authority or under the “General Secretariat of the Presidency,” led by his brother Maher al-Sharaa. These include the National Committee for Import and Export, the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs, a sovereign fund, the Development Fund, and the General Authority for Civil Aviation. Some are reconstituted entities once belonging to ministries of transport, economy, or finance; others are inventions of the new order. All now feed power upward into the Sharaa family’s command structure. On paper, the economy is supervised by Minister of Economy and Industry Mohamed Nidal al-Shaar, Minister of Finance Mohamed Yasar Barniyya, and Central Bank Governor Abdel Qader al-Hasriyya. Yet businessmen, technocrats, and insiders who speak to The Cradle describe a system where these officials serve largely as clerical fronts. Decision-making lies in a “deep economic state” operated by the president’s brothers and enforced by an unexpected figure: Ibrahim Sukkarieh, known inside the system as Abu Maryam al-Australi. The enforcer The ascent of Sukkarieh – or “Abu Maryam the Australian,” born in Australia to a Lebanese father from Akkar and an Australian mother, and raised in Brisbane – has become one of the most revealing stories of Syria’s post-Assad transformation. He arrived in Syria in 2013, at a moment of deep turmoil, and under circumstances that would only later become clear. He left Australia a day before his brother, Ahmed, carried out a suicide car-bomb attack in rural Damascus – an attack that made Ahmed the first known Australian suicide bomber. Another brother, Omar, was sentenced to four and a half years in Australia in 2016 for financing the precursor to HTS, the Nusra Front, placing the family under intelligence scrutiny on both sides of the world. In Idlib, Ibrahim first cultivated a profile as an English-speaking commentator, appearing on podcasts and social media to discuss the region’s governance. Using names such as “Ibrahim Massoud” and “Ibrahim bin Massoud,” he portrayed himself as a researcher and analyst, even identifying himself playfully on some platforms as a “businessman, cricket lover, shawarma lover.” Yet beneath this crafted persona lay a different story. According to Syrian sources and multiple internal reports, Sukkarieh held military and organizational positions inside HTS, serving as a sector emir prior to 2020. In October 2022, he joined the group’s “general follow-up committee,” headed by Abd al-Rahim Attoun, the former HTS mufti who now directs the presidency’s “religious consultation office.”
Reports claim some elderly and terminally ill farm owners are considering taking their own lives before the inheritance levy begins in April. Only Reform stands up for our farmers and will scrap the family farms tax.” Mo Metcalf-Fisher, director of external affairs at the Countryside Alliance, said the “incredibly heartless remarks” were “made in defence of the indefensible”. He added: “The Prime Minister should stop, listen and reflect on the outpouring of concerns from the rural community and his own MPs and immediately reset his relationship with the countryside by rethinking this disastrous policy before it’s too late.” The Government has faced an ongoing backlash for slapping inheritance tax on farms worth over £1 million in Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s first budget, with the changes due to be implemented next April.

This has been motivated by the current discussions surrounding the Farm Inheritance Tax, recently introduced by the government. It is hoped that for reasons related to sector survival that this proposed tax will be withdrawn. In the meantime, this paper is being prepared as a contribution to a review of an option for farmers to improve their market positions which for over a century have faced a declining terms-of-trade or the comparison of rising prices of inputs to stable or stagnant output prices. Besides this farm gate issue of unsatisfactory prices there is also a downstream supply chain concern that some operators have margins that far exceed those of farming enterprises involving issues more related to the general macroeconomic policies and regulations which lie outside the remit of MB legislation. However, this does indicate that any developments introduced for MBs to help improve farm gate prices and profitability, can become more effective through macroeconomic policy legislation that can smooth or even out the distribution of margins within downstream supply chain segments. This is not a statement of suggesting that the agricultural sector become the tail wagging the whole macroeconomy dog but rather to explain that this type of legislative change would benefit all sectors of the economy and in particular SMEs that remain responsible for approximately 50% of all output and employment in the United Kingdom.

EU leaders have struck a deal to lend €90bn to Ukraine, borrowed against the bloc’s shared budget, after a proposal to use immobilised Russian sovereign assets collapsed. The financial agreement represents a critical lifeline for Ukraine, and comes as Europe seeks to assert its right to influence US-led peace talks to end Russia’s almost four-year war against Kyiv. “We committed, we delivered,” European Council president António Costa said after the summit of EU leaders agreed the loan. EU capitals have for months wrestled over using €210bn of cash belonging to Russia, most of which is held in Belgium, to back a so-called reparations loan for Kyiv. Belgium had demanded expansive guarantees to cover any financial risk from the loan, which led other leaders to reject those terms, according to officials briefed on the discussions. Ukraine has warned that it faces collapse in early 2026 without additional support. EU leaders had pledged not to leave the summit in Brussels without agreeing some form of financial aid. “The absence of a decision would have been a disaster,” said French President Emmanuel Macron after the summit. He urged European leaders to speak directly to Moscow and play a role in peace talks.
The UK sanctioned Abramovich in a crackdown on Russian oligarchs after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, triggering a rushed sale of the Premier League football club and freezing of the proceeds. The UK wants the funds spent only on humanitarian causes in Ukraine, in line with a wider European push for Moscow to foot the bill for deaths and destruction triggered by its invasion. Reuters was not immediately able to reach representatives for Abramovich for a response to the government statement. He has previously sought more flexibility and said he wants the money to go to all victims. Abramovich has 90 days to act under the terms of the government’s new licence. Should the Russian businessman fail to free the funds quickly, the government said in a statement that it was fully prepared to take him to court if necessary to enforce a 2022 agreement with him. “It’s unacceptable that more than 2.5 billion pounds [$3.33 bn] of money owed to the Ukrainian people can be allowed to remain frozen in a UK bank account,” Finance Minister Rachel Reeves said in the statement. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK would issue a licence to release the funds. This would allow the transfer of the money to a new charitable foundation. “We will consider any proposal from Mr Abramovich to make use of this clear legal route to establish the foundation and transfer the funds under the terms of the licence,” Reeves said in a separate statement issued to parliament. European Union leaders are set to review on Thursday proposals aimed at using proceeds from immobilised Russian sovereign assets to support Ukraine’s huge budget and defence needs – something Moscow fiercely opposes. So, as I finish, this brings me back to where I started and my conclusion that we need a more mainstream and sophisticated articulation of the threat and, most importantly, how the situation is becoming more dangerous.

Putin suggested European powers were hindering President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker a peace deal in order to accuse Russia of not wanting peace. The Russian leader was speaking at a plenary session of the VTB Russia Calling Investment forum in Moscow, ahead of talks with Mr Trump’s special envoy and son-in-law – Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Last month, Russia and the US agreed to a 28-point plan – widely condemned by European governments – that would force Ukraine to give up land, cut its army and cease its NATO ambitions. On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelensky revealed a reworked 20-point plan, following talks with US officials over the weekend. Putin accused Europe of seeking to undermine Mr Trump’s peace efforts by making proposals that leaders knew were unacceptable to Russia. He said: “We can clearly see that all these changes are aimed at only one thing: to block the entire peace process altogether, to make such demands which are absolutely unacceptable to Russia.” As was widely expected, the talks between Mr Trump’s envoy and Putin on Tuesday night, despite lasting nearly five hours, failed to produce a significant breakthrough. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev said discussions were “productive” in a post on X. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov also said they had been constructive. But the latter added that the two sides are no closer to resolving the crisis in Ukraine, and said there was much work to be done. He noted that the sides failed to reach a compromise on one of the most difficult issues – territorial disputes. Few details on the talks have been made public, with both sides agreeing not to disclose the substance of the talks. Despite European criticism of the 28-point plan, Mr Zelensky went to work on it, before revealing the 20-point version. “The work was based on the Geneva document, and that document has been refined,” Mr Zelensky wrote on X (Twitter), as he called for more European involvement, and said there was more that needed to be worked out. “Our diplomats are actively working with all partners to ensure that European countries and other participants in the Coalition of the Willing are meaningfully involved in developing decisions.” The news came as fighting intensified around the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, with Russia claiming its capture and releasing pictures of its forces waving Russian flags in the town. Ukraine maintains that fighting remains ongoing. A senior Nato official told European Pravda that Russian forces controlled 95 per cent of the town in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, which has been the focal point of fierce fighting on the eastern front for more than a year. In an interview with the BBC, Mark Rutte said it was thanks to Donald Trump that Nato was “stronger than it ever was”, adding that Trump “is good news for collective defence, for Nato and for Ukraine”. The US leader has harshly criticised European allies for spending very little on defence – even threatening to withdraw US protection if they fail to do so. The Nato chief has warned that Russia could attack allies within the next five years. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin dismissed such talk as “hysteria” on Wednesday. “I’ve said it repeatedly – it’s a lie, nonsense, pure nonsense, about some imaginary Russian threat to European countries,” Putin told defence officials in Moscow. After Putin launched Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, he announced the annexation of four Ukrainian regions – Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. Russia had already annexed Crimea in 2014. It now occupies most of Luhansk, and is understood to demand Ukraine’s withdrawal from all of Donetsk, too, even though Ukraine still controls up to 23% of the eastern region. Putin said the goals of what he calls “the special military operation” would be achieved. He said he preferred to do it through diplomacy, before warning that, “if the opposing side and their foreign patrons refuse to engage in substantive discussions, Russia will achieve the liberation of its historical lands by military means”. In his interview with the BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, the Nato secretary general said it was “insane” that Putin’s pursuit of his “historical idea that you want to regain access to Ukraine” – or over the entire territory that used to constitute the former Soviet Union – had caused the death or serious injury to 1.1m of his people. Mark Rutte praised Trump’s efforts to find an end to the war. US envoys have been conducting intense negotiations with Ukrainian officials over a Trump-proposed peace plan whose initial draft was seen as favouring Russia. It envisages ceding control of territory in the east of the country to Russia, as well as security guarantees for Kyiv to forestall future Russian aggression. US officials say Washington is ready to offer Ukraine guarantees modelled on Nato’s Article 5 clause of mutual protection. The Nato chief told the BBC that “Russia will see that, with the security guarantees in place, he should never ever try again to attack Ukraine because our reaction will be devastating and that’s exactly what we are now discussing”. European allies who met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday in the German capital, Berlin, said a European-led force was also envisaged to “assist in the regeneration of Ukraine’s forces, in securing Ukraine’s skies, and in supporting safer seas, including through operating inside Ukraine”. Putin has opposed any such ideas. He has also warned that Russia does not seek conflict with Europe, but is ready “right now” if Europe wants to – or starts a war…
This presentation was part of a blizzard of diplomacy by the alliance’s Secretary General, which culminated in alliance members pledging to spend an unprecedented 5 percent of GDP on defense at a summit in The Hague at the end of June 2025. For European states, this is an historic spending commitment of unprecedented magnitude. Whether or not it is warranted is a matter of great importance. Rutte has apparently convinced European leaders that Russia has future aggressive intentions, but his claims have been exposed to little serious scrutiny. There are two pressing questions that need to be asked. Firstly, whether today or at any stage in the foreseeable future, the Russian military has the capability to undertake an attack on a NATO member state? And, secondly, does Russian President Vladimir Putin have a realistic rationale for invading any European country? That is, does Russia have the capacity or strategic interest for such an offensive action? The first question deserves a resoundingly negative answer. In nearly three years of intense fighting, Russian forces have not managed to capture Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, much less the country’s capital, Kyiv. As of summer 2025, they occupy 20 percent of the country, only half of which was captured during the last three years of fighting. Since 2024, a mere 0.6 percent of the country has been taken. The cost of this glacially slow progress is estimated to be 1,000 casualties a day with totals now reaching into the hundreds of thousands. Just to maintain this rather geographically limited conflict, Putin has been forced to enlist prisoners and deploy North Korean troops. Recruits have been sought in Cuba, Syria, Nepal, and India, as well as in former Soviet republics of Central Asia. There are great difficulties with turning those enlisted into an effective fighting force. One in five deaths have been of commanders, with the ranks of junior officers sustaining significant damage. These losses have made the reconstitution of effective units a severe challenge. ..
This is not journalism it is government propaganda. The BBC, which in any case is a state-owned broadcaster, is bad enough in its one-sided reporting, but the Telegraph is more sinister because of its infiltration by pseudo-government operatives covering as experts. The biggest failing of western media commentary of the war in Ukraine and, indeed, of the Ukraine crisis since it started, has been the complete lack of comparison. Focus is always and only on the negative impacts of conflict on Russia itself. And, indeed, there have been negative consequences. Russia is subject to over 20,000 economic sanctions, locked out of most trade with the west, excluded from political dialogue as an article of diplomacy, cut off from most international sports and cultural events, hundreds of thousands of its troops killed or injured since the war started, its regular citizens increasingly restricted in their movements within Europe. The economy of today’s Russia looks vastly different from that in 2014 when the crisis started. As President Putin recently pointed out, economic growth is sagging from its early war highs which were stimulated by a massive fiscal splurge. Interest rates and inflation remain worryingly high, labour shortages in some industries are growing, the population continues to age, and it remains over-reliant on fossil fuel exports. Yet, it is not enough to say that Russia faces economic challenges without looking at the comparable challenges facing Ukraine, which, certainly in the pages of the Telegraph, you will seldom hear mention of. So, let’s take Ambrose-Pritchard’s spurious suggestion that Russia’s oil exports are collapsing on the back of Trump’s recent sanctioning of Rosneft and Lukoil. This would be more persuasive if it were true and if Ukraine’s exports were somehow performing much better.
The early evidence does suggest that US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil have dramatically reduced their volumes of trade. However, there is also evidence, that trade has simply been diverted to other Russian exporters of oil, with no significant net effect. Bear in mind that Russian oil has been sanctioned in one way or another by the EU since 2014, and that there has been a progressive shutting down of gas exports since the war in Ukraine started. You would therefore expect that the total value of Russia’s exports had fallen, so let’s look at that. Since 2014, the average quarterly value of Russian exports has been a fraction above $100 bn. This takes account of the huge surge in export values shortly before the war started and throughout 2022 on the back of soaring oil prices. In the four quarters from Q4 2021 to Q3 2022, Russian exports averaged $150 bn (or $50 bn per month), 50% higher than the long-term average. In the first two quarters of 2025, Russian exports have come in at $98 bn, $2bn below the long-term average, but, in fact, identical to the two-year period from Q4 2019 through Q3 2021. So, no evidence here of sanctions having a more than marginal impact at best, at a time when Russia has shifted its exports towards Asia and the global south. In any case, the value of exports is a less helpful reference than the overall trade balance, i.e. the difference between exports and imports. It doesn’t matter how big a country’s exports are if they are importing more. Let’s take a historical look back to the start of the Ukraine crisis in 2014. Russia’s current account surplus – its balance of exports over imports – was much narrower in the second half of 2014 ($10 bn per quarter) and throughout 2016 ($6 bn) when oil prices were low, than it has been in the first two quarters of 2025 ($11 bn) when oil prices have been falling. Conversely, in 2022, Russia pulled in its highest ever current account surplus, with a quarterly average of $59.5 bn, when oil prices were soaring. However, Russia is used to the oil price going up and down, and hasn’t experienced a full-year current account deficit since 1997, and even then it was less than $1 bn. Consistently exporting more than it imports, Russia has built its international reserves over time, giving it resilience against external economic shocks and pressure. Russia’s international reserves have steadily grown from around $400 bn in late 2014, to $725 bn now. Even if western powers expropriated all of the approximately $300 bn in immobilised assets, Russia would still possess more than it had in 2014, the year the Ukraine crisis started. In a quite bizarre comment, Evans-Pritchard says ‘Putin can keep selling Russia’s reserves of gold, all the way down to the Tsarist double eagles at the bottom of the vault beneath Neglinnaya Street,’ (the location of Russia’s Central Bank). This hints strongly, that Russia is on the verge of running out of gold, right? And yet, Russia’s reserve stock of monetary gold has grown from $132 bn when the war started in 2022, to $299 bn today, which includes an increase of $17bn in October 2025. I don’t say this out of any desire to prove Russia to be right, but rather from a determination to let our analysis of the situation to be driven by data, not vacuous sound bites. The ridiculous announcements in the Daily Telegraph lack credibility precisely because they consciously and intentionally avoid hard evidence…

If you missed the film when it aired on BBC Two on Monday night, you can now stream it at your leisure for no extra cost over on BBC iPlayer. It holds an impressive 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus reading: “Official Secrets has a familiar structure and an obvious if worthy message, but rises on the strength of Keira Knightley’s powerful performance.” In their review, Observer wrote: “Whatever its flaws, Official Secrets reminds us just how seriously the state took its pursuit of Gun, who had nothing to gain and everything to lose by raising the alarm, revealing the teeth behind the smarmy smiles.” Many praised Knightley’s performance, with Sight & Sound saying: “It’s Knightley’s intensely focused performance that sustains the film. She inhabits Gun with an almost ascetic bearing, especially when her drawn countenance is placed against the sepulchral gloom of the GCHQ environs.” Refinery29 branded Official Secrets “compelling”, while Screen International said it “pushes all the right buttons”. Empire Magazine added: “Official Secrets is a timely, ambitious if broad take on a complex subject, but remains engaging and entertaining. anchored by Keira Knightley on great form.” Speaking to The Guardian, Knightley opened up about the time she spent with the real Gun in preparation for the role. “I had lunch with her, and she came to the set once. I really liked her,” she began. “Gavin Hood, the director, had said he didn’t want a characterisation of her. I mean, I don’t look anything like her. She has an interesting accent because she was brought up in Taiwan. I really wanted to do that, but Gavin wouldn’t let me. “I’m not a journalist, of course, so this was the first time I had asked anyone any questions that they legally could not answer. What is amazing about Katharine is that her point of view is so utterly clear.” She continued: “As far as playing her, that point of view had to come across. Now, I intend to spend a lot more time merging my main talents. It’s never been easier to take any of the 100s of songs I’ve written and recorded over the past 30 years and reform them using modern music production technology. It’s actually quite insane. The main motif of The Jeffrey Epstein Podcast The Musical is actually the old podcast theme I wrote on synth about 5 years ago. It seemed appropriate. Because in this very special album, I start to tell the story of Jeffrey Epstein’s operation in a way which will hopefully do various things: I want to break the censorship algorithm by using the form of a parody comic musical, which I have seen used as a bridge on other occasions. I want to make the information from the Epstein case more accessible to the masses. Songs are a useful way of expressing an idea or notion which is complex for someone to appreciate in writing. I want to make people think. This is the start of telling a difficult story because the elements are vile. There are only a few ways to tackle such a subject, and it allows for an emotional juxtaposition. This project will not always be funny; some of it will be sad and thought-provoking. Parody helps swing you from one emotion to another and prepares the audience for an emotional journey that most refuse to take in everyday life. It will highlight the circus-like nature of the Epstein case. In the manufactured world of the Big Tech algorithms, the Epstein case is ridiculous and senseless. However, to a journalist who knows the entire story, it all makes a lot of sense. Parody is the best way to present an artistic expression of the real lived madness. It allows me to point out the famous Epstein associates who have been hiding their real and provable connections to the International Moneyman of Mystery. This is vital. I’ve written a lot about the connections between Jeffrey Epstein and people like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk. Everything gets hidden in the algorithm. In fact, at the same time as these people are having Big Tech platforms delist, geo-block and otherwise censor my work, I’m often left with only my music untouched. I want to entertain people. I know the Epstein case inside and out, and I’ve been lyric writing for 30 years. Combining the two is a no-brainer. Parody allows me to have fun, make jokes, and be silly. It allows me to make fun of the people who have also falsely represented my articles. During a takedown request to Substack, one Epstein associate claimed that I clearly said that she was “The Mossad”. This was simply because I reported on her involvement with Epstein in a company called Carbyne911, alongside the former heads of the IDF and Israel’s Unit 8200. I never definitively called her “the Mossad”, but I can make fun of her own false claims that misrepresented my work. Parody allows me to do another thing I love, comedy. I also love musical theatre. Don’t make judgments; we all have our weaknesses. This album is set to release on the 20th December, unless Ditto Music strikes again! February 2019 – Ofcom complaint result: UKLFI exposed as creation of Israeli foreign ministry – Bristol Post article: BCfm cleared after being reported to Ofcom for anti-semitic conspiracy theories – It could have resulted in BCfm radio station being shut down if the complaint was upheld Tony Gosling reported to Ofcom by UK Lawyers for Israel after being accused of anti-semitism A Bristol radio station, which had one of its programmes reported for anti-semitism and racism has been cleared by Ofcom. The radio regulatory body received a complaint from “UK Lawyers for Israel’ over a show on BCfm radio, hosted by investigative journalist Tony Gosling. The weekly politics show, on the popular community radio station based in Easton, was reported for several allegations on a show which aired on November 23. Tony Gosling, who was a former BBC journalist between 1989 and 1993, has been producing and presenting ‘The Tony Gosling Politics’ show every week on BCFM radio for 11 years. They have released a statement which reads: “Whilst we are supportive of all our volunteer presenters, The Tony Gosling Politics Show only represents approximately ten percent of our political output content wise, and less than two per cent of our entire weekly output.” Mr Gosling’s programme looks at local politics and he interviews a range of councillors and MPs in the city. The show is also perhaps more well known for its alternative look at international politics, and he has a cult following online from across the world. Mr Gosling has made regular appearances on national media including the politics show with Andrew Neil on BBC One, and international channels such as Russia Today, Channel1 Russia, NTV, and recently for both Turkish and Lebanon TV.
November 2012 – Tony gets death threats on the phone from the Jewish Defence League – ‘you’re a dead man walking’ – a man calls him and Tony records the call. Audio of UK Jewish Defence League (JDL) death threat against British journalist Tony Gosling (2012) – Avon and Somerset police Special Branch investigate, trace the caller, and after six months report to Tony that the individual has been served a caution that they will proceed with a prosecution for harassment under the 1861 offences against the person act. Seems pretty clear this death threat was issued alongside the lies, copied below, which were published on their blog by London based UK JDL in November 2012. Firstly Tony Gosling is not a ‘homophobe’. That accusation was first made in an article published by the ‘Harry’s Place’ blog, penned by Zionist David Toube and propelled by him anonymously into Private Eye in 2008. It refers to Gosling’s criticism of senior teachers at Bannerman Road Primary school in Bristol who used homosexual early learning picture books against the express wishes of the parent governors. His criticism was about the deception by teaching staff not because of the homosexual content of the books. Secondly, if you follow the JDL link you’ll find what Tony Gosling actually says about the ‘Protocols Of The Learned Elders Of Zion’ says “…I don’t think there is much doubt that the Protocols are fake…” Thirdly he is not a member of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and has never been to any of their meetings.
Autumn 2014 – Tony’s documentary production and distribution business shut down by its bank. Our thriving Co-op business bank account ordered closed for undisclosed reasons. Tony Gosling and Ben Edwards founded i-Contact Video Network to distribute documentaries on VHS video and DVD and to make their own documentaries as well as attend news events and sell video footage to TV news channels. Amongst the films we distributed were Operation Solstice, Coconut Revolution, Mark Purdey and Organophosphates, McLibel, 9/11 In Plane Site, Ludicrous Diversion and The Battle of Trafalgar. These, plus books, and even a board game about drug dealing ‘Dollars and Dibble’, were all available via mail order and we supplied libraries around the world too. The bank had clearly been ordered to investigate us for money laundering, although they never admitted it. All the questions they asked Ben and I were about proving our identity through passports etc.. When we did, yet more letters kept arriving demanding more proofs, birth certificates etc. and eventually when one of us missed supplying the required information, within a week or so of being asked, the account was summarily closed and we got a cheque made out to one of us with the few hundred pounds that was in the business bank account. Since neither of us could get a business bank account up and running for at least a few months and the bank account meant nobody could any longer use the website, we made the reluctant decision to shut it down. Thus was a thriving business killed off by the Co_operative bank. Having said that, co-op were not quite the worst. We did apply to open an account at Bristol’s ‘ethical’ Triodos bank, who proceeded to string us along for several months and then said our business was too risky for them to provide an account!
