Alarming footage shared on social media — and verified by The New York Times — showed a strike slamming into an area that houses several military sites, including the Israel Defense Forces’ main command center. The dramatic clips captured interceptor missiles firing into the sky moments before a blinding flash, a thunderous boom, and the explosion of an incoming warhead. The videos suggest that at least one Iranian missile breached Israel’s air defenses and hit a sensitive command site in the heart of Tel Aviv. “This is Israel’s version of the Pentagon, the Kiryat, and the building on this compound was just hit,” according to Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst, who was at the scene. Israel launched large-scale airstrikes against Iran Friday aimed at obliterating Iranian nuclear and military facilities, as well as a swath of top military commanders. IAEA Head: “We Did Not Have Any Proof” of Iran Building Nuclear Weapon “We did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon,” IAEA’s Rafael Grossi said. The head of the leading intergovernmental watchdog for nuclear energy and atomic weapons has confirmed that the agency has not found “any proof” of an effort to obtain a nuclear weapon by Iran, lending yet more evidence contradicting Israel’s “self-defense” narrative for its war on the country. In an interview this week, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said that, while it is possible that there are operations being kept secret from regulators, reports that Iran has not been actively pursuing a nuclear weapon since 2003 are accurate. Those claiming to know exact details about Iran moving toward a nuclear weapon are engaging in “speculation,” he told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “If there was some activity which was clandestine or hidden or away from our inspectors, we couldn’t know,” said Grossi. What the agency has reported, he said, is that “we did not have — as in coincidence with some of the sources you mentioned there — that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon.” This undercuts Israel’s claims that it has evidence that Iran is working to obtain a nuclear bomb. Israeli officials say they’re so sure of this that they have started a war supposedly in order to stop it from happening. These claims aren’t backed up by any other sources. As Tulsi Gabbard, the top intelligence official in President Donald Trump’s administration, has testified, U.S. intelligence officials have not found evidence of Iran moving toward a nuclear weapon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has suggested that Iran is actually pursuing a nuclear weapon in “secret”. But a lack of proof of a claim is hardly a legitimate reason to begin a war. Grossi’s clear reiteration of IAEA’s findings are significant as Netanyahu and pro-Israel lawmakers in the U.S. have used IAEA’s findings in order to justify the war, misleadingly using the agency’s reports as evidence of Iran working toward a nuclear bomb even as the agency has definitively said it has no evidence of that. For its part, Iran has long insisted that its nuclear development is for civilian purposes. IAEA has, indeed, found evidence that Iran possesses some of the elements needed for a nuclear bomb, but has emphasized that it has not found evidence for active bomb development.

Tulsi Gabbard Says Iran Not Believed To Be Building A Nuclear Weapon – The United States intelligence community has assessed that Iran is not currently building a nuclear weapon, according to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.  America’s spies say Iran wasn’t building a nuclear weapon. Trump dismisses that assessment WASHINGTON (AP) — Tulsi Gabbard left no doubt when she testified to Congress about Iran’s nuclear program earlier this year. The country was not building a nuclear weapon, the national intelligence director told lawmakers, and its supreme leader had not reauthorized the dormant program even though it had enriched uranium to higher levels. But President Donald Trump dismissed the assessment of U.S. spy agencies during an overnight flight back to Washington as he cut short his trip to the Group of Seven summit to focus on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. “I don’t care what she said,” Trump told reporters. In his view, Iran was “very close” to having a nuclear bomb. Trump’s statement aligned him with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has described a nuclear-armed Iran as an imminent threat, rather than with his own top intelligence adviser. Trump was expected to meet with national security officials in the Situation Room on Tuesday as he plans next steps. Gabbard brushed off the inconsistency, blaming the media for misconstruing her earlier testimony and asserting that “President Trump was saying the same thing that I said.” “We are on the same page,” she told CNN. Asked for comment, Gabbard’s office referred to those remarks. In her March testimony to lawmakers, Gabbard said the intelligence community “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.” She also said the U.S. was closely monitoring Iran’s nuclear program, noting that the country’s “enriched uranium stockpile is at its highest levels and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons.” Trump’s contradiction of Gabbard echoed his feuds with U.S. spy leaders during his first term, when he viewed them as part of a “deep state” that was undermining his agenda. Most notably, he sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018 when asked if Moscow had interfered in the 2016 election, saying Putin was “extremely strong and powerful in his denial.” The latest break over Iran was striking because Trump has staffed his second administration with loyalists rather than establishment figures. Gabbard, a military veteran and former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, was narrowly confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate because of her scant experience with intelligence or managing sprawling organizations. Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022 and endorsed Trump in last year’s election, is expected to testify Tuesday in a closed session on Capitol Hill, along with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, during a previously scheduled budget hearing. Both officials likely would face questions about their views on Iran and Trump’s latest statements. A representative for the CIA did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly warned that Iran has enough enriched uranium to make several nuclear bombs should it choose to do so. Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful.

Reform UK would win if general election held tomorrow, poll suggests Ipsos survey finds Nigel Farage’s party has a nine-point lead over Labour Reform UK has taken a dramatic nine-point lead over Labour, a new poll has revealed. The Ipsos survey showed Reform had 34 per cent of the vote share, compared to Labour’s 25 per cent. This means that if a general election were held tomorrow, Reform’s leader Nigel Farage would probably be elected prime minister. Meanwhile, the Conservatives had only 15 per cent of the estimated vote share in the lowest result ever recorded by Ipsos, and the highest ever for Reform. The figures from the polling of 1,180 people show Labour’s plunging popularity, after winning the 2024 general election with the biggest majority since Tony Blair. Only 19 per cent say they are satisfied with the work he is doing, while 73 per cent were dissatisfied, according to the poll. The figures showed that 54 per cent of Labour voters and 48 per cent of Tory voters have changed their support, with a high proportion of defectors from both going to Reform. If that played out, there would be just 10 Conservative seats while Labour would be reduced from 403 to 140. Gideon Skinner, senior director of UK politics at Ipsos, said: “The disappointment with Labour is clear, even among those who voted for the party in 2024. We know from Ipsos research how difficult it has been to shift entrenched public pessimism over the cost of living, immigration, and the state of public services. “So far, Britons do not think Labour is delivering the tangible change they were hoping for in 2024.” Earlier this month, Reform was hit with chaos after the man brought in by Nigel Farage to professionalise the party quit following a row with their newest MP. Zia Yusuf, a Muslim businessman, described new Runcorn MP Sarah Pochin as “dumb” after she challenged Sir Keir Starmer over the legality of women wearing the burqa in the UK during Prime Minister’s Questions. After fury broke out about his comment, Mr Yusuf, who had been the target of anger by many activists over several months, announced his resignation. He returned to the party in a new role two days later.

Reform UK calls for Thames Water to be renationalised – Populist party’s deputy leader says heavily indebted utility should ‘be put out of its misery’ Thames Water should be “put out of its misery” and renationalised, according to the deputy leader of Reform UK, in a sign that the backlash against water privatisation has become an increasingly populist issue. Richard Tice told the Financial Times that the situation at the heavily indebted UK utility was “completely untenable” and that City financiers were trying to “rip off consumers even more” with high interest loans and millions in fees. “It is essentially bust, capital projects are being delayed and it should be put out of its misery now,” he said. “There has to be moral hazard. Let it go into special administration for £1 and reorganise it to the benefit of taxpayers and consumers.” The comments by the deputy leader of the rightwing populist party came days after Thames Water — which provides water and sewerage services for 16mn households but is struggling under a £19bn debt mountain — warned that it risked running out of cash in the new year. Unless it can obtain a £3bn loan from creditors, Britain’s largest privatised water utility risks being temporarily renationalised under the government’s special administration procedure. The two-and-a-half year loan on offer from creditors, which requires approval in court next week, comes at a 9.75 per cent interest rate, with fees taking the real interest cost much higher. Reform’s call for renationalisation reflects a shift by populist parties around the world to focus on what they see as the extractive vices of global capitalism, including private equity investors, and their call for policies that have historically been more aligned with the left. In Hungary, Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party has reversed unpopular and costly water privatisations in Pécs and Budapest. In the US, meanwhile, vice-president elect JD Vance has called for more unionisation of workers in the private sector to protect jobs and drive up wages. The UK Labour government has said it favours a private-sector solution to the crisis at Thames over special administration, under which the state temporarily takes control of a company to ensure it remains in operation. This is in part because it is concerned that if Thames Water enters the special administration regime, leftwing MPs inside the governing party will call for all water companies to be permanently renationalised. In response to a growing public outcry over executive pay and sewage discharges, the UK Green party has called for public ownership of all water companies. The Liberal Democrats, Britain’s third-biggest party, has said Thames Water should be brought under special administration.

Israel bombs Iran’s state TV after threatening it would ‘disappear’ – The strike on the secure media compound during a live broadcast is highly symbolic as tensions between Israel and Iran soar. Israel has attacked the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB and interrupted a live broadcast with an explosion, marking another escalation in the conflict with Tehran and replicating its previous attacks on news media targets in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and Lebanon. TV anchor Sahar Emami denounced Monday’s “aggression against the homeland” and the “truth” as a blast went off and smoke and debris filled the screen. The footage then showed her fleeing the studio as a voice is heard calling, “God is greatest.” The attack came shortly after the Israeli military issued a threat for Tehran’s District Three, where IRIB’s headquarters is located, and Defence Minister Israel Katz said: “The Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappear.” Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei accused Israel of committing a “wicked act” that constitutes a war crime and of being the number one “killer of journalists and media people”. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has counted 178 journalists killed in Gaza by Israel since October 2023, making it the deadliest conflict for media workers ever recorded. “The UNSC [United Nations Security Council] must act now to stop the genocidal aggressor from committing further atrocities against our people,” Baghaei wrote on X. The CPJ said it was “appalled” by Israel’s attack on Iranian state TV and argued impunity for the killings of Palestinian journalists had “emboldened” the country to target media elsewhere. “This bloodshed must end now,” the organisation said on X. Peyman Jebelli, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), said the organisation’s headquarters was attacked because the Iranian media are “precisely targeting the depth of the enemy’s media strategy”. In a statement quoted by the semiofficial Mehr News Agency, he said employees at the national media outlet “loudly declare” their determination to play their roles in the “hybrid war” initiated by Israel.

AFRICOM’s attacks on Traoré backfire as Africans rally in his support As a revolutionary Pan-Africanist, President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso has grown popular among Africans worldwide as his ascent to power is viewed as one that rid the Sahelian nation of the shackles of French and Western hegemony. In a recent US Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Michael Langley, the head of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and U.S. Marine Corps General, accused Burkina Faso’s Transitional President Ibrahim Traoré of pervasive corruption, saying: “All the proceeds from Burkina Faso’s gold reserves are to protect the military junta regime.” This accusation sparked outrage amongst the worldwide African community, particularly among Pan-Africanists, who quickly took to the internet to express their discontent. Ibrahim Traoré and the leaders of neighbouring Mali and Niger – Assimi Goita and Abdourahamane Tchiani respectively – have been the current faces of Africa’s struggle against Western imperialism and have since formed a confederation known as the Alliance of Sahel States. Traoré’s supporters, regard the American general’s accusation as a provocation pointed towards the confederation, which they consider to be a bastion of African self-determination in the face of imperialist Western hegemony. What is truly rallying the global African community behind Traoré is his anti-imperialist and Pan-African stance. France and the West saw the loss of their foothold in Burkina Faso and the rest of the Sahel as a big hit to their international geopolitical strategy. This is because diminishing Western influence in the Sahel meant the expansion of the Russian sphere of influence, as Russia has now been for a while the West’s main rival in Africa. The apparent veracity of the ‘emergency bulletins’ – broadcast from a cramped studio in the back of an Edinburgh music shop – was bolstered by the preceding round-up of genuine cricket scores. The spoof culminated with accounts of ‘Mr Wutherspoon, Minister of Transport’ – a fictional name – being strung up from a lamppost and a ‘threatening’ crowd approaching the BBC’s London offices. A Priest and a panic.  In January 1926, 12 years before Orson Welles’s infamous War of the Worlds broadcast, the BBC sparked a national panic of its own... It broadcast a 12 minute report of a murderous riot in central London, which turned out to be a spoof, masterminded by a literary Catholic priest. This feature tells the so far untold story of the broadcast, puts it in historical context and explains its significance in the history of broadcasting. Significantly Lord Reith cared more about reaction from listeners than what the press or Government thought. In fairness to the congressman—fairness that Fine does not extend to Palestinians and Muslims—and in order to avoid a possible lawsuit for defamation[2] it is barely possible that when Fine said, “We nuked the Japanese twice in order to get unconditional surrender. That needs to be the same here,” the word that refers to unconditional surrender, not to “nuk[ing] the Japanese. If that is the case, then all Fine was calling for was Hamas’ unconditional surrender, not nuclear war on Gaza. However, every news story and commentary I have seen takes the position that Fine was calling for nuclear weapons to be used on Gaza. I think that’s a more likely interpretation. Fine has embraced the nickname the “Hebrew Hammer,” which will be a terrific stage name if Fine ever joins the WWE (perhaps Education Secretary Linda McMahon could arrange an interview). Fine has a history of hateful rhetoric toward Muslims and Palestinians. The debate over the identity of the modern-day political state comes as the number of young Evangelicals in the United States who support Israel and view it as a sign of the End Times is declining, as amillennial and postmillennial eschatology grows in popularity. The Jerusalem Post noted last year that one study found support for Israel among young Evangelicals has cratered by more than 50%, as laid out in the 2023 bookChristian Zionism in the Twenty-First Century: American Evangelical Opinion on Israel, by Kirill M. Bumin, Ph.D., and Motti Inbari, who serves as professor of Jewish Studies at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. According to data Bumin and Inbari presented at The Center for the Study of the United States (CSUS) at Tel Aviv University in February, just over 33% of young Evangelicals under 30 expressed support for Israel in late 2021, compared to nearly 68% in 2018. In 2021, more than 24% of young Evangelicals said they supported the Palestinians, compared to only 5% in 2018.

The British Ambassador to the UN stated that “While the UK voted in favour of this resolution, we wish to clarify that our long-standing position remains that there is no legal obligation on states to ensure respect for international law by third parties.” When the EOV was published, this part of the statement was bolstered by a reference to Common Article 1 of the Geneva Convention. I do not recall her actually saying this and it is not in my notes. Common Article 1 (so called because it is present in every one of the Geneva Conventions) reads: Article 1 The High Contracting Parties undertake to respect and to ensure respect for the present Convention in all circumstances. So why did the UK, and the UK alone, say that it is not responsible for ensuring that other parties comply with international law, adding later a specific reference to the Geneva Conventions? It is perfectly simple. Starmer and Lammy are terrified about future charges of complicity in Israeli war crimes. So the UK, only, feels it necessary to emphasise that they do not bear legal responsibility for Israel’s actions. They claim they are not responsible for what Israel did with the supplies of UK munitions, which the UK increased to fuel the genocide. They claim they are not responsible for what Israel did with the targeting information they gave Israel on a daily basis from RAF Akrotiri flights over Gaza. They claim they are not responsible for the Israeli use of weapons flown in through the UK and Akrotiri. They claim they are not responsible for use of the F-35 jets attacking Iran now, which they continue to supply with UK-manufactured spare parts. We simply do not yet know what else they have done to support Israel based on the secret UK-Israeli defence treaty, but whatever it is, Starmer and Lammy want to make absolutely plain that the UK had no responsibility to prevent Israel from committing war crimes. The claim that this is longstanding British policy is of course a rather frivolous bit of gaslighting. Indeed given that this argument runs completely counter to the doctrine of “the responsibility to protect” – of which the UK was the leading international proponent – it is simple nonsense. [As it happens I always opposed the “responsibility to protect” argument because it is used as an excuse for Imperialism, cf. the destruction of Libya.] The Genocide Convention in fact explicitly does create a duty on states to prevent genocide by third parties. Article I of the Genocide Convention reads: The Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time of peace or in time of war, is a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish. So the declaration by Starmer and Lammy of not bearing responsibility really does not wash. The interesting thing is that they felt compelled to make it. The evening after the debate I attended receptions hosted by both the British Ambassador and then by the Russian Ambassador, and I spoke to a large number of Ambassadors to the UN. Of course we discussed the debate, and everybody had noticed both the extraordinary and unusual addition to the UK statement and its motive. They all specifically realised it was an effort to back away from responsibility for complicity in Israeli crimes. I understand and share your disappointment at the collapse of international law. But I can tell you that the prospect of eventual retribution at the Hague still terrifies Starmer and Lammy. Netanyahu’s desperate gamble in attacking Iran is an attempt to force the USA to join the war on Israel’s behalf, and to prevent peace talks. It is of course simply untrue that Iran was about to produce a nuclear weapon. Every Spring a CIA-led US intelligence exercise formally reviews the situation, and the firm position of Five Eyes intelligence remains that Iran genuinely was not seeking to make a nuclear weapon.

The UK Parliament’s vote for abortion up to birth is absolute evil At first I did not take it seriously. I had heard the news that a couple of amendments to the Crime and Policing bill were coming to the UK Parliament to in effect allow abortion on demand up to birth. And I assumed that this was the work of the radical extremists who think that any woman should be allowed to kill her own child up to birth. I assumed that such an extreme measure would be overwhelmingly rejected. But I was wrong – and then some. Remember the days when we were told abortions needed to be legal in order to prevent backstreet abortions and to ensure the mother got proper medical care? That was apparently just an excuse, because now MPs think a woman should be able to have an abortion in her own home without any medical care or assessment. Why has this happened? The big picture is that the UK is in sharp decline, and our politicians represent that decline. They lack any significant moral compass or intellectual capacity to seriously think through these things. Consider this – the biggest change in abortion law for 60 years and they took 46 minutes to ‘debate’ it. These are people with the attention span of a gnat. Governed entirely by soundbites, emotive stories and the morality of a bot, it is little wonder that they have convinced themselves that killing viable babies in the womb is all about ‘healthcare’ and ‘reproductive rights’. They are similar to the politicians who during the anti-slavery debate argued that slavery was about ‘economic rights’. The stupidity is breathtaking. I saw the commentator Paul Mason tweet that this Bill would be a blow for misogynists, clearly oblivious to the fact that the Bill now allows sex-selective abortion. Is there anything more misogynistic than killing a baby girl just because she is a girl? The dishonesty and lies are also astonishing. For example, Dr Sonia Adesara lied to Julia Hartley-Brewer on her show when she stated “we’re not changing what a woman is allowed to do” when that is precisely what the Bill is doing. Others have suggested that this is not making abortion legal and therefore nothing has really changed. But they are sophists playing with words in order to justify taking lives. If breaking into my house is not illegal, then you will feel free to break into my house because you are not doing anything illegal when you do so. Where does this shocking vote leave us? The culture of death in the UK is more deeply engrained than I thought. For people who claim to be humanists we seem to like killing humans a lot. As regards the Church it should with one voice be standing up and declaring that we will not go down the route of Baal or Molech, sacrificing our children to the idols of the contemporary West. We must speak out with a prophetic voice against this evil and warn, with tears in our eyes, of the judgement to come. One day these MPs will stand before a greater court than the Supreme Court, and a higher judge than the electorate. Meanwhile let us weep and mourn for today’s post-Christian, pagan Britain. A Britain where you can get sent to jail for a tweet but kill your own baby the day before she is born. A Britain where praying near an abortion centre is illegal but killing a baby up to birth is legal. A Britain where God is mocked, his word abused, and humans destroyed. I can think of no better reaction than that of the Psalmist in Psalm 119:136: “Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.”

The radio regulatory body received a complaint from “UK Lawyers for Israel’ over a show on BCfm radio, hosted by investigative journalist Tony Gosling. The weekly politics show, on the popular community radio station based in Easton, was reported for several allegations on a show which aired on November 23. Tony Gosling, who was a former BBC journalist between 1989 and 1993, has been producing and presenting ‘The Tony Gosling Politics’ show every week on BCFM radio for 11 years. They have released a statement which reads: “Whilst we are supportive of all our volunteer presenters, The Tony Gosling Politics Show only represents approximately ten percent of our political output content wise, and less than two per cent of our entire weekly output.” Mr Gosling’s programme looks at local politics and he interviews a range of councillors and MPs in the city. The show is also perhaps more well known for its alternative look at international politics, and he has a cult following online from across the world. Mr Gosling has made regular appearances on national media including the politics show with Andrew Neil on BBC One, and international channels such as Russia Today, Channel1 Russia, NTV, and recently for both Turkish and Lebanon TV.

It refers to Gosling’s criticism of senior teachers at Bannerman Road Primary school in Bristol who used homosexual early learning picture books against the express wishes of the parent governors. His criticism was about the deception by teaching staff not because of the homosexual content of the books. Secondly, if you follow the JDL link you’ll find what Tony Gosling actually says about the ‘Protocols Of The Learned Elders Of Zion’ says “…I don’t think there is much doubt that the Protocols are fake…” Thirdly he is not a member of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and has never been to any of their meetings.

Ms Reeves said this represents a rise in real-terms of around 3% each year as she described the crisis-hit NHS as the public’s “most treasured” public service. AFFORDABLE HOUSING BOOST: Hundreds of thousands of new affordable homes will be built over the next decade under a £39billion package announced today. Ms Reeves described it as the “biggest cash injection” in 50 years. During today’s statement the Chancellor said it will help turn the tide on the country’s housing crisis. It also forms part of the pledge to build 1.5million new homes by 2029. WINTER FUEL U-TURN DETAILS: OAPs with an income of £35,000 or below in England and Wales will receive the benefit this winter. It is a major uplift from the current £11,500 cut-off point announced last summer. It means nine million pensioners will now be eligible for the winter support. Around two million pensioners whose income is above £35,000 will have the payment automatically recovered or can opt out from receiving it. BUS FARE CAP AND SCHOOLS: Bus passengers will be protected from fare hikes as the £3 cap on single tickets was extended. In a major boost for bus users, Ms Reeves Reeves said she will protect the nationwide price cap on single trips, which had been due to run out at the end of the year. The cost-of-living lifeline will now be in place across England until March 2027. Single fares could rise by up to £12 in the worst hit areas if the cap is lifted. The Department for Transport previously said a journey between Leeds and Scarborough could cost £15, while a fare from Hull to York would hit £8.50. In a major boost to low income families, the Chancellor said free school meals will be extended to more than half a million children. DEFENCE SPENDING: In an “age of insecurity” the Chancellor said defence spending will rise to 2.6% of GDP by 2027. She said the figure includes spending on intelligence agencies. “We will make Britain a defence industrial superpower,” Ms Reeves vowed. Keir Starmer previously set out plans to hike defence spending to 2.5% – paid for by slashing billions of pounds from the overseas aid budget. NUCLEAR POWER: The government announced over £14billion worth of investment will go towards building the Sizewell C nuclear power plant on the Suffolk coast. The Treasury said the move – championed by Keir Starmer earlier this week – will help create 10,000 jobs and hundreds of apprenticeships. The Chancellor said today it will also power six million homes. Mr Nelson said the council needed to do better, both for the Downs and the local residents, but also for the van dwellers themselves. “We got together because the council weren’t taking action, with an attitude of anything goes. They don’t even know how many vans are here, they’ve got an estimate for the whole of Bristol, but on the Downs how many are there that are occupied. The answer is not all of them. “A lot of them are used for drug-dealing, there’s slum-letting going on, and there’s all sorts of horrible stories about people being pushed into those vans, so we just don’t know what’s going on, and neither do the council, which is the point,” he added. “We’re trying to get the council to go and find the truly homeless, help them, and all these other people on the bandwagon, we need to move them on, because they’ve come from all over the UK because Bristol is a soft touch,” he added. The city council’s position, explained by Cllr Parsons at the public meeting in March, at City Hall and in several statements on the issue this year so far, is that the issue of van-dwellers is a city-wide one, and the city council has to sort it across the city, not just on the Downs. “The number of people living in vehicles and caravans in Bristol has grown significantly in recent years and we recognise the challenges this growth in the size and number of encampments raises for our city,” said Cllr Parsons. “We have to acknowledge it’s a complex situation, and one I and others have spoken about on many occasions in the past twelve months. “Fundamentally we want to make sure that all communities, including those living in vehicles or caravans, and those in homes in neighbourhoods, have a meaningful and fair chance to live healthy and safe lives. This means we need to take action on a number of fronts to make sure we are balancing the needs of everyone, whilst prioritising our efforts where the need is greatest,” he added. The previous Labour administration brought in a policy and process which saw van dwelling groups ranked by council officers on the impact their presence was having on local residents or businesses. The council would only act, as it did in Greenbank, if it was deemed to be a ‘high impact’. So far at least, the council has assessed the 130-odd caravans and vans on the Downs as ‘medium’. The long-term answer, for Cllr Parsons and Bristol City Council, is to create more ‘meanwhile sites’ – official places where van dwellers can park up, which have proper services like sanitation and waste collection. The council wants to create spaces for 250 vans, but they are likely to be on places like the Northern Slopes between Knowle West and Bedminster, Hengrove Park, in South Bristol, or other areas away from the city centre.

Richard Tice, deputy leader of the party, wrote to Andrew Bailey, the governor of the Bank of England, over the weekend, claiming that the Bank was prioritising the “enriching of City institutions” at the expense of the public. Under the Bank’s quantitative easing (QE) programme, which lasted from 2009 to 2021, about £895 billion was created by buying bonds from commercial lenders, which then deposited the money they received at the central bank. Interest is paid on these reserves, which stand at about £700 billion, at the base rate of 4.25 per cent. • Mehreen Khan: The Treasury, the Bank and a saving they could make tomorrow Reform wants the Bank to do away with these interest payments. Other advocates of cutting reserve remuneration in the UK include Gordon Brown, the former prime minister, and two former deputy governors of the Bank, Sir Paul Tucker and Sir Charlie Bean. Some, including Gertjan Vlieghe, a former member of the monetary policy committee, have said that to stop paying the full interest rate could be tantamount to a debt default. But Tice, in his letter, said “that is simply untrue”, and added: “This money was created out of thin air by the Treasury and the Bank of England to support the economy during two periods of acute national stress over the past 18 years. It was never the property of City institutions. It is no coincidence that commercial bank profits have soared as interest rates rose as the Bank of England paid out tens of billions of this voluntary interest. These institutions cannot believe their luck.”

Its ailments cannot be cured. The only way to resurrect what was once valuable in leftist politics is to declare the left dead and begin from the beginning again. Winlow and Hall identify the root causes of its maladies, describe how new cultural obsessions displaced core unifying principles and explore the yawning chasm that now separates the left from the working class. Drawing upon a wealth of historical evidence to structure their story of entryism, corruption, fragmentation and decline, they close the book by outlining how a new reincarnation of the left can win in the 21st century. A clear and cutting call-to-action. Since the collapse of the Corbyn project in 2019, I’ve wanted to read something like this – and I think that Winlow and Hall are very successful here in articulating just what the state-of-play is. Modern Monetary Policy and new western green industrialisation are the way forward baby. They discuss the legendary Ernest Bevin, who in the 1940s, although decidedly not a communist and very much a supporter of working with the Americans, was also a supporter of the national liberation of the British colonies. Bevin was passionate about the welfare of the working class in Britain, worked as “to improve their lot. People needed to be given a chance to grow, make progress and provide for their families. Bevin knew all too well that the poor were overwhelmingly willing to work and keen to support themselves. And there was not a trace of liberal relativism in Bevin’s socialism. The lives of the working class would improve if they received a higher wage and better conditions” (Winlow & Hall; 2023: 81). While the “traditional left was worldly” (Winlow & Hall; 2023: 81) in a way embodied by Bevin, a new left informed by Post-Modernism, and concerns about minority rights, pulled the focus away from the communitarian ones of the old Labour Party. To the extent that this new neoliberal left was worldly it with an individualism which fitted neatly with the new economic zeitgeist of a global unipolar world – both in economics, and in support of Washington’s reach into other people’s countries. The curse of these people’s foreign policy focus is dealt with by John Mearsheimer in “Great Delusion: Liberal Dreams and International Realties” (2018), as he shows how the desire to remake the world in their own image has given support to the American perpetual war machine in Iraq, Libya, Syria and Ukraine. Another reviewer of “The Death of the Left”, whose academic focus is on western intelligence agencies, took this unipolar-supporting position in criticising the authors for not mentioning Putin’s invasion of Russia. This is typical of the unipolar world-supporting types that Winlow & Hall are criticising – if you don’t fall in with their views of what is important, you are written off as a “national socialist” or not getting on board with the Pentagon’s Zelensky-praise campaign. The fact is that “Death of the Left” is focused on domestic politics, and not foreign policy. They don’t mention Ukraine, because it is not their focus. The don’t mention Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan or Syria either. But when you take the focus to developing the national economy, you attract the ire of the establishment which supports a global neoliberalism and a Pentagon with a global reach. The western media does not see the Post-Modern left as a threat, because they are not. Slavoj Zizek is no threat to the Globalist: neoliberal or Pentagon. But Winlow and Hall are. Which is why it is worth reading Winlow and Hall. If their ideas take hold, we stand a very real chance of returning to the levels of development achieved in the Keynesian era from 1945 until the 1970s. I wish them the best in their quest to “begin from the beginning again”. All strength to them.

Hannah Borno reports live from Stockholm, where Bilderberg Meeting is taking place. China haunts Bilderberg talks as usual suspects plot world domination… The corporate, political and tech bigwigs meeting in Sweden are worried about an ‘authoritarian axis’ – maybe AI drones will fix things? Though the name “China” doesn’t actually appear on this year’s agenda, the heightening struggle between America and China is a spectre which haunts at least half of the topics being discussed – from the “geopolitics of energy and critical minerals” to “defence innovation and resilience”. Just a couple of months ago, Eric Schmidt, the former Google boss and longtime Bilderberg board member, warned that “China is at parity or pulling ahead of the United States in a variety of technologies, notably at the AI frontier”. Schmidt suspects that it will be only a matter of “three to five years” before some form of super-intelligent AI is achieved. “The geopolitical stakes, especially in the race with China, are enormous,” he says, because attaining super-intelligent AI would mean total and unassailable military domination. In short, it would give the winner “the keys to control the entire world”. But here’s the problem – “due to the immense power requirements of large-scale AI”, beating China to the super-intelligent punch would require “potentially 100 times more energy” than is currently available. The head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, who is conferencing this year at Bilderberg, recently posted on X that “global electricity demand from data centres powering AI is set to soar in the next decade”. In this desperate winner-takes-all race for the keys to the world, in which the “geopolitics of energy” becomes ever more important, power stations – along with the data centers they feed – are going to become the No 1 military targets. Cue the AI drones. For the time being, before AI invents completely new and unimagined ways for us all to kill each other, drones are perhaps the biggest practical application of AI in warfare. There’s a healthy swarm of drone manufacturers at this year’s Stockholm summit, sharing their hopes and fears about “defence innovation”. Hovering alongside Eric Schmidt there’s the chairman of Thales – “a leader in the fast growing market of unmanned aircraft systems”. Buzzing nearby is Gundbert Scherf, co-founder of German drone and AI company Helsing. One of the early investors in Helsing is also present: the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, which presumably means that the Helsing drones will have the best playlists, booming out suggested songs as they swoop down to attack.Usual tech entrepreneurs there, as AI and war are big on the agenda. AI is a similarly dependent being. It is a simulacrum of human intelligence and language, capacities of thought and speech the Greeks called logos. But AI lacks essential elements of human logos: its embeddedness in the world through birth in a body bound for death, and the moral and intellectual interiority that makes the human being an image of God. Speech is a living voice that springs from the soul — to give interiority its biblical name — embedded in body of an existing individual. But AI is not a living being, and it replaces inner plenitude with mechanical, algorithmic emptiness. Embeddedness in space and time expresses itself as concern for, and responsiveness to, the actual conditions of existence, the biblical paradigm of which is Adam’s naming of the animals who live alongside him in Eden. But while AI requires material substrates — servers and other hardware — it inhabits them in purely occasional and contingent ways, like the demons that beg Christ to pass from the mad Galilean to the herd of pigs. Its relationship with actuality is equally contingent. It exists in a digital cloud of pure possibility, where it arranges information according to no criterion of truth besides probability and the rules of logic. That’s why ChatGPT and other LLMs are so prone to hallucinations, like citing books that exist only in Borges’s fictional, virtually infinite Library of Babel. Yet, like the sham philosopher and bad citizen Plato calls “the sophist”, who is equally indifferent to truth, AI has a seemingly divine ability to imitate virtually anything with lifelike plausibility and vividness, and in multiple media. The market, whose whims have for decades guided the world’s best software engineers, has made this soulless capacity of representation, tailored to the tastes of the individual consumer, available to almost everyone on the planet. It has taught us to spend hours every day in its virtual reality, entertaining or distracting ourselves with the shadows it casts on the walls of our own private caves. Yet, using AI for more serious purposes is no less a Faustian bargain. Every advance AI makes in serving our desires degrades fundamental human capacities and gives it more mastery over human beings. Using AI to navigate makes us less capable navigators. Using AI to write makes us less capable writers. Using it to make decisions weakens our executive capacities of judgement and action. Peak AI, ministering to the inner emptiness and boredom of atomised, directionless selves, will mean peak human debility and enslavement. Aren’t these the goals of the Antichrist — which, whatever form it may take, always seeks to remake human beings in its own image?

Container drones training IDF – Declassified.  UK defence ministry ‘currently’ training Israeli army personnel Defence ministry admits it continues to train Israeli personnel despite allegations of war crimes The UK is “currently” involved in training members of the Israeli army on British soil, according to Ministry of Defence officials. In response to a question from a Labour MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces admitted the training was ongoing despite government concerns over Israel’s assault on Gaza. “As part of routine defence engagement with Israel, the UK is currently training a limited number of Israeli Defence Forces personnel on UK-based training courses,” Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard said on Wednesday. The UK has been largely supportive of Israel during its war on Gaza, which began in October 2023. This is despite allegations of genocide and war crimes committed by Israeli soldiers against Palestinian civilians. The 1936 fire which brought London’s spectacular  Crystal Palace to the ground took place during a two-month November/December 1936 trial of the two Baird and Marconi/EMI television systems by the BBC at Alexander Palace on the opposite side of London. The Baird laboratories occupied over 40,000 square feet of space under the south of the Crystal Palace and the South water tower which was used to power the fountains and as a high point for television transmitters. Six weeks after the catastrophic fire which destroyed the research laboratories and studios of the Baird company, in January 1937, the BBC decided it would use the Marconi/EMI system into the future, which continued beyond the introduction of BBC2 and 625 lines colour television in 1967  – John Logie Baird is reported to have suspected the fire was a deliberate act of sabotage against his work on developing television – A most spectacular conflagration lit up the London skyline on the night of the 30th November 1936, when the Crystal Palace, together with the Baird complex, was burnt to the ground. Only the South Tower, the School of Arts and the Rotunda in the Palace Grounds survived. It represented a catastrophe for the company, only slightly eased by the insurance pay-out of 80,000 Pounds, about 1.8 million pounds in today’s money. Fortunately all the equipment purchased by the BBC for Alexandra Palace had been delivered six months earlier. The School of Arts had been producing the T5 mirror lid receiver during the past year and work on these continued. In the Rotunda 12, 15 and 22-inch diameter picture tubes were manufactured under the Cathovisor trade mark, in the gallery of this old building the vacuum physics department designed and produced split-anode magnetrons for the microwave-relay system, projection tubes capable of throwing a 13 ft. by 10 ft. television picture on a cinema screen and monoscopes (still picture tubes).

Crystal Palace burns down in 1935 – Logie Baird, inventor of TV, thought it was deliberate to destroy his ideas, so Marconi’s could take precedence, who was based in Alexander Palace. Baird in the meantime was employed elsewhere on Air Ministry projects secretly equipping bombers. In 1936 the Ministry approached Captain A.G.D. West, chief engineer of the Baird Company and himself an ex-radio intelligence officer. They wanted a television guidance system to direct bombers from above the clouds. West informed the Ministry that the Baird Company had business ties with Fernseh AG in Germany and under the agreement of their partnership, exchanges of technical information were mandatory. However, it was noted that the German government had taken control of all television, declaring that all future development was to be a state secret. Since then, Fernseh was soaking up all the information they could from the Baird Company without giving anything in return. An Air Ministry file in the Public Records Office reveals that the Baird Company were contracted to develop a bomber guidance system for the French government and possibly for the Russians too. Both contracts had British government approval. In Germany, Baird’s activities were already under close scrutiny and for a country that was preparing for war, the Baird Company, working closely for Germany’s intended enemies, would have been a prime target. During the period when the company undertook secret work, it would almost certainly have attracted the attention of German agents. The German leadership was only too aware of the importance of television and its closeness to radar and other detection systems. This might lead one to the possible assumption that the fire at the Crystal Palace was not caused, as has been surmised in the past, by a mere electrical fault. The fire brought about massive disruption to the company’s Air Ministry work, and Baird himself was convinced that this was nothing less than an act of sabotage.

Explosions were reported in Iran’s capital Tehran at about 03:30 local time (01:00 BST) on Friday. Iranian state TV said residential areas in Tehran were hit, with blasts also heard north-east of the capital. In Israel, residents were woken by air raid sirens around the same time and received emergency phone alerts. Israel’s military said it had struck “dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in different areas of Iran”. Hours after the initial strikes, an explosion was reported at the Natanz nuclear facility, which is located about 225km (140 miles) south of the capital, according to Iranian state media. The IDF later confirmed it had struck the site and said its attack had resulted in significant damage. The global nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said it was informed by Iranian authorities that there has been no increase in radiation levels at the Natanz plant. IAEA head Rafael Grossi said nuclear facilities “must never be attacked” and such strikes have “serious implications for nuclear safety, security and safeguards, as well as regional and international peace and security”.

David Cameron, then foreign secretary in Rishi Sunak’s Conservative government, made the threat in April 2024 in a heated phone call with Karim Khan, the British chief prosecutor of the court. Less than a month later, Khan announced that he was seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his then-defence minister, Yoav Gallant, as well as for Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Deif. Cameron told Khan that applying for warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant would be “like dropping a hydrogen bomb”. Cameron said it was one thing to investigate and prosecute Russia for a “war of aggression” on Ukraine, but quite another to prosecute Israel when it was “defending itself from the attacks of 7 October”. He claimed the warrants would have “profound implications” in Britain and within his own Conservative Party. Cameron then said that if the ICC issued warrants for Israeli leaders, the UK would “defund the court and withdraw from the Rome Statute”. Cameron, who currently sits as a Conservative peer in the House of Lords, the upper house of the UK parliament, accused the prosecutor of singling Israel out. He asked why Khan’s office had not “prosecuted Iran for its attacks on Israel”. Cameron further said that if the ICC issued the warrants, the UK would be “required to arrest” Netanyahu if he travelled to the country. Khan told Cameron that his office had engaged with Israel for the past three years, but it had “not resulted in any meaningful exchange of material relevant to investigations”. According to MEE’s sources, the foreign secretary spoke aggressively and repeatedly shouted over Khan, who had to ask to be able to complete his points. The prosecutor noted that his office was investigating crimes committed by Hamas as well as Israel, but Cameron said this was drawing a “moral equivalence” between the two. He stated again that the UK would withdraw from the Rome Statute. Khan replied that “if this were to occur then we would have to accept that the rules-based system would be dead”. Cameron insisted that “the world is not ready for this”. He told Khan he was “on the brink of making a huge mistake. You sometimes need to take a step back and consider things”. But Khan refused to back down and continued defending his position. He said there was a “serious risk” that many in the world would view the rules-based order as “not being applied equally”. Khan thanked the foreign secretary for his call and the conversation ended without the two reaching any resolution.

Jeremy Corbyn on the pressure put on him to support Israel. Corbyn – who is running as an independent candidate at the General Election – said during an interview with Declassified UK co-founder Matt Kennard that he was confronted with the request at an “extremely hostile” meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party Committee and declined. He said: “During one extremely hostile meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party Committee they confronted me and said will you give a blanket undertaking that you, as party leader and potentially prime minister, will automatically support any military action Israel undertakes? “And I said no, I will give no such undertaking, because the issue of Palestine has to be resolved and Palestinian people do not deserve to live under occupation, and the siege of Gaza has created such incredible stress. “By the way I’ve been there on nine occasions in Israel, Palestine and the West Bank.” He had been suspended by Labour since 2020 after he refused to fully accept the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s findings that the party broke equality law when he was in charge and said antisemitism had been “dramatically overstated for political reasons”. Corbyn has been a prolific campaigner for Palestine and has hit out at the UK Government for continuing to supply arms to Israel. In an interview with The National earlier this year, he said he wished he “understood” Britain and America’s seemingly unflinching support for Israel. Corbyn went on to say he was shocked at the remarks made to him which seemed “to undermine the whole principle of international law”. “When the Israeli forces started attacking Gaza after October 7, October 7 was wrong and the response of killing tens of thousands of people doesn’t bring anybody back and has created the hatred and the wars of tomorrow and the year after and the year after,” he added. “So was I surprised at this support for Israel? No, because the pressure of Israel on the Israeli government, on the Labour Party, is huge. “But then again there’s also some wonderful people in Israel who very bravely oppose what their government is doing and oppose the occupation. But I was absolutely shocked when remarks were made which appear to me to undermine the whole principle of international law. The bombing of civilian targets is a war crime.”

Our fight is against the murderous Islamic regime that oppresses and impoverishes you,” Netanyahu said. “The time has come for the Iranian people to unite around its flag and its historic legacy, by standing up for your freedom from the evil and oppressive regime,” he added. “This is your opportunity to stand up and let your voices be heard.” Iran’s regime is oppressive. It hangs poets and journalists, gasses schoolgirls for protesting against being forced to wear head scarves and takes foreigners hostage. It has backed murderous campaigns by Hamas, created the militia-cum-mafia that is modern Hezbollah, and used the Houthis of Yemen to destabilise world trade through the Red Sea. These are “military” operations, and so, for now, Israel is focusing its efforts on Iran’s military officers and capabilities. The message from Israel, though, to politicians and surviving soldiers, is that the smart money lies in removing the mullahs who have ruled Iran before Israel kills them, or another revolution sweeps every element of the current system away.

The ultra-Orthodox parties are furious that the government has failed to pass a law exempting their community from mandatory military service, an issue that has long divided the Jewish Israeli public, especially during the 20-monthlong war in the Gaza Strip. While many expect a last-minute compromise, the vote is the most serious challenge to Netanyahu’s government since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack, the biggest security failure in Israel’s history. The opposition submitted a bill to dissolve the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. In response, coalition members submitted numerous bills, packing Wednesday’s schedule and buying time for last-minute negotiations. The dissolution vote, if it is not pulled, is expected to take place late at night. Separately, Argentina’s President Javier Milei will address the Knesset on Wednesday. The bill must pass another three readings before parliament is dissolved, a process that could take days or weeks. Even if the bill passes, it could take weeks or months for new elections to be called. If the bill fails, another vote for dissolution cannot be brought again by the opposition for at least six months. The opposition could still pull the bill if there isn’t enough support and submit it again in the coming weeks. Netanyahu’s coalition includes two ultra-Orthodox parties, and both would need to support the dissolution bill for it to pass. On Tuesday, top ultra-Orthodox, or Haredi, rabbis issued a religious decree emphasizing their stand against military service, which complicates the Haredi politicians’ ability to negotiate. Military service is mandatory for most Jews in Israel, but the politically powerful ultra-Orthodox, who make up roughly 13% of Israeli society, have traditionally received exemptions if they are studying full-time in religious seminaries. The ultra-Orthodox, also known as Haredim, or “God-fearing” in Hebrew, say that integrating into the army threatens their traditional way of life.

Tata cited £1m daily losses before the blast furnaces were shut off. “A Reform UK Senedd will also save hundreds of millions each year by cutting bureaucracy, waste and bad management. The establishment of Welsh DOGE will help us uncover where there is woke and wasteful spending and we will make sure those funds are redirected to frontline services,” stressed Mr Farage. At the press briefing, Mr Farage targeted the contentious 20mph speed limit initiative, vowing to scrap it, whilst expressing scepticism over the activation of the electric arc furnace at Port Talbot’s Tata Steel plant, asserting instead his strategy to “reindustrialise Wales”. Zinsser correctly described many details of the blast wave, electromagnetic effects, and multiple colors from beta decay of the fission products in the mushroom cloud that were not public knowledge at that time. After investigating Zinsser’s story for a few months, the United States upgraded his interrogation report from secret to top secret. A number of German, Polish, and U.S. intelligence sources reported a second test in Poland in or around November 1944. Currently available documents do not name the test site; Germany had weapons testing areas scattered all over Poland during the war. According to several of the sources, German forces placed many concentration camp prisoners at the test site as human guinea pigs, then delivered the bomb by air, with predictably tragic effects. U.S. Justice Robert Jackson even described this incident at the 1946 Nuremberg trial of Albert Speer. Again, more detailed reports remain unavailable. The final two reported German nuclear weapons tests occurred in March (some sources report March 4 and 12) 1945 somewhere in Thuringia, most likely at the large and relatively isolated Ohrdruf military base. As with the Polish test, German forces reportedly placed concentration camp prisoners around the test site. These March 1945 tests are described in considerable detail by a series of wartime and postwar Soviet intelligence documents at the highest levels. Those details were independently confirmed after the war by Werner Grothmann. The tests are also mentioned in U.S. intelligence documents, although any details remain classified. It appears that all these test explosions were kept as small as possible by using as little fission and fusion fuel as required, in order to conserve weapons-grade fuel, to try to maintain secrecy, and minimize the mess made on German-controlled territory. Each test had a yield on the order of a kiloton or even less, even though the medium weapon design probably could have delivered tens of kilotons with a full load of fuel. After eight decades, the resulting radioactivity would have decayed around a billion-fold, making it far below the levels of natural background radiation and undetectable with a Geiger counter now. If Germany possessed nuclear weapons, why did it not use them against the Allies? Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill made repeated public threats that if Germany employed any kinds of weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. and U.K. would respond by dropping vast amounts of mustard agent and other weapons on Germany, which could have killed millions of German civilians. Clearly, that successfully deterred Germany from using its stockpiles of nerve gas, other chemical weapons, biological weapons, and fuel-air explosives. According to several independent sources in Hitler’s inner circle, it also successfully dissuaded Germany from employing its nuclear weapons before the end of the war.

The NHS is facing one of the toughest moments in its history, with the waiting list for routine hospital care at nearly 7.6 million and public satisfaction with the NHS at an all-time low. An anonymous document published by American Intelligence Media stated that Larry Summers, then Harvard President, was in charge of the “government-sponsored military weaponization of a cyber-warfare project” which gave rise to Facebook. He wrote that Larry Summers “called Mark into his office early in his freshman year… Summers asked Mark to start a group to work on the social media project – a supposed competition among teachers and students to win a government contract. The ostensible goal was to create a social directory and Harvard where people could share in small groups. He is bringing in the younger crowd of high tech billionaires the CIA and NSA will need to end anonymity on the Internet and then close down free speech. It should be noted that he is not an engineer. He is a lawyer and Stanford graduate. He worked as a derivatives trader and runs a Hedge Fund. He owned 10.2% of Facebook pre IPO. Thiel is a founder of PayPal which shuts down service to those who practice free speech on the Internet. He was an early investor in Facebook. PayPal has been linked by John Cruz to money laundering. He is a Libertarian. He defended Trump during the elections. He said: “Everyone says Trump is going to change everything way too much,” says the famed venture capitalist, contrarian and member of the Trump transition team. “Well, maybe Trump is going to change everything way too little. That seems like the much more plausible risk to me.”

Massive Reform gains in Hamilton by-election. How the vote share compares with the 2021 Scottish election published at 08:31 6 June Here’s a reminder of how the party’s performed last night – and how this compares to results from the last Scottish Parliament election in 2021. It was a very close result with Reform pushing the Conservatives into fourth place. It’s also worth noting that Labour’s vote share has declined slightly. He says this by-election always looked “likely to be a close contest and that’s what it’s proven to be” and anyone following Scottish opinion polls won’t have been overly surprised at the result. But he says the outlook is not quite as optimistic as Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar would hope looking ahead to next year. He says current polls, which proved to be quite accurate last night, show the SNP running at just over 30% of the vote nationwide, while Labour are sitting at around 20%. “Such a result would not mean that Anas Sarwar would be Scotland’s next first minister,” he says. 44.2% of the electorate voted in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse yesterday, meaning over 27,000 votes were cast – which is quite high for a by-election. When voters in the constituency last voted in a Scottish election, back in 2021, turnout was around 60% – which is a 16% drop in the total number of votes cast. The time before that, in the 2016 elections, turnout was 50.3% and in 2011 it was 45.3%. Lower turnout can be expected when it’s not a nationwide vote. This is a good result for Scottish Labour. Their position in the polls has slipped considerably since last year’s general election, and they’ve often found themselves on the defensive when it comes to controversial UK Labour policies, such as cuts to winter fuel payments. Despite all that, they’ve taken the Holyrood seat of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse from the SNP. This result will be a massive boost to party activists, politicians, and leader Anas Sarwar. Even after the polls closed the SNP seemed quietly confident of victory. Leader John Swinney had claimed that only his party could beat Reform in this seat. But Labour confounded expectations somewhat and their newest MSP, Davy Russell, is off to Holyrood.

BBC QT – Mark Serwotka having a go at Starmer.Misunderstanding Russian stance.  Strategic Defence Review: The key points of plan to create ’10 times more lethal’ British Army Key points at a glance as Prime Minister and Defence Secretary unveil plan to keep Britain safe against rise in foreign threats – Defence Secretary Mr Healey has pledged to “create a British Army which is 10 times more lethal”, by combining capabilities with air-defence, long-range weapons and other technologies. – The review has been drawn up with the Government’s commitment to increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 in mind, and the authors say they are “confident” that it is “affordable over ten years”. However they say that given the “turbulent times it may be necessary to go faster”. – Russia has been described as “an immediate and pressing threat”, as the invasion of Ukraine “makes unequivocally clear its willingness to use force to achieve its goals”. The report also states that Moscow’s “war economy, if sustained, will enable it to rebuild its land capabilities more quickly” in the event of a ceasefire. – China is labelled a “sophisticated and persistent challenge”. The review warns that Beijing is “likely to continue seeking advantage through espionage and cyber attacks” and is expected to have 1,000 nuclear warheads by 2030. – The UK is already experiencing attacks targeting critical national infrastructure, and a war could see attempts to disrupt the economy as well as efforts to manipulate information and undermine community cohesion. – As well as looking to prioritise a shift towards working with AI and autonomous systems, the MoD should invest in the UK’s resilience of military space systems. – A “small uplift” in the number of Army regulars should be prioritised when the funding allows, and the number of active reserves should be increased by 20% when there is the money, which is likely to be in the 2030s. – Personnel in back-office roles should also be moved into front-line roles with automation taking over a portion of jobs such as HR and finance. – When it comes to Army recruitment there should be a focus on speed, helping potential recruits get from the point of expressing an interest to beginning work more quickly. Officials should also look to the “gap year” model used in Australia, the report suggests. – The review promotes an Integrated Force Model, looking to breakdown distinctions between the Army, Navy and RAF to get them to a position where they are working as a combined operation. That comes after a change in April, which saw the Chief of Defence Staff become the commanding officer of all of the service chiefs. – More F-35 fighter jets will be required in the next decade, ministers have been told, and could mean a mix of those which are able to operate from an aircraft carrier and those which are not. – Ministers have been told they should do more to ensure that the permanent joint headquarters at Northwood is resilient to both physical and cyber attacks given its importance. – The National Security Council of ministers should review progress on the UK’s nuclear deterrent at least twice a year, the reviewers say. – John Healey has pledged to create a new “hybrid Navy” with AUKUS submarines and autonomous vessels that can patrol the North Atlantic. – He has also promised a “next-generation RAF” with “F-35s, upgraded Typhoons next-generation fast jets”. – As part of plans to increase innovation, defence experts should have faculty positions in partner universities from the 2026/27 academic year.

The funding will be one of the results of the government’s long-awaited strategic defence review which is due to be published in full on Monday. The government has committed to raising defence spending to 2.5% GDP from April 2027 with an ambition to increase that to 3% in the next parliament. In February, the prime minister said cuts to the foreign aid budget would be used to fund the military boost. Announcing the results of the review, the MoD said a new Digital Targeting Web would better connect soldiers on the ground with key information provided by satellites, aircraft and drones helping them target enemy threats faster. Defence Secretary John Healey said the technology announced in the review – which will harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) and software – also highlights lessons being learnt from the war in Ukraine. Ukraine is already using AI and software to speed up the process of identifying, and then hitting, Russian military targets. The review had been commissioned by the newly formed Labour government shortly after last year’s election with Healey describing it as the “first of its kind”. The government said the findings would be published in the first half of 2025, but did not give an exact date. Healey made the announcement on a visit to the MoD’s cyber headquarters in Corsham, Wiltshire. The headquarters is where the UK military co-ordinates their cyber activities to both prevent and to carry out cyber-attacks. Defence officials said over the last two years the UK’s military had faced more than 90,000 cyber-attacks by potential adversaries. Attacks have been on the rise, as has their level of sophistication, they added. Staff at Corsham said they had recently helped identify and block malware sent to UK military personnel who recently returned from working abroad. They said the source of the malware was from a “known Russian actor”. Both Russia and China have been linked to the increase in cyber-attacks. Defence officials have confirmed that the UK military has also been conducting its own offensive cyber-attacks. Healey said it showed the nature of warfare was changing. “The keyboard is now a weapon of war and we are responding to that,” he said. He said the UK needed to be the fastest-innovating military within the Nato alliance. As part of the strategic defence review, the UK’s military cyber operations will be overseen by a new Cyber and Electromagnetic Command. The MoD said the Command would also take the lead in electronic warfare, from co-ordinating efforts to intercept any adversaries communications, to jamming drones. Healey said the extra investment being made was possible because of the government’s “historic commitment” to increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027. However, the Nato Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, is calling on allies to increase defence spending by more than 3.5% of GDP.

Thatcher’s Britain, Miner’s strike, cruise missiles.  Repression and Resistance: 40 Years from the Brutal Police Violence at the Battle of the Beanfield to the Suppression of Environmental Protest Today is the 40th anniversary of the largest and most violent peacetime assault on civilians in modern British history, when a convoy of 140 vehicles, home to around 500 individuals and families, was attacked with astonishing ferocity by around 1,400 paramilitarized police drawn from six countries and the MoD, as they tried to make their way to Stonehenge to set up what would have been the 12th annual Stonehenge Free Festival. The festival culture of which Stonehenge was a part was largely influenced by counter-cultural ideas that had drifted across the water from the US in the late 1960s, via the hippie gatherings at Woodstock and elsewhere. Their most famous British manifestation — the Glastonbury Festival — is still in existence today, confirming the power of the appeal of holding hedonistic music festivals outdoors that, over 50 years ago, had first been introduced by a bunch of visionary hippies, although its format today, like that of the many imitators it has spawned, is now largely dominated by the capitalistic forces that have devoured almost every aspect of the anti-materialistic impulses of its early pioneers. Glastonbury wasn’t a free festival, as such, as it was run by Michael Eavis, once memorably described as “a Somerset farmer with crowd-gathering tendencies”, but key players in the free festival movement were intrinsically tied into its development in those years, as they and others pursued their vision of hedonistic pastoral egalitarianism. In 1972, a civil servant, Bill ‘Ubi’ Dwyer, provocatively set up a free festival in the grounds of Windsor Castle, which ran for three years until it was violently suppressed by the police in August 1974 — the first major manifestation of the establishment’s hostility towards the free festival culture. That same summer, a young man named Phil Russell, identifying himself as Wally Hope, gathered a group of ‘Wallies’ and set up the first Stonehenge Free Festival, camping near Britain’s most celebrated ancient monument, and largely providing amusing fodder for the media over the summer months. Russell died in mysterious circumstances in 1975, but his festival outlived him, growing in the years that followed to become Glastonbury’s unruly neighbour, the centrepiece of an annual cycle of free festivals and gatherings that steadily increased in size as more and more young people began taking to the road in cheap second-hand vehicles to escape the increasing desolation of Britain’s unemployment-wracked towns and cities. By 1984, Stonehenge had become a colossus of the counter-culture, occupying the fields around Stonehenge for the whole of the month of June, and drawing in up to 50,000 people over the course of its existence, an autonomous alternative town that defiantly refused to bow to the increasingly hectoring and threatening authoritarianism of Margaret Thatcher and her government. 1984, of course, was the year of the Miners’ Strike, when Thatcher paramilitarized the police to destroy striking miners, most noticeably at Orgreave, in South Yorkshire, on June 18, 1984, while the free festival was underway in Wiltshire……

But she described them as a “a wave of truncheon-wielding madmen” on that day. “I had [vehicle] tax and MOT, so in my view I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was on my way to work as Bo Bo the clown. That was my mindset.” For their part, the police said officers were hit with missiles, and petrol bombs were also thrown in their direction. The Marquess of Ailesbury looks at the camera, wearing shirt and jumper. There was one important witness to the incident – the Marquess of Ailesbury, who was then Lord Cardigan. The owner of nearby Savernake Forest, he had encountered the convoy heading to Stonehenge and chatted with them. “I wasn’t alarmed. I must have had some contact with the police – they told me in no uncertain terms they weren’t going to allow this convoy to get to Stonehenge.” The Marquess followed the convoy on his motorbike and then saw “one of the most awful things I’d ever seen”. He witnessed Ms Hatt, who he said was given no time to respond as the glass from her vehicle’s windows shattered, with police holding her head and feet. “I was offended by the sight – she wasn’t armed, she wasn’t threatening. She was just in the wrong place in the wrong time.” He later refused to give the police permission to access Savernake Forest, where other people who had been part of the convoy were sheltering.

Nord Stream 2 pipeline story  Spider’s Web: Ukraine Targets Russian Airfields in Major Drone Attack According to Reuters, Ukrainian spies hid the drones in wooden sheds that were loaded onto trucks and driven near bases deep inside Russia The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a large-scale drone attack deep inside Russian territory on Sunday that targeted several Russian airfields. The Russian Defense Ministry said the attack targeted five Russian regions, including the Amur Oblast in Russia’s far east, which is over 3,000 miles from Ukraine, and a base in the Irkutsk Oblast, over 2,500 miles from the Ukrainian border. The attack also targeted the northern region of Murmansk and the western oblasts of Ivanovo and Ryazan. The Russian Defense Ministry said that “several aircraft” caught fire in Murmansk and Irkutsk and that the attacks were launched “in the exact proximity” of the airfields in the region. The Defense Ministry said the attacks were “repelled” in the other three regions. “No casualties were reported either among servicemen or civilians. Some of those involved in the terror attacks were detained,” the ministry said. A Ukrainian official told Reuters that the SBU was able to pull off the attack by hiding explosive-laden drones inside the roofs of wooden sheds. The sheds were loaded onto trucks driven near the bases, and the roof panels were lifted off by a remotely activated mechanism, allowing the drones to fly out. Russia May Strike Nuclear Blow in Response Drone Strikes on Tu-95s Threaten Russia’s Nuclear Deterrence, Prompt Nuclear Response On Sunday, June 1, Ukraine attacked several Russian regions targeting military airfields with strategic aircraft deployed on them. Targets were hit in Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions According to Kyiv, the attacks were carried out to annihilate carriers of cruise missiles located at those airbases. Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that no one was killed, but several aircraft were damaged. Ukrainian officials said, however that the attacks led to the destruction of as much as 34 percent of Russia’s strategic fleet. FPV Drones Used in the Attack The strikes were carried out using FPV drones launched from trucks parked in close proximity to the airfields. Each truck reportedly carried about 50 drones. According to Alexey Rogozin, head of the Center for the Development of Transport Technologies NGO, the quadcopters used were of an unconventional design. The drones were operated via the popular open-source software Mission Planner in AltHold mode. In this mode, altitude is maintained using a barometer and accelerometer, with no reliance on GPS. “This indirectly suggests that electronic warfare systems (EW) might have been active at the airfields — GPS signals were being jammed, yet the drones still flew. Traditional defense systems are becoming obsolete,” Rogozin said. The expert also suggested the operators likely used digital communications via SIM cards, allowing for high-quality video transmission. Possible Target: Cruise Missile Carriers According to Voennoe Obozrenie (Military Review), in the past two weeks, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) had significantly relocated strategic aviation assets. For example, Tu-22M3 long-range bombers and Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers may have been transferred to the Olenya airbase in the Murmansk region. These aircraft — the Tu-22M3 and Tu-95MS — are capable of carrying cruise missiles. The Tu-22M3 supersonic bombers can be armed with up to three Kh-22 anti-ship missiles, each equipped with a high-explosive shaped-charge warhead weighing 960 kg. Tu-95MS strategic bombers can launch Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles. The upgraded Tu-95MSM variant carries eight Kh-101s on external pylons. These missiles have a maximum range of about 5,500 km and a fragmentation-explosive warhead weighing around 450 kg. During the special military operation, some Kh-101s were equipped with dual warheads — both fragmentation-explosive and cluster munitions — designed to strike area targets like airfields.

Mladic’s lawyers Dragan Ivetic and Branko Lukic said in the motion that since March 2024, he has had three medical incidents that medical officers at the UN Detention Unit have assessed as life-threatening or potentially life-threatening. “Given the nature of Mladic’s terminal and incurable health condition and his short life expectancy, continued detention serves no legitimate purpose and amounts to inhuman treatment and punishment,” their motion argued.

Less Than 10 Russian Bombers Destroyed In Ukraine’s “Shock Attack”; Kyiv Mostly Struck Defunct Aircraft: Russian Claims Ukraine’s recent drone attack on four Russian Air Bases, where scores of bombers were destroyed, not only shocked Moscow but also led to a rewriting of the rules of modern warfare. But, how many bombers did Russia lose? Ex-IAF fighter pilot and Russia expert, Vijainder TK Thakur, believes that Ukraine might have mostly struck “Christmas Trees,” and not combat-ready Bombers. He writes: What Zelensky touts as an 18-month masterstroke of planning is increasingly looking like a miscalculated, amateur effort. Ukraine seems to have worked off a flawed assumption: that anything parked on a Russian tarmac was a functional military aircraft. In reality, of the ~200 Tu-95MS strategic bombers the Soviet Union built, Russia’s Aerospace Forces operate only around 60. The rest—roughly 140—have long been relegated to open-air storage, stripped for spare parts. Ukrainian planners apparently believed these mothballed aircraft would be kept out of sight in hangars, while operational bombers would be conveniently left in the open. The reality is precisely the opposite: Russia stores both retired and active aircraft out in the open. As a result, most of the Ukrainian drone strikes targeted what are effectively “Christmas Tree” decoys—hulks with no engines, no fluids, and no combat value. Footage released by Ukraine itself shows hits on A-50s without engines and multiple strikes that triggered no fires, betraying the absence of combustible fluids. A real operational Tu-95MS would at least leak hydraulic or lubricating oil, even if empty of fuel. Zelensky’s “strategic success” may have been little more than a fireworks show on a junkyard. The number of destroyed planes is likely in the single digits. Not in the dozens. By the will of fate, the overwhelming majority of planes attacked by the hohols were non-flying aircraft from the “iron row”. They could have attacked monuments on pedestals with the same success and effectiveness. Fuel burns in planes; there is nothing else to burn. But when it burns, even the concrete nearby burns. The holes in the sides directly indicate that they are scrap metal, empty, and without fuel. Of course, no one refuels faulty, written-off aircraft. They have the fattest layer of tires, because they are parked, the best for a photo report. You will get tired of carrying tires on an aircraft that flies. Yes, in theory, of course, they can be restored and turned into a combat aircraft, but by that logic, monuments can also be restored. In March, President Trump signed an executive order calling for the federal government to share data across agencies, raising questions over whether he might compile a master list of personal information on Americans that could give him untold surveillance power. Mr. Trump has not publicly talked about the effort since. But behind the scenes, officials have quietly put technological building blocks into place to enable his plan. In particular, they have turned to one company: Palantir, the data analysis and technology firm. The Trump administration has expanded Palantir’s work across the federal government in recent months. The company has received more than $113 million in federal government spending since Mr. Trump took office, according to public records, including additional funds from existing contracts as well as new contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon. (This does not include a $795 million contract that the Department of Defense awarded the company last week, which has not been spent.) Representatives of Palantir are also speaking to at least two other agencies — the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service — about buying its technology, according to six government officials and Palantir employees with knowledge of the discussions. Red Cross say Gaza now ‘Worse Than Hell On Earth’, humanitarian chief tells BBC World leaders ‘obligated’ to save lives in Gaza, says head of ICRC Gaza has become worse than hell on earth, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross has told the BBC. In an interview at the ICRC’s headquarters in Geneva, the organisation’s president Mirjana Spoljaric said “humanity is failing” as it watched the horrors of the Gaza war. Speaking in a room close to a case displaying the ICRC’s three Nobel Peace Prizes, I asked Ms Spoljaric about remarks she made in April, that Gaza was “hell on earth”, and if anything had happened since to change her mind. “It has become worse… We cannot continue to watch what is happening. It’s surpassing any acceptable, legal, moral, and humane standard. The level of destruction, the level of suffering. “More importantly, the fact that we are watching a people entirely stripped of its human dignity. It should really shock our collective conscience.” She added that states must do more to end the war, end the suffering of Palestinians and release Israeli hostages. The words, clearly carefully chosen, of the president of the ICRC carry moral weight. The International Red Cross is a global humanitarian organisation that has been working to alleviate suffering in wars for more than a century and a half. It is also the custodian of the Geneva Conventions, the body of international humanitarian law that is intended to regulate the conduct of war and protect civilians and other non-combatants. The most recent version, the fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, was adopted after the Second World War and was intended to stop the mass killing of civilians from happening again. Academic faces private prosecution over posts on X The Campaign Against Antisemitism is privately prosecuting David Miller. An academic is facing a private prosecution by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) charity over posts on social media. Three charges have been brought by the CAA alleging that Professor David Miller used a public communications network to send messages of a menacing character, contrary to section 127 of the Communications Act 2003. The first hearing is set to take place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 2, HM Courts & Tribunals Service confirmed. The case relates to posts on X, which Mr Miller is alleged to have published in recent months. The CAA said the first message was posted on November 8 last year in relation to a discussion on violence in Amsterdam after a football match involving an Israeli team. He is alleged to have sent another message on March 20, saying: “Every genuinely anti-Zionist Jew can count on being kept safe by the movement, when the time comes. Every Zionist Jew must be held accountable and de-Zionised. #DismantleZionism.” On March 24, he is said to have posted another tweet saying: “Protests are not enough. Listen to our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Those who are interested in ending this genocide must begin by targeting those responsible near them: the entire Zionist movement globally must live in fear of accountability until it is dismantled and its ideology eradicated. And let’s be clear, there are Zionists everywhere. In every town and city. Find out where they are. #DismantleZionism.” Mr Miller was previously found to have been unfairly and wrongfully dismissed by the University of Bristol in October 2021 after making comments criticising Israel. He successfully claimed at an employment tribunal last year that he experienced discrimination based on his anti-Zionist belief. The CAA describes itself as an organisation of volunteers which works to “expose and counter antisemitism through education and zero-tolerance enforcement of the law”.

They don’t stop soldiers killing each other but they’re intended to make sure that civilians caught up in the fighting are treated humanely and protected from as much danger as possible. The rules apply equally to all sides. If one side has suffered a brutal surprise attack that killed hundreds of civilians, as Israel did on 7 October 2023, it does not get an exemption from the law. The protection of civilians is a legal requirement in a battle plan. That, at least, is the theory behind the Geneva Conventions. The latest version, the fourth, was formulated and adopted after World War Two to stop such slaughter and cruelty to civilians from ever happening again. At the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva (ICRC) the words “Even Wars Have Rules” are emblazoned in huge letters on a glass rotunda. The reminder is timely because the rules are being broken. Getting information from Gaza is difficult. It is a lethal warzone. At least 181 journalists and media workers have been killed since the war started, almost all Palestinians in Gaza, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Israel won’t let international news teams into Gaza. Since the best way to check controversial and difficult stories is first hand, that means the fog of war, always hard to penetrate, is as thick as I have ever experienced in a lifetime of war reporting. It is clear that Israel wants it to be that way. A few days into the war I was part of a convoy of journalists escorted by the army into the border communities that Hamas had attacked, while rescue workers were recovering the bodies of Israelis from smoking ruins of their homes, and Israeli paratroopers were still clearing buildings with bursts of gunfire. Israel wanted us to see what Hamas had done. The conclusion has to be that it does not want foreign reporters to see what it is doing in Gaza….

John Bosnitch on the Crusades and Constantinople. The Great Schism between the churches of East and West began in July 1054. During the reign of Pope Leo IX (1049-54), the Roman Church interfered with the Byzantine Churches located in southern Italy. The pope ordered those churches to use unleavened bread and include the filioque clause in the Creed. Michael Cerularius (r. 1043-58), the Patriarch of Constantinople, objected saying the pope had no authority for such action and made his point by closing the Latin Rite churches in Constantinople. He also wrote a letter to the churches in Italy to continue their traditional practices. Becoming aware of Cerularius’ reaction, Pope Leo dispatched emissaries to Constantinople headed by Archbishop Humbert in an attempt to discuss the difficulties. Both Cerularius and Humbert were strong personalities, stiff necked, uncompromising, and the possibility of a good conclusion quickly evaporated. Cerularius ignored the envoys; Humbert excommunicated Cerularius and his staff and posted the bull of excommunication in the church of Hagia Sophia. In return, Cerularius excommunicated the papal envoys. This was the beginning of the schism; church oneness was shattered. Some at the time did not think this problem would be long term; unfortunately, it is still not totally resolved. Before the schism, there was one Catholic Church made up of Catholics living in the eastern and western parts of the Roman Empire. Following the schism, those in the East called themselves Orthodox Christians and, in the West, Catholics. Eventually Catholics in the West became known as Roman or Latin Catholics. As centuries went by, 23 of the Orthodox Churches reunited with Rome and are called the Eastern Catholic Church. These Catholics accept the authority of the pope (Code of Canons Eastern Church No. 43). Today they have an estimated 18 million members while the Orthodox Church membership exceeds 220 million. Total Eastern Catholics and Western Catholics is over 1.3 billion. From 1095 until 1270, there were seven crusades (invading armies) launched by the Holy See, first against the Turks and later Egyptian Muslims who occupied the Holy Land, the lands where Christ lived and taught the Gospel. The crusading armies attacked Jerusalem in 1099 and Constantinople in 1204. Both cities were filled with Christians, many of whom were murdered, without cause, by the Western armies. After sacking Constantinople, the crusaders, instead of returning the city to the Byzantine empire, established one of their own as king. Although the pope did not condone these acts, the atrocities would long be remembered in the East and impact the success of reconciliation efforts.

To quote: ‘Please let us know when you or Dave would like to come and retrieve your equipment and drop off your keys. Chloe Slater (formerly Jez and self-defined as ‘she’) also made it difficult for us to retrieve the last of our equipment by inferring we couldn’t be trusted, we were made to wait outside their building for over 30 minutes to return their mixing desk in December 2024.

March 2020 – BCfm’s weekly Politics Show presented by Tony Gosling with Irish Republican Labour activist Martin Summers was forced off FM, now online only by station manager Pat Hart. He decided the show should be ‘rested, due to the pandemic’ on 24 March 2020 and then refused to communicate at all when we requested to do the show remotely. Bristol Community FM (BCfm) charity ‘CEO’ Patrick Hart is a longtime personal friend of Bristol’s all-powerful right-wing ‘Labour’ mayor Marvin Rees. Now on Internet only NOT The BCfm Politics Show is available 17:00-c. 21:00 live on Fridays. Pat Hart replaced us with an inane student show repeating MSM stories called The Bristol Agenda. February 2019 – Ofcom complaint result: UKLFI exposed as creation of Israeli foreign ministry – Bristol Post article: BCfm cleared after being reported to Ofcom for anti-semitic conspiracy theories – It could have resulted in BCfm radio station being shut down if the complaint was upheld Tony Gosling reported to Ofcom by UK Lawyers for Israel after being accused of anti-semitism A Bristol radio station, which had one of its programmes reported for anti-semitism and racism has been cleared by Ofcom. The radio regulatory body received a complaint from “UK Lawyers for Israel’ over a show on BCfm radio, hosted by investigative journalist Tony Gosling. The weekly politics show, on the popular community radio station based in Easton, was reported for several allegations on a show which aired on November 23. Tony Gosling, who was a former BBC journalist between 1989 and 1993, has been producing and presenting ‘The Tony Gosling Politics’ show every week on BCFM radio for 11 years. They have released a statement which reads: “Whilst we are supportive of all our volunteer presenters, The Tony Gosling Politics Show only represents approximately ten percent of our political output content wise, and less than two per cent of our entire weekly output.” Mr Gosling’s programme looks at local politics and he interviews a range of councillors and MPs in the city. The show is also perhaps more well known for its alternative look at international politics, and he has a cult following online from across the world. Mr Gosling has made regular appearances on national media including the politics show with Andrew Neil on BBC One, and international channels such as Russia Today, Channel1 Russia, NTV, and recently for both Turkish and Lebanon TV.

November 2012 – Tony gets death threats on the phone from the Jewish Defence League – ‘you’re a dead man walking’ – a man calls him and Tony records the call. Audio of UK Jewish Defence League (JDL) death threat against British journalist Tony Gosling (2012) – Avon and Somerset police Special Branch investigate, trace the caller, and after six months report to Tony that the individual has been served a caution that they will proceed with a prosecution for harassment under the 1861 offences against the person act. Seems pretty clear this death threat was issued alongside the lies, copied below, which were published on their blog by London based UK JDL in November 2012.  Firstly Tony Gosling is not a ‘homophobe’. That accusation was first made in an article published by the ‘Harry’s Place’ blog, penned by Zionist David Toube and propelled by him anonymously into Private Eye in 2008. It refers to Gosling’s criticism of senior teachers at Bannerman Road Primary school in Bristol who used homosexual early learning picture books against the express wishes of the parent governors. His criticism was about the deception by teaching staff not because of the homosexual content of the books. Secondly, if you follow the JDL link you’ll find what Tony Gosling actually says about the ‘Protocols Of The Learned Elders Of Zion’ says “…I don’t think there is much doubt that the Protocols are fake…” Thirdly he is not a member of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and has never been to any of their meetings.
