Part One – Local and National News Review
Bruce Crone, Born-Again Christian, member of The Body of Christ Church, joins Tony and Martin. Bruce served in the Coldstream Guards in te British Army in the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus and, after severe bullying, was arrested for turning his rifle on his corrupt officers. Martin and Tony discuss Henry Kissinger’s role in the invasion’ Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The Cyprus Conspiracy: America, Espionage and the Turkish Invasion by Brendan O’Malley and Ian Craig In 1974 the Greek colonels ousted the Greek-Cypriot leader of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios, and Turkey retaliated by invading and seizing a third of the island. Cyprus remains split in two, like Berlin before the wall came down, bristling with troops and spying bases, and permanently policed by the United Nations. Henry Kissinger claimed he could do nothing to stop the coup because of the Watergate crisis, but this book presents evidence to support the view that it was no failure of American foreign policy, but the realisation of a long-term plot. The authors describe the strategic reasons for Washington’s need to divide the island. Their account encompasses an international cast of characters that includes Eden, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kissinger, Wilson, Callaghan, Grivas, and the leaders of the two halves of the divided island, Clerides and Denktas. “The Cyprus Conspiracy delivers new and damning detail on how the big powers (including good old “ethical” Britain) taught Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots not to live together.” -Boyd Tonkin, The Guardian “O’Malley and Craig show how powerful and penetrating journalism can be by producing a book of high quality and academic value. This book fills a gap in the literature about Cyprus and the Cyprus problem, and will also be of interest to those working on the eastern Mediterranean, and on US and British foreign policy in the region.” -Mediterranean Politics “A marvellous new book … It is a fascinating story of international intrigue, espionage and intelligence, brilliantly and graphically told and it will open a lot of eyes of people who, until now, had no inkling – until today – about the real and intriguing reason behind the partition of Cyprus.” -Chris Moncrieff, The House “This well written and well researched account of events provides the understanding of the situation and the causes, which led to the escalation of the crisis in 1974.” -Konstantinos Kotzias, Contemporary Review “With diligent research and fluency, they chart the labyrinth behind what they conclude was an international plot.” -Belfast Telegraph ‘The book should be of value to those interested in coming to a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding Cyprus.’ -Intelligence and National Security
Bruce explains how he found God when he was suicidal and how finding faith changed his life. Is Israel guided by God or not? Will te Jews repent? Piers Morgan interviews an Israeli spokesperson and asks if she cares 20,000 Palestinian children have been killed. Bruce says God wants his chosen people Jews in Israel, but agrees killing is not the way. The Body of Christ Church – Bristol 07903 828150, 0117 963 3215 and in Leeds 07552 219750 and 07776 153206 for the The Body Of Christ church. Avoid partiality altogether as it is written, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself,” and you do well if you fulfil this; but if you show partially, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. If you break one law, you have broken the whole law. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Don’t be too eager to become teachers for teachers receive a stricter judgement. The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. You will know the wise and understanding because his works are done in the meekness of wisdom and shown by his good conduct. Those with bitter envy and self seeking in their hearts are dealing with wisdom NOT from above but earthly, sensual, demonic wisdom. For where envy and self-seeking exists, confusion and every evil thing are there. Heavenly wisdom is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Believers given to leisure and pleasure are in a constant battle from within. They will receive nothing from God for friendship with the world is enmity with God. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you, in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN!
Grant Shapps on the Afghan data breach and the injunction. British spies and SAS named in Afghan data breach The identities of more than 100 British officials, including members of the special forces and MI6, were compromised in a data breach that also put thousands of Afghans at risk of reprisal, it can be reported. The latest fallout from the breach was kept secret by an injunction until Thursday, when the order was lifted in part by a High Court judge. That allowed media organisations to reveal that detailed case notes in the database contained secret personal data of special forces and spies. The government had already admitted on Tuesday the data of nearly 19,000 Afghans who had worked with the British during the 20-year war in Afghanistan and had applied to resettle in the UK had been inadvertently leaked… The discovery of the breach in 2023 forced the government to covertly set up the Afghanistan Response Route (ARR) – a resettlement scheme for those affected, who were not told about the breach despite the risk to their security. The scheme has already allowed 4,500 Afghans and family members to move to the UK and a further 2,400 people are expected, at an estimated cost of £850m. The accidental leak was the result of someone working at UK Special Forces headquarters in London inadvertently emailing more than 30,000 resettlement applications to an individual outside of government, thinking that he was sending data on just 150 people. After the lifting of the super-injunction on Tuesday, a secondary injunction had prevented the revelations about special forces and security services personnel being compromised. But that was also lifted on Thursday that barristers representing both the MoD and a group of media organisations reached a compromise that meant journalists could report the additional facts.

Secretary of Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign Tej Bhandal arrested at 5am by Met Police Anti-Terrorist Command, These super cops spent nearly three days going through his home as if he was a Mafia don Palestinian activist, has been arrested and is still believed to be being questioned under the terrorism act in Newbury, Berkshire about his ‘alleged’ involvement in a ram-raid on an Israeli arms firm in Bristol. But Mick Napier from Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign and others suspect this could be a ‘fishing operation’ to collect his communications with other Palestine activists, for further arrests, which Israeli signals intelligence may have already have been snooping on. Plus an attempt to paralyse Palestine demonstrations in Bristol. Cordon set up as police make terror-related arrest Counter-terrorism police raided the home in the St Werburghs area of Bristol A sixth person has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation in which 18 people have been charged with numerous terror-related offences. Members of the recently proscribed group Palestine Action are accused of breaking into the Elbit Systems UK site near Bristol on 6 August last year. A 20-year-old man from London has been taken into custody, alongside the arrests of five other people on Tuesday in connection with the investigation. The BBC also understands a cordon set up by the Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) in St Werburghs, Bristol, on Tuesday is connected to the latest arrests. Elbit employees and two police officers were “seriously assaulted” during the incident, police said Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) said the arrested people were detained on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Palestine Action allege Elbit Systems UK is involved in the manufacture and supply of weapons to the Israeli military – a claim the company strongly denies. The six arrested this week – a 66-year-old man from Bristol, a 20-year-old woman from Whitstable in Kent, a 19-year-old man from London, a 27-year-old man from London, a 33-year-old man from London, and a 20-year-old man from London – remain in custody. Palestine Action was declared a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000 on 5 July.

Internment without trial quietly introduced for Palestine peace activists in the UK: Trial of Filton 18 from Palestine Action not following procedure. Mother of protester says trial wait ‘outrageous’ The mother of a man charged in relation to an alleged break-in at the UK site of an Israel-based defence firm has said it is “outrageous” that he faces 21 months in prison before his case goes to trial. William Plastow, 34, is one of the ‘Filton 18’ accused of taking part in a Palestine Action protest at an Elbit Systems UK factory in Filton, Bristol last August. Mr Plastow is still awaiting his trial which is scheduled for April next year. His mum, Jane Plastow, believes it is the longest anyone has been held in prison pre-trial on protest-related charges. The Judicial Office told the BBC it could not comment on individual cases. An earlier court hearing was told that during the incident a vehicle was driven into the doors of buildings and two responding police officers and a security guard were injured. Along with many of the rest of the group, Mr Plastow, from Manchester, is charged with criminal damage, violent disorder and aggravated burglary which he denies. The Home Office has previously told the BBC: “The CPS has decided that there is sufficient evidence to submit to the court that these offences have a terrorism connection.” However, none of the 18 have been charged with terror offences. Elbit Systems UK is run separately to Israel-based Elbit Systems. It previously told the BBC that claims the facilities supply the Israeli military are “completely false”. An Elbit Systems UK spokesperson told the BBC it will not comment on an ongoing legal process. “I think [for Mr Plastow] there’s a great sense of helplessness and hopelessness,” Ms Plastow said. “There have been lots of people locked up as political prisoners in Britain recently, there is Palestine Action and Just Stop Oil – but nobody has been locked up longer than my son and some of his comrades.” ‘Gross overreach’ Ms Plastow said her son applied for bail, promising the judge that he would stay with his mother and wear an electronic tag. “We had discussed the most onerous terms, it basically amounted to house arrest,” Ms Plastow said. She said she offered to pay £50,000, from a recent inheritance, but he was denied bail.
James Henry House from Radio Q UK – 400,000 people to be pushed into poverty by health and disability benefit cuts Yesterday (26 March 2025), Chancellor Rachel Reeves, announced major savage cuts to the health and disability benefits. Cuts reforms announced in the Government’s Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper consultation last week included: Freezing the universal credit limited capability for work-related activity element for existing claimants from April 2026. Changing the PIP points system, so that only claimants who score at least four points for one daily living activity, as part of their minimum score of eight points, will qualify for the daily living component. This will apply to new claimants from November 2026 and to existing claimants whose PIP award is reviewed after that date. The mobility component is not affected. Scrapping the work capability assessment from 2028. There will be a new, single assessment for both PIP and the UC health element, based on the PIP daily living component assessment. However, the Chancellor yesterday announced one major policy change from the Green Paper. This was in which was in reaction to the Office for Budgetary Responsibility (OBR) scoring the savings from the Green Paper policies as lower than the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP had anticipated. This change was that the halved rate of the Universal Credit (UC) Health Element addition that will be introduced for new applicants from 2026 will now also be frozen until 2030, rather than increasing with the Consumer Price Index. This will lead to real terms cut for new UC Health recipients, even compared to the reduced rate previously announced.use, Radio Q, on how he’s managed being severely disabled, and what he thinks of the present proposed cuts to PIP.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves reveals she hasn’t got a clue in 2025 Mansion House Speech. Problems with UK economy. What you missed in Rachel Reeves’ Mansion House speech Chancellor sets out post-election vision for financial services, with reforms to payments, stablecoins and digital infrastructure front and centre Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivered her first Mansion House speech since taking office, and it was anything but cautious. Promising to “regulate for growth” and overhaul the UK’s financial architecture, the Chancellor placed financial services – and payments in particular – at the centre of her government’s economic vision. Here’s what you might have missed if you weren’t in the room. 1. Stablecoins and digital gilts to drive settlement innovation Reeves reiterated her ambition for the UK to lead on digital assets infrastructure, confirming: A framework for the regulation of fiat-backed stablecoins, with rules around authorisation, safeguarding and market integrity Further development of tokenised securities Government support for the design of a new digital gilt instrument, aiming to place the UK “at the forefront of digital asset innovation” This positions the Treasury firmly behind tokenisation as part of its wholesale settlement strategy, aligning with the Bank of England’s DLT experimentation and potentially paving the way for regulated tokenised payments rails. 2. Fintech and payments scale-up unit on the way Reeves announced the PRA and FCA will jointly launch a dedicated scale-up unit to support high-growth fintech firms, explicitly including those operating in payments. The move aims to address longstanding concerns about the regulatory burden on firms transitioning from sandbox to full authorisation — and provide a clearer pathway to domestic scaling. 3. New “concierge service” for inward investment A new concierge service for international financial services firms, to be launched by October via the Office for Investment, was announced as part of a wider inward investment push. This tailored support aims to attract global payments firms and fintechs looking to establish or grow operations in the UK, particularly in hubs like London, Manchester, and Leeds. 4. Reforms to the Financial Ombudsman Service In a nod to the compliance cost of redress processes, Reeves unveiled major changes to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), including: A proposed 10-year limit on complaints A shift back to the FOS’s original purpose as a “simple, impartial arbitration service” A reduction in the pre-decision interest rate from 8% to base rate plus 1% These reforms are likely to be welcomed by payments firms concerned with the FOS’s expanding remit and the financial unpredictability of retrospective redress claims
Justin Walker on the Bradbury Pound and the power of Banks and The City of London. The Great Rising.org. Programmable money. China and the social credit system. What happens if the present money system collapses again? The Bradbury Note Up until the First World War, gold sovereigns and half sovereigns had circulated as everyday currency for about a hundred years, so it was not until the 1833 Bank Charter Act, when ‘Bank of England’ notes became legal tender in England and Wales. Did you know that the Dardanelles Campaign gave rise to a special kind of note, or actually two notes? On 5th August 1914 (the day after the First World War was declared), the Currency and Bank Notes Act was passed. This allowed the Treasury to issue currency notes of £1 and 10/-. These notes had full legal tender status and were convertible for gold through the Bank of England. BRADBURY – The first notes were produced to a hurried design and, because of the lack of availability of banknote paper, were printed on paper produced for postage stamps. The £1 note was issued on Friday August 7th and the 10/- a week later. These are known as the first Bradbury issue after the Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, Sir John Bradbury. John Bradbury was born in 1872 and entered the Civil Service in 1896, first in the Colonial Office and then the Treasury. After serving under Asquith and then Lloyd George, Bradbury was appointed one of two permanent secretaries to the Treasury in 1913. Bradbury remained the governments chief financial advisor during the war and left the treasury on 27 August 1919 to become principal British delegate to the Reparation Commission. Within days a new design was being worked on. The design was produced by Mr. George Eve and the notes were printed on banknote paper. The notes were issued on 23rd October (£1) and 21st January 1915 (10/-). Some of these notes were overprinted in Arabic, by the Treasury, for use by the British forces in the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (MEF) out in the Dardanelles and Gallipoli. These were emergency issue, uniface and were overprinted in Arabic script for the Dardanelles campaign. Apparently they were issued for use for the entire British MEF in the Mediterranean and the Naval fleet. The Arabic text translates as “Piastres Silver 120” in the top line and “Piastres Silver One Hundred and Twenty” in the lower line. The Spider’s Web documentary – the big auditors penetrating the State – Lifetime Achievement Award for Corporate Tax Management. Why I gatecrashed David Hartnett’s dinner party 2012 Last week, some friends and I burst in on a speech from the retired HMRC boss Dave Hartnett at a tax dodgers conference. The video of our action has since gone viral. Here’s why I did it: I stood as a Green candidate in local elections last year. If I had bought dinner and drinks for a potential voter, I would have been breaking the law and I would have been disqualified. If you buy someone who has power over you nice things in the hope they will do you a favour, then this is bribery. It’s pretty simple. When people do it in developing countries, the British establishment rolls its eyes. Dave Hartnett was, until the end of July, Britain’s senior tax collector. He was also the civil servant who was most wined and dined. You can choose to believe one of two things: either the senior tax man has the most scintillating, entertaining dinner table chat of everyone at Whitehall; or there’s something more sinister going on. Next, take look at the deals that Mr Hartnett has signed off on over the years: the £10 million ($16.2 million) he let Goldman Sachs off may seem a lot, but it is piffling next to the £6 billion ($9.7 billion) that Vodafone is said to have been allowed to scratch from their accounts. In total, the amount of tax owed by the extremely rich whom Mr Hartnett has let slip through the net over his years in post, must run to many billions of pounds. I think it is fair to assume that his numerous invitations to these dinners are not the product of Mr Hartnett’s mastery of small talk. Or think about it from Mr Hartnett’s point of view. When we burst into the dining room, the people there were drinking port. I imagine it was pretty nice port. And if he is the most wined and dined civil servant, then I imagine this isn’t the first time he has accepted what is in effect a valuable gift from someone he is supposed to regulate. I imagine he has become quite used to the life of the mega-rich. There are various words for this process. One term sometimes used is ‘regulatory capture’: the regulator ends up too close to those they are regulating. But I like simple words. So I’ll go for ‘corruption’. The impact cannot be underestimated. There are the lives ruined by government cuts, the gross inequality. We all know the stories – or if you don’t, then you need to start looking around you. It is important to remember that there are many, many reasons that made austerity just one course of action, a choice. None of these cuts are necessary. And the easiest way to understand this is that the tax dodged through Dave Hartnett’s dodgy deals would have easily covered the cost of these cuts. But there is something else that it is important to understand too. The fact that this was just one choice means that these choices are made by real people. And those people aren’t on a different planet, or even in a different country. But they get away with thinking that they are. They surround themselves with smokescreens to block out the poverty, and they congratulate themselves on their mutual genius. They flit from conference centre to hotel to air-conditioned office, and they insulate themselves from the society they are wrecking. But they share an island with us. They are not too far away. And once in a while, we get a chance to puncture their bubble: ideally, with mockery.

INURA 2025 – Anti-fragility through strengthening civil society – Infrastructure for Defence and the Everyday – Bombs are not falling in Finland, but city officials were not blind to threats to their territory, their institutions, their bodies – i.e. their sovereignty – and the need for response measures to protect its residents. A well-visited excursion prepared by Panu Lehtovuori’s led visitors through the city’s above ground (wide allees) and below ground defence mechanisms. Currently repurposed as sports centres and parking lots, bunkers at a depth of 50 m underground had the capacity to shelter 300,000 residents in less than 72 hours. Meanwhile, Tampere continues its investments in infrastructures for public good. A tram tour with Jaakko Stenhäll, Green Party City Councillor, introduced visitors to Tampere’s transit-oriented development. Anti-Fragile Cities — Ultimately INURA 2025 posed deeper questions about what constitutes anti-fragility in urban space. How and when is anti-fragility invoked? How do locally specific circumstances (resources, information, education, strength of inclusive institutions) shape processes of resilience? What are the epistemologies behind agendas of resilience? What can cities learn from each other? Being from Luxembourg, what can we learn from abroad? On the tours and during the informal conversations in-between, anti-fragility in Tampere, was indeed about a dramatic project of building systems of preparedness against violence (pathetic as it is that in 2025, there are still some on the international stage who–to put it mildly–act in bad faith). However, and moreover, anti-fragility was also about strengthening civil society: preserving inclusive spaces for different forms of expression (including the freedom to critique figures of authority), protecting labour, building mobility and communication networks, caring for neighbours and young people, valuing the experimentation with different ways of living. Thank you to the organizers Mariia Pristupa and Jens Brandt, and to Linda Strande, Jason Katz, Elke Rauthe, Britta Grell, Marit Rosol, Philipp Klaus, Richard Wolff, Stijn Oosterlynk, and so many others for the deep conversations. And Mark Saunders, founding member of INURA, it was with great sadness to learn that you had to leave this world so early. While everyone is grateful for the time with you in Tampere, you will be missed terribly. For readers, here is his work at Spectacle. Memories of Mark can be contributed here.

BBC World Service report – Professor Nick Maynard on his experience recently in Gaza – teenagers shot whilst getting AID for family. PMQs – don’t Palestinian lives matter? Genocide. UK surgeon reports severe malnutrition causing preventable deaths among patients in Gaza hospital Medic further observes targeted injuries among civilians visiting Israel’s militarised distribution sites in Gaza A UK surgeon volunteering with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)’s Emergency Medical Team (EMT) at Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza has reported alarming levels of malnutrition, particularly among children, and evidence of targeted shootings of civilians at Israel’s militarised distribution points. Professor Nick Maynard, a consultant gastrointestinal surgeon currently in Gaza for the third time since October 2023, described witnessing unprecedented levels of severe malnutrition that are directly contributing to preventable deaths among patients receiving surgery. “The malnutrition I’m seeing here is indescribably bad. It’s much, much worse now than a year ago,” said Professor Maynard. The surgeon reported that colleagues he worked with a year ago were barely recognisable, having lost 20-30kg due to severe food shortages. Critically, he noted that patients injured by Israeli military attacks are dying because malnutrition prevents proper healing. “The repairs that we carry out fall to pieces, patients get terrible infections, and they die. I have had so many patients die because they can’t get enough food to recover, it’s distressing to see that and know that it is preventable and treatable,” Professor Maynard explained. Babies in the hospital’s neonatal unit are particularly affected, with four recent infant deaths reported due to malnutrition. “I saw a seven-month-old who looked like a newborn. The expression ‘skin and bones’ doesn’t do it justice. We have almost no liquid or intravenous feeds – children are being given essentially 10% sugar water, which is not proper nutritional support. I had tears in my eyes seeing how unbelievably thin these children are. Another international doctor here, who tried to bring formula feed in, had it confiscated by Israeli authorities at the border,” added Professor Maynard.
Richard Sanders – ‘Is Labour Anti Semitic’ film being discredited – Rachel Riley, Countdown, and others recruited by Jewish Labour Group to bring Jeremy Corbyn down. I’ve looked too at the X feeds and the public pronouncements of the other people who played a leading role role in this campaign against Corbyn. Luciana Berger, Louise Allman, Margaret Hodge, Ruth Smeeth. Now, Baroness Anderson, Rachel Riley, Tracey Ann Olbermann, John Mann, all of these people pretty much the same as the JLM. You get the very, very occasional bit of the most perfunctory sort of hand wringing. Other than that, no criticism at all of the Israelis. Virtually no expression of compassion or sympathy for the Palestinians at all with others. It is even worse. If you take Ian Austen, former Labour mp, elevated to the Lords by Boris Johnson for his services in bringing down Jeremy Corbyn and who has been appointed by Keir Starmer as trade envoy to Israel for a time. Ian Austin had as his X profile picture the words “let Israel finish the job.” You have David Mencer who appears on our screens all the time. He is a spokesman for the Israeli government. He’s actually the man, day after day up there on screen, justifying what the Israelis are doing in the Gaza Strip: IDF have carefully struck, using precise munitions to mitigate any civilian harm in the area. He is a former director of Labour Friends of Israel. And with others, it gets even worse. In the Labour files, we expose Jonathan Hoffman and Richard Millett. These two men were really the sort of foot soldiers of the campaign against Jeremy Corbyn. They were the ones that were coming up with the stories day after day. We exposed them as having links to the extreme right, as having been at one time very close to the English Defence League: Jonathan Hoffman. He is photographed alongside Roberta Moore, the founder of the EDL’s Jewish division. She will later express her admiration for Anders Breivik, the neo Nazi who murdered 77 people in Norway. These people are aggressive champions of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. When the entire family of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was wiped out by the Israelis, this included four infant children. Richard Millett celebrated the fact and said, I hope this hurt so, so much. These people were not campaigners against racism. Iranian Ambassador to the UN – UN impotent because can’t stop Israel attacking them. War with Iran? ‘Brazen attack on intl. law’: Iranian foreign ministry report details Israeli aggression In a report, Iran’s foreign ministry has detailed how the large-scale and unprovoked Israeli military aggression against Iran violated international law and humanitarian principles. The report, titled “Brazen Attack on International Law by the Israeli Regime”, documents extensive civilian casualties, damage to infrastructure, and the targeted killings of military leaders and scientists as a result of the aggression that began on June 13 and lasted for 12 days. According to the report, on the morning of June 13, Israel, led by a prime minister facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), launched a premeditated, large-scale military attack on Iranian soil with the green light from the United States. The aggression, the report notes, was carried out without provocation, in direct violation of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2(4), as well as numerous resolutions, including UNGA Resolution 2625 (XXV) and UNGA Resolution 3314 (XXIX). As emphasized in the report, the Israeli regime conducted indiscriminate strikes on densely populated civilian areas, vital infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and non-combatants. The result was hundreds of fatalities, thousands of injuries, and significant damage to the country’s medical, educational, and industrial facilities in civilian areas. Citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran defends its retaliatory operations against the Israeli regime as lawful self-defense, limited to “military objectives within occupied territories.” The report categorically rejects Israel’s use of the “preemptive self-defense” doctrine, calling it a fabricated legal excuse with no basis in international law.
Time to Remember – 1945 and the aftermath of the WW2. The United Nations have also had experience, even while the fighting was still going on, in reaching economic agreements for times of peace. What was done on the subject of relief at Atlantic City, food at Hot Springs, finance at Bretton Woods, aviation at Chicago, was a fair test of what can be done by nations determined to live cooperatively in a world where they cannot live peacefully any other way. What you have accomplished in San Francisco shows how well these lessons of military and economic cooperation have been learned. You have created a great instrument for peace and security and human progress in the world. The world must now use it! If we fail to use it, we shall betray all those who have died in order that we might meet here in freedom and safety to create it. If we seek to use it selfishly–for the advantage of any one nation or any small group of nations–we shall be equally guilty of that betrayal. The successful use of this instrument will require the united will and firm determination of the free peoples who have created it. The job will tax the moral strength and fibre of us all. We all have to recognize-no matter how great our strength–that we must deny ourselves the license to do always as we please. No one nation, no regional group, can or should expect, any special privilege which harms any other nation. If any nation would keep security for itself, it must be ready and willing to share security with all. That is the price which each nation will have to pay for world peace. Unless we are all willing to pay that price, no organization for world peace can accomplish its purpose. And what a reasonable price that is! Out of this conflict have come powerful military nations, now fully trained and equipped for war. But they have no right to dominate the world. It is rather the duty of these powerful nations to assume the responsibility for leadership toward a world of peace. That is why we have here resolved that power and strength shall be used not to wage war, but to keep the world at peace, and free from the fear of war. By their own example the strong nations of the world should lead the way to international justice. That principle of justice is the foundation stone of this Charter. That principle is the guiding spirit by which it must be carried out–not by words alone but by continued concrete acts of good will. There is a time for making plans–and there is a time for action. The time for action is now! Let us, therefore, each in his own nation and according to its own way, seek immediate approval of this Charter-and make it a living thing.
Pathetic? Will China do anything to help situation in Gaza? Or is the nation paralysed by an obsession with building up its economic, domestic and military might in a bid for world domination? For China, war in Gaza a chance to flex diplomatic muscle at little risk Beijing’s efforts to play greater role in Middle East still largely symbolic but could expand in future, analysts say. As Israeli air strikes began raining down on Lebanon last week, China moved quickly to condemn the latest escalation of fighting in the Middle East. Meeting his Lebanese counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged that Beijing would stand “on the side of justice and the side of Arab brothers, including with Lebanon”. “We pay close attention to the development of the regional situation, especially the recent explosion of communication equipment in Lebanon, and firmly oppose indiscriminate attacks on civilians,” Wang Yi told Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, according to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Wang’s comments reflected what many observers have come to expect from Beijing in its statements on the Israel-Palestine conflict since the start of the war in Gaza almost a year ago. From calling for a ceasefire and a “two-state solution” within days of Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel, Beijing has moved steadily closer to explicitly aligning itself with Palestine and the greater Arab world. At the same time, Chinese state media and officials have been quick to blame the United States for its unwavering support of Israel, though Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Israel-China ties as a “marriage made in heaven” as recently as 2017, and cast Beijing as an advocate for peace. Still, even as Chinese diplomats share rhetorical barbs with Israel and the US, Beijing’s actions over the past year have been more symbolic than substantive, analysts say, favouring rhetoric and low-risk policy moves, such as challenging Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories at the International Court of Justice. China has refrained from taking a hands-on role in the war as countries such as the US, France, Qatar and Egypt – which have been deeply involved in negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict – and has maintained extensive economic ties with Israel despite its increasingly vocal criticism of the country on the global stage. China’s Embassy in Tel Aviv and mission to Palestine in Ramallah did not respond to requests for comment. China’s approach to the conflict is in line with how it behaves abroad generally and in the Middle East, in particular, said Hana Elshehaby, a research assistant for the foreign policy and security programme at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs in Doha, Qatar.
Asked if he trusted Putin, Mr Trump took a lengthy pause before saying: “I trust almost nobody to be honest with you.” Trump on nearly having a deal with Putin 4 times, and how he can’t trust anyone. Donald Trump warns he’s ‘not done’ with Putin and ‘trusts almost nobody’ Asked if he trusted Putin, Mr Trump took a lengthy pause before saying: “I trust almost nobody to be honest with you. Donald Trump said he is “not done” with Vladimir Putin as he made clear his frustration with Russia’s President during a candid interview with the BBC’s Gary O’Donoghue – and admitted he “trusts almost nobody”. The billionaire spoke at length to the corporation’s chief North America political correspondent on a wide range of subjects, from the war in Ukraine to US relations with the UK, with the White House contacting Mr O’Donoghue minutes earlier to say the President wanted to talk. Asked to sum up his attitude to Putin more than six months since returning to the White House for a second term, Mr Trump claimed the pair had been on the brink of striking a deal to end the war on four occasions. He explained: “I’m disappointed – I’m not done with him, but i’m disappointed in him. “We had a deal done four times, and then you go home and you see just attacked a nursing home or something in Kyiv. “I said ‘what the hell was that all about?'” Asked if he trusted Putin, Mr Trump took a lengthy pause before saying: “I trust almost nobody to be honest with you.” On Monday, Mr Trump threatened Russia with steep tariffs and announced a rejuvenated pipeline for American weapons to reach Ukraine, hardening his stance toward Moscow after months of frustration about unsuccessful negotiations for ending the war.
Patrick Henningsen, 21st Century Wire, on the Afghan data breach, and how both 9/11 (2001) and 7/7 (2005) were false flag attacks carries out by Israel and its US/UK fifth column to justify the Yinon Plan to demonise Muslims much like Hitler did Jews, and to invade the Middle East for Israel’s benefit. Is Trump Being Set Up by Israel to Reignite War with Iran? Should Trump oppose a greater US engagement in the conflict involving Israel and Iran, experts caution that Tel Aviv might engage in deceptive tactics, including assaults on American assets or orchestrated terrorist events. Information obtained by the Tehran Times indicates that “Israel” was planning to orchestrate an explosion in the United States and attribute the act to Iran, presumably with the intent to provoke a large-scale conflict between the US and Iran. Earlier today, Raymond McGovern, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, warned the US maritime assets stationed in the Gulf to expect a false-fag attack by Israel, which ultimately would be blamed on Iran. Earlier today, a report from Tehran Times disclosed that Israel had devised a false flag operation on American territory. Information acquired by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s first English daily newspaper indicates that Israel was scheming to execute an explosion on U.S. soil and subsequently attribute the act to Iran, seemingly to provoke a full-scale conflict between the United States and Iran. The strategy entailed orchestrating a catastrophic event within the U.S. and fabricating evidence to implicate Iran, thus manipulating public sentiment in America and inciting military intervention. According to the report, Iran became aware of the Israeli conspiracy through intelligence shared by an allied nation. Upon discovering the imminent threat, Iranian officials communicated with U.S. authorities, successfully averting the planned explosion. A “False-Flag” operation is a misleading tactic designed to create the illusion that a different group is to blame, concealing the actual culprit’s identity.
Danny Kruger, Wiltshire MP – ‘our democracy is founded on Christian faith’, speech about the Christianity Church of England – abortion, assisted dying. Madame Deputy Speaker, last month, in the space of three days, in one infamous week, this house authorised the killing of unborn children of 9-month-old babies, and it passed a bill to allow the killing of the elderly and disabled. And I describe those laws in these stark terms, not to provoke further controversy, but because those are the facts. We gave our consent to the greatest crime, the killing of the weak, the most defenseless human beings. It was a great sin. And if I, standing here have any power to repent on on behalf of this house, then I hereby repent of what we did. But Madam Deputy Speaker, in the reaction to these votes and all around us, in reaction to the state of the country and the world, something else is happening, there is a great hunger in society for a better way of living. And I want to use this opportunity to explain what that better way is and why we here in England have the means to follow it. The Jewish and the Christian God is a God of nations. He’s interested in people as individuals, but also as groups, as communities, not only of kinship, though that too, but of common worship with a common God. And this nation, England, from which the United Kingdom grew, uniquely among the nations of the world, was founded, created consciously on the basis of the Bible and the story of the Hebrew people. And in that sense, England is the oldest Christian country and the prototype of nations across the West. “It’s no surprise that both the church and the country itself are in a bad way, divided, internally, confused, badly led,” said Kruger. He claimed that a “new religion” is creeping over the nation, “a hybrid of old and new ideas, and it doesn’t have a proper name, and I don’t think ‘woke’ does justice to its seriousness. “It is a combination of ancient paganism, Christian heresies, and the cult of modernism all mashed up into a deeply mistaken, deeply dangerous ideology of power, hostile to… families, communities and nations.” Kruger suggested that recent parliamentary votes—such as the decision to back assisted dying legislation—reflect a lack of care for the most vulnerable in society. “We have a choice,” he urged. “A new restoration is needed now. A revival of the faith, and the recovery of Christian politics… The route to a prosperous modernity is founded on respect for human dignity, responsibility for the created world, and the worship of God.”
